Sitting here getting ready to enjoy some authentic Cuban coffee. What a great little find. I had the grilled chicken Cuban and my wife had the traditional Cuban. The bread is so fresh and good. I really enjoyed the black beans - very tasty. We had some plantains as an appetizer and they were amazing. The dipping sauce so buttery and garlic infused.... just amazing on the taste buds. Major let down. Another "Cuban" restaurant with Mexican chefs. That said, the food was not bad, but it definitely was not authentic Cuban food. We ordered steak sandwiches and fries. A Cuban staple. First, the meat was dyed red from the marinade. There is literally no Cuban marinade that is red, that is Mexican 100%. The fries were not real potatoes, obviously frozen store bought crap flash fried, which means mushy and oily. The sandwiches had a ton of mayo which is not a typical ingredient for a Cuban steak sandwich. We ordered chicken soups. I thought we were in a Mexican restaurant. The soup was filled with cilantro, Mexican style rice and clearly had oil and tomato paste in the broth. None of these things go in a Cuban style chicken soup. There were no noodles, which is a must have for Cuban style soup. Was it bad? No. It just wasn't Cuban. The tostones were oily, thick and dry, which usually is a sign they've been previously frozen. Finally, we ordered kids chicken nuggets and it was literally store bought chicken nuggets and frozen fries. No Cuban restaurant would serve you that in Miami or Tampa cause they'd go out of business. Fried chicken is the easiest thing to make. Was the food bad? No. It was ok. Was it Cuban? No. Not really. If they marketed themselves as a Latin style restaurant I'd give them a 4, but as a Cuban restaurant it's a 2 and that's being generous. read more

I needed something close and easy so I decided to try this spot that I've driven by hundreds of times I wasn't too hunger so I decided to keep it basic and ordered chicken empanadas, yuca fries and a tres leches. When I walked in I didn't see a real place to order so I sat down. A young girl with glasses came and got me and took me to where I would order. She made no attempts at eye contact and didn't even give me a menu. I asked and looked over just to make sure what I chose online is what I really wanted. She took my order and payment and walked off. No quote on time. Didn't even take back the receipt. I stood there for about 5 minutes as she had a conversation with someone complaining about someone. I just put my receipt down and walked next door. When I came back, there was again no acknowledgement of any kind. She walked by me about 5 times before I stopped her. Turns out my food was ready. Glad I asked, I might still be there if I didn't. Whatever On to the food. These were the worst empanadas I've ever had in my life. There were olives in it. What Cuban ever said let's do this horrible pair up. Ugh. The yucca fries were fine as it's nearly impossible to mess up. They earned a star back because at least the tres leches is good. But I can say that unless someone pays me to go, I will not return. I don't much appreciate being treated like I'm invisible and especially not for some variation of something pretending to be Cuban. read more

The food is fantastic! We went at dinner time on a Friday night and it wasn't too busy. The sign posted warns that they are under staffed, and the service was a little bit slow, but we still got our food within 30 minutes of sitting down and it was so worth it! This has been our favorite pick-up spot for dinners! The food still tastes great when we get it home and every meal we have tried has been really good. Was referred here by a friend and colleague who lives up this way and WOW was he spot on! A true gem has popped up in the Cumming corridor off of Hwy 20. In an unassuming little strip mall about a mile East of 400 just down from the Honda dealership sits CoCo's, a mom and pop smallbiz that is totally worth patronizing. Food here is prepared fresh to order, and as such can be a bit of wait... but totally worth it. Just wouldn't come here in a rush. The location is divided into a coffee shop and restaurant. Upon entering, there are some comfy chairs to your right around a coffee table with 4 small tv screens showing news and sports. The rest of the restaurant is a mix of tables and bench seating. You can seat yourself and the staff here is super friendly. The menu here is superb. Generous on classic Cuban fare, the sandwiches are heaven and the traditional entrees super yummy. The big feature here is PRICE: wayyy affordable. Sub $10 for most things on the menu and totally worth every single penny, if not more. Note that they are closed on Sunday and Monday, can have a bit of a wait, but a lovely gem this far out in the suburbs. read more

This place rocks! Excellent food at good prices. A mom n' pop Cuban restaurant? Nice. I had the fried (yes... fried) pork with these beautiful marinated onions with a tasty mojo sauce. The yellow rice and black beans were perfect. Victoria, our server, could not of been nicer or more attentive. She knows the menu back and forth and guided us to a few of the go-to dishes. My sugar-pie (SuPa)had the Cuban sandwich which did not disappoint and to end the meal, we splurged a whole $1.49 for this beautiful, flakey, cheesy, guava type pasty that we couldn't get enough of. Oh yeah... make sure you try a class of their coconut water with pulp. Fantastic. We are looking forward to coming back any trying some of their other dishes. I think I was the first in line when this place opened. I was so excited too finally get a Cuban restaurant in the area. It's been several years they've been open and I've tried multiple times, both dine in and take out, lunch and dinner. Each time I shake my head and try to figure out how they are still open. If you think it's great, then you haven't had great Cuban food. Think Casavana in Homestead! It is always FOREVER to get your food. I'm not talking a reasonable time to create a hand made plate, but long enough to get a mani-pedi and then still wait some more. This is both take out or eat in. I took my parents one night it was a two hour dinner with two other tables. The menu is extensive with the usual choices. Unfortunately, the food is either adequate or so incredibly salty you worry you'll stroke out as you eat it. The dozen crayon scribbled hostile signs, that are usually posted, telling the patrons what not to do are amusing, but also not welcoming. Mr Fish also needs a bigger home (DONT TOUCH THE WATER!) for the giant goldfish in a tiny tank! Can we also discuss the staff? They seem to be inconvenienced if you need anything I feel others have this opinion too with the (DONT TAP ON THE GLASS!) sign at the register. This must have been created due to the fact that they will stay on the phone without acknowledging the customer while directly in front of you for all eternity. This was my first time trying cuban food, so I was very excited. Coco's is located in a pretty unassuming strip mall, and the decor is also homely. We ordered the tostones with roasted pork. This was undoubtably one of the best things I've ever had. The tostones were perfectly fried, and the pork was very flavorful, and so plentiful! The sauce had a sweet and sour taste, which went very well with the starchiness of the plantains. I ordered the bistec palomilla, which came with beans and rice. The steak was flavorful, though I found the onion topping too sweet. The beans were too salty, and the rice was a bit mushy. This dish was just alright. I would definitely come back for the tostones, and maybe to try some empanadas or the Cuban sandwich. I think the best thing here is the price: most things are under $10. read more

This a nice family run business that offers a good lunch menu and good Cuban coffee. Parking is easy and the service is good. The seating isn't very comfortable FYI but if you're here just for Lunch it's no big deal. We ordered the potatoe with meat balls, empanadas, steak sandwich and vieja ropa. The potatoe meat balls were homemade and delicious. The empanadas are more likely frozen but pretty good. The vieja ropa and sandwich were pretty standard for Cuban and the rice with beans delicious and packed with flavor. We finished with a cafe con leche that was perfect to get us pepped for the rest of the day. Overall food is 3.5 stars, service and location 4 stars. Food was good tasting, except for the plantains that was too dry. The portions were very small for the price, so I did not feel it was a value. The food ordered did not come with bread, I found this unusual but ordered some anyway, never got it. Wait staff needs better training, he picked up a plate before asking if we were finished. The music is too loud, even asked for it to be turned down... twice. It was still louder than needed.
