I used to eat here all the time when I worked in the area. I happened to be close by and decided to have lunch here. Upon entering, there was great music playing and I was promptly greeted. My waiter was so kind and I remembered him from my previous visits. I ordered the empanada trio, the pescado à la plancha, and a guanabana juice. Everything was fresh and delicious! A real star of a restaurant... I will return when I am the area. I plan on working my way through the menu. I did ask my server for his recommendation and he suggested the vaca frita- fried cow. My friend invited me here for salsa on a Friday night. Although it's a bit of a drive for me, it didn't take long since traffic was nonexistent. Plenty of parking in their large lot. We shared their Tostones Rellenos which were huge and very filling. Although cold by the time I got there, they were still well seasoned with lots of creamy sauces on top. This restaurant saved me after my two sons ran me to death to celebrate Father's Day. The prices are reasonable and the service good. The restaurant was clean, and decorated with a Caribbean vibe. I had the picadillo and the two critters had a mofongo and a Cuban sandwich. The sandwich which they split was quite large and both stated that it was superior to those that they had eaten in their home cities. We came in as a family of six-two adults, two pre-teens, a toddler and an infant. As it has been 4+ years since we were here, there's lots new. The place has been completely renovated: new flooring, bright paint, and updated restrooms. The stage is gone but there is plenty of open dance door space and a conga set and lighting in the corner of that space that lets you know it goes down at the right times. The service remains top notch as does the cooffwe--I'm clearly not going to sleep at a normal hour this evening The food was plated beautifully from the kid's meals to the dinner plates. The children LOVED their food. My 3yo ate up her two cheese quesadillas and asked for more (somethings that never happens!). The 11yo announced that she was "actually full" off her children's meal (also an anomaly). As for the adults, we enjoyed our food but much of the first review remains...wanted a little more flavor. The only draw back for me was the lengthy time of the reviews. 3 months and great. I still decided to check it out. Upon arrival the parking lot showed potential. I ordered the jerk chicken and my friend ordered another chicken dish. Both dishes had dry chicken. Hers was dry but had a good flavor. Mine was dry and lacked flavor. I should've requested only the guava, and beef, but my Husband and I were sharing. So, he ate the one with the chicken. They were delicious. Entree: I ordered the Tortuga's fish. It comes with shrimp, calamari, fish, yellow or white rice, plantains and a salad. It was delicious. My husband ordered Masitas De Puerco and a side salad. His order was huge fried pork, yellow rice, black beans, and plantains. He was very pleased with the food and the amount. It's many adult beverages, entrees, and appetizers here to choose from. Hubby brought us here for dinner after trying it first with his coworkers at lunch a few days before and really enjoying the food. Everything we ordered was very flavorful. Hubby had Lechon Asada at lunch previously and insisted I get it for dinner. It was very tender and delicious. He opted for the Palomilla Steak and although he really enjoyed the flavor, the meat was overcooked and chewy/tough - it's hard to cook steak that is that thin. I had flan for dessert and enjoyed the strawberry sauce that accompanied it on the plate. It was a nice change of pace to chocolate. Service was great and when we dined the restaurant was empty, but as we were leaving three groups were getting seated. We enjoyed a cocktail each and they were tasty but a bit on the weak side, nothing to complain about - just a note for those who prefer stronger drinks. We look forward to returning, but will probably steer clear of the "thin cut" beef dishes. read more

Various people I know have mentioned this is one of their favorite Cuban spot. The place is large and clean with a beach vibe decor going on. To me, the place is not 100% Cuban, more like a Cuban-Puerto Rican mix but it is not bad. Some of their dishes were a bit, I ordered the Vaca Frita, my favorite Cuban dish but I unfortunately was not too impressed, a little on the dry side. The service was descent when we were there, at times attentive but at times we felt rushed to order, to pay, to leave.... not sure why our waiter seemed in a hurry when the place was empty and not late. Went with the tortuga sampler and the grilled fish with rice and salad. The food was delicious and well cooked. Sampler was amazing and we got to taste a lot of appetizers- fried plantains, empanadas (4 halves - 2 beef and 2 chicken), moduros, ham croquettes, and a beef rellenas. The fried items were not oily. My only complaint, I wish we were given a choice of empanadas in the sampler, I really wanted to try the guava/cream cheese and it was not included. This is an awesome little spot and I am surprised it wasn't busier. It's in a quiet little plaza. The yellow rice is absolutely bomb, and their flavors are incredible. I've been looking for a good Cuban spot near my home since the closest place i really like is papi's in Atlanta, and this definitely does it for me. Their lunch menu is very reasonably priced as well, and this is definitely going to be a great place for take out.
