Went to Cody's for the first time in awhile. Was so disappointed! I was excited to order Prime Rib, which actually tasted like boiled steak. There was no seasoning at all! I ate about one quarter of it and couldn't get any further. My husband ordered a half a rack of ribs and sweet potato fries, the fries were no longer orange but a dark brown (burnt to a crisp), the ribs were edible at best, but can't say they were tasty as they were also pretty well burnt. Our server did not bring our dinner, someone else did as he was busy with a large group. I wouldn't have sent my prime rib back anyway...no seasoning would be the same on any piece they gave me. When he came by the table I told him what was going on, his reply "would you like a free baked potato to take home". Really?? I been in Bradenton for seven months. We stopped during the pandemic since it said had carry out! It was a great decision it seems they are under new management and our food was great and fresh! When I am craving an alchoholic beverage and some greasy All-American food, this is the place that I go to over any other steakhouse. They have something from everyone. What kind of steakhouse not only has excellent BBQ/steaks, but also has great hot wings and a Pina Colada to boot? My only complaint is that they are not open for lunch, which makes me sad, because I would be there at least once a week. Every night is 2 for 1 happy hour on all drinks. All of their food items are good, the only thing I would not recommend is their rotisserie chicken, it is quite dry and flavorless. About eight hot wings are $6.99 and come with celery and blue cheese, great price! The French Onion Soup is amazing and flavorful, covered with melted provolone cheese for $4.24. Entrees come with a fresh tossed salad that they mix at the table that is iceberg lettuce, shredded cheddar cheese, red onion, cucumber, tomato, croutons, and garlic ranch dressing (free refills on salad!). Your meal also comes with unlimited sweet butter yeast rolls with a side of whipped cinnamon honey butter. Just that is enough to fill you up. They have early bird specials until 7:00pmand most are under $10.00, as well as a daily specials. I recommend their Chopped Steak (14 oz for $9.89) covered in onions. Baby Back Ribs 1/2 rack for $12.98, and full for $16.98. Comes with a choice of side, and I recommend the loaded baked potato. I wish for nothing more than to one day be able to update my review for Cody's. I only make it to the gulf coast of Florida once or twice a year, and this is somewhere I'd love to stop on each trip. The food was amazing, so my review is almost unfair to the restaurant itself. This trip, however (around 1/14/16) was marred for our table by another table of unhinged children running unchecked through the dining area of the restaurant. They were weaving in and out of our chairs sometimes slamming into the backs and making it hard to concentrate on anything other than where one of them might be at the moment. I brought the situation up to our waiter, and asked if he'd let whoever was running the section the kids were in (I pointed them out to him) that it'd be easier for everyone if the kids made their way to the quarter machine on the open areas that were there to be walked on, rather than running and sliding through chairs that were sometimes 4 inches back to back with a person trying to eat in each. I don't know if anything was ever said, but nothing ever changed and the whole night turned into a letdown. The employees were all friendly and professional, but that was the worst atmosphere I've ever eaten in. I ended up confronting one of the kids myself, and I don't think it should have had to come to that. But I'd had enough, and I was trying to salvage as much decency for my party as the night would allow. read more

We have been going to Cody's on and off for years. A while back the 'new' management was rude and the food mediocre so we quit going. Recently we though why not try it again, we always liked their prime rib. What a surprise, the 'original' management has returned and everything was terrific. This place used to be so good!! The place is falling apart and badly in need of some refurbishments. Went in for dinner. The hostesses (All 3) just stood their and stared at us and said nothing. Made my wife very uncomfortable. Our waitress was nice not much of a sense of humor and seemed to be overwhelmed. Our salad had WAY to much dressing on it after asking the waitress to go light on the dressing. After 30 min the waitress tells us their was an issue with my kids order. Another 30 min goes by and still no food. We walked out and my wife spoke to the manager. He didn't seem to care and never offered anything other than making our food to go. Will not be back. I was visiting my grandparents in Florida. They received a gift card and brought me here for dinner one night. All 3 of us have never been and we're eager to see what it was all about! Our first impression was good, the restaurant was decorated in a way many restaurants aren't and the atmosphere was cool. We ordered drinks and my daiquiri took every bit of 10 minutes to arrive. We then ordered our food. My grandmother got the pot roast. She took a bite and immediately regretted it. She said it was to tough and chewy and sent it back. She then ordered a burger. The burger took 15 minutes to come out. The table next to us ordered the pot roast and sent it back as well. Come to find out it wasn't even pot roast because they ran out and substituted for "prime rib". That would have been nice to know. Our fries were cold as well. The manager and waitress said they would comp her meal, they didn't. We could have went to McDonald's and had a more pleasant experience. If you want to pay good money for mediocre food and service be my guest! We will not return. read more

Truly horrible experience. Should have looked at Yelp reviews, not Google for more accurate rating. I waited well over an hour for my burger while watching people who came in long after we were seated get their food. It was not busy and even if so, that was way too long. The burger was cold, dry and extremely over cooked. The cheese wouldn't even melt on it. The fries could not be eaten. They were dry, hard and cold. They had no flavor and were too cold and dry for the pepper and salt to do any good. My meal was not at all edible and I'm not picky in the least. It was afternoon and I hadn't eaten all day, but couldn't choke the food down. Honestly, it belonged in the garbage. I took two bites and had to ask for a box. My dogs ended up getting the burger smashed and split up in their food. My companion had eaten her soup and was full by the time her food arrived as it had taken over half an hour to get to us by the time the soup was finished. I would have asked them to have my food taken off the ticket, but I didn't want to upset my companion, who already felt bad. I paid $40 for a lunch of sugar water they called tea and peanuts. Been a long time patron of Cody's. Even when they were at their busiest service and food was good. Today we stopped for lunch and sat outside. Took awhile to get waited on but placed our drink order and food order at the same time. Drinks were served quickly but the food was taking forever. After 45 or so min. I went inside to see what the holdup was and was told by our waitress that she placed the order and she couldn't cook it for us. The horror was evident on everyones face that heard it. I requested the bill for the drinks and she darted off. Another gentleman got our bill and we left. This waitress, and I use that term loosely, has no idea of how to handle customers. The rolls with cinnamon butter are phenomenal. The sirloin was delicious and the portions were XXL. Typical of a roadhouse, there were peanuts on the bar. Don't throw the shells on the floor, though! Service was friendly but it seemed like everyone was in a tizzy. The bar maid was slow to take our order. This won't stop me from going back again. My brother-in-law recommended this place for dinner. After reading the reviews here, I had my doubts, but it was his choice, and he'd eaten here often. I can't think of one complaint. We were seated quickly. Our waitress, Maria, was very nice, prompt, and helpful. The food was great. We had the ribs, fish sandwich and chicken quesidillas. Also beer, margaritas and strawberry margaritas, which were two-for-one until 7, which was an unexpected treat. Everything was great, and we will eat there again. I hope anyone considering Cody's gives it a chance, and isn't overly swayed by a few bad experiences. I guess people are generally more motivated to post bad reviews than good ones, which is a shame. read more

Went in on January 3rd just before 9pm. Sign says they close at 10pm. We had eaten there sometime ago and liked the food. This time around, we never ate. A server walked by us 2 while waiting at the hostess station. One of the cooks was just staring at us from the side kitchen. A male server was bs-ing with 2 ladies having dinner. A different male server was walking to the front, sees us says "oh" and turns around and went back. We figured he might have went to get someone. Not the case. Have been going here since they originally opened. Shortly after the pandemic started as every where else they had to close for dining in. Which everyone had to get used to. I've ordered through DoorDash during the pandemic and food was either over cooked or under cooked. Since the pandemic their food and service has gone downhill in quality. When they finally reopened understandably because of the short staff situation everywhere, found that service was slow. But the food was not good at all. it was either over cooked or just not edible. Last time I went which was last Saturday, I get everyone is short staffed, but my complaint is this, why would you schedule only 2 waitresses on a busy Saturday lunch time in a holiday season and then proceed to sit every table available knowing there's not enough help to do all those tables efficiently??!!!. They only care about making their money, and is no longer about their customers. Will never set foot there again. read more

My family met here for dinner this past week. Multiple palmetto bugs ran across our table more than 2 Times. They discounted us $15 off our $150 bill. In my opinion this is terrible. we enjoyed our dinner; the endless salad was fresh with a tasty house dressing; my salmon was lightly blackened per request, moist with a delicious dill sauce; husband's chopped steak was a good-sized portion and cooked as he requested; for dessert, we shared a large slice of carrot cake which we had to take home to finish. I love Cody's roadhouse we go there all the time I especially love Kyle the waiter we always ask for he is very good at what he does and is fun and you can tell he loves his job. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I always have The grilled salmon it is fantastic and it was always put on a bed of rice, now they have raised the price taking away the rice so the customer loses in this change. I feel it would benefit Cody's cporate office talk to their customers. read more
