I got an email from Cody's a couple of days ago stating that they had a Sunday special from 11 AM until 3 PM. It was a full meal for $12.98. I went in today and they had a choice of three things. I chose the brisket over Texas toast. It came with vegetables and my choice of a side. It also came with their endless salad. It also came with their buns with cinnamon butter, and also pumpkin pie for dessert. I ate what I could and brought the rest home and had that for dinner. Everything was excellent, and the service was great. I've always loved their endless salad, but today was the first time I got to take some home. I think this will be a recurring Sunday treat for me, as they do this every Sunday with different entrées. read more

we arrived at 7:30, knowing that they close at 9. We figured they should have been enough time for them to serve us food, but apparently it was not. We ordered drinks and food, but the food never came because they informed us after half an hour waiting that they were out of the food my boyfriend wanted. 15 minutes go by and they tell us that the food I wanted is also out. So after a total of an hour being there, all we got is drinks and we essentially just asked for a bill because I was not going to deal with a waitress that did not know what food they were out of. read more

Well.... The onion rings are very good.... The ribs were dry and tough and we didn't finish them. The setting is very cool being on the lake very close to the center square where all the music is. I will just try other places nearby before re-visiting Cody's. read more

Onion Ring Stack is awesome, we got a half order and it is 5 huge onions rings, enough for two people. The few is great your right on the lake. We also got the pulled pork nachos and I wasn't a fan, the melted cheese on the pork didn't work for me. It's on me though because the menu described it perfectly. Next time maybe ask for the pork on the side. The flavor of the pork was nice. There was a tiny bit of salsa down under the nachos and it tasted nice as well Place was packed and our server did a great job after all it is happy hour two for one drinks all day long. I love Cody's food, there cheese burger is unbelievable, I ordered medium, my husband ordered his medium well, got his until I realize I have his, to done for me. I got onion rings instead of fries for up charge of $2.48 to share with my husband, got two Onion Ring!! Really!!!! They were big but only 2!! That was ridiculous price!! So be prepared if u order onion rings . We love sitting outside and listening to the music. read more

Visiting the Villages for a week and came here for dinner, we were able to get an outside table overlooking the lake. First thing that surprised us was after ordering our drinks, 2 each showed up. We didn't know that was a thing, but luckily we had driven there in our golf cart, so no worries. I ordered the Salmon, my bf got a steak. I was really happy with my salmon, it was a large piece and cooked just right. My bf's steak was also good, cooked medium. We really liked the endless salad, a nice size and good dressing. Even my rice that came with my salmon was pretty good, I usually find rice boring, but this was better. Our waitress and others did a good job. Bonus is the music. There was a woman singing and she seemed familiar with the crowd, a lot of return customers I'm guessing, and bantered with them throughout. There's an open space in front of the singer that people use as a dance floor. This Cody's did a better job then the Brownwood Cody's, but maybe it was just the day we went. Also - Florida - what's up with still letting people smoke everywhere! Cigarettes and cigar smoke at every restaurant we went to - even when you're outside is wafting everywhere. Ugh. On the night of my burger craving last week, Cody's was so packed that I decided to return another day. Good choice for my first ever visit. Grabbed a seat outside at the bar and Natasha threw me some peanuts and a frosty beer. The menu is really expansive and has great choices. The best menu, however, is the bar menu. So many great choices and realistic prices and portions, especially if you want to try a few different plates. I ordered a cheeseburger "slider" and two crispy Parmesan wings, which were hot and crunchy and delicious. The burger was regular size, not a traditional slider, which is great value. I wish it came with onions, though, like the menu said. Since I'm new to Florida, I didn't realize you could smoke on a restaurant patio, which hey! If that's the rule, I'm cool with it...but I had to move inside because right as my food came someone 3 inches from my face lit up. Not a problem. When in Rome! The 2 for 1 all day drink special doesn't work with bottled beer, which is clearly stated on the menu, but next time I'll order a drink or a draft. The house Bloody Mary mix is really good. The superstar of my experience was Natasha. This woman could bartend in any big city: New York, L.A. San Francisco, London...ANYWHERE! She is such a baller, multi-tasker, pouring 20 beers at once ace-in-the-hole legend. Cody's is lucky to have her. Great customer service skills too. Stayed on top of my check, knew everyone's names, etc. Hands-down, the best I've seen since I've been here. I'll definitely be back, but only during the day. read more

I have to say that I am extremely disappointed. We arrived at 5:40 when there was hardly anyone here. Seating was right away and our orders were taken within minutes. Our waitress was even nice. We ordered mozzarella sticks for an appetizer which came out within 5 minutes and very hot. However, we waited 45 minutes for our food which came mostly at room temp. My onion rings were the best thing and hot. My burger had mostly raw bacon and was not the greatest. We both ordered burgers at medium well. Mine came out well and my family members came out medium rare. My family members fries never even came out with his food and had to ask for it to go since they didn't even bring them. It was really disappointing. Every time we saw other people's good (mostly steak plates) they looked amazing and were steaming. It is rare for me to give low star reviews and this is just one of those. Kids meals were free (kids eat free Monday and Tuesday) so that's a plus. Establishment was clean even though there's peanuts available. Staff were respectful and nice. Food thumbs down. read more

We stop in tonight because it's Wednesday and that means two for one fajitas ! It was a good choice! I have never had fajitas where there was more meat than veggies. My hubby ordered chicken and beef, I had shrimp and chicken, and we shared. The chicken was perfect as expected, the beef was surprisingly tender and tasty, but the shrimp, although tasty was a bit mushy. So next fajita night will be chicken and beef for sure! I would have taken a picture of the fajitas, but they looked so good I did not, so the pic is the scenery from our table. It was a bit of a wait. I ordered the Fresh Scallops which were clearly breaded frozen ones. The all you can eat salad was wilted brown lettuce. The Happy Hour 2 for 1 glasses of wine was half wine and half water. It was so ridiculous that we just paid and got out of there. Any complaint would have gone right over their heads if they can't tell the difference between fresh scallops, a crisp salad and a good glass of wine. Hopefully not Florida's finest! read more

Hubby and I stopped in for a drink, (had a total of 4 between us, one was a double) for a cost of 67.00. After checking our bank account we were charged twice. Called and spoke to the manager was told it happened to everyone that evening, and they were working with the credit card company, my refund would appear in 2-3 days. Nope! Called again asking for email address and was given an invalid email address twice. One month later and now we're being told it's on us to get this fixed by doing a dispute via our bank. Food on the floor. Filthy bathroom (urine on floor, etc). Lengthy wait times, but plenty of empty tables (staffing issues?). The calamari was over cooked and rubbery, and they didn't bring plates, so we had to eat off the serving dish. Chicken fried steak was just so-so, breading falling off, and bland. Hotdogs were missing ingredients, and no mustard was brought out (putting catsup on a dog is a sin where we come from). Manager was stressed due to staff 'problems' (police were called), and we can relate; however, she wasn't really listening to us. We didn't care about getting stuff taken off the bill. We just wanted them to understand what the issues were. Her thought was that if she comp'd some food we will come back. Not sure how likely that is. Cody's at Sumter Landing is one of my favorite restaurants. The staff works really hard to see that the customers are served respectfully and timely. Mgr. Cortnie is a great asset and seems to keep the operation moving and she does it in a friendly professional way. Keep smiling Melissa is another very hard worker that always gets the job done, right the first time...kudos to Melissa The prices are reasonable and the food is great, from the delicious hot yeast rolls to the bountiful salad and super tasty steaks and chops. The Pro's...the one man band was awesome last night. The con's..upon arrival I ordered the 2 for 1 beer happy hour special...I too 20 minutes before I received my drinks. They weren't all that cold either. I ordered the ribeye dinner with wings as an appetizer. About another 20 minutes before the wings arrived. Was given 1 napkin. After eating a few wings I asked for a couple more napkins, waitress said sure. About 10 minutes later another person arrived at my table to tell me my they were out of my side of mashed potatoes. My server then came back, no napkins, but to ask if I wanted another happy hour drink as it was just about done. I said sure, and can I get some more napkins? She said sure. Steak arrived and it was not medium rare as ordered, more like well done. Server came back with my drink, still no napkins. Asked how my steak was, told her it was not medium rare, she said that's not right, and walked away. About 10 minutes later she came back and said, "did I ever give you more napkins"? Told her she did not. By now I just wanted to be done, ate the over cooked steak and side I didn't order initially. The food is average unfortunately. I REALLY wish they'd step up their game on the quality. I'd rather pay more and have good food instead of whatwe have been receiving each time we're there. The menu has plenty of options but they need some good cooks in the kitchen. The wait staff does a great job. The two for one drinks is nice but you end up almost guzzling them in order to drink one before the ice melts which only ruins them. We like Cody's and want to see them stay in The Villages but I'm not hearing anything good from other people about the food. So, it worries me they won't last if they do not improve their food. I'm shocked that reviews have this place so low! We come to Cody's every time we visit my parents in the Villages and we've never had a bad experience. The food is always fresh and good, and there is live music a good bit of the time too. Kids eat free on Mondays AND Tuesdays, and the kids meals have excellent options - including steak on a stick, which my girls love. The salmon is delicious. The salad that comes with most meals is really good too, and the dressing is house made. My only complaint is that it always seems to take forever to get the food out, but I chalk that up to it being fresh. Also, if you have a peanut allergy, this place isn't for you. (It's one of those throw your peanut shells on the floor kind of places, which of course my kids love!) read more

They are both very helpful in making recommendations and making sure that our drinks are always full. Worst service my wife and I have had in quite sometime. Pained us to leave a tip. Burger rare, ordered medium, chicken, 1 step above desert dry. Waitress rude when she decided to stop by. That did not include checking on how we liked our food or to, heaven forbid, get a refill. I felt I was putting her out just ordering a Coke to drink. Table dirty with crumbs and seats were the same. I'm not sure why all the negative reviews! This place was very good and by good I mean the food was delicious! I was visiting my aunt who I haven't seen in about 4-5 years and they immediately took us to lunch near their home. In the villages which is a town in Florida that people apparently flock to when they retire you must be 55 and over, but the cool thing is everyone gets a gold cart and so many great amenities. This restaurant happens to be in The Villages town square and it's right on a beautiful lake. They have golf cart parking because that's the main source of transportation for people that live in the Village. The food: I ordered off the early bird menu. The lunch menu is from 12-3 and the early bird menu is 3-6. We arrived at 2:57 but I didn't want to be pushy tourist, Charles. I ordered the salmon it comes three different ways: blackened, herb crusted, or sautéed. I chose blackened with a baked sweet potato and they laid the salmon on a bed of rice. The portions were excellent and the cook on the salmon was perfect. It's one of those places where you can eat peanuts and throw them on the floor so I was already in my walk on peanut shells happy place. The service was good every meal came with salad so they brought out two bowls and we all shared the salads. I'm told that Cody's is all over so I will be looking for more locations on my next visit to Florida. read more

2.5 would be a better option for Cody's. This is a stop in, relax and enjoy a burger and a beer kind of place. Casually comfortable and a relaxed atmosphere. The menu covers it all...burgers, nachos, chicken and pork...lots of choices. the food was mediocre and of the entrees (it was ordered late, after the other meals were already in) was forgotten and never arrived. In fairness, our server seemed to be spread pretty thin and was doing her best but could be used some help. I'd return and give it another chance only because I think the waitress was pulling double duty and under better circumstances she would've been able to do better. read more

I had to ask the manager where our food was? Someone brought it to us minutes later and it was cold. We ordered the Fajitas. The manager took 30 minutes to come back and check on us! He Did Absolutely NOTHING- completely useless. All he said was that he was sorry and couldnt come by because he was busy. Yep, he was right . He is sorry. Then I had to go to the bar to get a drink because my server was barely available. After I did, the Head Floor manager told us that we were not supposed to do that! My response was," what am I supposed to do when there is no service?" My advice is go to Gators next door. read more

I was extremely disappointed with the service I received at the Cody's restaurant. I strongly advise against dining at this establishment. After an excruciating wait of 1 hour and 20 minutes, the manager came over to our table to inform us that our food would be with us momentarily as it was ordered 21 minutes earlier. This was a complete lie by a manager. It was a dreadful example of mismanagement. Needless to say, I will never be returning to Cody's and cannot in good conscience give them more than a 1 star rating. read more
