If i could post negative stars, I would. I have experienced bad service 3 nights in a row at this location. Service sucks, manager sucks, server sucks, and food is mediocre. Night 1 my food was delivered to another table but then offered to me after other customers had it.... Night 2,I had 5 people including myself. All 5 plates were wrong. Are you into overcooked steaks? Do you like the wrong side? Then this place is for you... when you mention to your server that your food is wrong, she'll have you "pinky swear" so you can't complain. Wtf is that? Night 3. 7 people total. Our menus were taken away before we could place the order. We sat for almost 2 hours without food. We canceled our order and were told by neighboring tables that they thought we were just hanging out. When we asked for a manager, she was condescending and rude. Other tables noticed and commented. Our first visit to this Cody's Roadhouse was less than stellar. Pros: Atmosphere is pleasant and comfortable, typical bar and grill with kitschy decor. Music is not too loud and restaurant is not too cold. Menu is extensive. Entry staff was friendly and pleasant. Prices on some items are moderate. Cons: There are no plant based entrees nor are there veggie toppings for bread and sweet potatoes on the menu. Our server was brusque, impatient and inattentive. She practically threw things on the table before rushing away. Prime rib was raggedly cut and much more fat than meat. Server had mixed a creamy dressing into the salad after we asked that dressings and sauces be served on the side. Thus the salad was inedible to one of us, so between having no plant based entree and no salad, I was reduced to making a meal of a plain baked sweet potato and dry dinner roll. Due to the inattentive server, we had no opportunity to complain. There's no point in our returning to Cody's. read more

Maybe I'm feeling peer pressure by not giving Cody 4 stars. I really liked the place is big and can accommodate a lot of people. The place is situated on a beautiful lake. The bar is big. Plenty of seating inside or out. It's 2022 and the service is what it is, which in my experience wasn't half bad. We did wait while the host juggled phone calls and acknowledged us. The food portions are huge and the house salad served tableside in a giant metal bowl was to die for. who knew iceberg lettuce was so tasty. I had the shrimp/beef poke bowl. Great flavor and a ton of food. I/2 of chicken was on point as well as coconut shrimp. The prices considering what is happening with inflation were very reasonable Granted we arrived a little before noon so the place wasn't too busy but all in all, it was a great experience. The people of the Villages are very lucky to have an eating establishment like Cody's as a restaurant choice. Support them, they are worth not losing! read more

My parents live down in the Villages and really love this place. Though they have some good deals and early bird specials, I'm generally left just a little bit underwhelmed with my actual meal. The wait staff seems to be working and hustling around but often it seems they may just be understaffed with long wait times for tables, a server or for your actual meal. I like that most of the meals come with a nice salad, and yeast rolls that are pretty yummy. The scallops are a pretty good deal and one of the better meals I've had here. The environment is a bit more casual and fun with peanuts you can eat and throw on the floor. It's not my favorite place down here, but decent for casual steakhouse type dining at a reasonable price. read more

Went to Cody's twice this week, both Monday and Wednesday. We had six of us on Wednesday, all of us having the special (fajitas). After a while, two of the orders came out and we waited an additional 10 minutes for the other 4 orders. The original two orders were piled with meat while the other four were skimpy at best...we laughed at the size difference. The worst part on both nights was "HAPPY HOUR". Apparently it only goes till 7 o'clock. Monday the waitress showed up at 7:03 and Wednesdays waitress showed up at the table at 7:07 and both times charged full price for our drinks ($6.75) for a pint. We couldn't find our waitress on either night 15 minutes before happy hour but couple of minutes after, there they were. Never again. read more

Went to Cody's on a Thursday evening. Ordered the Filet with mashed potatoes. The filet had to be sent back twice and I asked for it to be cooked medium, not well done. After the second time I dealt with the steak but it was still on the lower side of medium rare. I have no problems eating a medium rare to rare steak if it is a good steak but this filet had no flavor. They try to add flavor by pouring some sauce on it which was not very good. The mashed potatoes where also flavorless. Would rather eat Burger King or McDonalds then go back to Cody's. read more

It took forever just to grab her attention and then we placed an order...did order rum and coke they had no rum, ordered gin and tonic and no gin, ordered 7 and 7 yep no Seagram's .....waited well over an hour for our food my husband said "listen just give me the tab and cancel the food order" she said whatever, and he told her she sucked as a server and she yells at everyone in the bar - Hey do I suck as a bartender??? then said because this guy right here sucks as a customer. My steak was a perfect medium rare. Enjoyed our salad, that seems to be served table-side with every entree. We were seated in less than 10 minutes on a Saturday night. The owner came over to every table to make sure everything was good. He was nice to chat with and I enjoyed his commitment to making sure everyone was happy. Hard to find a better spot for this type of restaurant (low/moderately priced family steak house w/many options). Live music (it's good!) - seating indoors or on the large covered patio on lake Sumter (super Views!!) - wide selection of beef, chicken and some fish options - early dining specials. Service is consistently very good (minus one poor experience with a male manager). We eat here weekly. Stopped in last night with another couple to try the two for one special on fajitas. Overall, not a bad experience and we'll probably be back, either this location or we may try another. First the pros - very cool location and atmosphere, happy hour drink specials (we took advantage of the two for one draft beers), the aforementioned fajita special, decent service from Lauren, probably one of the best carrot cake desserts we've ever had, and the wait for a table wasn't too bad. The cons - took forever to get our food after ordering, and for some reason our beef fajitas consisted of half the quantity of two others in our party and they were well done compared to medium for the others. Our fajitas were also 95% onions, almost no peppers. A draft Yuengling costs $6.75, which is why they can afford to offer two for one. I've ate there twice and the experience was very much the same. 1st time it was BOGO on fajitas, our server was not very good and seemed annoyed that she was waiting on us. When the food came out it wasn't hot and tasted very salty. I definitely wouldn't recommend the fajitas. EVERY TIME I dined with Cody's somehow you manage to mess up my order and dining experience! You might need to hire new staff, especially in your kitchen and at your Bar! First visit I was sitting in a booth with my fiancé and waitress brought my fiancé beer but sadly I waited almost 30 minutes for a margarita, I noticed it sitting on the bar top all that time; could not find my waitress anywhere! She disappeared and never was seen again! I approached the bar and told your bar back I needed a new margarita on the fly and explained the sadness of my first visit, so let's go a lil further into my dinner, another person brought our dinner out my porch chop was sadly bloody inside, and no it was not from being smoked, it was not cooked properly- undercooked! Everybody apologized and said it would not happen again, then 2nd time dining with it was my fiancés birthday, so I thought to try your restaurant again- well imagine it was screwed up again, no drink again brought to my table, couldn't find my waited but I found another server; I expressed my aggravation of not having my drink "AGAIN" Finally they came to my table and told me that my waitress never placed my Margarita order and that you no longer served Mango margarita! I got really upset and showed my ugly side then at the end of that dining experience all your staff tried to appease us because we were so upset they samy Happy Birthday and brought my fiancé a free dessert! Hubs and I came in for a kinda late for The Villages standard dinner, 7:30ish. We opted for Cody's because we figured they'd have something we both liked. I had trouble deciding. So many things on the menu that sounded YUMMY! I decided on the combo fajitas add guacamole, no green peppers, no pico de gallo, and the Hubs ordered the Chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and white gravy. And an order of Onion Straws as an appetizer. The service is slow...like, real slow. Our server brought out salad and rolls. The rolls come with a cinnamon butter, reminds me of the stuff you put on your breakfast toast, we opted not to use it, the salad is amazing! Our drinks sat unfilled for quite awhile. Our server finally brought out our food and left. No appetizer ever showed up! Our server didn't come back out to check on us, we had to flag down the hostess and ask for my tortillas and guacamole that was not brought out with my meal. The tortillas were hard, the steak burned, the chicken dry, I gave up. The hubs said his food was really good! Our server appeared, asked if we were having dessert? Uh, no! Check please! Cody's is far from being a legitimate steakhouse. The food was mediocre but the warm rolls to the table made up for the over-salted, poorly cooked beef. We made the mistake of asking for a table outside ... it was very loud and hard to have conversation with the table. The service was S.L.O.W. but at least the server was friendly. We had a party of 5 and both my kids (7&9) had kids menus in front of them. My son ordered a hamburger and the other chicken fingers. I was charged full-price for an adult burger and my other son was delivered chicken wings?! I didn't notice the overcharge on the bill (at this point there were multiple servers helping out table) and gave my card so we could leave... after paying I saw this mistakes and the servers response "oh you wanted them to have the kids portions!?" We have been here a number of times now. Their Ribs are one of the best I had, served with their own BBQ sauce. Yum! If you like your onion rings to be the size of a tractor tire, this is your place. (Wings are ok, but not more than that, I would rather have them at another place, being a wing lover.) Last night I think our waitress had a bad day, smiles where not even possible to order as extras... With that said I would like you to know, that is very unusual. When we went into Cody's last night there were a lot of empty tables and a lot of servers wandering around. We still had to wait to be seated and once we were seated waited over 20 minutes for a waitress. Half our food was missing. One of the servers brought over a dish of fried fish and told us that some of the fish had fallen to the floor and they would bring some more. 45 minutes later when everybody was done eating the fish finally appeared. We were missing vegetables and side dishes. Our french fries were soggy and the mozzarella sticks were cold and soggy. I would give this restaurant zero reviews if I could. We requested a manager and was told by a server that the manager was nowhere to be found. I don't blame the server at all but I think the management needs to be looked at. read more

Really wanted to love it here but there's some things to be worked on unfortunately. First, our service was not the best. We asked for a side of ranch twice (and even asked another server) and never got it. Our server seemed very annoyed that we had already gotten drinks from the bar during our 20 min wait to be seated saying "well I see you guys already have drinks so I guess we will move on to food". We did ask for a couple waters which we never saw either. (We only had two other small groups sat at tables in our section outside, so I dont believe it was a busy night for them either) as a server myself I understand our waitress may have had other tables inside to which I gave her the benefit of the doubt until I went to the restroom and saw her standing in there on her phone. :( As for the food, I ordered a Caesar salad with shrimp that had lettuce, (tiny) shrimp and barely any dressing. No cheese or croutons? My husband ordered the scallops which were very rubbery and over cooked however ate them after trying to wave a server down for over 15 minutes. Our waitress seemed very flustered and even made a comment to us about how stressed she was about another table that didn't tip her well. Weird customer service? Anyway, I would give five stars to our bartender who was awesome! Polite and attentive. Giving two stars to the atmosphere of the place being on the water and clean restrooms. read more

Hungry for Cody's !!! Buyer beware!!! I live in Ocala and I drove to the villages instead of the new Ocala Restaurante. !! We'll worth it. The team at Cody's lead by manager Cody Joyce was exemplary. Food was delicious and Mandy our server took care of us attentive and timely. Even the chef Sam came out to make sure the steak was done right. Manager Cody checked on us twice for no reason. He was very personable easy to speak to and dressed Proffessional. I'm sure his team feel they can talk to him. This is complete a 180 from what I experienced at Cody's I. How can you screw up a roadhouse theme. After waiting and waiting they accidentally scatched us off the wait list. Service was slow.... Place was dirty. Salad and rolls were good. Porterhouse steak was garbage. Sweet potato looked old and tired. Crab cakes probably the worst I've ever had. To be honest after eating at 4 restaurants in villages they were all mediocre to bad. Location brings in so much business they can just sell crap at a premium price and get away with it. Scwartz needs to enforce some quality control for their cut of receipts. I will look at outlying establishments who actually have to work at getting business in the door and respect keeping a repeat customer. read more

Will I return with a party of eight again. HELL NO Three of the prime ribs were like shoe leather. The manager did replace two of them. Some what better, not much. Wine is served in a glass that looks like a scratched water glass with a stem added on. Our late arriving guest ordered a steak medium rare. It was burnt on the outside and raw on the inside. By then we were so disgusted we wouldn't even let them throw it back on the grill as the manager suggested. I asked the waitress three times for a glass of water. This is off season, you would think they could handle the sparse crowd. PS: I think the many flies inside this restaurant enjoyed the meal ten times better than any off us. PSS: the waitress seemed upset that she only got an 18% tip. Dear owners if business is slowing down it may not only be because it is off season, take a good look at the quality of cooking and cleanliness of your restaurant. Additionally more training of the waiters and cooks would allow the managers time to meet and greet the customers. Seems like they spend more time being apologetic.
