Poe Signature Drink & Key Lime Cheesecake Bite 08-17-2022
    Alana M.

This is one of those local coffee shops that you could stay at all day long! I was out and about and wanted to start my day with coffee. I found this place on Yelp, and the pictures looked interesting enough for me to come give them a try! I'd never heard of The Drowsy Poet Coffee. I like the name! The table I chose to sit at had cards with quotes from various Poets on it. There is a public restroom and they offer free Wi-Fi for their guests. Yay! I ordered the Poe Signature Drink (Iced) and a Szotski's Key Lime Cheesecake Bite. The coffee was superb! It is an Espresso with Steamed Milk, Chocolate, Raspberry, and topped off with Whipped Cream. That Key Lime Mini-Cheesecake was so good, too!! They have a good sized menu! You can get Pastries, Bagels, Sandwiches, Salads, and Soup. There's Ripple Machine there, but I'm not sure it is in use. I saw it after I had already ordered my coffee. This machine puts art on your hot coffee. I didn't see any pictures of coffee with images on Yelp for this location. This shop has a lot of Knick Knacks for sale. It was fun to look at the merchandise while waiting for my coffee! I stayed a little longer than I had intended, but that's okay! I would definitely return to try another coffee and a Mini-Cheesecake!

The best coffee shop in Pace! Great ambiance where you can study in a corner or meet up with a friend to catch up. They have a great food selection of pastries, sandwiches, bagels etc. The staff is very friendly. They have a drive through as well for on the go. I have been going here for years and will continue to come.

So I found this place by coincidence and let me tell you I am so glad I did. I am in town working and called up to ask if they had inside seating and when I heard they did I grabbed my laptop and headed right over. Once I arrived I grabbed my coffee and a table and began working. Now from the moment I walked in i knew this place was a cool little local cafe. But things got way better as time went on. As I'm sitting working I hear off in the distance music playing. I say to myself that has a familiar sound. I then look to my friend and say, "is that gospel music?" To my surprise it is. Now I know for many this isn't something to be excited about but for me it is. And no it's not why I'm giving them a 5 star it's way way more. So fast forward I find out this is a place owned by a man of faith and he's a great owner. I had a great conversation with him. But I find out that this cafe actually has food they make and pastries that are made locally. Cinnamon rolls and the brownie wowza!!! But it all gets even better. They have NITRO! Yes you read that correctly they actually have heaven in a cup!!! I have been in town now approximately 2 weeks and honestly think I have been here 12 days out of the 2 weeks. The staff is out if this world friendly, the coffee amazing, see above they have NITRO, and the food taste great. So much of this cafe brings joy to my soul. I've traveled and have always wanted to own my own cafe and I can tell you if it's as half as amazing as the Coffee Break then I've definitely made it. Don't just take my word for it go in and see Jazzy, summer, Riley, Kiersten and the rest of the crew. You will feel like you are part of the family from the moment you walk in. The worst part is knowing one day my work here will be done and I'll have to leave the coffee break cafe :(

Table area and great place to hang out and have mtgs or be with friends and have coffee!

We had the tenderloin tips with chimichurry and while the flavor was good, it was not cooked right. It was a little watery. Also had the bbq shrimp wrapped in bacon. That was excellent. But 6 shrimp for $18 is a bit much. The pesto feta dip was mostly feta dip, not much pesto. The Brussel sprouts were very good. Our server Sam is very engaged and made the visit very positive. You need to give her a raise. Drinks were also very good and trendy. I will say the chocolate Blackberry Bread pudding is the best dessert I've had in a long time even if it needed more chocolate. Like I said, we will be back and we will enjoy it but I hope they kick up the quality of the food a bit to make up for the prices. All said, good job Pace!

Unfortunately, each visit seems to reinforce the same issues rather than show improvement. The biggest concern is the overall culture and customer experience. Interactions with staff have often felt unprofessional, dismissive, and at times outright toxic. A welcoming atmosphere starts with the people representing the business, and that has consistently been lacking. The food and service are equally inconsistent. One visit might be acceptable, while the next brings long wait times. Went for a girls night and waited 35 minutes to be waited on and a drink order. Was not busy and attempted to order food at the same time which was told they did not have. Mind you this was at 6:00. Although there are not many options in Pace do not waste your time or money.

The place is really quaint with a warm, inviting atmosphere. The menu includes a great variety of different items. The soup of the day was a green chili chicken stew that sounded too good to pass on, so I ordered that along with a side of Gouda grits and a side of sautéed green beans. The grits were delicious! The green beans were very good; and the soup was good. My wife ordered the Philly Cheesesteak with sweet potato criss-cut fries. The fries were bomb! The sandwich was okay, she was trying to figure out what was missing. On the way home she realized it was missing cheese. A cheesesteak without cheese?!?! Service was very good. Our server was attentive without being overbearing. This bistro is not cheap by any stretch, but it is good and I'm sure we'll return.

This…read morewas the fancy place in town to go to if you had a hot date, or for before you go to prom. I never made it out, though, until I moved away, got a job, and then came back to visit recently. I went out to explore downtown Milton some, checked out Blackwater State Park, and got hungry and decided to finally come check this place out for lunch. So we drove up, got a table, and started browsing the pamphlet they gave us of the history of the building. It was a quaint little read. The restaurant is in an old house that had many different lives over the course of its existence. It was wooden, comfortable, had a nice bar built into it. Very cozy and rustically upscale. The service was also very good. A nice lady that tended to all of our drink needs. Very pleasant. And the food came out in a timely fashion. As for the food, we started with the The Sampler (A mixture of our house favorites: Artichoke cheesecake, Baguette, Loaded Brussel Sprouts with Shrimp, Coconut Shrimp with Mango Chutney). This was nice. I love a good savory cheesecake, you don't see that very often. It was very interesting loading the sprouts with shrimp, but I've never said no to a shrimp. And the coconut shrimp were pretty standard. It was a good plate, but not mind-blowing, if you wanna try a different app. My main was the Creole Crawfish & Andouille Pot Pie (Louisiana Crawfish, Savory Vegetables, Andouille, Cajun Cheese Cream, Puff Pastry). This is a loose-leaf pot pie. So basically a gumbo with a puffy piece of puff pastry on top. So it's a lot of fun, but don't expect a lot of crust with each bite. Super creamy, super Cajun in the seasoning, no regrets getting this. I also got to try the The Blue Salad (Filet of Beef. Signature Assorted Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion, Cucumber, Bleu Cheese, Balsamic Vinaigrette, Candied Pecans, Bleu Cheese Dressing). This was a good salad! Nice and tender strips of filet, funky bleu cheese, sweet and crunchy pecans. I love a nice interesting salad like this. Nothing boring involved. And a ton of that delicious dressing. Overall, the Bistro was well worth the wait. Good vibes, good food. I'd come back.
