Hands down the nicest staff around. I was on a Boy Scout outing to Pensacola and we needed a place for 55 people to eat on a Sunday morning. I was so excited to try this place...and been here a couple times now. Food = delicious. I've tried their tomato gravy with biscuits, omelette and egg breakfast with sausage. I'm a huge fan of tomato gravy (my s.o. makes at home) so I'm happy to find a legit place that has it! Service = attentive, friendly. Gotta love the camaraderie between staff members. We found this little gem on our beach trip. We went for a late breakfast and got a booth. The restaurant has been here for many years and the place was very bare bones in furniishings but the atmosphere was popping with everyone on their toes! I ordered thee chocolate chip pancakee with whip cream. My sis got the biscuits and sausage gravy. Both were to die for! YUMMY!! Coffee was fresh and perfect! Our server was def on point. No packages anything here! Dash of this and handful of that... flour, salt, fresh sausage and eggs, grits that you will NEVER taste anywhere else that have been handed down for 75 years! The Coffee Cup is absolutely fantastic, it will be a must-stop breakfast every time I am in Pensacola. I came in on a Sunday with a few friends, we waited a little bit for a table as it was pretty late in the morning and pretty busy at restaurant with folks coming in after church, but the staff was incredible and got us on the waitlist and checked on us multiple times letting us know the wait. Let me tell you, the food is most definitely worth the wait. I had the biscuits and gravy and a side of hashbrowns. The gravy was delicious and probably the best I've ever had. The biscuit was huge and was just what I needed. My friends ordered the French toast, a strawberry topped waffle and a 2 egg breakfast. The food came out quickly, our server was fantastic and the coffee is great. The owner, Jon, is a fantastic person that is keeping this landmark alive! Overall, all of the staff were kind and helpful, they were working their butts off! We are always looking for a mom and pop place when we're out of town. This was definitely a winner!! Nestled down in the middle of a quaint section of town, great parking available. Indoor and outdoor seating. We were greeted with a smile and a manager upon entering, told to sit wherever and make yourself comfortable. Waitress was pleasant and knew the menu well when asked questions, even offered a sample of the Nassau grits! They were great but definitely an acquired taste. I had the omelet, others in my party had, eggs, bacon, country ham, grits, hash browns, waffles and pancakes, portions filled the plate - I heard nothing but good reviews within our party. It took a little longer, 30min, to get our food, the manager personally came to the table to apologize, update us on our order status, and ask if we needed anything. They were kind of busy and nobody was sitting and doing nothing! Everyone seemed to be helping the other, very refreshing family atmosphere - very appreciated in the times we're living!! I've been there twice with my boyfriend and can't wait to go back!! They have a basic menu and I wasn't impressed at the time until I tasted my food! IT WAS AWESOME!! Its like they perfected each dish on the menu! No boring or tasteless food here! Its REAL food that's REAL GOOD!!!! Yesterday my son and I went to The Coffee Cup for the very 1st time and let's just say if you have never been YOU have to go! My son is a very picky eater so we only have a handful of places he will eat. Yesterday on his way to school he wanted some breakfast so I convinced him to give this place a try, not letting him know that I haven't even eaten here before. Let's just say we ate breakfast here again today. He had the French Toast which is actually deep fried and LOVED it.All he talked about was how good the FT was and how great our server DJ treated us. Today she waited on us again and even remembered he had to be at school at a certain time and made sure he was able to eat and get to school on time. I do not know how I have lived here 35+ years without trying this diner, but I can say with the great food, great prices and amazing service we received a new morning tradition has begun! read more

This is a neat little diner. It's definitely got a home town feel to it. There are plenty of regulars from the looks of it and with a place that's been open since 1945 and staff that's been there 18+ years I'm sure this has been a stop for many generations here in Pensacola. The history and reputation made this a stop out of pure curiosity while we were traveling. We sat at the quaint little counter area which was a happening spot for conversations with your neighbor and the fast paced service of the waitresses and cooks. I agree with some of the reviewers that this place could use a deep cleaning. But in regards to the cleanliness of my food being prepared I wasn't worried. It is a very laid back atmosphere so don't expect 5 star fine dining. However, I will say the food that I ordered was delicious and the portion size was good. We were just in town for a work trip and happened to drive past this amazing breakfast spot. Customer service was a 20 on a scale of 1-10 and we would have dined her just based on that but the food was also amazing. We came by on a weekday morning rush and the patio server wasn't scheduled to come in for another hour but they didn't hesitate to seat us where we wanted and they did so with a smile. Went to Coffee Cup this morning for a late breakfast. It was great! I would definitely recommend it for a Waffle House style breakfast, but a little more unique and friendly. I got one biscuit with tomato gravy, small side of Nassau grits and a side of sausage patties and coffee. Everything was great! Huge portions, I was only able to eat half the biscuit, one sausage and a few bites of the grits but it was all really good. I've never had tomato gravy and I really liked it. Biscuits and gravy have always been one of my favorites. The grits were good, but I think I would have liked cheese grits better. My boyfriend ordered a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich with a side of Nassau grits and orange juice. He enjoyed it also and finished his plate. Wait was a little long but the service was fast and excellent. We got our food within 5 min of sitting down. Everyone was very friendly. Place was packed out and not slowing down, you can definitely tell it's a favorite. Our bill came to 20$ before tip and I have enough food leftover for breakfast tomorrow. Loved this place. It's pretty bare bones, typical diner, but there was a lot of love in that meal and at a reasonable price. I got a pecan waffle. I think the menu says it is topped with pecans, but the pecans were actually cooked into the waffle and it was perfect. I was surprised it came with bacon, which was also very good and it was for under 5 bucks. In my home town, would have cost at least 8. My wife got the Nassau grits which I cannot recommend enough.
