Cute trinkets at the shop
Kat C.

As long-standing visitors of Estes Park, we've always gone to one particular coffee shop. Lately though, the coffee hasn't been as good and the wait has been way too long, so I decided to check out Coffee on the Rocks based on the positive reviews online and from people we know. It definitely did not disappoint. The coffee is top notch, an A+ in my book...and the speed at which they make it is also on point. I almost took away a star because during one visit they skipped forward through a Journey song, which is definitely a no-no for me, but I decided to let it slide... for now. They have a great selection of specialty lattes, and the deck ambience is hard to beat. You can feed the ducks, spot some deer, and just enjoy the wildlife along the river while you sip your coffee. We have for sure found our new coffee spot for our Estes Park visits going forward.

My wife and I stopped by Coffee on the Rocks on November 15th during our anniversary trip to Estes Park, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our day. I'm pretty new to the world of coffee, so it was great to get helpful feedback on what to try. Both my drink and my wife's were amazing--fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Mine came out at the perfect temperature for a chilly afternoon, which made it even better. One of the best parts of the visit was the park area behind the shop. It's a beautiful spot to unwind, take in the scenery, and just enjoy the quiet charm of the city. Sitting out there with great coffee made us fall even more in love with Estes Park. Highly recommend stopping here--whether you're a longtime coffee lover or just getting into it like me.

I love this coffee spot. After a hike in the park it's our go to. They have great flavor combinations and who can resist the outdoor space? There's plenty of places to sit outside and watch the ducks in the pond while you sip on your coffee.

Best coffee in Estes! We love to go here to have breakfast and coffee while we sit by the river and enjoy watching the ducks. The line is usually out the door so best to get here early but a testament to how great they are! Staff are always friendly as well.

line was out the door, but staff kept it moving FAST. Incredible views and great coffee. Food was perfect and didn't take long despite the 30+ people ahead of us and 30+ people behind. You can purchase food for kiddos to feed the ducks while you enjoy mountain and river views and wait for your food/drink. Really great spot!

Boozy coffee is magic on a cold day of vacation. I tried the Pumpkin Pucker, which was your typical pumpkin spice with Baileys Orish cream. Was $12.50, which is fair for a mixed drink. Beautiful scenic views and seating areas.

Even though we had to stand in line for about 30 minutes to an hour, it was worth it!! I will always appreciate a place that offers a gluten-free options and substitutions. For some reason, the stuff that works here, they are all cool as cucumbers. It may sound cliché, but this is a cult classic

I think this place is lovely. First of all, you really can't beat the setting. There's a gorgeous stream with plenty of seating along the shore. The wildlife is very acclimated to human interaction, so be ready to make some new friends. The stuff I ordered was also very good. For food, we got some bacon egg bites. They were exactly what you'd expect out of coffee shop egg bites, which is not at all a bad thing. My drink was great, I got a watermelon cucumber and mint refresher (was looking for caffeine at that point in the day) and it was everything I hoped it'd be. I think it's a tough layout for dealing with a rush of customers, so we ended up with quite a wait, but everyone working there was very pleasant. Intestinal Impact Index Rating: 1/5 - had I gone with coffee this certainly would be higher, but safe choices were made today in preparation for a long drive home.

Americano & ducks

Service was great, got an Americano. It was a cute little pond with ducks you can feed. Stayed and watched and walked around by the Creekside. Beautiful area to have a coffee at.

We stopped here before a trip to Rocky Mountain NP and are glad we did. We came mid-week in September and it wasn't crowded. They have fun latte flavors and I got the cake batter? Or cake something one. It was sweet, but to be expected for the flavor I chose. My husband has a gluten allergy and had a question about the egg bites. The employee was unsure but grabbed the box for my husband to read the ingredient list. We took our coffees outside and the ducks and geese curiously checked us out and hung around. It was a fun extra with the geese and ducks and pretty mountain views.

We ordered an iced caramel macchiato and an iced vanilla latte! So soo good - best coffee I've had in a while!! I wish I was local this would be my routine stop! The atmosphere was so laid back and they are efficient Feeding the ducks corn they sell for $1 per cup was so fun and of course the views . Make sure you add this stop to your itinerary!!

Alice Z.

Tried their chai tea latte for a post hike snack. Overall tasty but a little too much ice -so the flavors were not very bold

Beautiful views! Absolutely worth the stop. You can buy a cup of corn for $1 to feed the ducks and geese. Drinks were amazing, had so many different flavors/combinations.

Ask the Community - Coffee on the Rocks

Are there vegan food options? Are there milk alternatives?

I'm not sure about the vegan options- they have quite a few baked goods in the store that rotate daily so it's worth calling and asking. Their regular menu is posted online, but most if not all have eggs (scrambles, burritos, etc). They do have milk…

Do they allow dogs in the outside area?

We’ve been there a couple of times and we’ve seen dogs around so I think it’s fine. It’s a fantastic place very special enjoy

I slept about 4 hours the night before to make it early for sunrise. To say that a few tasty beers were what the doctor ordered would be the understatement of the century! None of this matters, of course, to the good folks at Rocky Cut Brewing Company. This is off the main drag of Estes in an unassuming strip plaza. Humble vibes inside, a simple U-shaped bar top with seating all around, a few smaller tables, a community table, and a large patio with mostly picnic table seating. If you're lucky, snag a stool right along the Big Thompson River! Though, I recommend they fix the wooden placeholders for beers, they're leaning on the wrong side of history, we don't want any full glasses of beer reaching an unnecessary demise! Interference IPA * American IPA * 6.7% * 16oz ($7) From their website: "Climbing the Interference Boulder in Rocky Mountain National Park requires strength and power. This Colorado IPA showcases the power of hops with an intense blend forging citrus aromas with a pine forward finish. Featured ingredients: Cascade, El Dorado, Mosaic, Chinook, & Simcoe hops * Recommended adventure: hiking Black Lake, climbing the Twin Owls, skiing upper Hidden Valley." A perfectly apt description. I would summarize this beer just as they did, focusing on hops, citrus, and pine. Absolutely delicious, a memorable IPA in recent memory. I liked it so much I ordered it again and it tasted just as delicious the second time down! They also had a food truck outside, so safe to assume they do this often. Would love to try more of their beers during my next visit. Rock Cut, I see you!

There were a couple of mix-ups with our order, including Mezcal which has a very distinct taste accidentally being added to my margarita, and some incorrect side dishes but the staff handled everything quickly and professionally. Since the restaurant had only recently reopened with a new menu, the mistakes were understandable. I ordered the Smashburger with fries, and my friend had the chicken fajita sandwich with a salad. The food was delicious, and the prices were reasonable for the area. The rooftop offers beautiful views of Estes Park and is conveniently located right in the shopping district. The only downside was the orange barrier coverings around parts of the rooftop while renovations were being completed. They blocked some of the views and took away a bit of the ambiance. Once those renovations are finished, this will be an even better spot. Great food, attentive service, and a fantastic location, I would definitely visit again once the renovations are completed.

We sat down and about 10 minutes later, a couple sat behind us and our waitress visited and brought water to their table first instead of ours. In addition, another couple behind us was not seen by any waiter/waitress and had to ask a worker (who might have been an assistant manager? Although, not clear what his position was) if they can order with him. Overall service felt scattered, a bit slow overall, and unprofessional. Food: I ordered the tex mex bowl with barbacoa. It tasted as expected, nothing spectacular. However, there was a massive piece of plastic in my food. I let the waitress know and she apologized on behalf of the kitchen. I kept the meal because I hate waste and I didn't see any other plastic pieces in the food. Right after I found the plastic, I also discovered a bone in the meat. It was big enough to hurt a tooth if I had bit down on it but thankfully I spit it out before I chewed my food completely. While a bone might be normal to find in meat, I was certainly unhappy that now two objects were in this food. I was never comped for my meal and the manager never visited my table to apologize. I only write reviews if I had a fantastic experience or when I feel the need to warn others about the restaurant. I recommend choosing another restaurant before choosing this one if you prefer quality food and service.

After one of my go-to nearby restaurants closed down, I decided to venture here for a burger. This place rocks! Boss Burgers and Gyros reminds me of a classic dive that we all know and love. Nothing fancy, no frills, no fuss, no pretentiousness, just tasty food at an affordable price. You order at the counter and the cashier gives you a table number. Plenty of outdoor seating with some indoor seating as well. This place gets pretty busy, but the staff hustles. Kitchen is cranking out relatively quick ticket times so you don't have to wait that long at all. For a cheeseburger with bacon and jalapeños and an order of cheese fries, this was $14 and change. And I added the bacon and jalapeños to the burger! In Denver, this would be $25, haha. The cheese fries (small) were really enough for two people. So you get your money's worth after a day exhausting yourself at RMNP. Burger was great. I added some mustard to mine at the table. It comes with LTO, ketchup, and mayo. This tastes like what you want at a backyard BBQ. Served on a red plastic tray with paper lining, this mom and pop place dishes humble food without breaking the bank. Bacon was crispy, cheese was melty, I had no complaints! Only knock on the cheese fries were that they desperately needed salt. It's not the best burger place of all time, but it doesn't need to be. These are the types of places I love supporting. Will return and maybe try an elk dog next time!
