As long-standing visitors of Estes Park, we've always gone to one particular coffee shop. Lately though, the coffee hasn't been as good and the wait has been way too long, so I decided to check out Coffee on the Rocks based on the positive reviews online and from people we know. It definitely did not disappoint. The coffee is top notch, an A+ in my book...and the speed at which they make it is also on point. I almost took away a star because during one visit they skipped forward through a Journey song, which is definitely a no-no for me, but I decided to let it slide... for now. They have a great selection of specialty lattes, and the deck ambience is hard to beat. You can feed the ducks, spot some deer, and just enjoy the wildlife along the river while you sip your coffee. We have for sure found our new coffee spot for our Estes Park visits going forward. read more

My wife and I stopped by Coffee on the Rocks on November 15th during our anniversary trip to Estes Park, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our day. I'm pretty new to the world of coffee, so it was great to get helpful feedback on what to try. Both my drink and my wife's were amazing--fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Mine came out at the perfect temperature for a chilly afternoon, which made it even better. One of the best parts of the visit was the park area behind the shop. It's a beautiful spot to unwind, take in the scenery, and just enjoy the quiet charm of the city. Sitting out there with great coffee made us fall even more in love with Estes Park. I love this place and could never remember the name of the place until I returned the millionth time! haha. Laid back staff with tons of items on the menu for both food and drink. The shop sits right next to a duck pond and once in awhile you'll also see elk/deer roam around. I'd love to return some time soon just to see what else I can order from this menu. Even though we had to stand in line for about 30 minutes to an hour, it was worth it!! I will always appreciate a place that offers a gluten-free options and substitutions. For some reason, the stuff that works here, they are all cool as cucumbers. It may sound cliché, but this is a cult classic read more

line was out the door, but staff kept it moving FAST. Incredible views and great coffee. Food was perfect and didn't take long despite the 30+ people ahead of us and 30+ people behind. You can purchase food for kiddos to feed the ducks while you enjoy mountain and river views and wait for your food/drink. Really great spot! read more

Boozy coffee is magic on a cold day of vacation. I tried the Pumpkin Pucker, which was your typical pumpkin spice with Baileys Orish cream. Was $12.50, which is fair for a mixed drink. Beautiful scenic views and seating areas. read more

I think this place is lovely. First of all, you really can't beat the setting. There's a gorgeous stream with plenty of seating along the shore. The wildlife is very acclimated to human interaction, so be ready to make some new friends. The stuff I ordered was also very good. For food, we got some bacon egg bites. They were exactly what you'd expect out of coffee shop egg bites, which is not at all a bad thing. My drink was great, I got a watermelon cucumber and mint refresher (was looking for caffeine at that point in the day) and it was everything I hoped it'd be. I think it's a tough layout for dealing with a rush of customers, so we ended up with quite a wait, but everyone working there was very pleasant. Intestinal Impact Index Rating: 1/5 - had I gone with coffee this certainly would be higher, but safe choices were made today in preparation for a long drive home. read more

We stopped here before a trip to Rocky Mountain NP and are glad we did. We came mid-week in September and it wasn't crowded. They have fun latte flavors and I got the cake batter? Or cake something one. It was sweet, but to be expected for the flavor I chose. My husband has a gluten allergy and had a question about the egg bites. The employee was unsure but grabbed the box for my husband to read the ingredient list. We took our coffees outside and the ducks and geese curiously checked us out and hung around. It was a fun extra with the geese and ducks and pretty mountain views. read more

I'm extremely picky about espresso and I tried many shops in town during my weekender with my husband. And coffee on the rocks had the best tasting espresso shot. The outdoor space is lovely too -- a pond full of ducks and geese and beautiful rocky cliffside views. If you're an espresso person, try it!! We ordered an iced caramel macchiato and an iced vanilla latte! So soo good - best coffee I've had in a while!! I wish I was local this would be my routine stop! The atmosphere was so laid back and they are efficient Feeding the ducks corn they sell for $1 per cup was so fun and of course the views . Make sure you add this stop to your itinerary!! read more

Most of the coffee shops in the area are about the same. This one has a unique feature that would make me visit again. For $1, you can get a scoop of kernals and you can feed the 50+ ducks that hang around outside the shop. What a fun experience to be surprised by. The latte flavors are fun and they have some liquor options to throw in your coffee if that's your jam. The food options are cheap and quick, as if someone went to the grocery store and toasted your bagel with home appliances. Fine for what it is, not overpriced I don't think. There was a long line the whole time and 2-3 people working but it seemed like they could churn out some drinks and food pretty quickly - we didn't have to wait too long. Absolutely gorgeous and a perfect remote working spot. They have Wi-Fi and great coffee right next to a pond with wildlife, what more could you want? The food is always subpar, so I highly suggest bringing your own food and getting drinks here. Everything I have tried food wise (3x) has been disappointing. Usually I'm pretty generous with coffee shops and food just because that's not their specialty, but this past time I got a very soggy sandwich that ended up being trashed and I vowed to never order food here again haha. There's a gift shop nearby, and the location is just unbeatable. Definitely recommend on your way into Estes Park! read more

We absolutely love this place! We don't come to us without stopping here for a delicious beverage in a really special setting. There is a ton of ducks on a pond right in front of their entrance where you can sit and enjoy a snack and your beverage and feed the ducks. You can make a small donation for some duck food inside and have some fun! Delicious, consistent and don't be surprised if there is a line out the door because it's that good! read more

I won't lie, I'm a little disappointed in my experience here. The drinks were amazing with a lot of creative flavor options for your latte, and the views/location were stunning. However, our service was pretty crappy.... I know it was a super busy day/time, but logistically the coffee shop is not set up well. The people making the drinks have to walk behind the cashier and food person to drop off the drinks, and anything iced is in a different corner than the rest of the drink station. This is naturally all going to slow down service. However, our food was forgotten about and all we got were microwaved egg bites. Also, you could tell they were slammed and it was getting pretty dirty behind the counter. Even when things slowed down, no one really worked to clean up. All in all, I get the appeal and if I was JUST getting coffee, I would have had a better time. However it was crowded and waiting that long for some pretty basic things is disappointing. On a total side note, I'd be really curious to know how much money they make per year on bird feed. read more

The 5 stars are strictly based on the views here! It is like hevan on earth here on a prfectly clear day. Zero complaints here. PLus I got to feed the ducks! Adorable and memorable! Incredibly scenic location with a perfect selection of specialty drinks and breakfast offerings. We stopped in on our way from Estes Park to RMNP, and Coffee on the Rocks was perfect for some caffeine and a quick bite to eat before a day of hiking. Coffee was delicious, breakfast sandwiches were generous and very customizable, and the service was fast and friendly. As we were making our way to Rocky Mountain National Park, we came across Coffee on the Rocks and decided a jolt of caffeine would be nice. As we pulled into the parking lot and found a spot, I immediately saw what awaited us: a cute pond with ducks and an awe-inspiring river right next to it. I quickly ordered my coffee (it was a macadamia nut and cinnamon latte with almond milk) and made my way to the grounds. To be surrounded by such nature on a quiet Sunday morning let me know it was going to be a great day. You can even buy food to feed the ducks and geese! I can understand the perks of having this nearby if you live in the area, but if you're driving through Estes Park, do make it a point to stop by and take in the views with brews! read more

What a cute stop along the road into the Rocky Mountain National Park. This place provided the perfect setting for me to grab a latte and sit outside by the babbling book to concentrate on my studies. It looks like a perfect venue for events from small private concerts to weddings. Loved all of their inventive drinks on the menu and they also have some pretty delicious sandwiches. Overall I'm not super impressed with my first experience here. I was so excited to try it based on the description & reviews, but the experience fell flat for me. The back area was cluttered, which takes away from some of the ambiance. The outside area seems like it would really lovely in the summer! As far as my order. I got a breakfast sandwich & it was about the same as starbucks quality. The croissant was smashed & didn't seem fresh at all. I tried one of the house specials for coffee & didn't finish it due to it mostly tasting like syrup and milk. Maybe it was just an off day, so I would give this place a second chance to when I can sit outside but overall I would recommend somewhere else :( read more

Coffee on the Rocks was our third attempt at getting coffee before heading into the park and thankfully we had 25 minutes to spare because the line was insane. We waited along with everyone else and admired the scenery and beautiful weather. Once inside, we ordered two lattes that were priced on par with other shops in the area. They have little indoor seating towards the back of the cafe, with most seating located outside. They have two bathrooms inside: one unisex and one family. They also sell corn to feed the ducks in the pond outside. We saw lots of kids taking advantage of that. Although super flavorful and creamy, I was a little disappointed in the volume of actual latte in our cups. It was mostly ice and my friend that asked for less ice received a cup that was about 4/5 full. For the price, you don't get much coffee. If there was another option in the area that had a shorter line, we probably would've gone for it. read more

A very cute cafe! Service was fast. Seating outside and inside. Typical coffee options- otherwise other beverages are offered like smoothies and some alcoholic drinks. Light food options too. I went twice here during my time in Estes Park because I loved my dirty chai so much, however the 2nd day they completely forgot to add my 2 shots of espresso and I had already left the shop by the time I realized. My fiancé also bought an apple cider one day and hot chocolate the day after and he was not a fan of either. The coffee and the views are so good nonetheless. Coffee on the Rocks is a necessary establishment in Estes Park. How many of us are in dire need of a caffeine jolt pre or post hike at Rocky Mountain National Park? (Raises both hands as high as a 14er!) It's an adorable setting along the creek with beautiful mountain views. A couple of deer were walking around the sidewalk and grassy area. Like many places in Estes, it seems like a fairytale. This is off the main drag where traffic and parking can sometimes be a nightmare. Luckily here they have a huge parking lot. Once inside, it's a no frills type of place. I'm a big iced Americano drinker, and there's was the lighting bolt I needed to power me through back to Denver. I'll have to try some of the food options next time. And surprisingly they serve alcohol too. Take a few minutes to sit on the patio and soak in the surroundings, you won't regret it! read more

Took it upstairs and just relaxed for a bit with my friend, perfect post-hike vibe. I was here back in September too and noticed they've upgraded the upstairs seating since then, so it feels even nicer and more refreshed now. Always consistent, always a great stop when I'm in Estes Park.
