With dozens of different desserts to accompany it. The decor and furniture here are so fun & full of color. This coffee shop is literally underground.... super cool. I was exploring downtown Greenville & found my way here. I ordered the "Firecracker" which is a cinnamon latte. It was hot, big & full off authentic coffee flavor with a hint of cinnamon kick. I paired my latte with a brownie fudge sundae & enjoyed the atmosphere. I was pleasantly satisfied and will be back. Good coffee, over priced desserts, lackluster server. We decided to go here after dinner for dessert and a coffee. First off the server brought 3 desserts and stated she'd be right back. Approx 10 minutes later and after the kids ate the first three dessert I got my coffee (a simple macchiato) and the final desserts. When we got our check there was a 19% gratuity b/c 2 adults, and 4 kiddos. The server deserved 5%. Sorry, but having been a server, she sucks! I do love me some good coffee and they have exactly that! I met my friend downtown and we took the babes on a a coffee date. Now...carrying my son in his stroller was by far not the brightest move but desperately needing coffee this momma dig deep and carries him down the steps and it was well worth it! The inside is cute and cozy and the coffee options aren't to shabbby! I got a toffee nut latte with almond milk and it was gone in no time! I visited their actual location with a friend the other day, and I had a more positive experience this time. I don't love the vibe of the place, but I had a nice iced Caramilla (caramel and vanilla) latte. We also had some cheese fries, which were good. The employees were nice as well. In town for a couple of days we were looking for some caffeine. We already had a cup some place else but opted to try one here. Down we go into a darkened busness. It was nice walking in. People all over on their computers. Free wifi if you purchase something $2 or more. Coffee was decent but we did not enjoy it as much as the last cup. Tea was ok. We walked around a bit and sat in back. It was dark. And eventually felt a little weird. I needed to use the restroom and the person cleaning it said "I need a little while to clean this ok?" Hmmm, well not exactly. Give me 30 seconds and I will be done. So a gentleman said "use the mens." So I did. I have been to Coffee several times and I love this place. I hosted my first book signing event here for a great price and it was a great success. This review though, will be based on my recent visits. First visit was with my husband. I like to test the waters with him and then venture out on my own afterwards. The cozy furniture and layout was great and very welcoming. I ordered coffee. I don't think I ever will again because it was too strong. I had to add a ton of cream and sugar, but it still did not help. I couldn't drink it. We sat uncomfortably(my husband did because he is the complete opposite of me and prefers bars with liquor and beer) for a short while and talked. I realized he would not return with me, but I loved the vibe so I decided I'd come back another time alone. My second visit was solo. I didn't order this time. I just came to write and the old chair I chose to sit in was perfectly placed. I felt that I had the space and privacy to write unbothered. I stayed for an hour or so and there were no highlights here accept the story I had written. My last visit was the best and the reason for five stars. It had been a while since I had visited and I wasn't interested in the coffee. Instead I was interested in tasting their tea since the coffee was too strong and it gives me anxiety anyway. When I entered I was greeted by a bubbly host who seated me at a table towards the back. I picked it and it was the best seat in the place. She left me to unload my computer, papers and pens. I had to walk up to make my order after she had given me an overwhelming menu with 7000 items on it. Luckily, green tea was on the back and easy to find. I ordered the jade organic green tea with honey! . She brought it out in a mug that only cost $2.25. Nice deal for such a big cup. I poured a lot of honey from the sticky container because I like my tea sweet. And baayyybe... I tell ya, that tea was soo good. I really enjoyed the warmth and the flavor. Very smooth taste. Not only that but I guess they had just started letting paying guests use their free WiFi, so that was also a nice surprise. Overall, I like the way they do business. Even though I prefer the tea over their "famous coffee" and the the furniture looks thrifted, I will return again because I appreciate the good service. read more

Definitely my favorite coffee shop in Greenville! Great coffee (much better than starbucks), a relaxed atmosphere with eclectic decor and very friendly staff. I always have a great experience here! This is a place everyone can enjoy. Professionals cans bring a laptop and work and its a also a great place to catch up with a few friends. There's a theatre in the back where there is sometimes comedy or poetry readings. If you find yourself hungry, the menu is very good for a coffee shop. I highly recommend the tofu Thai wrap. This is also a great place to grab a glass of wine or coffee with liquor if you are in the mood for a relaxed atmosphere and want to stay away from the bars. read more

What not to love and appreciate. It has been around for 25 years. I am in love with their delightful cappuccino! It comes in a huge mug, and ohhhh so good! Sometimes I may get the Mexican coffee. Aptly named... Coffee Underground is indeed underground! If it wasn't for the large sign out on the sidewalk I doubt many people would know it was there. We stopped by for a quick coffee and some of their homemade treats and was pleasantly surprised. Loved the comfy cozy interior and the wide variety of options to choose from. And boy do they have a crazy amount of sweet coffee creations! We were able to try the S'mores latte and it was delicious. Definitely recommend for anyone with a sweet tooth. We also tried the coffee cheesecake and the peanut butter pie... both were insanely good! read more

I come to this shop whenever I get a chance. It is great. I love the environment and atmosphere. It is really large and open, with plenty of seating. There is also some seating outside, and if the weather is nice-try to catch it! It is beautiful and peaceful outside. It is actually underground, so you don't have a street view, just some pretty plants and a private space. The coffee and goodies are outstanding! Dinner isn't so hot. Literally. My roll was still frozen on the inside. The salmon and couscous tasted pretty ho-hum, but the mushrooms were absolutely YUCK! I know; some of you may love mushrooms so my negativity is probably not fair considering the fact that I just don't like them...therefore I wouldn't know a good one from a yucky one. I DO think they're trying hard to branch out with the menu offerings so I'll give them a thumbs up for effort. This is a super cool little coffee shop that's conveniently located on a street called "coffee street". It is an underground coffee shop that has a vibe similar to what you would find in San Francisco. It has that trendy vibe with an eclectic/ younger crowd. This coffee shop offers an variety of different coffees espressos and desserts. They have their liquor license so you have the option of getting yummy coffees spiked with different liqueurs. Unfortunately, I can't even review the coffee drinks. I don't remember much about them, because we were so distracted by other matters. We planned to spend some time working remotely. The lines were very long. My husband went up on his own (as I decided what to get) and ordered his drink. They also gave him a wifi code, when he asked. I tried to enter it into my computer, but it didn't work because they are individualized. It ended up being good that I hadn't ordered yet, because there is a min. purchase requirement, so we would have had to order separately anyway. And I needed my own code. After that, someone came in with a cat. I'm allergic and started getting really sick. We tried to move to the back room, but it has a really dark, gross feel with no windows. I love coffee shops, and this was not a good experience. I would consider giving even fewer stars. However, the coffee may be great- if so, maybe it's better to grab and go! This place is just oozing a cool, hip vibe. First, it's underground. Second, they serve coffee, (HUGE) slabs of cake, and even alcoholic shakes. Third, there is a room where you have to be 18+. (Though, really, no one was there to make sure of that.) Fourth, it's full of fairly young 20-30 somethings. Fifth, there's an eclectic Prohibition-era vibe going on. Think draperies, carpets, squishy chairs, dark lighting. And also... secret underground entrance! The cakes appear as if upon the wings of baker-angels. Easily 5 inches long, if you drop in for the afternoon and they're here, you should pick one up! They had a strawberry cake with cream cheese frosting, as well as a chocolate mousse cake that looked fan-freakin'-tastic. Each piece is under $5, BTW. When my companion and I came back after watching a show at the Peace Center, THEY WERE ALL OUT OF CAKE. I was so bummed, because I had been thinking about that cake ever since I laid eyes on it. Oh well, next time for sure. I can't speak to the food here (they serve sandwiches-hot, cold, veggie, as well as soups and salads). It appears to be run-of-the-mill deli food. BUT, what I did try was one of their alcoholic milkshakes. I can't tell you exactly what was in it, as my job has their website blocked. What I can say what that it involved chocolate, milk, and vodka. And yes, you can definitely taste the vodka. They actually card you to drink it, so there's that. I'd guess somewhere close to a quarter of a shot to a half shot of vodka was in it. I also tried my companions White Russian, which was good, but less chocolate-y and more milk-y than the drink I got. PROS: Very cool, chill vibe. 20-30 something crowd (with a peppering of high school babies). Reminds me of Prohibition-style furnishings. There is a room that is 18+ for "quiet reflections", or if you just don't want to be around kids or whiney pre-teens. They got people through the lines quickly, despite a pretty good build-up. Tons of seating throughout. CONS: Very cool, chill vibe. They ran out of cake by the time I came back! (which is more a testament to their cake than anything) As you'd expect, it's not the cleanest place. Sort of grungy-hipster. I guess you could consider that part of the charm. VERDICT: I liked it here. It's dark and sort of intimate, and definitely a great place to hang out and drink coffee. That being said, I get the feeling it's frequented by a lot of younger people during the weekends (younger than 18), so I imagine that could prove annoying. I didn't actually see a single child here, though, which is ALWAYS a plus when I'm in the mood for some conversation and not the screechings of an infant. The drinks were good, the cake looked good (ARGH! NEXT TIME I WILL HAVE YOU.), and it's a really good location downtown. read more

Coffee Underground is seriously cool and eclectic. It has a very cozy feel in there, with a hodgepodge of different couches and chairs. I also think they have some unique art hanging on the walls. They have a separate area with some tables for people grabbing a bite, which I assume might be more for their evening crowd. They have a little theater and do shows (most music and comedy, I believe), which I would assume might happen on the weekends. I came in here for some coffee and to hang out for a bit. They do offer WiFi, but it is time-limited and you must make a purchase. My coffee was pretty decent and not overly bitter (unlike Starbucks coffee, in my opinion). The barista was polite and helpful when I stopped in. I am really looking forward to checking this place out in the evening sometime. read more
