It took a few minutes to find a table but it was a busy Saturday. Service was prompt and with a smile. Americano and breakfast (SEC) biscuit were very good. Their biscuit is made in-house with asiago and something else artisanal. Delightful. After leaving, I spilled coffee on my shirt from my to-go cup. Only later did I see the cardboard was bent exactly where I placed the lid's opening. Not their fault. User error. I am the one who placed the lid on the cup and cardboard bends. Unexpected, cute coffee shop around a curvy road in Greenwood. The small coffee mug sign outside signals that the inside will be unassuming as well, but that's just not the case. Upon walking inside, you'll instantly feel cozy and welcomed. With quotes about compassion on the walls, a funkily manuscripted chalk menu on the back wall, and the smell of breakfast sandwiches dancing into your nosebuds, you'll want to camp out for a while. The breakfast sandwiches are reasonably priced ($4 for egg and cheese on a croissant), and they even have an entire menu of gourmet grilled cheeses. There's espressos, coffees, smoothies, cider, and hot chocolate. They also have cold brew on tap. THE BEST PART THOUGH?! All proceeds go to "making more free marriage & addictions counseling available to our community." That's seriously awesome. I'm down with that. I'll be back for that. This was a fun unexpected stop to work for a few hours this morning. We pulled up Yelp and quickly found a spot that neither of us had been to before. The space offers a hand full of tables, a high top counter and a few plush chairs to enjoy your coffee, tea or smoothie. During our visit, I enjoyed the cold nitro brew on tap which was lovely. It wasn't as power-packing as some others I've had but I enjoyed it nonetheless. We especially appreciated the window that allows customers to see in to the roasting process to the left as you walk in to the business. In addition to drinks, they offer several sandwiches and baked goods like muffins and scones. Parking can be a little awkward with the lot being full and surrounding reserved spots but it wasn't terrible. Overall, we had a really positive experience and I look forward to returning. read more

I didn't finish it all and ate the rest almost 10 hours later and it was still moist! That is a miracle especially with it being GF; the GF Mediterranean scone was a delicious breakfast sandwich that was also moist. I love working from Coffeehouse Five! The drinks are SO good and the chive biscuits they use for their breakfast sandwiches are the best. I also appreciate the free refill on my drip coffee if I stay and work from there for a while. The staff is always friendly and the seating area couldn't be any cuter. I am so happy that whomever runs their social media over at Coffee House Five invited me to check them out. Upon entering you are greeted with smiles, pleasant demeanors, and super helpful staff. This is a fabulous spot on the Southside of Indy worth checking out. They have such a clean and open space for meeting with loved ones, working remotely, or just enjoying some time solo. I went in today with my 9 month old and everyone was super helpful and sweet. I love being able to go out and work remotely while having my baby accompany me without having to deal with attitude from people simple because I am there with my baby. She was so sweet and didn't get fussy until I was packing us up to leave so you know this space has great energies if the baby was cool, calm, and collected! The best part about this particular coffee house is they are a for benefit coffee house. They actually provide couples counseling and addiction counseling. I was so impressed I had to support them as much as I could by purchasing an egg sandwich, chocolate muffin, latté, sticker, and a t-shirt. Ive been frequenting this place since COVID hit to help in supporting small/local business... but lets me honestly, partly because starbucks is closed. I'm happy I've started going here more often as I've had a chance to try a bit more of their menu. Their cold brew and nitro cold brew hit my palate much better than starbucks. I enjoy flavor, spice and pepper.. if you don't like pepper or find it too much, you may ask for light or no pepper on this as it comes with (i think) freshly ground pepper on the egg. As I was making a business stop in Greenwood, I decided to scope out a breakfast spot and take advantage of the opportunity to try something new. CH5 popped up with 5 stars, and piqued my curiosity. I casually perused the menu before making a beeline. Its a charming little spot, complete with galvanized panels and Edison bulbs. While small, seating was ample. You could grab a comfy lounge chair next to the fireplace, a four top table or a seat at the natural wood plank bar at the front window or at the service bar. With free wifi, its a perfect spot for working offsite or meeting someone, with a larger table for a small group. As with many local breweries, there is a window into the roasting process. Their coffee is 100% organic fair trade fresh roasted in light, medium and dark roast options, but also have a creative delectable flavors from peanut butter and chocolate, white chocolate raspberry and Snickers and blackberry. Other choices include chai tea, espresso, cappuccino, mochas, lattes and a variety of fresh fruit smoothies. What in the heck is lemonade coffee? I don't know, but I'm willing to go back & try it! Their kitchen offers fresh baked items to grab and go; scones, iced lemonade cookies, energy bars and muffins. Breakfast is made to order and varies from your standard fare; savory homemade gravy on their parmesan chive biscuits, flaky croissant or ham & cheddar scone sandwiches with choice toppings to a huevos rancheros biscuit, the Mediterranean (hummus, feta & cuke) on naan sandwich and Italian (proscuitto, mozarella, sun dried tomato with oregano) on grilled sourdough. If I lived local, this would be my go-to coffee stop - I'm all about supporting local businesses with brilliant ideas. My husband recommended the nitro cold brew, he's previously been and had purchased a growler of it. But I have been in an iced caramel macchiato mood for weeks now, so this drink immediately caught my eye from the menu. It was tasty and the bottom of the cup with perfectly covered in caramel and topped with their espresso. There is plenty of room and seating for working and meetings. Even a large, long, farm-style table is available for larger groups. I believe the back portion of the coffeehouse is used for their counseling and other services, while the front serves as an area for coffee customers. They roast their own beans (I feel this is very important for serious-coffee-lovers to know). They have a mug club available for their regulars and their prices are pretty standard. Offerings of muffins, espresso brownies, cookies and more were hard to resist but just had lunch, so maybe next time. Love the immediate coffee aroma upon entering and the chai tea was good. I'm a black coffee kinda guy. No cream or sugar, just a rich tasting cup of joe that I can drink right away without having to burn my tongue and ruin my tastebuds. Pretty simple. So, due to a change in my morning "routine", I hadn't had any coffee and while in Greenwood, decided to stop by this place I had been noticing for awhile. So glad I did! The exterior is rather nondescript and the inside is a bit industrial, but they do have a fireplace on the right side of the dining area and you can see through a window where the staff work some magic on roasting. I went to the order line and used the chalkboard menu to help me decide on an "Everything Scone" to go with my medium roast black coffee. The coffee was handed over right away and I was told they would call out the order when it was up (Not my name or a number, so I can imagine this could be confusing if two people ordered the same thing before the first was delivered.) As I said, I like my coffee, but served at a temperature I can enjoy it. This met the challenge. The medium black coffee had a nice aroma and the taste was rich, but not overpowering. And when I ate the scone, the coffee was strong enough to not loose its taste. The scone was fantastic! About four inches long, the scone was a ham and cheese filled pastry that was still moist, though a little crumbly. They also had some herbs inside the dough to enrich the flavor. The Everything also has a hard fried egg between the scone slices. It also came with a choice of bacon or sausage. I went with the bacon since I am trying to maintain my weight during the holiday season. Excellent choice. I definitely recommend this combo. The shop also has a rewards program for frequent visitors and a mug club where your mug hangs on a wall. Note: I bused my on table when done. Not sure if that is expected or not, but they have a place by the water dispenser on the counter where I saw other used dishes and a trash bin. Note 2: The profits from this place are used to provide counseling for people who are in need. I like that! Absolutely love Coffeehouse Five! Every time I'm in the area, it's hard not to stop by. The decor is nice and modern. And the PLANTS, they're lovely! The staff is always kind and pleasant. Now, I'm super into espresso, like if the espresso is good enough, I'll have just a plain hot latte, no sugar or added flavors, but I'm picky. Not many places have espresso that tastes good enough without adding anything extra, but this place has amazing espresso. It's not too bitter and not burnt, which is quite a rare find. Such a sweet little coffee shop in old town Greenwood. I'm happy to have a spot to grab a quick, affordable breakfast and a great cup of coffee on my side of town. The biscuits and gravy were super yummy, the staff was sweet, and the coffee was hot and delicious. What's not to love?!
