This review is going to be a little stale, but bear with me. I spent four years at Stanford, and during that time, I probably stopped into the CoHo a good number of times. It was a great spot to meet up with friends, classmates, and professors, for purposes social and educational and maybe other (I can't think of a single other). Everyone knew where it was, and it had that very Stanfordian abbreviated name. The decor was pleasant, even moody for a college coffee house, and I enjoyed that cheerfully artsy ambiance. The venue hosted the occasional band. I never liked the food. I will admit, five years out, that I don't remember the food very well at all. I believe I once ate a weird savory crepe, but I'm surprised that tidbit decided to stick around in my memory. I might have had a wrap or two, maybe a cookie here or there. For the most part, if I was eating near Tressider, I was getting a teriyaki bowl from Treehouse or a Jamba Juice or a Subway sandwich. I was no undergraduate gourmand, but I did not like CoHo. Maybe it was too fancy for me at the time? Who even knows. I stopped by the CoHo during my five-year reunion, to meet with a professor I have always adored. We sat at a table that held the remains of the previous occupants' lunch for most of our stay. I didn't order anything, and that, at least, was not a problem. I had a good time catching up with my professor, and I appreciated that we had this easy, relaxed place to meet. I don't have a ton of nostalgic affection for the CoHo, but it serves its purpose reasonably well. I'm sure it will keep serving students for many years to come. read more

The Stanford University Coho is the epitome of the college coffee house. Dark, worn leather couches, games, chalkboard menu, unique items with kale and delicious salads. Even the occasional live band. Great place to grab a sandwich, designer coffee, and enjoy the college setting. No need to wait in the long Starbucks line. Probably one of my favorite place places to chill in Tressider Union. read more

It's another one of those mediocre places on campus... It seems like it will be so indie and happening, it is a COffeeHOuse after all, but then it just ends up feeling very corporate, in the Student Union with the Jamba Juice and Starbucks and Subway and Panda Express-- not to mention the student services, that very epitome of bureaucracy! The food is okay, nothing terribly special. Some middling things I've had there include the mushroom burger and the pear grilled cheese. But the worst is the smell of the place; whether or not you think it's good, it's EVERYWHERE and inescapable. It seeps into your clothes and your hair and you can't taste anything else. It's crowded and loud and just doesn't to live up to what you might expect it to be. read more

Okay food at an okay price. I had the Romania Panini. It was good, but fell short of great. The pastrami was a little too chewy so one bite would take with it far too much pastrami. But honestly, the sandwich could've used a little more pastrami in general. My friend had some Vegetarian Chili which was good, and the Salmon Risotto was so creamy. In short, decent, but could be better with just a few improvements here and there. read more

Why do I keep coming back here? Wonderful comfort food, convenient order options, long hours, and nice atmosphere. While this place doesn't do any one thing amazingly, all of the little things add up to make it pretty good in my books. The food is average, bordering on good. They've got a decent variety of options - I like their pastas and sandwiches, and I've heard good things about the kale salad - but hands down my favorite is the grilled cheese / tomato bisque combo. Nowhere else on campus can you get this comfort food and that's what keeps bringing me back. On top of that though you can order via OrderAhead to minimize your wait in line. Cut the line and just pick up you order! (Though beware that the menu descriptions in OrderAhead aren't always what you get!) And CoHo is also one of the fewer places on campus still serving food after lunch time. For a person whose schedule is all over the place, that's a godsend. Lastly, the atmosphere elevates CoHo firmly to my good graces. On a regular day it's a great place to grab coffee and chat with a friend and at night it's great to grab a pint and listen to live music (though the music can be a bit loud). That makes it a bit nicer than Treehouse next door for me. Overall: solid place with lots going for it. Try to explore the menu until you find something you like - it took me a while! read more

It's hard to review a sandwich shop that's located on the same campus as Ike's Place and not default to one-star, but I'll do my best. Comparisons don't benefit anyone when you're as biased as I. Convenient. Less crowded than some other options. Reasonably speedy for "real" food. Tasty. Average prices. Nice vibe. Wish the twenty minute parking spots were thirty. read more

Awesome ambiance for a college coffee shop. Be prepared to feel a little intimidated to be surrounded in the presence of geniuses aka Stanford students! Stopped in here on a Tuesday night to watch a live jazz performance for my online World Music class and ended up falling in love with this cafe. They have an extensive and what appears to be a very healthy menu (kale!), and have a full coffee menu as well. I got a small Havana Latte ($3.00) and it was DEEEELICIOUS! Just the right amount of sweetness. The live jazz performance was awesome. If there were more locations nearer to me, and not smack dab in the middle of Stanford's huge campus, I would definitely spend some studying here instead of the basic ol' Starbucks. Hopefully I'll be back soon to try some of their salads or paninis. Bonus: They even have Mexican Hot Chocolate and Horchatta Latte on the menu! So I came here for the first time today since the re-opening of CoHo, with a redone interior more conducive to a coffee house. Flan-custard danishes? That's right, some sort of flan custard, albeit the cinnamon almost destroyed the subtle flan flavor. Yummy yummy mouth feel, mmmmm ... One way to get food pr0n in my morning. Food - OK, I've had better, I've had worse. Everything else - BAD. Try not to look around at all the dust and grime throughout the place or you won't be able to eat the OK food you just ordered. Don't think they've cleaned in a few years and it shows. PS. Fountain drinks are always flat - get bottled water or something else. But not the Vietnamese Coffee as that'll be watered down. read more

When I think of college coffee house, this is what I think of. There a very laid back/chill vibe, with the worn couches, and dim-ish interior. as I saw a bunch of people here just chilling/studying/writing papers for finals. As for the food, it's decent. Their menu is pretty huge, with everything listed on at least 5 chalkboards. 2 of the menu items I wanted were out, so I had to resort to ordering something else. I clearly came on the wrong day LOL The food is priced fairly, and you get pretty large portions. I went for the pasta, but I saw other people walk out with huge bowls of salads. *Update - I've been using Coho to cater various events for my department and they don't disappoint. I recommend them for casual breakfast, lunch and dinner catering. I use them several times a month so they know our routines now. Also, when I order my own lunch, I use their OrderAhead service online (they have an app too). You order and pay online, then walk right up to the pick-up counter at your alotted time. I usually spend 10 minutes in line waiting to order then another 10-15 waiting for my food. Now, I literally walk in then walk out. read more

I have to say the CoHo has more than made up for our initial encounter where they gave me the wrong sandwich to go. Who would have thought that an establishment would be my reminder to not judge a book by its cover? These folks simply cannot make a bad sandwich! I have since had a brisket sandwich here that was unbelievable! The chicken salad and the meatball sandwiches are also quite good. If you happen to be around campus on Monday evenings this is a fantastic place to hang out and listen to some incredibly talented musicians from the music department participate in a Jazz jam session! During my last visit I noticed wine tasting nights are also coming to the place. You might say the CoHo is classing up the campus one student, one faculty member and one staff member at a time! read more

I am quite impressed with CoHo! I've dined here about 3 times and they haven't disappointed so far. Tonight I had the Satin Doll, Creamy chicken salad, dried cranberries, chives, on buttery croissant. It was definitely Yummylicious! A favorite of mine too is their Fresh Kale smoothie/drink! OK I just remembered....il it's called Kale mojito. Service is reasonably quick and friendly. Great for chilling with friends, chatting or studying. Fantastic variety of food selections! I wouldn't come here if it wasn't for the free coupons. Get them in the Stanford Directory for a free pastry, coffee, or drink -- and combine them with the free Treehouse coupons next door to get a complete meal. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the pastries, but I don't believe they make them in-house, so meh. I usually order the Iced Vanilla Latte, but have tried their other flavors of coffee and can't say it's anything better than mediocre. I've also had their paninis which I think isn't up to par with the Tressider paninis. Takes longer to make, and they don't accept Cardinal Dollars, boo. read more

Campus location makes it ideal for Stanford students when dining halls are closed. The food really isn't that great, but they serve beer and breakfast here, which has made it really popular, especially for some Stanford athletic teams that stay during spring break and need to eat early. There is just nothing else on campus. The CoHo hosts events like poetry readings often, which makes it a fun destination when looking for something to do. read more

They really need to do something about their ventilation/air conditioning system, mostly ventilation. It's very stuffy there and it just smells like you're sitting next to a stove. The service is pretty fast, the food is average. I got the salad, nothing special, not too creative, ingredients don't go too well together... Don't have an opinion about their dressings, they all have garlic in them :( read more

Probably one of the best places to get lunch if you are at Tresidder Union and really hungry. I absolutely love their grilled chicken pasta and the méditerranéen platter. Have also tried some of the sandwiches but with Ikes and Subway around I'm not really a fan of those. To sum it up, great food, large portions, superb ambience, decent service and a cozy homely feel if you are a student. read more

First time here and I got myself an iced Vietnamese Iced Coffee. It was pretty watered down which was a bit disappointing. I also tried this pastry that the cashier described it as a bear claw (she wasn't too sure what the pastry was called either). It was much sweeter than I expected but still a nice treat to have. The cashier I spoke to was pretty friendly and nice, and was happy to take my order. Overall, the atmosphere is a pretty nice place to eat and do some work. And I definitely liked their interesting and eccentric interior and decorations. I'll definitely want to come back again to try out their salads and sandwiches. read more

OK, my eyes are stinging as I write this. The smell/kitchen oil still has NOT been resolved. YARGH. I must go home soon to rid myself of this foul odor in my clothes and now, eyes. Oh why do I decide to stay here even though I am in physical discomfort? ...I had a delicious Ravioli (spinach?) with this pumpkin/squash dressing. Such yummy-ness. It's actually the perfect proportion, though a bit on the "less cheap" side with it being $7.50. Now time to leave before the oil seeps in any more. Don't expect artisanal brewing or anything from this place. Expect cosy vibes, homey foods, and a bunch of people doing "me-time". I loved this place as a high school kid going to summer camp at Stanford, recently went back, still love it. It's a quite nice place to meet-up with friends, catch-up with folks, do your studying or work, do whatever. Check it out if you're on campus read more

Coffee shop/food area located on the stanford campus. This place is great for students who need a place to relax, study and enjoy some coffee. They also have some affordable food options here if you want to grab a meal which isn't fast food like that of panda express or subway. The portions are pretty decent. Food was good and I'm glad I tried it, but it's not a place I'd go out of my way to return to.

I kinda liked the dimly lit prior location. I also vaguely recall they had a toppings bar. This place does not. I'm guessing COVID and inflation eliminated it. The food was fine. I felt the patties seemed smaller but they still had a nice charred meaty flavor. The fries were okay. Crispy, seasoned and on the thick side. However, nothing that memorable. I ordered a banana milkshake which tasted mostly like the vanilla shake my daughter ordered. I think they put in a banana syrup instead of fresh bananas. Bottom line: will I go back? Yes, because even though I'm spoiled by some epic burger joints from my home town, this is still overall a positive experience and still better than the food at my in-laws.

They were also busy but immediately seated us and we had a much better lunch. Sometimes it's good to change things up as we'd forgotten how kind and attentive all the of the staff are at Joanie's and how much better the food was. And both of our plates of food came out hot and perfectly cooked which doesn't always happen at the Creamery. I guess we just eat there for the memories. My husband said none of the staff at the Creamery seem happy except for the host so if we don't see him seating the guests, we'll just go to Joanie's.

When the weather is nice, there can be a long wait for a table, and we've also had to leave once because our kids were super young and didn't have the patience. Other than the bar, there's nowhere to go to wait. There are employees in the lot kinda guiding traffic, but the issue is it's really a matter of luck. Someone who showed up way after you may find a spot sooner than you, and it sucks. The pancakes were bouncy with biscoff sauce and a mound of whipped cream. This was mouth wateringly delicious. I don't have much of a sweet tooth but this was so yummy.
