I do not usually write reviews for places unless it was a really bad experience or really good experience. My experience and the customer service I was offered was by far one of the best I have experienced. I have been to numerous cold stone locations but decided to give this place a try. I normally go to the one in Chula Vista or the one at Grossmont because of the convenience. Let me just say that Jane had displayed one of the best customer service. She greeted me immediately as soon as my son and I walked into the store even though it was busy being a Saturday night. We waited about but it was not too bad. She told us about the newest flavor that they had (coconut) and offered us a sample. One word: delicious! I stuck to my usual instead which was the Strawberry Blonde and my son got a mint with chocolate chips and brownie... They were both prepared in a timely manner and she had such a nice welcoming smile. I always have a positive experience here, as the employees are helpful, professional, and friendly. Yesterday I came in at noon for two to-go orders and an amazingly awesome person, Jane, was manning the counter. (She was a young Asian woman, so if you spot her, expect great service!) She was incredibly friendly and I got the vibe that she can put anyone at ease. Anyway, she recommended flavors I might like, based on my preferences and cravings, and she was more than happy to do half coffee, half banana for my mother's peanut waffle cone ice cream (the waffle cone was free! I think they made too many waffle cones or something, so I had a few to choose from). She related with me when I said I was still mentally asleep and having trouble talking, and she was a great active listener. It seems she is very naturally skilled with customer service and she just had a great personality, perfect for dealing with lots of people (as is standard with a job like Cold Stone). Essentially, Jane provided the best customer service you can get. Also, the ice cream here is great! It's REAL ice cream, made to taste great, and it's dense, so I always get full really fast (unlike with those giant party tubs at the grocery store). I didn't see gold flakes in the Wonder Woman ice cream flavor like the sign said it would, and I wish there were more fruit flavors, but they cycle those things out and also I don't really care about the WW flavor or the gold flakes. read more

Overall, best experiences I've ever had! The staff is beyond friendly, very helpful, and extremely patient as well! The best part is that they make the ice cream right in front of you! This is our normal ice cream spot, the manager Nicolette knows that we have been coming in here for a while now, that is until today. Rather than telling the whole story I will make this real short and simple: if you want good customer service and someone just to serve you some ice cream, DO NOT go to the cold stone in Rancho San Diego. Not only will they talk back to you when not being spoken to, they will talk about you to their co worker to your face and have the nerve to call their customer psychotic. Ice cream is good but could they give any smaller portions. If I am paying 6 bucks for an ice cream, it shouldn't be below the top of the cup. In fact, every single cold stone I've been to other than this one has filled it past the top. read more

The prices are outrageous and the service came with a lot of attitude. Last night, our server was sullen, never smiled and actually slammed down the child's order on the counter. Was it because my child was in the car waiting for his ice cream with his dad and she thought otherwise? Who is she to judge my order? I didn't appreciate the tip jar "humor" either to the point after reading both tip jar messages, I decided NOT to leave a tip. I worked in the service industry, too, and I get it spades, but when you borderline insult your customers, almost demanding tips regardless of the service you get as if it's your right to receive one, that's when I draw the line. Take the damned messages down or just put a smiley face on the jars -- believe you me, you will get a lot more tips. And have a little talk with the sullen one.
