I pinged the bell...waited for another few minutes and nothing. I left disappointed. This last time, we went on a weekend and there was a short line and we got a "gotta have it size." clearly their gotta have it is a "love it" cause it was sad compared to other locations. This ice cream store is close to the entrance so there are quite a lot of people, and there is always 3-to-4-people waiting line. The are more than 10 flavors and several signature collections. i really want to try them all! My boyfriend and I ordered a Cake flavored ice cream with white chocolate chips mixed-in with waffle. It's seven dollars which is reasonable. Before ordering, we tasted the cheese cake flavor and found it too sweet for us. We also tasted the vanilla flavor and found it ordinary. There are plenty of sofas in front of the store so a lot of people just finish their ice cream before continuing shopping, including us. Prepare yourselves, out of nearly 200 reviews this is my first 1 star review ever. That should pretty much show how angry I am. Came in to redeem my birthday coupon; buy one get one creation free. Got in line, ordered a coffee lovers only, and friend got coffee ice cream. I did not enjoy my ice cream either by the way, the texture was just a bit weird, but I was also probably pissed and bitter. So when it was time I pay, I showed my phone to act as my coupon, and was told that it can't be accepted because I didn't show it before I ordered. If I was told that it had to printed out or if it explicitly said on the coupon to show before ordering, I would have been okay. But no, they won't accept my coupon because I didn't show it while ordering. Who even says - oh I'm gonna use this buy one get one free coupon, then proceed to order, I'm buying two anyways. Just because I say I'm using the coupon first are you gonna make them slightly smaller scoops or something? I see no benefit in telling you guys that I'm using my coupon before ordering. What a policy, that enrages me so much. And a shame that the guy didn't pull a string just this once, but I can't blame him if that's company policy. I used to work in retail and coupons make customers happy. Sure you lose a but of money from a discount but if you don't make there customer happy you lose them, and I can guarantee I'm never coming back to cold stone. My sweet tooth kicked in so I decided to grab some ice cream for my mama and I, after hours of shopping. The sweet waffle scent wafts though this corner of the mall and it never fails to have a line of people. We decided to get the "Coffee Lovers Only" which was coffee ice cream, caramel drizzle, Heath candy and almonds in a Like It size. The guy helping me was quick, but bombarded me with upgrade suggestions and seasonal deals that he seemed to be reciting to every customer. I gently declined each of his offers. The ice cream was good and everything was mixed in well. What's a girl gotta' do to grab a small indulgence, without being pressured to get a waffle cone. Who eats those anyways? Shady Shaved Ice I like cold stone creamery and usually order the cake batter (too bad they no longer have snickers). In celebration of my love for shaved ice, I thought I would be daring and try it out. Poor choice. **$4.99** got me a large shaved ice with two scoops of cold stone in creameried ice cream of my choice. The ice machine looked like something they purchased from a garage sale. Went here with my friends to celebrate National Ice Cream Day recently! It was my first visit here and I have to say, it's quite delectable although it's a little expensive. The service was prompt and speedy! - Location: This Cold Stone is located on one corner of Great Mall. In fact, it's near the exit closest to the Century Theaters (and Outback Steakhouse) so it's in a good location, whether someone is shopping or just wants to drop by for some dessert. - Price: $8.60 for a medium-sized Oreo Overload with Chocolate-Dipped Waffle cone. It's on the pricier side for ice cream, though this is one case where the price corresponds somewhat with both the quantity and quality. - Service: Pretty good! Even though the workers were serving a lot of customers, they were well-mannered and I was comfortable in taking my time to sample a few flavors. I asked them to substitute the Sweet Cream with the new Cookie Dough flavor for the ice cream in the "Oreo Overload" and they accommodated my request (no extra charge). They were relatively speedy in making my creation! - The Treat: Even for the normal size, I considered what I got to be pretty heavy and filling--I'll have to get the small next time! The chocolate-dipped bowl really contributed to the heft as the chocolate coating turned out to be surprisingly thick; I liked eating it by itself as well as using pieces of it to scoop up the ice cream as it melted! Yikes... this store was closed down on my recent visit due to not passing a health inspection. I wouldn't say this was the cleanest location, as you can see from others' photos but definitely a busy one. I'm sure due to location that must be why it's always so busy. 1. The employees hardly wash their hands in between touching the money and then helping customers. 2. The male staff are ALWAYS touching/adjusting their hats while serving then continuing to mix the ice cream. 3. I believe this store has rats or mice. I came by one morning and the employees were discussing a dead mouse under their ice cream display. Another person mentioned this in their review as well. I love Cold Stone and this is my go to location in San Jose because the workers pack your order with ice cream and toppings. Every time I've gone the workers always put too much and have to put it in a larger cup without extra charge. They have great service and friendly workers. The only "bad" thing is that it's located in the mall so there is always a line! read more

Since getting my wisdom tooth pulled on Friday, I have been pretty limited on foods I can eat. While my family munched away on warm buttery pretzels I left to go to the Coldstone on the corner across from GameStop. Since it's a mall location, there's no surprise in the length of the line, or how long of a wait you may endure. As a heads up, I waited maybe 10-12 minutes which isn't bad if you have a smartphone or a buddy to talk to while waiting. I was looking over the menu and a lot has changed! They serve boba drinks, a crepe brûlée icecream, and now, a pumpkin cheesecake icecream. Pumpkin season is my favorite since there's a lot of goodies to try, and today was no exception so I asked one of the staff if I could try a sample. If you love pumpkin, you'll love this flavor. It's the right amount of spice and it's creamy enough that it's not overwhelming either. The guy helping me today was very nice and made pleasant conversation while preparing my ice cream. The staff here is so energetic and sweet that it's definitely worth waiting for the ice cream. Today's experience was very nice and he was very mindful of my time, but since working in food service almost every job I've had, I understand the struggle all too well. So my patience runs very high. I appreciated the time and effort he took to prepare my ice cream and he even added some extra graham cracker bits on top! It was awesome. I've had a very tiring day, but this was an excellent way to kick off a shopping trip around the mall. I'd recommend coming at a time you're not in a rush if it's a weekend. Most of the time the line fluctuates though. And as always, be sweet to the staff and they'll return the same. Treat turns disappointment so fast. Don't expect to get what you want. The staff is so poorly trained or maybe just lazy and disinterested. They messed up a simple order and then blamed me. Evidently, mix-ins, the entire purpose of coldstone, is "extra" (which I told them is fine by me) and they still wouldn't do it because they'd already put the ice cream in a cup assuming, I guess, nobody would want that. We stopped in for "nummies" after our overly filling lunch. Someone suggested Cold Stone and it looked like a hit with the crowd. We ordered a simple vanilla scoop with a ridiculous amount of sprinkles. The guy working there was like, "Don't you wanna make it bigger for .40 more?" Okay...I get it, many of us are either in the food/bar industry or have been at one time or another... Up sell, Up sell, Up sell! We grabbed a few spoons and shared what turned out to be some of the best ice cream I have eaten all week. They scoop up the ice cream right in front of you, making tons of noise and a big show with metal spoons on what looks like a granite or marble surface. Let me give you some advice honey: Go run to the nearest gym, work out all that raging anger that you have, and maybe you wouldn't look and act like such a corpulent cow. Harsh? Maybe. But I quite possibly just had the worst customer service experience I've ever had. And coming from a person who has frequented many of the nearby Asian owned restaurants in Milpitas, that is absolutely appalling. I work in the service industry, and I understand that everyone has a bad day now and then. But it is absolutely unprofessional to take your personal life into your work, and take it out on paying customers. A friend and I came in for a quick ice cream fix. The young lady working here was alone, and extremely unpleasant. There weren't too many people in line, and she appeared completely flustered with an order with a customer in line before us. While she was serving them, she yelled out to the few of us in line that she would be with us shortly in the rudest tone I have ever heard. And worse, she was rolling her eyes and almost hostile as she communicated with the woman in front of us. When it came to our turn, we were not greeted nor asked what we wanted to order. After awkwardly ordering, I offered her my credit card as payment. When she had settled the transaction, she THREW my card and receipt onto the counter. Mind blown. Even more horrific, the angry ogre proceeded to yell to the few customers in line that she'll be with them shortly. I absolutely regret not looking for her name tag. I hardly come to cold stone for single serving ice cream. The scoops are way too expensive. For one I think it costs $4.15. Which is a kids cup and you might as well get a quart from the store! I mainly come here for the birthday cakes. And if you're going to get a cake you might as will get the large. it comes out to be a better deal than the small round! They are also giving away free candles with the cake purchase. The strawberry passion cake flavor is my favorite so far! But in general, I just wouldn't make this my go to ice cream spot... When you walk into the Great Mall on the side of the theaters, you can instantly smell the waffle cone goodness. It's like free advertising cause every time I get a whiff of that fresh made waffle cone, I have to get one. It's almost ritual to get something here before watching a movie the Century 20 but how much for a shake?! For 5 dolla?! (It bettah make ya holla!) The service is pretty good though and their ice cream is smooth and very creamy and there are so many things you can add that the possibilities are endless. This place is like any other Coldstone, it has good creamy softish ice cream, and tons of yummy mix-ins. Even though I'm lactose intolerant, I get it anyways, it's that good. Usually, you can smell the smell of Coldston wafting around. MY favorite combo is: White Chocolate with Graham Cracker Pie Crust. Their white chocolate ice cream is REALLLLLLYY good. It isn't super sweet, it's just kinda coffeeish, im not sure how. This place also has a really long line, but the line moves pretty fast, so its okay. Finally, this place is right next to the theatre. So i can usually bring coldstone to movies. It's the typical chain of Coldstone's that pops up everywhere. The quality of the ice cream is awesome; smooth, creamy, and no fillers! I popped into this location with my birthday coupon (sign up on their website and you'll get an email for the two weeks near your bday to get a free medium sized original creation) and the staff was prompt, but they got my order mixed up. Bummer! 5 stars for the ice cream, 1 star for the service and speed. It's been nearly 10 years since I've been to any Cold Stone. Long time ago it was amazing! The quality of ice cream here and now is terrible no flavor so what am I paying for?!. After 10 min in the mall and it was not hot my ice cream melted. My coffee ice cream with brownie mixed in hardly had any brownie and had no taste, it was nasty and my 4 year old ordered cotton candy no mix ins and even he didn't want to eat it, he said he didn't like the taste; what kid looks forward to ice cream and hates it after a few licks?! This cold stone is located in great mall, where its super crowded and they rush to keep the line moving. I came today when a coupon for a buy one get one free. We ordered a strawberry blonde and cheesecake fantasy, both with a waffle cone. After everything was made, I showed the lady my coupon and she told me that I had to print it out in order for her to accept it. I thought, "okay that was my fault. I'll print it next time." As we ate our ice cream, I noticed little chunks of ice in my cheesecake fantasy. Not only that but BOTH waffle cones were stale to the point where it was hard to break to eat. Coldstone you have popped up at odd times in my life. I just don't eat enough sweet stuff to require your presence but you're always there to help fill a craving when I have one. You were huge in my college town and just as I was starting to miss you, you came to me! Hooray! For those of you who don't get the premise of Coldstone, here's the run down; you pick a flavor of ice cream and you pick a mix in. You can pick additional mix ins for an additional price. The employees then slap your happy concoction on to a slab of stone and through some magic of geology the ice cream gets goopy and allows them a chance to mash and maul all of the ingredients together. Then it's scooped up and put into a cup or cone. Along with dessert/ an excuse to go around the mall again, they also make these uber tasty sherbet/ fruit drinks that are refreshing and not as heavy as the ice cream. They take orders for birthday cakes as well. Of course, teens and young adults are the main clientele and the mainly employed and all that is to be expected. Hmm...I wonder if they still have that holla for a dolla sign? A buck is a good investment sometimes to watch a bratty person degrade themselves. Ooooh! And best of all, if you suck it up and spend the money to bring a pint/quart home, it doesn't get super duper hard in the freezer (I.e. put it in the microwave to destroy the tundra that's nestled over the top) for over a week!
