Food: 4/5 Somi Somi is a solid spot for a quick, casual not-too-sweet treat! I always get the upside down and have never been let down by the flavor combinations or quality over the years. I tried the ube and strawberry swirl, as well as the milk and limited edition sakura berry soft serve flavors this weekend. Their Asian flavors are usually well balanced, not too overdone or too subtle; the sakura berry was a slightly floral strawberry flavor that I really enjoyed. The taiyakis are made fresh, so they're warm and crispy to pair with the smooth and creamy soft serve. Knocked one star only for the Dubai chocolate taiyaki. It was an uncharge of $1.95 per piece and both the flavor and amount of filling were disappointing. The kataifi was still crispy and fresh, but there was hardly any pistachio flavor, my guess is it was mixed in and overpowered by the chocolate. I'd say don't fall into the hype trap of this one! Service and ambiance: 5/5 Self-ordering kiosks made ordering really easy, service was quick, staff was friendly as usual. Came on a Saturday night and it was surprisingly not busy at all.
I came back to get some Somi Somi. Got the matcha ice cream one. It was good. Service was fine and ambiance was fine too.
Somisomi is hands down my fav soft serve! Everytime I'm in sj it's a must have. I love the takoyaki it's so warm and fresh. Having the extra decadence of the filling is so perfect. Legit the best idea ever.
It's been years since we have been to this location, but still wanted to review as we liked Somi Somi, even though it's gotten sweeter over time. Their crispy tayaki is delicious even though the flavors of some swirls is a miss.
I'm kinda disappointed that the outside of the tayaki was soft and not more crispy. Service was fine, and the store wasn't busy yet customers coming and going. No seats just a standing bar to eat and leave. Inside was clean and straightforward with a slight art on the wall. You can place your order on a iPad and wait to be called. Simple, easy and uncomplicated.
Somi Somi's soft serve islight, creamy, and not overly sweet. I love that they always have their classic flavors and fun seasonal swirl options, so there's always something new to try. This location is nice because parking is easy in the shopping plaza and there's a nice little indoor standing area if you want to enjoy your dessert without rushing back to the car. Service was smooth and efficient. You order at a kiosk, they call out your name in just a couple of minutes, and then they offer you toppings. I went with the matcha + black sesame swirl topped with Cocoa Pebbles--my two favorite flavors together in one cup. So good!!
Was really craving soft serve and saw the new banana pudding flavor that I wanted to try. Banana Pudding Strawberry Swirl (3/3): This was honestly a huge disappointment to me. I couldn't even tell the color of the swirls and the banana tasted like a mushy banana
Always LOVE coming here for a sweet treat. The taiyaki are all made fresh, and the combination of hot with the cold from the ice cream is to die for. My family and I come here often if we're craving a sweet treat and they don't disappoint. I love that you can mix and match flavors inside and get different types of ice cream. Service is fairly quick, but be prepared for a wait if there's a lot of people since everything is made to order. Sometimes there's only one or two employees making it so definitely be patient! The shop is a cute little fun store that gives off great vibes.
I've given SomiSomi a few tries and tbh, I find it quite overhyped. Granted, I seem to be the only one who feels this way. Staff here is very focused on their job leaving the interaction & customer service to be lacking. I couldn't care less but my toddler's attempt at connecting with employees ends up one sided. The soft serve is good- nothing overly sweet. The fish cone is great for photos but nothing I'd openly crave. The taiyakis have a good slight chew to it and there a a number of fillings available. You can easily find a favorite or two for everyone in your party. 3 stars.
overall, somisomi is pretty solid ice cream place for subtle asian flavors. the ice cream is always super creamy and rich. there are some flavors that i definitely would not recommend by guava since it has a strange aftertaste. recently had their strawberry milk swirl and it was a bit too sweet for me. i'm a big fan of their custard ahboong and custard taiyaki. any variation of custard is pretty good at somi somi. came to try their dubai chocolate taiyaki and it did not rate high for me unfortunately. it was a 3/10 for me since there was barely any pistachio taste to it. i've also eaten a lot of dubai chocolate chewy cookies and prefer the texture of the katefi to be a bit harder but it was a bit mushier during the cooking process. the overall taiyaki tasted more like ferrero rocher than dubai chocolate.
Somisomi is currently located in 5 states. Order with the staff or kiosk. If you order soft serve, you'll choose your toppings when it's ready. I personally enjoy putting fruity pebbles on my soft serve. It's nice that they offer soft serve, ahboongs, and drinks. I like Somisomi because it's pretty consistent across all their locations. I enjoy trying their seasonal/rotating flavors, it makes each visit fun.

Service is a bit slow and there's no seating like many other locations. Ample parking and tons to do nearby including shopping and eating before indulging in wonderful soft serve. Always snag an upside down Ah-Boong for the full experience. Better than a cone because of the softer texture, includes a filling, and doesn't spill because it's upside down. The amount of filling at this location seems to be very light though. Keep up with their flavors rotating on their social media (varies each week based on location) but banana milk, when available, is wonderful and nostalgic.

This location has plenty of parking and the inside is more of a grab and go spot. There is a bar area where people are able to stand and eat. There is a park across the street so it would be a great option to eat there as well. There's three kiosk to order from which makes things more efficient when it's busy. I've been living Somisomi over the years and I love the taiyaki here the most. It's so crispy on the outside and super soft on the inside. I haven't been here in a while and saw that they have a dubai chocolate taiyaki flavor so I had to try it!! My absolute favorite is the nutella one you can't go wrong with it. I got 2 taiyaki, 1 nutella and 1 dubai chocolate to try. I wish that there was more nutella filling inside there wasn't that much this time :/ The dubai chocolate one was so disappointing. It was hard to eat and it was a lot to chew. The inside was a bit dry, I think there could be more of the pistachio creme inside. Wouldn't get the dubai chocolate taiyaki again since the other flavors are so much better. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE. I've been here several times over the past few years and it is great . Quality has never went down. I'm a big chocolate decadent fan, so I typically get the cookies and creme soft serve and it is fantastic. I found the cookie butter flavor a little too milky but I would eat it again. I love the taiyaki. It's always fresh and warm and perfectly chewy and crunchy. I always get the Nutella filling so I can't really speak on the other fillings, but I think it has just the right amount of filling inside. Toppings are yum and they never have too little. Ive had the Biscoff and Oreo ones and they are a nice addition. LOVE LOVE the macaroon it's always so chewy and yum. The service is pretty fast when there's only a few people. Sometimes when I go when it's slow my food is almost done instantaneously while still being fresh. When I go when it's busy it takes quite a while. read more
Amazing dessert place with great ice cream combinations and really good topping options. The taiyaki is delicious, and I love that you can choose from so many different fillings. I have been to this specific Somi Somi countless times, and it never disappoints! Unlike most soft serve shops, this is just the right amount of sweet too! I *always get the Ah Boong but upside down, so that my soft serve doesn't spill outside of the cup. Would highly recommend this strategy, haha. The staff is always friendly and prompt, and there are different combos every week. I'm personally a huge fan of their matcha, ube, cookies and cream flavors. For the Ah Boong, it's usually nutella for me -- gosh, I love nutella. Every time, I ask the staff to add their personal topping, and it's always been a spot on combo. This is the perfect spot on a hot south bay summer afternoon, and a quick walk around the plaza will get you warmed up pretty quick -- perfect primer for a post-walk Somi Somi! (I just learned that there's a Somi Somi near my office in my new place... I'm so excited to have another Somi Somi nearby again!) read more
Somi2x food is yummy for desserts, clean and straightforward, order and pick up. Fast Service and the workers look out for you. Someone tried to pick up my bag, when they didn't even order that particular food and they were told right away, " sorry that's not your order" I was impressed by the worker and shame on this girl who tried to one up another person. Ambiance is nice and welcoming so I recommend this place to anyone who is craving desserts. read more

Food- 4/5 I went there recently and loooved the peach flavor! I'm taking off one star because sometimes the combos that are available are weird. Peach with cookies and cream?! Why?! Service and Ambiance- 5/5 Service is great here. Workers are friendly and I like how they ask what toppings you want. The place was small yet clean. Cute San Jose wall decor for photos. Overall I'd come here again. The ice cream is pretty darn good. I hope the combos are better next time! read more
Visited on a weekend evening. The place was very busy, line was out the door. Wait time was long but understandable as there were only 2 staff there. Kudos to them for handling the huge crowd. My order was good.. Prices fair. Parking was easy im the plaza. read more
We came here twice with my sister and the kids went wild!! Flavors are good but my favorite of all time is Matcha! Lightly sweetened with coconut it's amazing!!! My kid gets custard inside that pancake fish thing and it's really yummy Service: a guy named Arman helped us and he was so patient while the boys took forever to pick their flavors and topping and filling inside the fish. Ambiance is nice and clean and really refreshing. read more
Hands down, best enjoyed when fresh and hot! I dream about these little fishies. The crispness is amazing and the filling is always on point, either custard or Nutella . You order from an electronic pad, and the wait can be a little long if they're busy, but worth the wait! YUM. Can't wait to go back! read more
I got the milk and cookies + cream combo and it was really really good. Next time I definitely want to try the strawberry matcha combo. The ice cream is super milky and flavorful but not overly sweet, which I loved. The taiyaki it comes with is amazing. I filled mine with custard and it was delicious. It's only six dollars and honestly a big size. My boyfriend and I shared it after a meal and it was the perfect size for both of us. Clean atmosphere, pretty quick service, and overall a great spot for dessert. read more

Love this spot! You can order at the kiosk or in person and everything comes out fast and fresh. I always go for the Nutella filling with the matcha swirl and Oreo topping. The taiyaki is warm and crispy, the soft serve is creamy and not overly sweet. Great treat when you're craving something different! The only downside is parking can be a little difficult. read more

SomiSomi is one of my favorite spots for satisfying my cravings for something sweet. Their soft serve is delicious with unique rotating flavors such as ube, cookie butter, milk tea, sesame, horchata, and honeydew. Their taiyaki is crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. Stopped by this location with the husband after having lunch in the area and it wasn't very busy. Staff was nice and our order came out fairly fast. Overall, standard SomiSomi location that serves yummy taiyaki and soft serve! read more

I love coming to Somisomi for dessert because it is always consistent and delicious. Prepare for a 20ish minute wait on Friday night because it gets pretty packed. I originally ordered the upside black sesame taiyaki with matcha soft serve. I was disappointed to find out that the matcha machine was out of order after I they called me. I opted to try the cookies n cream soft serve instead. The cookies n cream did not taste like what I expected it to be since the flavoring was so faint. While I don't think I will get that flavor ever again, the black sesame taiyaki made up for it! The staff was very patient with the toppings even though it was so busy. Reliable soft serve from SomiSomi hits every time. I was feeling a little blue and wanted some soft serve, lucky me there's a somisomi on Berryessa now. I had the horchata and milk swirl with biscoff crumbles. I could taste the sweet rice milk and cinnamon, the milk flavor was more subdued. The consistency of the soft serve is undefeated. Soft and not too cold. It doesn't melt too fast either. The perfect treat to share. Service was quick and friendly. There is no seating inside, it's more of a grab and go place. There's lots of parking available and it's next to a Safeway, shihlin snacks, Dunkin' Donuts, CVS and chase bank. read more

Such a fun and delightful spot! The service was super fast, and everything--from the presentation to the vibe--was just so cute. The fish-shaped waffle was not only adorable but just as delicious as the frozen yogurt--both were absolute treats and totally worth it. The quantity was surely abundant as well. Only thing I wish for is a proper seating area to sit and enjoy the dessert comfortably. Still, a great experience overall and definitely a place I'd come back to for a quick, sweet fix! read more

This is my family's favorite location, and we always come here even though there's a closer one near home. Looking back at my last review, this place was amazing. However, this time, the soft serve didn't quite live up to expectations. When we arrived, there wasn't a line, so we were able to order quickly at the kiosk. They had a seasonal Biscoff flavor I wanted to try, but unfortunately, it contained lactose. I opted for a matcha-strawberry swirl in a cup ($4.50) instead. Usually, we get an Ahboong, but we were too full this time. I think that might have affected my experience. The matcha and strawberry flavors were much more subtle than I remembered. The toppings didn't really help either--the macaron piece was hard and not enjoyable. read more
