Famous Chorizo Burrito
Peter M.

I stopped by here to try their chorizo burrito and it was worth a stop by. I would've traded my nephew for some sour cream. This would've been a 5/5 with some sour cream. Cool place. I'd get it again but smuggle some sour cream with me.

This place is so, so very loud. The noise actually stressed me out. It's nearly impossible to have a conversation inside. Service was meh - a combination of indifference and boredom it seemed. My avocado toast was below average and everything took forever to come out. So many competitors are near and better and more affordable. I won't try this one again.

I love this history. Originally it was a favorite of mine, Alterra Coffee. 03/20/23

Colectivo Coffee originally was Alterra Coffee. I drink it almost daily under that brand name. I love the decaf and the French Roast the best. The three men that started the business really fulfilled their mission. They moved into opening coffee shops and selling delicious baked goods. I'm sorry to say that they were not around the last time I drove through Milwaukee, Wisconsin. You can be sure I will stop in to one of their many locations when I pass through. I think this neighborhood in Riverwest is where it all started. I'm recommending you stop by.

Colectivo on Humboldt is open for curbside coffee, and I'm happy about it! There's nothing I miss more than spending a morning in a coffee shop with a book or my laptop, but hey I'll take what I can get! I've always enjoyed Colectivo's food + drinks and was excited for them that they've reopened. My husband and I took a walk to this location and figured we would give them a call before arriving to place our order, as that's how many places are doing it. However, once we approached the building we realized the now have a curbside window set up - how perfect and innovative. They have quite the large patio/sidewalk area surrounding it, which is nice because there were quite a few people who had the same idea as us, so everyone could spread out and keep their safe difference. We ordered at the pick-up window that was covered partially with a plastic screen. The employee behind had a mask and gloves as well. It wasn't long before our iced lattes were ready at the pickup window. There's something about Colectivo's coffee that is just different. Its creamy-goodness honestly made my day! Looking forward to the day I can come back and spend some time here, but until then, I'm so excited for this business to be making small steps.

I'm a Starbucks girlie, but when there's a Collectivo near, you best bet I'm heading there over Starbies! Amazing coffee. Love their almond croissant when I'm craving a sweet treat for breakfast!

Cute coffee shop, where you can see the roasterie inside. Recommend the horchata cold brew and the Chia bowl. Reasonably priced. Friendly service and the pastries look amazing. A lot of outdoor patio seating and cool relaxing atmosphere. Check out their mini store too for merch.

You like coffee, this is the place. You like more coffee more ways, this is your place. You want more coffee, more times and just more everything, again this is your place. Colectivo, affectionately known as Colectera by friend and fellow Yelper RFelly, is still as solid as ever. I should of took a pic of the sign by the patio because you can still see the old name underneath the new. It eerily reminds me of out with the old (name) and in with the new. In all seriousness though the setup for all things coffee roasting is right here in good ol' Riverwest and they reside in another one of their many hip and unique properties. Sure it's a little pricey to go gourmet but I'd rather come here and get the goods then hit up a Starbucks! Think local! Duh! Also they have a lot of great and specialized bites to eat from sweet to savory which makes for an awesome experience for your tummy all around. Free Wi-Fi and a great patio equals perfection. Long live Colectivo! Just wish they opened up a bit earlier...

Such a cool spot! You can watch the coffee being ground. Lots of options and seating indoors. Plenty of parking and cool baristas.

Date of visit: April 29, 2026…read more I struggled to find a decent website prior to visiting to have a good idea of what we were getting into, though I don't know that I would have been less disappointed had I been more informed. I was expecting a bit more than just breakfast sandwiches in terms of food, but that is all the counter staff told us about. Later I saw people with baked goods but those weren't mentioned or visible for us to peruse. Our breakfast sandwiches were pretty average, and the coffee was just okay as well. I tried the Carrot Cake Latte and it had a hint of that flavor, but I definitely wanted a little more. The vibe is very hipster, from the bicycle crowd to the vegan folks and would really only work in a neighborhood like Riverwest!

Totally cool place, fully grunge, queer friendly, safe place!…read more They have vegan, and meat options. Good coffee, anti-ice signs, and good music playing. The inside is set up like a 90s cafe, some booths, some community tables, and posters for events. Definitely a must try if you're in Milwaukee. I got a cold brew, and a chickpea sandwich. The sandwich was fine, it had arugula which I loved but not enough flavor other than the arugula. But it was good. My partner got a breakfast sandwich on an English muffin with sausage, egg, and cheese. He said it was "fantastic". He also got a lucky charm latte. We also got a side order of bacon for my kiddo.

I love sandwiches and knew I had to try the pastrami. It was fantastic. I've been trying to cut back on caffeine and I instead went with one of their refreshers on the menu. It was I believe and 'Blue and Grapefruit' - and that wasn't my favorite as someone who doesn't really care for grapefruit that much. I got it thinking it would be diluted a bit, SO, if you like grapefruit, I'm sure it's perfect for you. I also got a peanut butter oreo pie and wish I took a picture of it...but I devoured it too quick to even think about it. For me, that dessert was the definite highlight of the cafe. I'll definitely come back on more weekends when I have a craving for pastrami.

I ordered a London Fog Tea Latte, with a little lavender and a little vanilla, in a mug. The barista did a nice job and gave the tea a good long steep. It had excellent flavor, and the temperature was right (about 140°F). It would have been even better with a bit more foam on top. For bakery items, they had a big pile of large cookies (cowboy?), but not much else. The food menu is a little sparse but has some good options for breakfast or lunch sandwiches. I ordered a Cubano sandwich, which turned out to be an excellent choice. It came out hot, with nicely grilled bread and savory meats inside. The roasted pork was especially tender and flavorful. It came with a small container of slaw, which was a little uninspiring. Service: The person who took my order and made my drink did a nice job. She took her time and did a good job with the drink. I appreciated that they delivered both the drink and the food to the table. She was a bit soft-spoken and a little hard to hear with the music playing. Efficient, but not especially outgoing. Atmosphere: The space has a bit of an industrial minimalist feel. High ceilings with the mechanicals in plain sight, along with colorful paint and design elements. Seating can accommodate groups of different sizes, though there aren't too many spots ideal for couples. The space can be a bit echoey, and the volume of the music could make conversation challenging at times. It's a nice spot for groups to hang out, and there was a larger table where people were working and collaborating. A decent spot for hanging out at lunch or later in the afternoon.

Date of visit: December 14, 2025…read more Our monthly coffee date with our close friends took us this time to the Colectivo in Shorewood and it was good to be close from home given the frigid temperatures we were experiencing. I can't say that I've really spent any time at a Colectivo since the one at Bayshore closed, so this was a nice opportunity to reacquaint myself with their offerings and I came away impressed for the most part. For coffee, I went with the Peppermint Fluff Latte, and I must say it was an excellent choice on my part. They didn't skip on the mint and it really felt like a perfect drink for a cold day with Christmas just around the corner. Foodwise, I selected a cowgirl cookie (a bit too overcooked for my tastes, though the half of the salted choco cookie my husband ordered was quite good and I would recommend that one) and the Bacon Egg and Cheese Croissant. The croissant was a bit more squat than I was expecting, but it lent itself to the sandwich well and while a bit miserly on the cheese, it was overall a very good sandwich. I went five stars instead of four because the staff was really quite excellent. I fully expected the usual crew of hungover hipsters you see at most other coffee shops but instead I found a fun, friendly bunch that were happy to help.
