Ah! This review is way overdue. I was in WI couple of years ago for a packers game and I flew into Milwaukee. My friend who is born and brought up in WI, told me Milwaukee is a great place to check out and so I did. I still perfectly remember the cloudy fall day I visited this place. Got a double espresso paired with a cookie. I came out and sat on the colorful chairs in a corner and just stared at that beautiful fall colors. The espresso was delicious and the cookie was too. If you are ever around here, make sure check this place out for its gorgeous views and delicious coffee. read more

I visited on May 17, 2018 at 3:00p with my family. We ordered a scone, cinnamon roll, curry wrap, cappuccino, iced chai tea, and strawberry Italian soda. Everything came out quickly and efficiently. The one drawback was that it was crowded and it was a brisk morning so everyone wanted to sit inside. Although, we had to wait we finally got a seat inside. Everything was delicious and filling. Nice place for lunch, studying, or coffee/drinks. I was there on a random weekday and kind of surprised at how packed it was, but it's a pretty cool location so I suppose that happens a lot. If you visit for the first time and you can't find seating near the counter where you order, make sure to check out the back room for seating, too, which I didn't notice at first. I didn't find seating there, but being able to peer down into the old basement of the building was cool. Try the BLT w/avocado wrap for lunch if you stop by - and the chips were pretty good, too. read more

After freezing my fingertips while shooting pictures at Bradford Beach (32 balmy degrees with a 30 mph NW wind on April 6- brrrr), I thought maybe I could regain feeling by administering coffee to myself. Ordered a large Guatemala Hunapú, just a straight up cup o' coffee. It kinda worked! Only took 15-ish minutes for the coffee to cool down enough to be drinkable! Alright- the nitty gritty. This location was PACKED at 2:00 pm on a Friday. The folks behind the counter not quite as friendly as at the Bay View location. Not unfriendly, they just seemed all business. Only seating was up top. My apologies if you were there and I body slammed you with a camera bag, it is kinda tight quarters. Kinda tough climbing stairs with a camera bag and a piping hot cup of coffee. Colectivo's Guatemala okay, I think I'm more a fan of Colombian beans. On getting out, there were at least two cars shuffling back and forth waiting for a parking spot to open up. Marc's tip: If you stare directly into the cinnamon rolls, you will not be able to resist their addictive gravitational pull. read more

Rude barista. Really quite upset after my last visit. I'm in town after moving away and wanted a coffee. Visited this location before close and ordered a hot mocha. Was given a mocha that was room temp. I mentioned it to the barista and he said, "we are closed, do you want to talk to a manager?" Then he pulled in the drop off shelf and closed the door. I did not want to put up a fight, so I went on my way. However, thinking about it today is ridiculous. I did not know they were closing, there were 20-30 patrons outside, and the entrance door was still propped open. A little customer service would go a long way. They could have just told me there was no more hot coffee. And to think I left a tip. I will be calling to complain. read more

Such a cute spot for coffee! Stopped here for breakfast during a morning walk. Had an iced caramel latte with coconut syrup and WOW maybe one of the best iced lattes I've ever had. The coffee is delicious and not bitter at all. My mom and I split the potato/bacon burrito and an apricot scone. Both were amazing, homemade and unlike anything else I've had at any other place. The outdoor seating is colorful and cute and would be a great place to come work or have a coffee date! I would definitely come back here the next time I visit! read more

I really enjoyed this place. I'm a huge coffee fan (been drinking coffee for about ten years now) and I will attest that their coffee is GOOD. I just had their regular house blend and it's smooth and flavorful and not bitter or burnt tasting or watery. I also had their veggie pesto burrito, sunrise sandwich, and sesame sweet potato bowl. So about their food- it's good but I found the portions tiny especially for the price you pay for them. It's okay but I think there is definitely better breakfast/brunch food out there for better pricing. Loooove the outdoor seating. Right by the water and it's so cutely set up with all the colorful tables and chairs and lighting. Love it. Great atmosphere and ambiance. And just love the coffee. So. Good. read more

Who needs Starbucks when you have Colectivo. Collective is beyond coffee it's an vibe. Great coffee and breakfast burritos. We costed several locations but the Milwaukee Lake Front was our favorite. Plenty of outdoor seating with a view of Lake Michigan. read more

The outdoor area is really what makes this place. It's dog-friendly with plenty of well-spaced seating options, right across from Lake Michigan. I wasn't impressed with the drink I ordered, or how long it took to receive it but I can hardly remember the negatives because of how beautiful the space was. If you're looking for a place to unwind or hang out with friends/family/your pup, this is definitely the spot. read more

FOR COFFEE ONLY!!!!! I am a huge fan of Colectivo Coffee! One of finest shops/roasters I've ever been, certainly the best in Milwaukee. This is a plea to ownership. The food items, albeit pretty looking and intriguing are just VERY DISAPPOINTING. I ordered the white glaze/frosted Cinnamon Roll, LOOKS amazing, big, expectations were high and low and behold it was dry, not very cinnamony and a DUD! I returned it and got a chocolate croissant, had them warm it up, maybe it should have been toasted, it seemed she microwaved it, rubbery and tough. Disappointed My suggestion is, if you offer these food items, PLEASE make sure they are on par with what brought people there in the first place, THE COFFEE!! I will never order a food item at Colectivo again. COFFEE IS AMAZING! read more

Coffee shop had a cool industrial vibe. All the food and drinks were super good that we got. I got an iced coffee in a bacon, egg and cheese croissant sandwich. And my partner also got a smoothie, which was delicious. Everything was light and refreshing. Service was quick and easy. read more

What a spectacular location. I must not be the only person to think that, because every time I visit, this place is hopping. Maybe that's because there is a great outdoor patio, a unique and historical interior or just its perfect placement for a quick refresh during a summer walk, but I also can say that their delicious coffee must factor into it too. The premium coffee doesn't come without the price tag, however, but it's worth the occasional splurge. On a recent visit, my girlfriend and I ordered two specialty smoothies which had vanilla frozen yogurt, pineapple and orange juice and a bunch of other things that my memory fails to recall all blended up. It was perfect for a summer day, and so irresistible that I couldn't make it last more than 5 minutes, despite the generous portions. While I don't go here too often, it always makes for a memorable experience. I can't wait to taste what I get next time. read more

Asked for white sugar, they had none. Asked for a sugar syrup instead, they had none. Asked for a stirrer, they had none. Had to use raw sugar which is so thick it doesn't mix into the drink. Thanks for the $5 unsweetened cold brew where I randomly get either bitter coffee or straight sugar in my mouth. read more

I love everything about this cafe. The food is really tasty, the baked goods are delish (especially the orange and currant scone), the coffee rocks and the interior is unmatched. I'm also a fan of their no plastic straws policy and summer salsa concerts. If you're visiting Milwaukee, you absolutely must visit a Colectivo location and this one is tops. read more

If you've never been to a Colectivo before, this location is a great introduction to the world of delicious coffee and an even better food selection. If you're a regular, but want some insight into this particular location, keep reading! As the largest Colectivo in the city, Lakefront is the place to be on a Sunday morning or for a work grind. There's space for everyone whether you want a window seat with a view of the lake, or a cozy nook that overlooks old factory equipment and happy customers. And this is the absolute BEST patio spot on a warm summer day (dog-friendly!). Despite the amount of space inside, the parking lot is sparse and I've often had to park across the street. I've never had a burnt or stale cup of coffee, and the seasonal specials are always fun! I absolutely love the food selection and there's a few solid veggie options which I appreciate. One of the only downsides of this location is that even when there's no line, it takes a while for an order (coffee or food) to come out. This isn't an issue on a casual weekend or evening visit, but I do wish it was a little speedier for the morning crew. If you're looking for a solid cup of coffee, a good meal, and space to work/j chill, this is the place to go! read more

If you want a loud bustling spot to grab a drink or treat then this is a great place. This colectivo location is a Milwaukee staple. If you have guests from out of town this is a good spot to take them for a coffee and walk by the lake. If you are trying to peacefully read or study while you enjoy coffee, this probably isn't your spot. Additionally, colectivo coffee is overrated in my opinion it's become just another chain. They've become a little too big for my liking and it resulted in lower quality product at a higher price. read more

Previously, I thrilled at sipping the original recipe of a dark or white chocolate expresso frape iccee at Colectivo. Original recipe was without milk lookalikes or dairy. Just sweet Godiva chocolate powder, expresso and blended with ice-- tasted like a decadent fudgecicle! Today I tried the "new" recipe for a creamy frape: different recipe that now includes milk! Disappointing, like one of the similar frapes at Starbucks or Stone Creek. (Truvadore bakery items ( pumpkin chocolate chip & cranberry pumpkin seed muffin were awesome!) What made the old "original" & no longer available recipe stellar, was that it not only tasted great without a milk substitute or dairy, but it was unique, without any of the other places (Star Bucks & Stone Creek) having it. Please bring back the original recipe! read more

Loved this spot and could really see coming here regularly if I lived in Milwaukee. The Lakefront location is immediately across the street from McKinley Park and Beach on Milwaukee Bay, dog friendly and with a lot of colorful outdoor tables. They are closed for indoor dining. My father-in-law uses a walker, and we were able to get a handicap spot in front and use the convenient ramp down to the level of the seating and front door. You order and retrieve your order at the counter and the tables are first-come-first-served. The staff are all wearing masks and encourage patrons to be masked, and they are currently fulfilling all orders in to-go containers. We got a couple of lattes, a Super Green Power Smoothie, an Avocado Toast, Blueberry Peach Baked Oatmeal, a Southwestern Burrito, and a Pumpkin Cranberry Muffin. Everything was attractively presented, delicious, and interesting. I am still daydreaming about the super green smoothie, which was refreshing, not overly sweetened, and a perfect texture, not grainy/icy/chewy. Would totally return the next time we are in town. read more

I have been coming to Colectivo for years and their coffee is really good. But I don't think it's worth the poor service, hence the 2 stars. One time we had to wait around 30 minutes for our drinks. Couple of us got our coffee way before the others and the other people in our group are waiting around for their coffee to be ready. This seems to be a common theme when going to Colectivo, especially at the lakefront. I would rather go to Valentine or Rochambeau instead. Because their coffee is the same or better quality and they have much better service. read more

This is the coolest coffee shop I've visited! I have driven past so many times and never stopped in. That all changed recently when I met my friend for coffee there. This location used to be a water treatment building and it lends itself to a way cool coffee shop atmosphere. They built around the existing pumps and it makes a bunch of smaller secluded areas to wander into and find your own cozy spot. It is way larger than most coffee shops, but this place definitely sees a lot of visitors. Every time I've visited, which has been late at night - the place has been pretty much full. As always, Colectivo has a great array of coffees, teas, and bites to eat. They always do their best to source ethical coffee and it's delicious as well. Tip would be to bring your own coffee mug as they discount your refill if you do so! read more

I am not sure how I have lived in the Milwaukee area near all of my life and it took me 27 years to make it in here. This is one of the coolest coffee shops I have visited in Milwaukee. It is an old water treatment facility and they formatted their shop around the history. Its a pretty big shop with multiple rooms and plenty of cozy corners to snuggle up with a coffee and snack in. Its extremely close to the lakefront which is also really cool to me. They have a large selection of drinks, eats, and goodies for you to choose from-I suggest bringing your own cup if you think of it and get yourself a little discount for doing so! read more

I love sandwiches and knew I had to try the pastrami. It was fantastic. I've been trying to cut back on caffeine and I instead went with one of their refreshers on the menu. It was I believe and 'Blue and Grapefruit' - and that wasn't my favorite as someone who doesn't really care for grapefruit that much. I got it thinking it would be diluted a bit, SO, if you like grapefruit, I'm sure it's perfect for you. I also got a peanut butter oreo pie and wish I took a picture of it...but I devoured it too quick to even think about it. For me, that dessert was the definite highlight of the cafe. I'll definitely come back on more weekends when I have a craving for pastrami.

They took over the public cafe space at the Dubbel Dutch Hotel and partnered with Matilda, a local women owned and operated bakery that I like a lot! The latte was very smooth and rich. Personally I preferred stronger espresso, but I still enjoyed my cup here. The fish, of which there was three pieces, was battered with a hint of beer, but like the butter for the bread there was no salt to speak of in the batter. As much as I didn't enjoy the unsalted butter for the bread, not having salt in the batter for the fish managed to be more unpleasant. Maybe Blue's Egg should just stick with serving breakfast items instead of adding something temporary that they clearly aren't pros at.

Wait time varies greatly from visit to visit. Rest rooms are GROSS. Management is either gone or Sleeping. Employees gossip daily. Employees judge customers Customers seem frustrated but endure. Ever since I moved to Milwaukee every morning I get my cappuccino at colectivo. It's the only place I really enjoy my coffee, you can tell the baristas really know what they are doing. The coffee is perfect every time. The atmosphere is great and usually there is no problem finding parking here either. I really love this place! It has such a nice atmosphere and I believe it's in the former Milwaukee pump building, complete with all the old equipment! It's a great place to study and grab some coffee. They don't just have coffee though, they also sell some sandwiches and breakfast items, as well as a few smoothies. Always busy, the line is so long in the summer that you end up waiting 20 minutes in line to order coffee and then once you order your coffee you stand there and wait another 10 minutes for them to actually get you the coffee. This is a great location, directly across from the McKinley Tennis courts on Lincoln memorial Drive. This is a nice re-use of an interesting, older building that was built to pump and clean river water. The turkey club is great. I like the loyalty card points program, too. read more

Whoever made it steeped the tea in the cup and then poured the steamed milk over the top, instead of removing the steeper and then adding the milk. No worries. I went back and they were happy to fix it. The reworked one was a bit cooler than I like, but the texture was much better. The bakery here is good too. There is a nice selection, though it does not taste as fresh as if it were made on site. I always ask to have bakery items warmed up, which I think improves the taste.

Coffee is now ubiquitous with daily life in America, which brings me to Qamaria Coffee. Hatem and Munif are two Yemeni entrepreneurs with a passion for Yemeni Coffee and the joint goal of wanting to share it with the world. They founded Qamaria Coffee in 2019 to accomplish this task and in January 2024, they opened a location near Milwaukee in Greenfield, WI. Qamaria offers a variety of dessert options, including a Chocolate Tres Leches, Pistachio Tres Leches, and Caramel Tres Leches cakes. I went with the caramel version, which is described by the cafe as "A decadent caramel treat inspired by tres leches cake, creamy, sweet, and irresistibly smooth". If you've never had Tres Leches Cake, it's a light sponge cake soaked in three types of milk (evaporated, condensed, and whole) that's popular in Latin America. The cake originated in Nicaragua during the 19th century, so on first glance it's not exactly a Yemeni dessert. Doing some research, Middle Eastern variations exist that feature cardamom or rose water and some Qamaria locations do have a Rose Tres Leches. It's fine that the Greenfield location did not have that variety as I honestly would have got the caramel version anyway. My slice was perfectly moist as there was plenty of milk soaked in, but not so much that it made a mess or compromised the structure of the cake. The bottom layer was soft and Tiramisu-like in texture, while the cream on top was rich and thick. Personally, I found the caramel flavor to be mild, but delicious.
