Definitely one of my favorite places for pain au chocolat in Boston. It's not surprising to see a line outside especially on weekend mornings for Colette's top quality French baked goods. I came early (8:30) on a Saturday and picked up some of my favorite french breads for the week - a pain suisse, pain au chocolat (or cho-colette) and a chausson aux pommes. These were all as expected - flaky, buttery and so delicious. Service can be a bit slow with staff rotating between cashier and grabbing bread for customers. Still totally worth the wait. There's a few tables inside to sit at but those also get occupied fast. For parking, there's street parking nearby that I'm sure fills up through the morning.

Known for their pastries, the food was tasty. Wasn't a fan of a couple of items, but more of a preference. I also had their coffee, a bit too sweet for me, but I need to give it another chance. The staff is incredibly friendly and kind. There's a good amount of seating inside, but not too much. I believe they'll have more outdoor seating during the warming weather days. We'll need to come back at some point.

Saw the good reviews and decided to try. Wasn't as impressed as some of the other reviewers. Parking was kind of tough. Service was a little awkward, and thought the desserts we got were slightly better than average.

Fabulous French bakery located within walking distance of the Ball Square T stop (Green line). We were visiting Somerville over a long weekend and stopped by twice. Both times we ordered the kouign amann (yum!) Also ordered the cho-colette, almond croissant, and pain suisse. All the pastries were freshly made and absolutely delicious. Very reasonably priced, too! Staff were very friendly. We did have to wait for a few minutes outside because the bakery is fairly small, but it's well worth the wait!

What a lovely bakery! We made the trip up from Boston to pick up treats from this cozy bakery one Saturday at 1p. Easy free parking across the street and a quick line to order in the well-attended store. Wish we had taken more pictures before devouring the goods on the drive home, but the 5-6 treats were all really solid. None wowed me to the point of having ongoing cravings, but I can't wait to try more of their selection in the future.

Very cute and busy cafe/bakery!! It was packed when I went around 11AM, luckily they still had the some of the pastries I wanted. My iced chai was sweet and flavorful and the chocolate croissant was huge, flakey & buttery! Need to go back to try the almond croissant and some savory options :)

I'm visiting from out of town and stopped by on a recommendation from a local friend. So glad I did! They have a beautiful selection of sweet treats as well as sandwiches and loaves of bread. Many people order to go, but they have a few tables inside if you want to eat there. The whole place has a cute and quaint atmosphere. We got a Cho-Colette (chocolate croissant), an Amandine (almond tart with pear), and a Tarte Citron (lemon tart). I particularly loved both of the tarts! The amandine was less sweet than I expected, a lovely balance of nutty and sweet flavors. The tarte citron had a delightfully strong lemon flavor! And of course both were visually works of art! Can't wait to return when I'm in the area again!

Lovely little bakery! Solid pain au chocolats, good airy layers in the bite, soft and yummy, but not a crispy crackly outer layer (maybe they were when they first came out of oven?). Kouign amann has good flavour but also was more dense in texture than I'd hoped. Chouquettes (pictured) are out of this world! Perfectly sweet with a hint of saltiness, egg-iness. Bought more to go after eating in store. Staff at the bakery are friendly and cheery. They do serve drinks, coffee and more, but my impression is that it's more about the pastries and baked goods and less about the drinks here. Definitely would return! Will be dreaming about the chouquettes.

Overall: to illustrate the mystique of this place one elderly local noted how the first place they went to after getting off their plane was Colette bakery. And I can see why. Baked Goods: if the French accents didn't convince you of their authenticity then perhaps the French customers might. After having tried their ham and cheese croissant and chouquette it's easy to love this place. The main highlight I would say are their bite sized caneles. While they are smaller than your average ones they pack an absolute mean punch. It's not about quantity but quality and the quality of their ingredients is enhanced incredibly. The color is a darker brown indicating the rich caramelization process that consumes your tasting experience. Ambience/Decor/Service: what's nice about this bakery is that you can pre order SOME things beforehand and they set them aside for you to pick up. Great way to insure you get the hotly contested caneles.

Very cute cafe but first visit was a little rocky. Most likely will try again because it showed promise. Food: I got a baguette sandwich with pate and it was ok. The pate was decent but the bread was a bit too tough for a sandwich. Besides that the pastries seem to be good based on the reactions of others I went with. Service: The ladies who work here were very nice but got side tracked and didn't make my iced coffee. I wasn't charged for it and after I noticed they moved on the serving the group behind me. I remember getting asked if I wanted anything in it and responded so I was confused as I waited by the register for the rest of my order. I waited a couple minutes but I couldn't get there attention, so because I checked that I wasn't charged I just called it a loss and moved on. This was the primary root of my mild disappointment. Atmosphere: The vibe and decor was simple, but well curated to mimic what I imagine a Parisian cafe would resemble Very cute cafe but first visit was a little rocky. For drinks, the matcha was very watery and doesn't need to be in the menu, so I would suggest sticking to standard coffees but I can't vouch for their taste either. Colette is a charming local bakery with a great selection of classics from French macarons and baguettes to cookies and more elegant pastries. Everything we had was well executed and tasty on the level of a good neighborhood bakery. They also have a full coffee bar and a nice seating area to enjoy your treats.

These pastries are the best I've tried in Boston. Lots of options to choose from! I got the pain au chocolat and the chocolate brioche. 10/10 The service was quick but I was not rushed and had time to choose. Will definitely be back!

I used to live across the street and walk here all the time. I recently returned and it was just as good as I had remembered. Very simple and fresh ingredients with amazing taste!

We had such a hard time choosing and settled on the walnut baklava roll and the muska kataifi pisatchio. Everyone working there was so friendly and helpful and even with a line out the door, they were able to keep things moving smoothly. They also gave us small chai samples while we waited to be helped (the chai was spicy and not overly sweet). The baklava and kataifi were perfect -- no notes. Baklava had a great ratio of flaky pastry layers to walnuts. Each bite had the right about of crunch and nuttiness. The amount of syrup used was just right also. Kataifi struck a similarly great balance: a crunchy and sweet shredded wheat exterior rounded out by the richness of pistachios. I wish I could come here all the time and try everything. Definitely keeping this place bookmarked for any future trips to Boston.

Walked in and was greeted with a sample of chai and 2 sample desserts. Ordered the chocolate pistachio cake, This was like Dubai chocolate styled cake with the kataifi in the pistachio. This was nice, I personally could have done without the layer of chocolate on top since it's so hard to break evenly and it was thick in texture to the rest of the cake. The pistachio ricotta cake was phenomenal. I wasn't expecting it to be so light and airy, I had to hold myself back from inhaling the whole thing at once. Both were shared and I got a baklava for my personal treat. I'll be back again very soon!

They are open Sunday, Wednesday, snd Friday, and you can order in advance if you want. They offer many of the same baked goods each day, but they also have some items that are only available on certain days of the week. For example, baguettes and sesame sandwich rolls and ham sandwiches on Wednesdays. They also bake special items for lots of different holidays, now they have hamantaschen for Purim. The croissants are laminated beautifully and buttery and light but not greasy. I'm also a fan of their curried chickpea handpies, wacky cake (chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and sprinkles for such a reasonable price). Their pies are outstanding. Basically anything you try will be delicious. The owners snd staff are all friendly and accommodating. You don't go inside the bakery. Instead you order from outside and get your order at a window. This is quick and convenient. There is a pretty menu of the items available in the window of the store. This is my favorite bakery in the greater Boston area and I'm lucky that it's near my home.
