Had lunch here with coworkers a few months ago and enjoyed it. Decided to order breakfast for pick up today and it was good also. I can't recall what kind of sandwich I got when I dined in for lunch, but do recall that it was good and so was the service. Today, I ordered soft fried eggs, hash browns, candied bacon, and a croissant for breakfast along with a pain du chocolat. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The candied bacon did not taste candied at all and was more like slices of ham than bacon in my book, but they were tasty. The croissant was delicious, but I was not a fan of the hash browns. The flavor was okay but they were just hard. I took a few bites but didn't finish them because they were just too hard. I would not order them again. The chocolate bread, however, was divine. It was a good balance of bread and chocolate so that neither was overwhelming. While I would not order the hash browns again, everything else was good enough to warrant a return for breakfast in the future. read more

Had to stop at Douceur de France again while in Marietta, and once again, was delicious. It was 12:15 and luckily found the last parking spot, with people eating outside (83 degrees!) and of course, inside. The French bakery side is legit, with all kinds of yummy pastries, breads, deserts and of course macaroons! I ordered the Tourte Au Poulet, a flaky pastry stuffed with chicken, Swiss cheese, onions, bechamel and a nice mushroom sauce on top. Had to bring 1/2 home! My wife got the ham and cheese sandwich and a beet salad and both were very good. The service was quick and friendly and very attentive. It's our regular Marietta stop from now on! read more

I was disappointed with my experience today. After arriving, it took approximately 25 minutes just to be seated, despite the restaurant not appearing unusually busy. Once seated, we waited another 15 minutes before receiving our food. While the food itself was enjoyable, the overall service and wait times significantly impacted the experience. A total wait of around 40 minutes from arrival to receiving food is difficult to overlook, especially for a casual breakfast or lunch visit. I understand that delays can happen, but better communication and more attentive service would have gone a long way. I hope management can address these issues because the quality of the food deserves a smoother dining experience. read more

The ambience is warm like a French cafe, except here the waiters are nice to the Americans. I ordered the jambon beurre, a classic French sandwich made with Black Forest ham, butter and cheese. The baguette is very good and so is the butter. The cheese is disappointing - it should have been a French cheese, such as Comté or Gruyère Français, but this one had Swiss cheese, which is too bland for this sandwich. It also lacked cornichones, which in my opinion are essential to jambon beurre. We loved the Frenchie sandwich (Brie cheese, lettuce, tomato, and butter, on a baguette). Perfect place for breakfast, lunch, or brunch. My bookclub had lunch at Douceur de France today, There were plenty of tables when I got there at 11:30m but by noon the place was packed. So, if you go on a weekend - go early. We all thought the food was delicious. I had the quiche Lorraine with tomato/basil soup. The soup tasted home made and very fresh. The quiche was delicious too. Other people had the spinach quiche, various salads and the chicken pot pie. Everything looked great and we all said we want to come back and try other things on the menu. The room got a little loud, but with so many people that's to be expected. Our waitress was attentive and when she was busy, other waitstaff came to help us. They were all very friendly and helpful. All in all this little restaurant is a winner and one well worth visiting. read more

Whenever I want a taste of Paris that is authentic and fresh and consistent I come here. The food is delicious, pastries are wonderful not too sweet. And the ambiance is lovely too. Only rating it 4 stars because I wish they had a coffee that complements the pastries a bit better. A classic French Roast or beans from Brazil, Peru, Guatemala, Kona or Jamaica would make it a 5/5 for me but very good overall. Staff is friendly and quick too! read more

Hostess didn't seat us, I had to find someone and ask. Staff wasn't trained well, didn't know the menu item names or how to properly check us out. Disaster. Food never came out. 30 mins late I decided to not wait any longer and ask for refund. The refund was done incorrectly by I'm guessing a manager but no idea who the person was. 2nd attempt seemed to work but again this whole experience was horrible. Ambiance was calm, decor is cheesy. I stumbled upon this French bakery and was curious as it looked so cute from the outside. Upon entering you are greeted by some staff members taking orders at the register. They have tons of delicious pastries and a menu with tons of delicious sounding dishes. I got a frenchie sandwich and a chicken salad as well and we chose to sit outside. Each table has glasses and before you sit they do have water glasses ready to grab for each table with ice cold water. I did love that they had those readily available. It was quite busy as it was the brunch hour so def be aware as we arrived at 10:30 and it got busier as it got closer to noon. Staff was quick to bring us our food. It is very self service in the sense of you needing to go back to the front or a small table if you need anything. The food was decent but what impressed me the most was the beignets they had. They were fresh and absolutely delicious! Overall, the experience was nice but I wasn't in love with my food. I will have to go again and try something different for next time! This bakery is the real deal. Authentic old world pastries made with organic wheat, yep, you can buy here bread and pastries without glyphosate (an extreme rarity in the USA). They obviously put a tremendous amount of care into all of their pastries, the sourdough bread is absolutely amazing. The food here is really good. I wish that you could order at the table. It's kind of strange because the dining area is very diner-y, but you order at a counter. A couple of anxious young men stand at the head of the dining room, running food out and pensively watching the patrons for tables which need clearing. The couple of times that I have asked them for assistance, they haven't seemed super capable. However, all that being said, I am starting to love this place. Once seated, the table area is very comfortable. The main appeal, though, is the food! It's delicious!! The eggs, baguette, French toast, croque monsieur, the croissants--all delicious. The hash browns aren't my thing, nor is the pesto omelette. Surprisingly, though, my favorite items are some of the patisserie! So many places make beautiful patisserie that are bland and flavorless. I picked up a cherry oatmeal cookie and a mini lemon meringue tart. The cookie had a nice chewy consistency and the tart had a nice crust. Overall, this patisserie and cafe pales in comparison to the Marietta location. The selection of pastries, cakes, and prepared foods is much smaller and doesn't look as fresh. I will have to trek out to Marietta when I am craving an almond croissant or a sable cookie. read more

Just sat for 30 minutes after ordering my food. Decided to leave because I was with my 6 year old and couldn't sit there any longer. Went to the register to say I was leaving and was told my food was never put in. Fucking awesome... if you get the white trash looking waitress I would highly recommend leaving immediately. You get the honor of waiting for her to finish her smoke break before she grants you the right to pay the bill. I really like their food but have been burned by this waitress too many times now. So sad..... they changed their tart... they used to have one of the best in town- great ruffle edges with thick crisp buttery crust. Now it is the round tart you can get anywhere, not as crispy or snappy. What's worth is that the baguette I bought looked, felt, and tasted like a day or 2 old. I didn't realize it until I brought it home. It was hard as a rock. It was ridiculously hard, and i threw it away. What a waste of time and effort. During this visit, they did not have any baguette on display, so the store clerk brought one out just for me when I asked. I assumed it would be fresher than if they had some on display. Wrong!!!!!!! I used to drive to this establishment just to buy their baguette, but this will be my last. Thet still have "pretty" pastries, but my guess is either their management or pattisser changed. read more

This place used to be a great hidden gem but recently I've had two negative experiences that highlight the decline of eating out. While the food is consistent the service is hit and miss. Pair the staff issues with a privileged clientele and I will pass and find a new gem. Both issues came with poor service recovery attempts that would have made Jack Welch cringe. A 10% discount on a subsequent order ($3?) and an offer to trade my chicken panini for a ham and cheese when one of their customers ran with my order without so much as a look to ensure it was theirs. Instead the staff berated each other and left me sitting there shocked at the business sense that lacked. And after I declined the ham-cheese substitution they told me I would get a refund in 2 business days. No other attempt to retain my patronage. Well at least the woman and her kids who took my son's order to her husband in the car look well fed and like future customers. read more
