Went to this cafe for the first time ever! Was very very excited just to be extremely disappointed with the bad service. My server was Arfan and he was nice and was kind, it wasn't that good of service. I had menus on my table with my friends for a good portion of our meal. He also checked in on our only twice throughout my entire dine in experience. I had to ask for water about twice. For it being such a nice restaurant the random dusty fans surrounding the tables seems very off putting and is gross. read more

I had the chance to get back to my old neighborhood last week and was able to visit the trendy Avalon outdoor Mall. I was never able to try Café Intermezzo and this was a perfect opportunity. What a cool business. Very smarty decorated with upbeat servers and a menu filled with creative choices. I was trying to be a little healthy with my choices so I went with the Mediterranean Veggie Wrap. It came on soft fresh Naan Bread, fresh made hummus, mushrooms Tapenade, tomato's, with spinach leaves, goat cheese and artichokes. It was absolutely delicious. A side of fresh strawberries made for a tasty and perfect lunch. Great service and a good price point will surely make for a return visit. Not very many tables so plan accordingly, especially during the lunch rush. read more

Intermezzo cafe - true to its name is connecting musical movement between other musical work, or in this case a small meal between larger meals! That aside it is made to look European but theme is all over the place. German/Austrian interior, with Italian and French food. The language tape in the bathroom is however teaching Korean and Chinese... I dined here about half a dozen times. It is a nice place with mixed results. Sometimes it is really good, other times not so much...in particular I could say Hummus is good, White Hot Chocolate, Bosco cake is delicious (imported from Italy). Service is good and servers are polite and friendly. Management is not great. If they are busy they will have a wait which could range up to an hour. In my experience one hour wait could turn out to be 10 minutes. Other times 40 minutes wait is actually 50 minutes. As I live close by I have attempted to call and put myself on the wait list and arrive when they are ready but management would not budge. This will be on their terms with zero flexibility... They also sell cakes but cakes are always turned away from the customer...I have not seen this anywhere else...it really points to the fact that management has little experience in hospitality industry.... Lastly this place does not accept cash. Not sure why since they are located in super safe area. Consequently a 5-star review is really a three star and perhaps I am being very generous here... read more

This was our second time visiting Cafe Intermezzo on a trip into town, and it never disappoints! The cozy interior feels like popping into a French cafe for the day, and I love the decor and all of the windows. We started with a baked Brie for the table, which was great! We also had a variety of drinks, including the fabulous hot chocolates and a hot latte. The latte was excellent! I enjoyed the American breakfast with a croissant, and everything hit the spot for me. I love classic breakfast food! My boyfriend ordered the avocado toast and the croque-monsieur and he really enjoyed both, though the carbs really filled him up! There's always plenty of food here and we always leave full. Service is always kind and efficient, but we don't feel rushed through our meal. Can't wait to visit again! read more

Came in last night after a lovely dinner at the Italian restaurant up the road. We were aware that the restaurant is closing, but they were at least 8 to 10 tables still eating. We asked for 3 Fra Angelico shots, & some waters. The bartender's response... "you know we close in 1 minute, right?" I was taken back having worked in the fine dining restaurant industry before... I've literally never been talked to like that before. Our friend who we were with offered to pay the bill... $41 for the 3 drinks, & I encouraged her not to tip because of the rude interaction. The bartender proceeded to sit across from us & hysterically laugh with his coworkers, & make it known that we tipped $0... further justifying the decision was the right one. My wife was very excited to share an after-dinner drink at this Cafe... & left astonished that anyone would ever treat guests the way we were treated. Needless to say, we will never return. Seating was a pain - we were told 45 mins, which turned into well over a hour, but the food was worth the wait! I'd been to the one in Midtown a couple times, but only for coffee and dessert. I was planning on trying the chicken Florentine crepe, but our server got excited and talked up the spicy tortellini. She was right! It didn't disappoint! I ordered mine topped with chicken and my friend chose salmon. Both were delish. The portions were hearty so we were stuffed but still made room for dessert and hot chocolate. In a non-busy time of the day my group of 7 was looking at the items in the display case. 3 of us, 2 older and one younger sat at a table while each person in our group ordered desserts. We were asked to stand. There was NO ONE inside. Very odd. After we all got finished ordering the lady in the black dress said, "we'll since we are not busy you can sit." Loved my visit to Cafe Intermezzo at Avalon in Alpharetta. A friend of mine recommended me come here since it was her favorite when visiting the area. I was super excited to see a location not far from my hotel. We sat outside for simple tea and donuts from across the way. It was relaxing and carefree. Everyone working here was friendly and I waited for my teas to walk outside and enjoy the fresh air. Hope I can come back here and have more. Overall, an okay experience. As fancy as this place is, the price is a bit much for an espresso drink. I asked for a coffee drink that came not even half full. We ordered a coffee and latte. The atmosphere really elevated my dining experience when the service and food were slacking. We chose to sit outside, and it was gorgeous at the outdoor seating. It was simple yet peaceful. There's only a handful of seating out there, and the tables are small. Menus were provided via QR code, and I like how they had separate menu for drinks, food, and desserts. Love the creativity for the drinks, I don't think a lot of places serve coffee or iced coffee with alcohol. I got cafe dulce vita. It was sweet, and you don't taste the espresso or alcohol after you mix the drink. For my entree, I got the smoked salmon bow tie pasta. The photo doesn't show it but they sprinkled bits of smoked salmon in it. Yummy, who can go wrong with pasta? There wasn't much of the tricolored tortelini, and it was not spicy at all. It was like the kick of some sprinkled pepper. It was creamy, and we got one with some overpriced grilled chicken. For dessert, we got a tiramisu to share. Very soft, but I don't think it was worth $11. Overall, I think the food and drinks are on the pricier side compared to their proportions, but the presentations were decent. There's a free parking lot next to Avalon. The location of this place is still ideal and adorable. The inside seating seemed too dim for us, but it gave a very nice, modern, intimate quiet dining dinner date vibe. On the other hand, service was slow. I was offered a seat at the bar instead of waiting 35 minutes for a table, which was a nice touch. The food didn't quite live up to expectations, though. I ordered the Belgian waffles expecting something freshly made, but I watched them come out of a package and warmed up instead. (Maybe the bar seat wasn't such a great idea?) For a place with such an upscale vibe, that was pretty disappointing, especially given that the food is somewhat expensive ($11). It kind of took away from what should have been a better dining experience. Overall, Cafe Intermezzo is a great choice if you're looking for an impressive coffee or a place to relax, but the quality of some menu items leaves room for improvement. This is a very cute cafe. It feels like you're in Europe when you're here. I stopped in for lunch. They offer breakfast/brunch. Food was delicious. I got the bruschetta as a starter. It was SO good! I got the Caesar salad with grilled chicken. Let me say, that grilled chicken tasted so good. Usually I get grossed out by grilled chicken but that was amazing. I would definitely come back here! First, the good. It's located in Avalon amongst all the stores and I came upon it as I was walking. Thought I'd stop by for a latte but wanted to sit outside. I asked the host if I could see the menu before ordering and he said no, that I could go to the counter at the end to look at theirs. I get there and there's short line and no menu in sight. Now, it's my turn and I don't know what they have to offer. The young man was helpful after I looked at the extensive menu that was overwhelming. I place my order and upon pick up was heading outside to sit and enjoy it. Then, a new server tells me I have to order something else outside in order to sit there "because you're taking a table away from a server". I show him that I just ordered at the counter and the host told me to, and he simply reiterated that I had to order more to sit there. I started feeling the emotional rise, told him their whole process was confusing and unhelpful and left. Lucky for me, I found a beautiful tree to sit under in the front and enjoyed my drink. It was only an okay latte; nothing to write home about. That's my review and I'm sticking to it. read more

There can be a rush to find parking during the busy crowded season. --Ambiance-- The café is in the center of the walking street area, which makes a small nice cozy coffeeshop, but the wait time can be a bit long. --Service/Staff-- The hostess was friendly in helping me get a table. I didn't realize the long wait time. She was able to help even during shift change in getting me a table for two in such a short time frame and without my phone to text me. --Food/Products-- Flat White was typical, but not as sweet. The pies portion that was off in the corner which they are known for was a bit difficult to see and was mixed in with a to-go line, which makes sense for a big bakery. --Capacity-- Limited seating during rush hour, but plenty during off-hours which is a perfect time to go. I saw only about 7 or 8 tables available on the inside. I didn't get to see how many tables were on the outside. --Overall-- Recommended for a dessert place or you are shopping in the Avalon district. I would not come here to relax and chill or work. I loved everything about this place. well drinks done right, one of the best burgers I had in a while though this place does not strike me as a burger eatery- it was on a recommendation by a bartender that I opted for burger with bacon. sweets are incredible. I am not a fan of over the top sweet pastries so it was refreshing to find flawlessly executed high quality ingredients French style pastries. Double espresso was spot on. If there is one critique I can provide is that a lemon twist peel to go with an espresso would have made this experience 100% satisfying. I guess I'll have to settle for 99.9% satisfaction! I love Cafe Intermezzo!! I've been going to all their different locations around Metro ATL and visited this one on my most recent visit. My family and I came for drinks and dessert on a Friday night. The wait is always pretty long for Intermezzo, but it was pretty long on this particular visit, waiting about 45 minutes! We were finally seated on the patio. We split a few coffee drinks and dessert, including an Oreo cheesecake which was my absolute favorite! I love how silky and rich their desserts. Overall, great spot for drinks and dessert, but come early or be prepared to wait. read more

Located in the center of the Avalon area this is a nice cafe. We came here after dinner to get some hot chocolate for the kids. It was cold and this was after the lighting of the Christmas tree ceremony. It was very busy and they had signs that you were not to come in without reservations. They had no open seating and due to the volume you were supposed to go to the walk up line. My wife went in and we waited outside. IT WAS VERY COLD! Luckily they did have heaters set up to stand around but the space around them was a "hot" commodity. Once you lucked into a spot you better not move! It took forever and a week to get the hot chocolate! I mean a long fricking time. I realized they were busy but staffing for the event should have been a must... even with the heaters outside we about froze waiting. Tip: if you are expecting the sickly sweet hot chocolate of Hershey's or Swiss miss this is not what you will get! This is a decadent, rich, full flavor real chocolate, hot chocolate. My youngest did not like it but I thought it was wonderful!! It was a great treat to end the night on... much better then the ice cream my oldest wanted... Today, I got the turkish coffee which has a strong taste with the grounds mixed in the dark beverage but it will definitely give you a kick start! It comes in a bronze pot and is served on a silver platter for a beautiful presentation. I was hungry so I got a seafood crepe which was a tad too spicy for my taste but overall the flavor was nice. The wait was an hour and the hostess put us on a list and I received a text when our table was ready, which was great. This location is not as big as other locations that I've seen- it's real quaint. Busy morning at Cafe Intermezzo but it's Christmas Eve so we expected a wait. Once we were seated the service was really fast. We started with the White Hot Chocolate DeLuxe which comes in a large enough cup to share for 2. I ordered the Croissant with Scrabble Eggs and my husband ordered the Chicken Salad Croissant.
