French toast is the BOMB! It is Texas thick and doughy in the middle. Yum!!! I had the stacked huevos with red AND green sauce...VERY tasty. My hubby had the red and green omelette; it was good but he liked mine more. The "fruit-face" pancake was super cute and the kids loved it. Actually just as great as everyone says. Super friendly, clever waiting list, and while you wait you get coffey. It's almost always a short wait but it's worth a long wait. I understand that everyone- everyone- is dealing with a great deal right now, especially food service and the hospitality industry. Definitely a time when the best will shine and make it through all of this. Unfortunately, this place wasn't one for me. There was a 15 minute wait for a table- which I am totally cool with. Good places are worth waiting for, right??? I was told I couldn't "hang out" and that I should go for a walk and they would call me when my table was ready, which I did. After 15 minutes I hadn't received a phone call, so I decided to head back to the restaurant. When I arrived I was told that my table was gone and I would have to wait again since they had called me "3 minutes ago" and I had not answered my phone. As I stood waiting for the second time for a table a voicemail popped up on my phone. Obviously my carrier does not have the greatest coverage in Durango Colorado. I was determined not to let any of this spoil my breakfast however when my breakfast arrived I decided I could no longer not leave this review. Cold eggs and veggies scramble with unmelted shredded cheese on top, raw and crunchy fried potatoes, and bad service. I felt rushed and that I should be grateful that they even served me. We decided to get breakfast here before heading out to ski, due to the great reviews. I had the traditional eggs benedict and my husband had their oatmeal and we split a pancake. I was expecting to be blown away because of the reviews. There was nothing spectacular about the food or the restaurant. It was average and I'd probably check out other breakfast places before going back. The staff are nice and the service was just ok. We had food with no silverware and we had to wait for the server to bring drinks to a couple of tables (while holding our silverware) before we got them. My husband got the Denver omelette with a little change up and enjoyed it. The service was great! We had a training waitress and her trainer and they were extremely friendly and courteous. The chorizo was served separately in a bowl, very delicious and a little spicy, no grease. Biscuit was fluffy with a crispy top. Gravy was delicious thick with sausage. Arrived for lunch, neither of us were in the mood for breakfast.....but we sure wish we had opted for breakfast instead of lunch. Both of us ordered the turkey with bacon and Swiss, one with home fries, the other with salad. The "kaiser" rolls were soggy on both. The turkey was pressed...had to be, when was the last time you saw a square turkey? Tasted okay, but not delicious. One of us had bacon that was less then cooked...and both of us agreed it lacked any crispness. My salad was hot...I mean, the lettuces were literally hot (from a fresh out of the dishwasher plate, or heat lamp?) I don't know which, but it was not appetizing. The home fries were neither home nor fries...more like smashed boiled potatoes. If they were thrown in a pan to gain some golden crispiness we all know and love, that pan must have been ice cold, not even the slightest hint of golden deliciousness was present. The pickles tasted fresh, they were crisp and both of us enjoyed these the best (we enjoyed the ice water too, does that count?) Service was swift and friendly, parking can get challenging. Unless a trusted member of my dining party can give me a compelling reason to return for breakfast, I likely will never return. And then again, even if the reason were compelling, I'm not really a fan off eggs, so chances are I won't return anyway.
