It is difficult to adequately articulate my disappointment and frustration with Collegian Movers, but I feel compelled to warn others about the experience. I'll briefly mention a lack of transparency regarding charges: despite our move occurring at a very short distance (between neighboring buildings in an apartment complex), half of the booked four hours were billed as 'travel time.' Though this alone might have been overlooked, the movers assigned to us were woefully inefficient. Instead of diligently moving our belongings, they seemed more interested in dragging their feet and wasting time. As a result, my partner and I were left to frantically move over thirty boxes of books ourselves, scrambling to complete the job that we had paid Collegian to do. To add insult to injury, when we reached out to customer service to address our grievances, we were met with dismissiveness and blame-shifting. Worst there, Collegian's representative had the audacity to suggest that we ought to have reprimanded the movers for their lack of efficiency (rather than acknowledging their own culpability for maintaining a standard of quality for the work of their employees). As a result of these experiences, I strongly advise anyone considering hiring Collegian to proceed with extreme caution. From deceptive pricing practices to incompetent movers to substandard customer service, they have proven themselves to be at best unreliable. Save yourself the headache and seek out a reputable moving company that values integrity and professionalism. read more

I can't say enough great things about Collegian Movers; from the reservation to the initial meeting they provided professional and courteous service. This was the second time that we used them to move us. I had originally looked around and compared prices, reviews, and it was true, prices are about the same with every moving company. I chose Collegian Movers initially because they had moved my friends to Orlando Florida and then chose them again because of my previous experience with them. It is very hard to find a good moving company that you can trust. I was referred to them by my sister when she used them for her move a few years ago and we were so incredibly pleased from initial call through execution. Everyone we dealt with was kind, professional, and on top of their game. We had a number of issues crop up with the close date of our house and Collegian moved our moving date no fees, no questions asked, no frustrations, etc. They even made some incredible recommendations to help us in our housing woes and seemed more concerned with helping us rather then worrying or being frustrated that we had to change dates a few times. As for the day of, we had 3 men helping us and they were amazing. Clean, efficient, professional, and meticulous. Anytime we tried to help or offered to do our part, they reminded us to relax and this is what we were paying them for. We ran into a few issues getting furniture in and they gladly took a door off its hinges, grabbed a power drill to remove feet from a couch, etc. no questions asked. I cannot recommend them enough! Additionally, the software they use for the move to upload your photos and inventory was amazing. I sought estimates from three moving companies for a recent local move. From the first moment of phone contact with the company, Collegian set themselves apart with excellent and personable customer service. Their bid was competitive with the other companies -- and the final price (based on the time the move took) actually beat their estimate by more than 10%. The moving crew itself arrived right on time and was beyond professional. They took all proper Covid-19 precautions (wearing masks while in the house, etc.), even on a sweltering hot day, and all of our belongings arrived without so much as a scratch on them. The movers learned my kids' names within minutes of arriving and kept them entertained as they carried boxes and furniture in and out of the house. After the movers left, we couldn't find a couple of small pieces to a wardrobe cabinet that needed to be disassembled, but even this minor hiccup was resolved quickly and favorably when the company found those pieces in the moving truck two days later and quickly agreed to ship them back to me (I share this last part not as a complaint but as an example of how their excellent customer service continued even after the move was completed). I have used Collegian Movers for my own move from Connecticut to Block Island, Rhode Island; my mother used them from Connecticut to Nantucket, Massachusetts; and my aunt from Connecticut to Nantucket, Massachusetts. All moves went really well, especially considering the logistics of moving to islands where a lot of advanced planning has to happen. I will continue to use them for any move in the future, and have recommended them to many of our friends, including several realtors. They were always on time, careful to wrap things very securely (we had a lot of antiques and paintings that needed special care). We have also stored some things at their storage location in Milford. When we came to empty everything out, they were completely accommodating. George and Matt were great every step of the way. Something unique that caught my attention was that many of their employees were at each move that my family and I made. These moves were over four years. I have used Collegian Movers several times to move throughout CT, and most recently used them to move from Stamford to Western NY. Their price was substantially lower than some of the major national moving companies and I was able to get the move booked easily, without having to meet an estimator at my home for a walk-through. Given the tight timing of my move this was a huge plus. The staff at Collegian Movers were incredibly flexible as my plans shifted and items making the trip changed. On the day of, movers came on time and were professional, efficient and incredibly careful with my belongings. Furniture was wrapped and fragile picture frames, mirrors and my TV were packed in cardboard sleeves. I had a last minute long distance move and Collegian nicely accommodated me at a reasonable price. They made the process easy with a phone assessment and qoute then followed up multiple times before my move. I liked that they had me sign a health questionnaire beforehand, which means they care about the safety of their movers. The movers Ferris and John were not only kind but, also on time and wearing PPE as they moved my furniture. When I needed weigh station reports to be reimbursed by my job, they went out of the way to find an open location, since most were closed due to COVID and then the staff nicely emailed them to me. After a truly traumatizing move last year with a different company, I decided to give Collegian Movers a try and I am 1000% happy that I did! The office staff was so helpful every time I called with a question leading up to my move. The day of, my move team worked so quickly and took great care of my stuff. We are very happy with Collegian Movers. We hired them to move us between houses in Westport CT. The whole team was terrific. They packed quickly and carefully. They moved our entire house, including furniture, beds, paintings, mirrors and a lot of random items from our backyard and garage -- BBQ, sports nets, bikes, etc. Everything made it to the new house without incident. Collegian took the stress out of our move within Connecticut. Though we packed our own boxes, they carefully wrapped all furniture and made sure that it got to the right place in our new home. There wasn't a scratch on anything we moved, or on the newly finished floors of our new home. Our team (Dwight, Eric and Gregory) made an extra effort to get several large items up a tiny staircase. The three men assigned to our move were efficient, communicated well, were professional, helped us with things not planned, like packing, took extra care with fragile things. they were extremely organized. The move took 12 hours with a stop at a storage facility and then a stop at our new condo. These men worked diligently and never took a break. We contracted Collegian to move a washing machine upstairs to a new second floor laundry room renovation. It does seem expensive to hire pros to move a single thing, but a few hundred bucks is worth it in the long run. The gentlemen who arrived were super polite and friendly and strong and capable. I enjoyed talking with them - even had a minute of scholarly conversation about the environmentalism and spirituality books that were stacked for the move.
