Went here with my family while we were reunited in St. Louis. Small place, but very comfy feeling. It's situated right in a neighborhood so I can tell its a place the locals love. Service was awesome, I ended up losing my uncle during the time at dinner and our server was very sweet and accommodating. Food was great, I tried the smoked salmon spinach dip, burger and the gooey butter toasted ravioli. The burger was my favorite because it was cooked medium perfectly, which is hard to come by nowadays. The dessert was pretty good too, but I should've asked for a scoop of vanilla ice cream instead of whipped cream; that would've really set it off! Overall a great experience and I wish I could come by again. read more

This place will not disappoint! We were looking around for a spot to have dinner and we came across pit stop. We figured great! Let's try something new. Immediately when arriving we noticed that the atmosphere was very lovely. Well organized for the small area they had to work with. We appreciate at the restaurant was very warm now that the nights are getting really cold. The service was quick to see us and our table was already ready by the time we got there. We got on the waiting list prior to arriving. The staff was extremely friendly and nice. They were also very helpful when it came to ordering food. We had ordered two appetizers. The bruschetta and the big goat cheese with fig. Both were very good. I had 2 cups of wine. They're house Cabernet Savignon was very good. My sister had ordered the special that was the prime rib. It was cooked perfectly. Her only comment regarding it was that she wishes she would've switched out the Gnocchi for their home made potato but other than that she enjoyed it very much. My brother had the St.louis burger. That was absolutely delicious and they're french fries were great. I had the seafood risotto. Full of flavor had a lot of seafood. Did not disappoint. For dessert we had their special of the churro cheesecake. It was very hearty but very delicious. Overall the food in the service was amazing. My only feedback was that it was a little bit on the pricey side. But you're definitely paying for what you're getting. The food was fresh and didn't feel heavy. Such an awesome little spot! The vibe is terrific with some details remaining from the old gas station. Service was fantastic, we never waited for water or tea refills. We started with the bruschetta appetizer. We ate it all in minutes! Can't go wrong with that selection! I ordered the 1/4 fried chicken with Parmesan green beans and French fries. The chicken coating wasn't as crunchy as i expected, but it was juicy and even the breast was cooked perfectly. My wife ordered the ribeye and holy cow (no pun intended) it was absolutely massive! She couldn't stop raving about it and the mushroom sauce. It was cooked exactly the way she likes it: medium rare. The broccoli with black garlic was so delicious I was very close to asking for a side of it with my meal also. All in all, just a fantastic new find on the Hill. Checked this place out after following them on Facebook for a while. The food looked fantastic. All Of our dishes were very pretty on the plate. The flavors were good. The toasted ravioli, jalapeño glaze and parsnip purée were the things we liked best. The pork belly and Ribeye were good but not great. We had a fabulous anniversary dinner at Collina tonight. We started with an app a calamari, which was fried to perfection with sweet pepper sauce. So good! We both took advantage of the Wednesday $10.99 pasta specials of Linguine di Mare and Fettuccine de Gambari. Good sized portions which were excellent. They also had $5 whiskey specials on Wednesday. Each day their specials are different. The servers were very friendly and attentive, and we got free dessert for our anniversary. Highly recommend this place. read more

WOW I was impressed with this place. Food - OUTSTANDING. I am a vegetarian so I was a little hesitant but I learned it has the same chef as J. Smugg's so I decided to give it a try. I am so glad I did! I got their special of the night, Butternut Squash Ravioli, and it was amazing. The best meal I've had in months. The attention to detail and the way different flavors work together is obvious in this dish and I'm so grateful that the chef is putting forth so much effort for a vegetarian option (which is not very common!). Atmosphere - We sat on the patio which was lovely, the inside looked nice too. Small, but spaced out well for COVID precaution. Nice lighting and decor. Staff - So accommodating and friendly. They even moved us to a table closer to a heater when we got cold. They were thoroughly sanitizing tables in between patrons. Pricing - At first glance at the menu, I thought prices were a bit high for a place called "Pit Stop." However, the prices did reflect the quality of the food and the thoughtfulness put into it. Let me start with self-disclosure. I am Italian. As in "from Italy" Italian. I was pleasantly surprised at the innovative menu that defied dreadful expectations of Fettuccine Alfredo and "red sauce with cheese" whatever else. Very delicious and well presented food was a wonderful surprise. I had the snapper with Mediterranean couscous and my husband the linguine Frutti di Mare. Both excellent dishes, flavorful but not heavy. We shared a wedge salad that was made with Romaine instead of iceberg lettuce - very nice. The wine list is limited but managed a respectable Chianti and sat on the patio which made everything taste better. But. BUT. For the love of God, have someone proofread your menu!!! Items are atrociously misspelled ("panchetta" Is a wooden bench in Italian not the classic rolled Italian bacon!). It was painful. Call me. I will edit for free. read more

Service was great. Entrees were soo good! My mom got the fettuccini di gemberi and I got the seafood risotto. She liked that it was lemon butter sauce and not creamy. I liked that mine was deliciously creamy and they didn't skimp on the seafood. We got the unique dessert of gooey butter cake toasted ravs, and they mostly tasted like funnel cake--neither of us sensed much gooey butter taste. Cons: Small, crowded space My husband and I ate here while on vacation - we chose it because it was within walking distance from our hotel. The layout was a bit confusing, you enter straight into the dining area with no indication if you should seat yourself or wait for staff. It is a small area and very crowded- no place to wait. There is outdoor seating, so if you aren't fond of tight spaces, I'd recommend visiting on a evening with fair weather. We eventually were seated at the bar. Once we had our seats our experience was WONDERFUL. We had the three cheese salmon dip and it was amazing! A must try if you like smokey flavors. All our food was delicious. The staff were so kind and recommended a delicious dessert to finish the dinner. For drink I had a Bees Knees which was fresh and tasty. The bartender did a great job recommending a drink. Overall a great experience. A little expensive for us, but everything was worth the price. An excellent spot to stop in an treat yourself. read more

Rebranded from the casual Pit-Stop, this restaurant sets itself apart from the numerous eateries on The Hill with its seafood-inspired Italian dishes. It was a delicious meal, but of note is the identity crisis this location is experiencing. The dishes and prices are artifacts from an upscale restaurant of yesteryear. The dining room itself is over-lit and a television played Big Bang Theory with the sound off while Y98 hits played over the speakers. If you want to justify what you are charging for a seafood risotto, you should dim the lights and turn the TV off. If I wanted to eat at an Applebee's in Ballwin I'd go to Ballwin. Decor is taken directly from suburban strip mall restaurant outfitters. We had the lobster bite to start. Great alternative if you failed to make reservations at Anthonino's. read more

Usually made with jalapeños (they were out...used a different pepper, but still good just chopped too small and got caught in the straw). Went during STL Burger Week...and boy, was it yummy . We actually dropped in to just see the menu as we had a bit of dinner just before that. About 2 years we came here with some others and the meal I had was wonderful! I ordered the vegetarian meal. It was unique and delicious! I cannot remember what the others had, but all thought it was really good. So, upon seeing their menu, we ended up sharing their small salads just to get an idea of these. Again, we loved the salads, dressings and all the fixings. Also the staff was great and worked with my wife who has to be gluten free. All I know is, we will be back with our friends. The place is an old gas station and is rather cute and not your standard walk in restaurant. We also loved eating outside and watched the local neighborhood folks walking and enjoying the area of The Hill. You will love their food! read more

The Pit Stop is absolutely amazing and one of my favorite dining experiences in a long time. My partner and I were visiting from out of state this weekend and wanted to visit The Hill for great Italian food. It's a small but very cozy atmosphere. They have a large outdoor patio but we opted to sit at the bar. The bartender couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. We started with some cocktails and ordered the Brisket fried ravioli. I have to admit I wasn't sure about ordering these but since it's a St. Louis thing we went for it. OMG they were so good. Smokey brisket in a ravioli served with a beautiful homemade marinara. Wow!! Next we both wanted the Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and asked to share one order. They had no problem with this whatsoever and brought out two bowls which were perfect portions for us. The fettuccine was handmade, cooked to perfection and the garlic Alfredo was dynamite! I don't think I've ever had a better Alfredo! Finally our wonderful bartender/server suggested the Gooey butter cake ravioli for desert. Again, we weren't sure but since it's a St. Louis thing again we went for it. I can't even begin to say how good these were!! Like eating an amazing cake batter in a hot sweet ravioli. So so so good! I would absolutely recommend the Pit Stop to anyone. Tried a new eatery to celebrate a friend's retirement. Choose Pit Stop because of the positive reviews on Yelp and it did not disappoint. Cool atmosphere from a vintage filling station turned into a restaurant. Outdoor eating was so nice on a cool, low humidity Missouri summer evening. Service was good and we enjoyed a nice bottle of red wine with dinner. The menu offers a variety of choices, so there should be something for everyone. Pit Shop is one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants. The vibe is pretty casual with a great patio and friendly service, but the food is top notch. They have some casual sandwiches and tacos on their menu, but I always go for the entrees and pastas. The flavors are so good! Tonight we ordered a go-to appetizer, the brisket toasted ravioli, which came out super quick. They offer a tomato sauce and a green goddess, but I can never decide, so we paid the extra $1 to get both. For dinner, I ordered the linguine with seafood and clams, and took home more than enough for lunch the next day. They also had a whiskey special that night with $5 drinks that my friend and I took advantage of. read more

My wife and I ordered the salmon cakes, the ribs, chicken tacos and toasted raviolis. The salmon cakes were nice and crispy on the outside, nice and smooth and full of salmon on the inside. Quite good. The baby back ribs are good. They have quite a thin bark and are quite sweet. Quite good. The chicken tacos were nice and flavourful. The chicken was cooked just right, the shells were nice and crispy. Quite good. The ravs stole the show. I would have these again in a heartbeat and will probably get them every time I go back. Offering beer items as well as some of the best Sangria around (see pic) A diverse menu with something for pretty much everyone, everything from Steaks to Salmon, to various Shrimp dishes, Pastas, Burgers, Chicken Tacos, amazing salads and yes what appeared to be a few vegetarian items. We had the fall salad and it was excellent! I had the STL blues burger and it was cooked perfectly had a great char flavor, with some great toppings! The bacon on the burger had a "lil jazz" and was superb, fresh toppings on a quality bun. Fries were hot/good (albeit not fresh cut) Her being the Taco Lover was thrilled they have Chicken Tacos on the menu, think fresh made crunchy shells with high quality toppings. We had no plans to order desert however what our waiter presented was intriguing, Sweet Marscapone Cheese Filled Fried puff/ravioli, so we split and order which was perfect and didn't disappoint! I can see Pit Stop Being packed in the summer time when they have the ability to open the garage doors of their renovated former service station. Reservation for 2 and upon arrival promptly seated. Started with a Bourbon Smash for the cocktail and was not happy with this. Server was kind to switch me out for a glass of Pinot Noir and explained that the cocktail was one of those canned mixes. Pass on the canned cocktail. Starters of Brisket Ravioli, which were very tasty and the portion size is ample, enough for 3-4 people. Tried with both sauces, the Goddess and the Marinara...the Marinara wins here. The Baked Potato soup was quite tasty, I rather enjoyed the flavors and the depth of the soup. Crispy Chicken Sandwich with Parmesean Fries for the entree. This fell a bit short for me due to the chicken breast was smaller and thinner than should have been given the size of the bun. It was cooked and seasoned well; not dry. My friend ordered the Salmon dish, which she raved about and cleaned her plate. Dessert... Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake for me, moist and not too dense. Would have been amazing if it had been warmed up a tad to take the chill off. Service was great, very attentive, kind and accommodating. Ample seating and they have a covered patio. This place is so cute! Came here on a whim one day last week. They are offering indoor dining, covered patio, and also have outdoor seating (if the weather isn't too cold). Got the Brisket Toasted Ravioli and crunchy chicken Tacos. The tacos were so good! The pico had this smoked/charred flavor. Will for sure be trying them again. My friend got the Cajun Shrimp (I think hahah) or whatever the dish was that is in my pictures. He liked it. Finished with a peanut butter chocolate cake for dessert! Yum! read more

We stopped in on a Thursday recently, because the place we wanted to try next door was an hour and 30 minute wait. We were seated right away because it was empty. That should have been a sign to exit. If asked if you want the heated patio or inside, choose the patio. It was warmer than inside. It was a little disappointing based on the reviews. The beef medallions were good. The bacon around them was almost raw, but the beef was good. The fettuccine was ok, but the chicken in it was chewy and flavorless. The service wasn't bad. She was quite friendly and accommodating. We probably won't go back because of the quality/pricing. read more
