Overall a great experience hidden in the middle of nowhere in Enfield, CT. We had a craving for ice cream (typical on a hot August day), and decided to explore some of the local ice cream options in the area and came across Collins Creamery on Yelp and decided to give it a try. You pull up to a long driveway that leads to a large white building with a bunch of picnic tables out front. The place was very busy on the Saturday we went, so that's always a good sign. We parked the car and stood in line, eyes fixated on the menu of approximately 30 ice cream flavors. How were we supposed to pick one? I tried the maple walnut (maybe it was maple pecan, i don't remember). I was a little surprised at the prices honestly, it ended up costing us 10 bucks for a medium and large cone of ice cream. I understand it is a small family owned business, but those prices are approaching Coldstone prices, and that just seemed too steep to me. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and helpful in answering our questions. The picnic tables were a little gross however and covered in fresh (wet) and old (dry) ice cream. I get it, kids are messy, but maybe a staff member every once in a while should come out and wipe tables down so we don't sit on purple ice cream and stain our clothes? I get that the place is dog friendly but this over the top! It is probably one the the grossest things I've ever experienced at a business where "food" (ice cream) is served. The ice cream itself is uber-rich, there are usually 20 or so flavors to choose from, so you'll find something you like. I think the prices are very fair for the amount of ice cream you get, too. I usually am satisfied with a regular cup (2 scoops) for $3.50. Today I had caramel-cashew, and it was delicious. My pals bring their dog along when we visit; you can buy a doggie cup, which is vanilla soft serve with a Milk Bone on top! Eating rich ice cream while watching the cows who gave the milk? The ice cream isn't as creamy as other places I've been to such as, Grass Roots Creamery in Granby, Ct. If you have grapenut ice cream, I'm a customer for life. I grew up in New Bedford living on ice cream flavors like grapenut, rum raisin & frozen pudding. You can't find them just anywhere now. Taste tested the Black Raspberry, which tasted only of vanilla to me (was told the raspberry chocolate chip has more flavor, but I'm not a fan of chocolate chips in my ice cream so didn't taste), and the Toasted Almond, which was pretty decent. I wound up ordering the Sample Dish (4 flavors). The Pistachio was good when biting into a nut, but, the ice cream itself could've used slightly more flavor.
