I am so happy I took my car in for a fender repair and a complete in and out detail. My 2007 Toyota Yaris had all the scratches removed, small dents removed...Looks like a brand new car! I'm being very careful where I park it now so that I don't have car doors hitting it. I went down a block and bought new hubcaps to have BumperDoc put those on for me. (They suggested I buy them myself and save money.) Best of all I expected to leave the car overnight and it was finished at 6 pm when they started at 10! Amazing guys and they deserve all the business they can get. Phil, one of the managers, can keep plates spinning all day -- two calls on hold, customers at the counter, take a look at a car outside, and back to the phone all while ringing up my bill. I had gone to Bumper Doc in the past and experienced a good job by them. But not this time. I went in to have my roof of my car painted due to it being oxidized. They were so disorganized. It took three people to write a quote for me. I keep being handed off to someone else as new customers would come into the office. I was there for almost 45 minutes. The one girl who seems the most polite, welcoming people as they came in was being given a very unprofessional hard time by which it appeared to by the manager. The last person said he would give me a discount because of my inconvenience. I felt very uneasy having them work on my car so I went to Convoy Auto Body. They quoted my job for half the price and were very nice to work with. Bumper Doc needs to go back to how they used to do business before I go back there again or recommend anyone going there. read more

I recently bought a Groupon for window tinting and was encouraged by the good reviews on Yelp. Making an appointment was easy and on the phone they said it would take 3-4 hours to complete the tinting. When I arrived to drop off my car they were extremely helpful and friendly. After 4 hours I called to ask if I could pick up my car only to be told that they hadn't started it and it would be at least another 1.5 hours. Needless to say I was a bit disappointed that the time quote was way off as I had to coordinate someone to pick me up and drop me off. The quality of the work was great but I was incredibly disappointed with the time it took to complete the work and the fact that they didn't call to tell me that they were so far behind. read more

Bumper Doc Convoy-If you are going to get a detail here, go down the street to save some money. I'm sure the nearsest gas station offers a better job than their "$225.00 detail"! My car is 2 years old and was pretty much spotless when I dropped it off. It was an easy job detailing my car. I mean, I have a dash cover on my dash board so they didn't even HAVE to clean my dash! However, a reputable company would have ASKED me if I wanted them to clean it OR would have cleaned it regardless. They took this job & did half A$$!! First thing I noticed was that the inside of my rims were not cleaned at all. A $225 detail should clean the inside of your rims, don't you think?! Then when I looked inside my car, under my car seats were not vacuumed, my cupholders, glove compartments and center console were not cleaned. I asked the guy who checked me in if I should take things out of my glove compartment and consoles. He said, "They will take everything out and put it in a bag when cleaning it". Well, I took everythIng out to make the job EASIER on them BUT THEY DIDN'T EVEN CLEAN IT! Didn't tip them because whoever "detailed" my car obviously did not deserve it. And no, I didn't confront them or talk to the manager. Why should I waste my time? If they didn't do it right the first time, my business with them is done. I WAS looking for a reptuable place to take my car to twice a year, didn't find it at Bumper Doc. One thing NICE I will say is that they were very nice and professional over the phone when scheduling a reservation. However, They should proabably learn to be as nice and professional in person. The guy that checked me in did not greet me, mumbled when he spoke, and had no sense of humor. Suggestion to Bumper Doc, you may want to stick with repairing bumpers and take your detail service off your menu. Stick to your business name: BUMPER DOC! read more

We have been loyal customers to Bumper Doc for about 20 years, and have referred countless friends and relatives as well. We have always been very satisfied with the workmanship and service, but recently experienced a disappointing incident. Last weekend I took my vehicle to the Bumper Doc at Kearny Mesa for an estimate for my cracked tail trim piece, and was given a quote of $308, including the part and labor (only a single part was needed for replacement, and I was told it could be done in about one hour). I left, then called back immediately, and told the manager to order the part. He told me he would do so, and it would be in within a few days, and I could wait while it was being repaired. I hadn't heard from them by Tuesday, so I called, and was informed that they had made a mistake on the price--that the new cost would be $460 now. Wow! Quite a discrepancy, I thought. Meanwhile, I got a quote from a very high end body shop, and their price was lower than Bumper Doc's. For good customer relations, and 20 years of loyalty, the folks at Bumper Doc should have honored their original price. read more

Late into the summer of '07, my lil Lexus IS300 became a fender bender magnet. To my dismay, I had an oblivious cell-phonaholic hit me from behind at A RED STOPLIGHT, and two months later, a hit and run at my barracks parking lot. Both times, I took it to Bumper Doc. I must have gotten at least 6 total quotes from other body shops in the SD area and none of them matched Bumper Doc by half the amount! The hit and run could have cost me up to $1050 (per insurance adjustment) but Bumper Doc had it reinforced, repainted, and ready to go in two days, for $350. It looked perfect. Not only that, they guarantee all their work, offer on-site repairs/paint, and have a super professional and friendly staff. Miscommunication and Frustration The lack of customer service really need to improve. No follow up after you drop off your car. Delivery date not met and no call from the shop. I don't know where to begin with this place. Phillip is THE MAN. I got rear ended in 2014 in my 350z, after looking at reviews online I came down here and met with Phillip. He made the process incredibly easy and made my Z look even better then before. I was extremely pleased with the car. Fast forward two years later, and someone hit my car in the parking lot at the mall. I called down to BumperDoc and Phillip answered. Nearly two years later he greeted me by name and remembered the work we had done in the past. You don't get that sort of customer service anywhere else. Long story short I brought my Cadillac here to get the side doors replaced from the side swipe and he got my baby looking brand new. I have had not one, but two great experiences here and would recommend this shop to anyone. I hope I don't have to use their services again but if I ever do get hit or need any sort of work done I will absolutely get my work done here. Do yourself a favor and check them out. My bumper was popped out on both sides for the longest time and was missing a few screws, so what ended up happening was that the bottom lining of the car attached to my bumper started to scrape against both the ground and my front right tire - it looked and sounded terrible. Due to the nature of my job, I have to travel a lot (sometimes by car), so I needed a quick fix. I heard about Bumper Doc from a friend and I also looked them up on Yelp before I made the decision to call to ask if I could stop by to have my car looked at. I called around 3 PM and Ryan, the General Manager, answered right away. He told me it was no problem to bring my car over, so I went ahead and did that as soon as I got off the phone with him. When I got there, Ryan looked at my car, I explained to him what had happened to cause the problem, and he explained to me what could be done to fix it and how pricing was determined. He called someone on the spot about parts and was able to confirm that if he got the parts by tomorrow morning, by car would be ready for pick-up by the afternoon. He also was able to give me a quote right then and there, which ended up being not too far from what the final payment was for the repair. I was interested in the Yelp deal ($30 for services worth $50), so I mentioned that and Ryan simply applied it to my bill (subtracted the $20) without me having to go through the hassle of logging onto Yelp and purchasing it. I ended up paying a little less than $200 to get my bumper fixed, and as promised, I was able to pick up my car the next day. Since I was at work, I let them know that my boyfriend was coming to pick it up for me, and they didn't give us any issues. According to my boyfriend, Ryan even talked to him about how I could prevent the issue from happening again. Needless to say, they did a great job on my car and I haven't had any issues since. Reliable. Inexpensive. Straight-forward service. They don't try to sell you extra stuff that you don't need. They also respond promptly via the online quote service on the website, so if you can send pictures of what needs fixing, they can e-mail you a quote. I will definitely come here again if I have any future auto body issues. read more

My car turned out looking great and the price was about half what I was quoted elsewhere. However when I went to pick up my car I noticed that they had not put the door handle back together on the inside of the car. They said they'd put it on quickly. They did and handed it back to me, but I noticed that the handle was damaged. It seems odd to me that they would try to pass it off as perfectly fine and just hope I didn't notice. I asked them to fix it and they did fix it for the most part, and said if I wasn't happy with it they could order me a new handle part. So overall I was happy that they got the job done, but I did sort of question whether the work they were doing might be a little less meticulous than somewhere else. However, for the price I'd say it's totally worth it, and am happy with the final results. read more

Iv been to this place a few times and before I thought they did a decent job. Today I went and got a deluxe car wash, and paid $40. For that price I thought my car would look perfect and spot free. I even paid to get "extra vacuum" I could have washed my car way quicker then the hour it took them and it would look perfect. I came in to get rid of a bad scuff on my driver side rear bumper and also to remove 3 small door dings. I knew I had a 4th door ding but I didn't think it was that noticeable so I didn't mention it to them at all. When I picked up the car, they told me they saw a 4th ding and fixed it for free. Sweet. So you'd think the free goodies would stop there but noooo, they did more than what I expected them to. I had some scratches on the middle of my rear bumper that required touch up paint. They went ahead and got rid of those scratches also. It took them half a day to do the work and did a good job doing it. I'd give them 6 stars if I could for all the extra work they did for me. read more

Truly some great mechanics and they love their work. The only problem I had was communication hence only 4 stars. After my insurance company got involved, they would send me claims from BumperDoc but BumperDoc never contacted me. Just picked up my Volvo from here. I used the Groupon Tint Special for $125. I have to say great customer service and Justin did a great job with the tint. I was able to make an appointment, they called me the day before to verify, and there was no waiting when I arrived in my time slot. Only downside is that you can't roll down your window for 3 days. Nice enough people I suppose but I had a horrible experience here. They took longer than they said they would. I had to come back a couple times because they didn't do their jobs right. Eventually I had to have one someone from my insurance come down and talk to them. And on top of all of that the cleaners that they use across the parking lot threw out a library tape I had in my car. P.S. They charge 51 dollars an hours for labor! read more

People who swing open doors in parking lots with no consideration of the major door dings they inflict on the cars next to them, are not my favorite people in this world. However, people who fix said door dings at unbelievably cheap prices, with prompt and professional service ARE A-OK in my book. These guys are top notch, professional, incredibly polite and courteous--and most of all they do an amazing job. Was devastated to find that someone had dinged the door of my brand new car, so what do I do? Whip out the iPhone, fire up Yelp and find the closest place that my fellow Yelpers recommend... I drive up and was able to get an immediate estimate and honest assessment of the damage. The guy doing the estimate told me candidly that it would look better, but not 100%. I decided to take my chances given the 50% off paintless ding removal special, and I'm glad I did! About 25 minutes later my car is ready and I'm shocked to find that the ding was completely gone(almost, but way better than what I had anticipated!) I highly recommend these guys--especially for ding removal--for $75 + the 50% off yelp deal it came to $37.50, which is really unheard of for this service. I highly recommend these guys! read more

I took my Infinite G35 in for a rear bumper repair. Phillip greeted me and gave me a quick quote. Noticing their menu, I also asked for a quote on window tinting and exterior detailing. Paid $925 for bumper, tinting, detailing. Bumper looked great when complete, tinting looked great, detailing pretty good overall. They repaired the bumper vs. a new bumper, and you really cannot tell. The bumper job was around $450 vs. a quote of $1200 for a new one..... I recommend these guys, and would definitely go back. read more

You would think a place called "Bumper Doc" would, like, totally fix your bumper. But you would be wrong. I was rear-ended and took my car to Bumper Doc to have them fix it. They certainly got the scuff marks off the bumper, and they were certainly very, very nice... but the bumper did not look like new when I got it back. I can only attribute this to the assumption on my part that the insurance company of the person who rear-ended me did not want to pay for a new bumper---only to tweak the damaged one. So perhaps this is not their fault. Perhaps it is. I don't know. 5 stars for service, personality, all that. Great people. I really, really want to like this place. But it would have been nice if they could they have, you know... actually fixed my bumper? read more

I struggled whether to give 3 or 4 stars on this one because I really don't know who to blame for the fact that my car is still not fixed. My car was broken into and the windows on the driver side door completely smashed. I went to bumper doc for a quote because of the great reviews. They were nice enough to offer suggestions on how to go about getting it fixed and even offered to clean out all of the glass shards that were still in my car. After looking around at a few places and getting my insurance involved (the damage was really expensive) I decided to take my car to bumper docs. It took about a week to fix and I took my car home a happy camper....until the next day. When I shut the door of my car, the window would get caught on the convertible cover, leaving a huge gap in the window. When I took my car back to show them, they took my car into the garage and came back 10 minutes later saying it was fixed. Again, I took my car home a happy camper. The very next day, I shut my door and the window gets caught again on the top. Again, I take it back and they spend about 20 minutes poking and prodding to try and figure out whats going on. They tell me now that they think its a problem with the convertible top and that they will have to contact my insurance to assess additional damage costs. I wait and wait and wait and don't hear anything for another week. Finally I call my insurance to find out whats going on and am told that they were never contacted. I spend another week trying to get Bumper Docs and my insurance connected to figure out what's going on. After they meet I am told that my car will not be fixed under insurance because Bumper Docs is saying they put in the window correctly and its a convertible top problem that was probably pre-existing, while my insurance is agreeing and saying that I can't prove it didn't do that before. Its been months now and my car window still does not work. Bumper Docs was extremely nice and everyone I spoke to there was very helpful but as far as how the car and the insurance process was handled, it took way to long and my car is clearly not back to normal. Buddy and his team are probably excellent at body work and actual bumper repairs based on the other reviews but I can't say that I would go back. One thing I will give them is they are extremely nice, and seem to be honest from what I experienced. On a side note, my insurance is getting a bad review because they should take a little more of the blame for this one... read more

Had my car fixed here years ago and it came out good, but i went there the other day with my friend to get an estimate on her new car. They quoted her $500 to remove a small paint transfer the size of a quarter on the bumper. i do not know if they were trying to take advantage of the new car but it was extremely unethical considering a car wash removed the paint transfer a few days later for free. read more
