She immediately got annoyed when he asked his birth sex to be changed from female to male (because medical offices should have the proper patient information for any medications and whatnot). Then, when she started his cleaning, she asked him if he flosses. Now, none of us are perfect and he has a very busy schedule (not that it's anyone's business), but when he answered that he tries to, but only ends up doing it 1-2 times a week, she got upset and stated that he's "no longer 18 and can make time to floss on the way to work". A suggestion is one thing, but to make condescending remarks about such a small detail to a stranger is not only odd, but extremely unprofessional. It gets worse though. She proceeded to dig into his teeth and gums so hard that his head literally jerked back and he had to ball his fists to manage the pain. The dentist finally checked in to see him and said that his teeth looked very nice and he just had some build up, but nothing they couldn't fix. He's the only reason I'm okay with one star being an option. Once the dentist left, the hygienist came back only to tell my son that his teeth looked "bad" and continued the service. I don't know if she was just having a bad day or if she needs to find a profession that makes her happy, but her unprofessionalism on top of her nasty attitude is enough for my son to schedule elsewhere and i hope that no one else experiences what my son did.

Me and my wife chose My Frederick Dentist for our regular maintain Dental Hygiene. It was the…read moremiddle of the day and I took some time off from work. 3D Xrays imaging was conducted to create a 3D rendition of the oral cavity, which wasn't necessary for Dental Hygiene. It was charged to my insurance.Then 2D X-Ray images were taken in duplicates. I don't understand the need for duplicity of these various imaging conditions. I guess, whenever possible they try to take our hard-earned money to furnish their plethora of instruments and justify otherwise.Then, I waited on the Dental Chair for about 15 minutes for Dr. Sang Cho to attend to me. He had a glimpse at the images and started looking at my teeth. After 5 minutes, he wandered off to talk to some other folks and left waiting for another 10 mins. I told them that I had a meeting to attend after the dental appointment. Finally, he spent 5-10 mins cleaning. The cleaning was poorly conducted (in hurry) compared to other dental hygienists. I believe there is a lack of professional attitude to the patient. The doctor ( dental hygienist himself) hasn't spent enough time attentively to do the job properly. Later on he suggested putting a crown on one of my molars. I got a quote of a total of $900 in which $581 out of pocket. Immediately, there was a red flag. I realized this person is hankering for money from his (new) patients. I have previously done dental treatment such as filling and porcelain crown before with the same insurance coverage that cost me $135 out of pocket. My wife also experienced a similar situation from another dentist in Frederick. Later on she went to orthodontics in Gaithersburg for better and genuine treatment. Learning from the past experiences, I wanted to go for a second opinion. As soon as I requested my X-Ray images they were charging $37 for releasing my record... What a double whammy!! I have already paid for my X Ray. I have also paid for their instrument use and now they are charging more money for giving me what I already own. I don't understand if they have to charge more for releasing my report then why isn't it already included for the first time. I would never go back to Dr. Sang Cho at My Frederick Dentist. I suggest to folks who are reading this review to be careful using this dental service. Addendum: Looking at their pricing disparities (see attached photos), to me, My Frederick Dentist is ripping their customers off at a logarithmic scale. Their website shows (called casting a net) the X-Rays and Hygiene service for new patients is provided at $99 but in reality they charged me $481.00. Also, for the same service, fees varied for me vs. my wife. When we tried to report this in BBB - hehe, not a surprise, it's not accredited - indicates that their discriminatory business practices cannot be trusted.

Dr. Dinh refused to replace the fillings until I had agreed to let him crown both teeth with no pain. I should have ran. I finally agreed to let him crown the two teeth ( one was a molar). After he finished, I had to return to him approximately 7 times complaining that food was getting trapped in between the molar and it had became very painful. Instead of replacing the crown he continued to give me the run - around. Mind you, I had been going to him every 6 month to have my teeth cleaned , examined and x-rayed. All of a sudden he said i had bone loss where he put the crown. I ask, "how could this be"? As a result of his negligence I have severe bone loss where he put the crown and now the tooth has to be extracted. The tooth in front of the molar has constantly hurt every time I bite down on it. Last night (which was a Sunday) my husband had a dental issue that we thought was an emergency. We…read morelooked up "emergency dentist" online and Dr. Skvorak's office number showed up. I called and the recorded message gave Dr. Skvorak's personal number to call during an emergency. Unfortunately, we had to wake him up but he assured us that it would be okay to wait until the next morning to make an appointment. Today we arrived at the office. We had to explain our complicated situation. We temporarily moved out to Maryland from Chicago to take care of my sick father (he has brain cancer) and then to move the whole family out from Maryland to California by the end of this week, so we are only in the area for a few more days. To make things worse, we don't have any dental insurance they could accept (out of state HMO). Noreen, who was at the front desk was so polite and welcoming from the moment we walked in, and she let us know we'd work something out with billing after the appointment. The dental hygienist, Jess, was very patient and willing to answer all of our questions. Dr. Skvorak was understanding, very informative, and straight to the point. He let us know step by step what my husband would go through with a dentist once he gets to California. He let us know it was extremely important to get this taken care of as soon as we have a chance and it would be best to stick with the same dentist throughout the whole process (which would require multiple appointments for cleaning procedures and follow-ups). After the appointment, we went up to the front desk. We were told that this would be a courtesy appointment... I was speechless, and then, I hate to admit, I started to cry! With everything going on with my father's decline in health and having to figure out this move across the country, and then this unexpected dental situation, this was one the most helpful and kindest things anyone, including medical professionals, has done for us. I am amazed that a dentist and his staff would be willing to see a patient who could not promise to come back for follow up appointments and be this kind. If I were to stay here in Maryland, I would drive from Rockville to Frederick just to see Dr. Skvorak again. I highly, highly recommend this practice. Thank you Dr. Skvorak and staff. You have touched my heart more than you'll ever know.

I'm not gonna lie, my visit did not start off on the best foot. I had an appointment for 8:20 AM…read moreand wasn't taken back until 8:45. I was not informed what the delay was. The hygienist Rae (?), was AMAZING. She was super friendly. She took a full set of x-rays since I was a new patient and then gave me a pair of sunglasses to put on before she started my cleaning. They had numerous flavor options for the polishing paste. I was offered cherry, vanilla, mint and cookie dough. She checked on my comfort numerous times while she was working and was very thorough. There is a large flat-screen TV hanging high in front of the chair so you can watch TV while they work on your teeth. Once she completed the cleaning, Dr. Thackenkary came in to do the final examination. He did a complete oral cancer screen and checked the condition of my jaw, teeth and bite. He also explained about the pH of my saliva and how it helped to prevent cavities, which was interesting. He did not try to "sell" me anything else, like tooth whitening. Every other dentist I've been to has always tried to get me to pay for something else. Dr. Thackenkary advised me to come back in 6 months for my next routine visit and gave me a goodie bag with a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss and mouthwash. Neither Dr. Thackenkary or Rae were condescending or rude. I've been to some dentists who get a bit nasty when they are telling you about your teeth and if there is any plaque or anything. Not these two! Rae just explained how to better floss my bottom molars to help prevent buildup in the future. Overall, I was extremely pleased with my visit. Friendly staff and straightforward dental care. I highly recommend others visit Opal Ridge Dental for their dental needs. You'll be pleased.

I had asked if they were covered by my insurance & she said yes so I went ahead and got it. The second time I received it for my other side, the front desk tried to charge me over $400 for it. I was like no- it should be covered that's what I was told by Dr. H. They said okay no worries we'll take care of it. They are calling me now 4 months later saying I have a $700+ bill overdue that I've never received nor was told about when I closed my account in November because of these treatments. Even the person on the phone was telling me she's shocked it's so much because she usually only sees it for $30 a tooth... make it make sense. Where did this bill all of a sudden come from? They better figure it out because I wouldn't have gotten the treatment otherwise if they had stuck to their word. Or had come back multiple times if I had known they were going to be so mistrusting to their word. I'm honestly exhausted of financial malpractice at dentist offices. I had thought I finally found a decent one. But this really took me over the edge. They told me at the end of last year that for 2026 they would stop taking my insurance, Delta Dental, which so many people have. Clearly, there is a disconnect between the patient/doctor experience & financial department & they'll continue to lose patients if they continue this. So beware!
