Normally I would have rated this diner as a 4...but after my last 3 experience I'm down to a 1 and will not be returning! 3 visits ago....about 1 week ago, went for breakfast. Asked for "soft" bacon (bc I HATE hard crispy bacon that crumbles when u bite it). My bacon came out RAW!!!! Really????? Last night (Sat evening around 5pm). We called to do take out....was put on hold bc the hostess doesn't take orders....the phone was placed on the counter and I was left "on hold" for 10 minutes. Pointless to hang up and call back bc their phone was just off the hook!!!! So, we decided to go and sit and wait the 15-20 min to get a to go order. We arrived...took 5 min to have the hostess come talk to us. Then she informed us that a waitress needed to come take our order. I informed her about being on hold...she searched for the phone....and hung it up! Again, we stood waiting for an additional 10 min only to be told repeatedly by the hostess someone will come take our order.....WE LEFT!!!! The last straw was tonight....another call for another to go order. Called, phone placed on counter, "on hold" for 10 min..... IM DONE!!!! WILL NOT GO BACK!!!! read more

Horrible. No compensation for raw food that was ordered well done. Was charged $15 for 2 eggs and hash browns. Owner herself said i shouldn't have eaten anything off the plate. And since i did it was my fault. Never again will i go there. read more

Nice cozy dinner. You get a feel of a family diner. Decent food. Friendly service. Place is clean.

Nothing very special about this diner. Looks nice inside clean and shiny, waitress was pleasant but that is were it ends. Food that is suppose to be hot came out cold including the soup. Hostess/cashier acted like she could care less about her job much less about the customer. Cant blame the waitress she didn't prepare the meal. read more

i love the colonial diner! went last night for an early dinner with my bf. everything always tastes so fresh. we got mozzarella sticks, which came out perfect. for dinner i had stuffed shells parmigiana, which came with a salad (and the salad [although simple] tastes like it came from someone's back yard garden!), and then i had tapioca pudding for dessert. the bf had tilapia francese with rice and broccoli, which i'm pretty sure is the best francese sauce i've ever had. this diner is old-school and prides themselves on good food. i'm never disappointed. read more

Overall solid diner. One of those places where you need to know what to order (breakfast is killer, burgers are so-so, etc). The servers are your classic diner waitress (in a good way) and the food comes out fast and hot. I really dig the window bay too, lights the place up really nice in the daytime. If you're looking for a recommendation, I'd try the chicken fingers, paninis, or Mexican chicken wrap. Just stay away from the cheesesteak. read more

I've been goin to Colonial for a while now, and I must say that they really do a superb job! Cozy typical diner atmosphere when you eat in, and a "ready in 10-15 min" when you call and take out. This is such a cute little diner. I only docked off one star because our waitress had a little attitude when we first got there. We just continued to be nice to her and her attitude softened and she ended up giving good service. I started out with hot chocolate which really hit the spot! The corned beef hash was the best I've ever had, the eggs were cooked perfectly, the hashbrowns were a little bland but still good. I'd definitely come back, it was crowded which typically is a good sign. From my experience, I can see why it's popular and will be back next time we visit. read more

Worst diner ever! I hate this place so much! The food is dry and undercooked. The waitresses are rude and sassy. The coffee must be hours old. And the ridiculous 2 ounce cups they give you for your drink. It's annoying to me and the waitress when u have to refill my soda 12 times. On a busy day expect to wait a while to be seated also expect to wait a long time for your food. Only thing that I like about this place is the look of it. It looks like a real diner. read more

I was traveling for work and wanted diner food to get a good French toast. I remember seeing Colonial Diner on my travels and decided to go there. It was a good choice. French toast, ham and eggs were terrific. On a Wednesday night they were constantly 80-90% full. Service was great and the restaurant is very clean with a good atmosphere If you're looking for traditional diner fare, this would be a good choice. read more

We placed an order for pick-up on Saturday night after arriving at the Empty Bottle for a comedy show to find out there's no food! That's another review. the place was clean and ladies were super friendly. We ordered chicken fingers, cheese sticks & burger and ate at the saloon. Everything was decent, grease was clean. I don't have a reason to ever return to that area but to those that find themselves hungry at 11pm, rest assure their food is good enough to coat the alcohol! read more

This is my second time coming to this diner and I don't remember the first time being so bad. Orange juice was sour as if it's old I than asked if I could have cranberry juice it had a fruit fly. Grant it that happens but gross. My eggs where not fully cooked and the waitress seemed annoyed bc I kept telling her everything that was wrong. To top it off it was unbearably freezing. Not so good. Had the roast beef French dip with fries. The grizzle in the roast beef was so abundant that they should have called it " Grizzly french dip " I had the fries with gravy and it wasn't spectacular either. The only thing that shined was the chicken orzo soup. read more

As if my life couldn't get any worse I picked this night to go to this particular diner alone. Let me start from the beginning... It was a Wednesday night and I was supposed to meet up my this girl I've had a crush on for years. I had made her a mix CD and was eager to give it to her. I picked all the right songs; Silly Girl by the Descendents, Disintegration by The Impossibles... what better way to l exclaim my feelings for someone than with a song that's starts with the line "if you feel like drowning I would drown with you"? Well, about 20 minutes before we were supposed to meet she shoots me a text saying "something came up sorry" and suddenly my heart sunk like the Titanic. And thus began my quest for a sadness meal. I drive to Colonial diner and have a seat in a 5 person booth... by... my... self. I order the chicken fingers and French fries when suddenly the girl I was supposed to meet up with showed up with the guy that I absolutely hate! The kind of guy that's so dumb a douchy that you wonder how they don't forget to breath. They have a seat a few booths from me but don't even notice that I am there. As I shovel French fry after French fry into my mouth I watch her smile and laugh at everything this guy says. My server comes over and asks if I would like anything else... well, as I slip even further into the separating asshole of depression I blurt out "big milk shake" when I should have said check please. What am I doing I think to myself? Why am I prolonging this experience? "What kind of milk shake, chocolate, vanilla or strawberry" the server asks as I quickly blurt out yet again "all of them". She returns to the back and I continue to stare at the empty plate upfront of my with one burnt fry. Is this a metaphor for my life? Am I the lone fry never to be eaten? Left on a plate to be thrown in the garbage? Of course I am. Suddenly I look up and the waitress is hovering over me with three god damn milkshakes. I keep silent as she puts them all in front of me without a peep from either of us. I put a straw in my mouth and look up to see the girl who ditched our date to go out to the diner with the doofus staring at me. She smiles and waves, I open my mouth and let the milkshake run out and the doofus she's with whispers into her ear and she laughs. Then... as if this wasn't bad enough she kisses him as he opens his one eye and stares at me 3 booths away and gives me a thumbs up. What did I do? I asked for the check, paid, walked to my car, grabbed the mix CD along with the letter I wrote inside it and put it on their cars windshield. As I was leaving I realized it was probably his car because she didn't drive. Oh well. The food was good though. read more

Restaurant is filthy. Absolutely horrible customer service!!! Had a very bad experience here. I will never go back. The manager(s) are very nasty and combative. Wait staff is rude and unattentive. You'll need to flag them down to get a simple refil on a coffee. I've eaten here a few times and put up with the poor service and general subpar atmosphere because the food was pretty good. Prices are reasonable too. But one too many bad experiences have sealed this diner's fate for me. read more

Hadn't been out to the Colonial Diner, or even breakfast for that matter, in forever. My family was so disappointed with our food/service. Our food was cold and seemed old. The waitress never came back to ask how everything was so we weren't given an opportunity to send it back. Won't be going back there!!!! read more
