I had gone to Color Key for two of my cars in the past (you can see my review from over 5 years ago), so when I got rear ended on April 1st I knew exactly who I wanted to bring my car too. The damage from this accident was MUCH worse than anything I'd brought to them before, but I was 100% confident that they'd take care of me, in both quality of work and price. So much so that I opted to bring my car to Color Key even though I work for a company that directly contracts with a different body shop. And of course I was right to be confident. Firstly, from start to finish (including fighting with insurance companies and waiting for parts) Jorge had my car back to me in less than a month. I just know that I'd still be waiting on my car for weeks if I had taken it to a different shop. And both Jorge and Patricia communicated with me throughout the whole process. (Ps. They even drove out to my work to adjust a part that came in the mail a couple days later. Talk about above and beyond). Secondly, they really advocated for me and made an effort to make sure my insurance company would not total my car despite the agent in charge of my case wanting to. I'm deeply attached to my car (so much so that I cried even just seeing her on the back of the tow truck) so they really saved my mental well-being along with my car. Especially because... Thirdly, the car looks like absolutely nothing happened. I kept dragging my coworkers (I work at a Kia dealership) out to look at it and they were all impressed. You can see it clearly in the before and after pictures, the car is gorgeous. Everything is lined up beautifully. The paint match is absolutely perfect. Usually there is an expected slight color difference between the bumper and the rest of the metal, but there is literally no difference on my car. And considering that they also polished it, my paint hasn't looked this good since I bought the car. I also included a picture that shows just how much they had to tear it down, because seeing it go from smashed, to torn down, to completely fixed really drives it home. I put a couple of pictures showing how completely smooth/aligned the contour lines on the body are as well. You'd never know it was literally sawed in half. **** TL;DR **** Take your car to them. This place has awesome customer service and does quality work. I purchased a polyurethane front bumper lip that needed to be painted and installed. Was initially referred to a gentleman by the name of Jorge who had previously worked at shop that was only doing insurance work currently. Called him and he was very personable and told me to stop by. Dropped by and he test fitted it and I left it for him to paint that day after getting the best quote and seeing the other reviews. A week later it was ready and looked great and he called me to install. I'm very happy with the work and most of all the customer service. I will be back if I need more work done. read more

On 04/02, My husband and I were involved in an accident in front of their place of business which resulted in our car being unable to be driven. Patricia and Jorge were simply amazing people. They allowed us to not only leave our car there until our insurance company could tow it to the adjusters but they allowed me to just sit in their office to collect my thoughts and gain my bearings. I can't say enough good things about my experience. George and his wife were incredibly helpful, straight to the point, and honest. My Toyota Highlander had a surprising amount of body damage from a blown tire (four panels damaged), and I was pretty nervous about the total cost. They presented me with a couple options (both very affordable), and the end product was amazing. Impossible to tell the car had any issues. AND it looked like it had been through the best car wash after sitting in my driveway for a few months. Just a fantastic experience. This is my best experience at the car's body shop! I was freaking out by the time I scratched my car's front door at a parking lot's wall. I was new to San Diego, so I called the Jeep Dealership at San Diego to recommend me a car body shop. This was how I found George. I drove my car into his body shop in order to let him take a look at the scratch. He said that he might need to paint the front and back door in order to match the color. He offered a very reasonable price to fix my door, and we set up a quote for the following week. George called me a couple of days later, saying that he reconsidered about the scratch and he found it might be fine to just fix the front door without doing anything to the back door, and he would like to lower the price. Two days ago, I brought my car into his body shop again, and we realized that there's another metal scratch by someone... it ruined George's plan at first, but he managed it and again offered the best price I could ever ask for at a car's body shop. A day later, I picked up my car at his body shop, and my car just looked perfect as before. This is why I would like to recommend him for 5 stars! Thank you George! First I must say that I contacted many auto body shops from Miramar Road to Chula Vista as I have a late model MBZ CLK430, that I truly enjoy every moment I get behind the wheel. (I am a huge DTM fan, for those that aren't familiar, simply put, it is a European International touring race car series.) My point is, I enjoy my ride and take particular care of it. I needed to find someone capable of modifying the fiberglass bumper that I finally sourced on the other side of the country. Someone I could trust with my MBZ and someone that would take tremendous pride in their workmanship. Knowing that working with fiberglass is an art form, I needed to find someone with the artistic ability and experience in bodywork for the job. After over 6+ months of locating my aftermarket bumper and searching high and low for the right body shop, I was referred to George at Color Key Auto Body! I contacted George Sr. and brought my car in. George Sr. has nearly 30 years of experience in body shop repairs and has worked in all aspects of the business from initial prepping to painting, and everything in between. He evaluated the repairs and asked that I bring the bumper in so he could get started on the custom fiberglass fabrication and modification that was required. Within a few days, he said he was ready for me to bring my car in. During this initial phase, I met George Jr. George Jr. was also very professional and friendly. I also met George Sr. wife that assists in the office and she was also very welcoming and professional. I enjoy seeing a family run business. In fact, before meeting Color Key, I had taken my car for evaluations/estimates at several shops. I received many quotes and even some shops said they couldn't handle the job. Each time, I was either treated like another number and never felt as though I could trust them with my vehicle to be able to perform the work I needed and with the type of meticulous care that I was looking for. I brought my car in for the repairs and paint work. In a couple days, I received a call from George Jr. He said it was ready for pickup. I went to inspect my car, I was truly amazed. Not that I was expecting anything less, because I did my homework...but seeing is believing. The bumper looked awesome. the fitment needed a little adjustment, but even that was fine tuned. The paint looked great and was an incredible match. Even though it was black, there are many shades of black. They even detailed my car with clay and wax for a minimal fee. My car looked amazing! George Sr. does incredible work. His fiberglass and paint work is on point. He is true to his craft and an artist. Not to mention, he is the owner. If you are in need of any body work or repairs, give this shop a chance to show you what they are capable of. It is a newly opened shop. So it is small, but they do have a professional paint booth and use high quality products. They are just getting started, but don't let that scare you. George Sr. experience shows through. If anything, it is an opportunity to catch them before they grow to the point of having a large staff of employees. There aren't many shops that you are able to speak directly with the owner. My vehicle was hit by a hit and run driver parked in front of my home. The vehicles back end was totally smashed in. I was heart broken. I love my Nissan Cube so much. I knew my vehicle in no way could be repaired. My husband and I drove my car to Color Key Auto Body small little shop the owner took a walk around the vehicle and told us he could repair the vehicle and how much it would be to put it back together like new. Well let me say this I was thinking no way no how but my husband and the owner talked for a bit and my husband said we were going to leave it for the repairs. We were called by the owners wife who is very friendly lady and professional as well as the owner that the vehicle would be ready in about 2 weeks it took about 2 1/2 weeks for the whole process and my car looks fabulous looks better than it was before it was hit.
