Excellent experience! I ordered a bicycle helmet that was on sale, it came on time and was exactly as described. I liked it so much I decided to order another one in a different color. However, I was not sure of the color of the strap (I only like black) so I called. The gentleman that answered the phone did not have answer for me and he did not have the color I was looking for on the sales floor. He went to check the warehouse and put me on hold. Apparently the warehouse is huge and when he finally located the helmet in question I had been forwarded to his voice mail. I was very impressed that he called me right back and also had my answer - AND the helmet in question was not only in my size, but the only one left! I placed an order and emailed the following morning (before it shipped) to ask if I could add a second helmet to combine shipping. I was told by the sales team that the package had already left the warehouse and to place a new order separately. I double-checked the site and the item still showed as unfulfilled. Nonetheless I placed a second order and paid the extra shipping charge. Neither order shipped for three more days (so the first email I received was clearly a lie) - and when they finally did ship, they went out together in one package. So the response I received was inaccurate, and I paid $10 for shipping that wasn't necessary and also worse for the environment. I followed up asking if it was possible to get a refund of one of the shipping charges since there was only one shipment. I received another response from Jared that did not respond at all to my inquiry - it was clear he either didn't read it or "Jared" is a bot that just whiffed on the response. The helmets themselves arrived in good shape and the pricing was competitive. But the customer service response was inaccurate when it mattered and unresponsive when I followed up. This review is for an old order (forgot to leave a review sooner, oops). I purchased a full build kit including wheels & tires for over $2650. When I experienced tread separation on a tire after less than a year, the staff was not very responsive, blamed the issue on me (improper pressure, excessive heat) in the beginning. The tires were ridden less than 500 miles and I sent them pictures to prove my claim. The bike was garaged indoors and tires had never been left outside other than a ride, ever. I check pressure before every ride. After more than 10 follow-up e-mails trying to get them to contact the factory for my warranty, I gave up. $2650+ spent and shoddy service. No thanks. read more

I called this shop looking to place an order for a Dura Ace di2 groupset. I wanted to make sure I was ordering the right di2 wires and wanted some advice on measuring for the correct lengths. This is the second time I've spoken to a grumpy and unhelpful guy on the phone and the last time I'll bother with these people. I told him I'm looking to build up a bike with 9170 and I have some questions. And first he says, "9170? Okay......that's the hydraulic electronic groupset from shimano." Uh, yeah thanks for that info. Then he asks what my questions are. I tell him that I'm looking at their website and I have a question about di2 cable lengths. Please note, the Colorado Cyclist website calls them di2 cables, not wires. Most people call them wires. I figured I'd call them the same thing they call them on the website. He starts in telling me how the disc brake cables are included, and kept talking over me while I tried to stop him to explain that I was talking about the di2 wires. He then explained to me that they are called WIRES, not CABLES like I was some kind of moron. When we finally established that I wanted to talk about electronic wiring, he was not helpful at all. First, he directed me to the page I already told him I was on ("Go to coloradocyclist.com, now click components, now click groupsets, now click shimano, now click...." You get the idea.) and told me to look at the diagram there. There is no diagram, and he admitted this when he actually looked himself. He then just told me, without ever really finding out what my specific questions were, to find information somewhere online and look at pictures because he can't possibly help me without looking at the bike. Or, he suggested, "Maybe have your riding partner do it for you." Yeah...good idea. My lady brain can't handle bike measuring. I bought the $3200 groupset somewhere else, obviously. read more

I just recently discovered Colorado Cyclist due mostly in part to other vendors not having the parts I needed in stock. They had pretty much everything I needed and when items were back-ordered, it stated so under orders within my account profile. They seem to be currently having phone issues (hit and miss if I get through to someone) but get right back to you via email. I had an issue with one item on one of my orders but Kathryn resolved the issue immediately and I will be getting a replacement part shortly. They provide return shipping labels which have been invaluable and saves on return shipping costs for sure. RE: Back-ordered items. I did give them a call (when phone issues arose, I used email) and they recommended that if I wanted an order shipped out right away, that I not include back-ordered items in that shipment. So in my case to save on shipping, the items that were back-ordered and that I didn't need right away, I bunched up in one order and the items in stock, I placed a separate order for those. Recommendation: If you have any questions, give them a call or send them an email. If you can get through to them on the phone, they are courteous and customer focused. If you use email, they get back to you (in my case) the same day and within about 4 hours. The thing to keep in mind is the state of the world here. I M 67 years old and have been ordering wheels and various other bike components since my mid 30's from Colorado Cyclist. I have never had any negative issue with Colorado Cyclist and have always received wheels that were true and evenly tensioned. Their prices aren't always the least expensive, but the quality has always been excellent, so I have continued to patronize Colorado cyclist when I need something big. My most recent road bike, a Time Instinct built up with SRAM Red, was purchased and shipped to my home in Phoenix back in 2010 which I am still riding. I have ordered a replacement wheel set since that time and various other things and will continue to buy from Colorado Cyclist until I quit riding, which will be a while yet. Poor communication and knowledge/management of their own inventory. Placed order with numerous backordered items so I was expecting a delay, but received no updates when items came in stock to where I had to reach out to check on the order. First response was generic we are waiting on backordered parts and will ship when everything arrives. A few weeks later I check again and was told one specific item was still back ordered. Took about 4 days to respond to my next query if that was the only item still missing; I had to call to get a response. Once confirmed that only one item was missing I asked to have that item removed from the order to ship what was in stock. Later that day received an updated invoice and my credit card was charged. A week went by with no word so I finally called and asked. Gave them my purchase order number and they pulled up the previous information stating the removed item was still backordered. They finally found the updated order and said a different item was showing backordered. How in the world do you go from saying everything is in stock to it's backordered?!? I just canceled the order and will never do business with them. Do not recommend unless they can fix their shortcomings. read more

Bad experience with their online store. They basically stalled my order by telling me they couldn't authorize my credit card payment. Called the bank and they said there was no problem, that they should have sent the transaction through. Coloradocyclist.com said that I should contact my bank again (to request the same thing), basically just giving me the run-around. I've never had a transaction go like this, where the seller basically wanted ME to do their billing job for them. I believe they did it to avoid selling me a product at a sale price. I purchased an expensive mountain bike from Colorado Cyclist recently. The bike arrived with the wrong gearing, I called and was advised that all mountain bikes are setup that way. I had specifically asked for a 30 speed. I sent the bike back for correction. I was advised that because I had used it once, they could not work on it and would be returning the bike back to me. Colorado Cyclist need...s to train their employees to disclose the fine print information located in the back of the sales receipt when doing any type of purchase and especially on expensive bikes. Not making the customer aware of the very important details after the purchase has been completed is bad business and leaves the customer with a bad taste about the company. I planned to use the bike on both road and trail, I am left now with a bike that has limited capability at an expensive price. I am extremely unhappy with the way my purchase was handled and I will make sure I will pass this information to all my bike riding friends. read more

I just bought a custom wheel set from Colorado Cyclist. On the positive side, the sales rep was very generous with his time and gave me good guidance on rim selection and some details of the order. The wheels were built within two weeks and arrived undamaged. The price was quite reasonable for the Dura Ace/ HED Belgium Plus spec. On the negative side, the wheels arrived out of true, slightly on rear wheel and moderately on front wheel. It took only about 15 minutes to fix, but, still, CC should have done better. They will take the time to size you and help you figure out what you really need. Are they the cheapest in town? The order shipped in just a few days which I thought was great considering this was a custom build. It came exactly as specified, and if you know anything about wheels, you know this was a carefully handbuilt wheel with true even spoke tension all the way around. The negative reviews here don't sound like they really know about bikes and have unrealistically high expectations, and sound like they should be visiting their local performance bike, Amazon or walmart for their bike needs. The customer service was great also, and ON TOP OF THAT, they included a unexpected gift card with my order so I get a hefty discount on a future order! (as long as it's placed within the next 12months). Pretty damn awesome if you ask me! read more

Joke of a company, Multiple orders totaling more than 2000.00 USD only to be given absolute lowest priority for parts as they prioritize their atrocious in-house builds. Not only that, but their lag time from order placement to actual shipment even with parts on hand is upwards of 3 weeks. That is inexcusable. Even still, I place several orders for them to turn around and push "expected availability" dates back more than a year--I understand, that due to a pandemic we are going to experience logistical supply chain issues. Good source for spokes. Bad for customer service. Ordered a wheel's worth of DT Swiss spokes. Was sent the correct spoke but the wrong color. Colorado Cyclist would not send me the correct spokes without charging me for a second order, even though it was their error in sending me the wrong items. Eventually had to kick it up to a manager, still had to pay for the "second" order of spokes but was able to eventually wrangle a slight discount on expedited shipping, and i have to return the original spokes and possibly pay for the return shipping, before they will refund me. Sounded like the manager had his hands tied about what he could do. What I would have done: Sent the correct spokes, expedited, at no charge. Told customer to either return or keep the wrong order. I gave the benefit of the doubt and decided to give a visit today 6/21/21. google told me they were open for in store shopping and their website made no mention of being online order only. I arrived to a gated door, and when I called to inform them I came down for some handlebar tape, but did not realize they were closed, it seemed like no one cared. They sure didnt want to help me get my bar tape, and they didnt seem to care about the misinformation on google and their website. Would never order from them again. Placed a phone order for over $500 and paid for 2 day shipping. The guaranteed me that it would arrive in time for a birthday present. Called the day before it was supposed to arrive and they said it didn't ship and that the order wasn't placed in time even after I double checked with the person twice taking the order. The most help they could offer was they would cancel the order, but didn't even offer to figure out how to get it there in one day. I would never place another order with them. read more

I ordered a new Shimano Ultegra group from Colorado Cyclist. The website said that the RD-R8000 SS rear derailleur would work with a 30 tooth cassette. I put the derailleur on the bike but it did not work with the 30 tooth cassette and a 52-36 crank. I needed the long cage derailleur to work with the 30 tooth cassette in this setup. The derailleur was never used beyond just checking to see that it didn't work. If the website had not said this RD would work, then I would not have bought it. Colorado cyclist would not take the RD back because I put it on the bike, which was the only way I could determine that it wouldn't work. Keep in mind the website said this RD would work. I spent over $2k on this particular order and they would not take the return on a part that their website said would work for me. Terrible. I will never use them again, and I would recommend that you go elsewhere for your bike parts. There's plenty of places out there with much better customer service. Lesson learned. read more
