They have no comfortable place to sit (skinny…read morebackless stools), for folks to fill out the electronic adoption form which takes a minimum of half an hour. Then, after you as a customer, are kind enough to provide them with all this detailed information -- they state you will hear from them in 48 hours. WE DIDN'T. When they finally sent an email they stated that we would hear something from them within the NEXT 72 hours (business days). WE DIDN'T. I guess they justify their extremely rude treatment by their last sentence which basically says if you hear nothing from them, you can assume you did not get the cats you attempted to adopt! That is inconsiderate and rude! Their response to this review was they "claimed" they DID tell us there were other people ahead of us trying to adopt the same cat. UNTRUE! (Remember- there were two of us and you did NOT communicate this information to either one of us!) But all readers have to do is look at the multiple other reviewers who also said Almost Home has very poor communication. And, the manager's response was to agree they do have and continue to have this rude policy of failing to notify! I still say if people put in half an hour to answer all their multiple questions then surely they can send out a two minute text informing people they did not get the cat. I was even sorrier that the manager did not agree that they are rude and that in the future they will improve by switching over to a more informative process for the kind people who come to them to adopt their kitties. It appears too many of the cats at Almost Home must be adopted out as a pair which probably decreases their chance of adoption. There was a male volunteer there that seemed like he needs an education about what to say to potential adoptees. He wanted to tell us about THE ORGANIZATION from their point of view instead of providing what he should be saying to customers which is that the adoption fees are very high because it includes neuter/spay, shots and microchip. That is what people want to know so it would be nice if you spent five minutes (or less) teaching them this. As a pair of women with great veterinary care history, animals with longevity, an excellent income, our own home (main home in Colorado and vacation home in Texas) and excellent credit history, it makes me believe if they turn us down, then Almost Home has extremely poor judgement! All of our pets have always been provided with excellent vet care including all shots and even dental care. Our last kitty lived to 14 and only passed away due to renal failure. DO NOT GO TO ALMOST HOME thinking you will be able to adopt soon. They drag out the process more than what is reasonable. ALSO, DO NOT EXPECT GOOD COMMUNICATION or you will be disappointed!

And, they are spending their weekends and evenings making sure the animals get spayed, neutered and adopted. Our puppy is a joy, and, as far as the adoption process, they made it as easy as possible. They scanned us and the pup very thoroughly to ensure a good match and gave us time to make sure we both matched. They are saving lives, and we were so happy to find them and add our pup to our family.

Pigeon, a young kitten who was incredibly playful and loved hanging out with people. Both cats were very easygoing and made the experience even more enjoyable. Whether you're a cat lover or just looking for a fun way to spend an hour, this place is definitely worth a visit.

The dental info is not forth coming and could become a large liability since they reserve the right to remove the dog at their discretion for the life of the pet. One more insight, at the end of one of their handout about nutrition, they accuse vets for taking money for food recommendations. This is far from the truth, vets receive a discount from most pet food companies for personal pets, only.

YAY! I get to finally write a review on 4P4L!!…read more We found 4P4L due to a Petfinder search back in 2021. The dog we initially adopted wasn't good with our cats even though he was fine in his foster home with the resident cat. 4P4L understood and we were able to return him. They had asked me to write an updated bio for him so that potential adopters would get a better understanding of his demeanor. He was such a sweet dog but my cats weren't his thing, which wasn't his fault in the slightest. I wrote the bio and he got adopted. I was then asked to volunteer and become a foster, so we started fostering. A 3 day sleepover for a foster pup is how we started and since 2021, we have fostered over 100 dogs and volunteer at adoption events. While it is so tempting to adopt all our fosters, we know we're just helping them adjust to home life. There have been a few that we invoked the 6 month rule: if we have the pup for 6 months, we would adopt him/her because at 6 months, you're a part of our pack. Last month, there was a need to foster these 2 rottie pups because it was time for them to separate from their momma and momma needed a break. Rotties are one of our preferred breeds! Well, we invoked the 6 DAY rule knowing that the pups would be adopted within the week. So that's it! That's how we got our Saoirse! Even if you cannot adopt, please think about volunteering with us or becoming a foster! A little weekend break from the kennel is what all the dogs need and you may just invoke your own 6 day rule!!

We arrived and she comes out to us, UNBATHED, UNGROOMED and she SMELLED awful. She had diarrhea all over her rear end and she was SO terrified, she was shaking and pooped in the girls arms as she was carrying her. It was OBVIOUS that not ONE person had worked with her, bathed her or groomed her since she arrived at this facility! Just put her up on line and waited for someone to adopt her. Clearly NOT in it for the welfare of these animals. Just the money. Never an apology or explanation for this. No follow up phone call to see how she was adjusting. NOTHING. However, sometimes you just have to go…read morewith your gut, and my gut told me getting a dog from My Fairy Dawg Mother was the right decision. This is a long one, so stick with me here.... I happened to be on Facebook one afternoon after having a suddenly clear schedule, and boom! This ADORABLE little face popped up in my feed. I felt like the Grinch, my heart swelling up to three times its normal size. I wanted, no, NEEDED this puppy. I don't know what I was thinking. I had a senior cat, 2 other dogs, was recovering from a severe injury, and was also a full time graduate student in Boulder. Yeah. But that FACE. It spoke to me. After discussing it with my husband, we decided it would be worth making the effort to add to our family. We contacted MFDM, and put in our application. Sadly, the little face we fell in love with went to a family that same day. We were CRUSHED. Lets recap: Thursday - no interest in getting a new dog. Friday - fall in love with dog. Saturday - learn dog is not available. Be sad. Sad sad sad. Sunday morning, we were still sad....and then my phone rang. It was the Fairy Dawg Mother herself!!! She was calling to let me know that the little face I fell in love with was being returned to his foster home, because he wasn't a fit for the family that wanted him originally. My husband and I were OVERJOYED. This wasn't a simple "ok, lets go see him" - we KNEW he was meant to be ours. We drove to the foster's home that afternoon, and welcomed our new handsome boy into our lives. Now - it's easy enough to say that it's a great story to meet the dog we love. But even better, here is what made it worth adopting from MFDM: 1. The focus is on finding the RIGHT home for the dog. When my boy's potential parents decided he wasn't the right fit, MFDM took him back ASAP. 2. Foster care, not shelter care. The dogs brought under the MFDM umbrella are immediately cared for in homes, given training, and integration into a pack. This is good, because that means they don't suffer any more. Many of the dogs are rescued from high stress/high kill shelters. It's a lot of work to go from that environment to a house/family setting. 3. The rescue is small and personalized. No large corporate style structure here, where checkboxes and numbers are the primary motivation. They are all about the dogs. 4. Small, but professional. Each dog is microchipped, vaccinated, and spayed/neutered, and all pet parents are advised about responsible pet ownership. When you adopt from MFDM, you become a part of their family, whether you want to or not! They are here for the dogs, first and foremost. Isn't that the kind of people you want in your, and your pets, corner? I sure do. Give them a call today, and you just might find your new best friend.
