Went to Cleveland to visit family and stopped by Colossal Cupcakes to grab a snack. This location is downtown, so parking is very scarce. I had to park in a loading zone, put on my hazard lights and pray I didn't get a ticket. The place was empty; however, it was 3pm so I'm sure most ppl were going home for the day. There was one person working and she had the music on blast. She told me to let her know when I was ready to order. I took about 2 minutes to view the available options. After telling her a few times that I was ready, she finally come over. I assumed she couldn't hear me because of the loud music. She grabbed the cupcakes and gave me a total. I ordered the Snickerdoodle and Strawberry Cream Cupcakes. I asked for a to-go container and this ignited her attitude. Not sure why. I guess asking for a to-go container so my cupcakes wouldn't fall over in the car was too much. Any who, she placed the cupcakes in the container, rung me up and walked away. I tapped my card and left, hoping that the cupcakes would be better than the service. Once I tasted the cupcakes, I was somewhat pleased. The overall cupcake is large, hence Colossal Cupcakes. The decor is plain, so these are not cupcakes I'd purchase for a party to get that wow factor. The cake itself is pretty good. It was moist, light and not to sweet. The icing is way too sweet. I couldn't eat it all. I doubt I'll return as the service was awful and I spend where I'm appreciated. I give 1 star for the cake portion of the cupcake. Absolutely amazing customer service and an amazing cupcake too!! Wife and I stopped in while walking around because... cupcakes... why not!!!!!! We were greeted the moment we walked in. We waited our turn at the counter, walked up to the display case, and.... Ohhhh the cupcakes....... We settled on two, the cosmic brownie and the chocolate peanut butter. I'm a sucker for anything chocolate and peanut butter!! I looked around and something was missing... beverages, they offered teas but tea just isn't my thing. The cupcakes here are huge and reasonably priced($4 at the of this review) for the size of the cupcake. I wanted so badly to like this place. The decor has you feel like you're stepping into a different world and the atmosphere is positive and upbeat. Unfortunately, the cupcake really falls short in terms of flavor, density, and consistency. I found that it tasted more like a store made cupcake than what I would expect from a speciality shop. Presentation is awful, store front needs work, cupcakes stale and have way too much frosting, customer service is also A huge make over is needed for this - Im surprised they're still open, to be honest. You walk in and theres clutter everywhere, I'm confused of the theme here? There aren't many places to sit either. Display cases where the cupcakes are kept are dirty and you can tell they need to be replaced. Employees are pros at giving stank eye when you walk in, and attitude when you ask about ingredients. I ordered 6 different cupcakes and 3 out of 6 were MISSING THE FILLING inside....... I didn't even bother to call or bring them back in, as I felt it would be a waste of time. We bought 4 cupcakes, a cookie, and a brownie to go. The toasted coconut and cosmic brownie cupcakes and the brownie were fine. We had also purchased what we thought we requested as a carrot cake cupcake and an everything cookie. The carrot cake cupcake was actually banana flavored. Both it and the cookie were underbaked as well. I understand that bigger cookies may be slightly underbaked because of their thickness, but this was not enjoyable at all. I love stopping into this location before or after a trip to Progressive Field. It is the perfect activity to take a short walk through the arcade before the game starts or while waiting for the parking garage to clear out. The associates are friendly and the cupcakes and other items are all amazing. Last time I was there (the morning of 10/8/22) a lovely associate pointed out a deal if you buy 6 cupcakes when we were going to order 4 to take home. I appreciated that and her taking the time to talk to us about some of the flavors. Im also very happy to see the hours getting longer, not quite back to pre-pandemic but getting better!! read more

I appreciate the large number of flavors offered but I'm let down at times by dryness / bland taste. The cupcakes looks truly beautiful and the shop is utterly cute. If you stop in, get the cake shake (cupcake blended into a milkshake) because it's worth it. If you get just a cupcake, be sure the get a glass of milk.
