First time trying this place while here on business. Had the brew house chips for the appetizer - they were good. Since we were at a brew pub I thought I would try the fish and chips for dinner. I was not impressed. Fish was luke warm and not really flavorful, the cole slaw was bitter and the fries were cold and unseasoned. The beer was good, but $6 for 16 ounces seems a bit over priced. When I come back to town for business I will not be coming back here. read more

Horrible. The food was way overfried, almost burned, put into a plastic bag that looked like it had been used dozens of times, and the driver didn't notify me of delivery so the awful food was cold. Disgusting start to finish. CB used to be great. Sad. read more

Great local spot! The staff is amazing and they have a good selection of beer. Cheese balls are by far my favorite.

The CB is a Columbus standby. They brew some amazing beers and have selections on tap that will blow your brain to pieces. The food is above par and some items, like the ahi tuna steak sandwich, are incredible bargains. Maybe ask for the wasabi on the side, however. The only negative quality is the cost. A bit pricier than most of the other local bars, but if you hit it on a cheap pint night or such, you'll be in heaven. Definitely check it out if you are passing through town. read more

This is a really cool pub with a nice old school flavor. Our waiter was friendly and patient in answering all my questions about the various items on the menu and made excellent suggestions. They have these sauerkraut balls thingamabobs which are fantastic. I was a little miffed about the fried eggplant appetizer we ordered. It tasted great but for the price we should have gotten more. I don't know much about beer so can't really say much about their range of selections except that they did have Chimay so I assume it's pretty decent. They do have quite a selection on their food menu of not so typical dishes along with traditional fare which was nice. I highly recommend checking this place out. It's a laid-back little spot for a reasonable price. If I lived in Columbus I'd be a regular. read more

First bar I've ever been to where a drinking customer asks for help getting a cab and the waitress doesn't want to help. Seems dangerous. It was consistent with the way we were treated when ordering too. We got a waitress with short green hair and rings in her lips. She didn't give her name, but the receipt listed her as "rockstar"? She was disinterested in the beer menu and mildly annoyed if we asked questions about anything they served. Shame. When first walking into the place we weren't sure if we were in the right place. It turned out to be a great place for a cozy dinner though, which happened to be accompanied by some live musik. This self-proclaimed "nano brewery" is in the heart of a tiny downtown in a tiny pit-stop of a town along I-65 between Indianapolis and Louisville. They have only a 5 barrel brewing system, which can be seen in the front window standing behind a velvet rope. The bar is small, there are only a few tables, and old, small, square TV's adorn the top of the bar for patrons to watch. The adjacent building provides more seating in a family friendly environment. And on some evenings, live music is performed from a balcony overlooking the small restaurant. Nice! The Columbus Bar serves pub grub. They know it, and they're damn good at it. Their classic "Hoosier" fried pork tenderloin sandwich has been written about in the New York Times twice, and for good reason. The hand breaded and fried gigantic piece of pork (twice as big as the bun it comes on) is flavorful and fried to perfection. (Actually, the 2nd time I had it, it didn't seem as big. It's either rising food costs or a bigger bun.) The fried mushroom caps have breading that doubles the size of the caps, and is obviously hand breaded and fried. I would prefer a little less breading myself, but it was still good, and I appreciate the effort. Finally, a homemade praline cheesecake competes on the menu with a Cheesecake Factory plain, and please, please go for the homemade option every time! It was amazingly delicious. I wish I had room for another piece. They only have a couple of their own brews on tap at one time, and only one when I went. That being said, their Diesel Oil Stout is very rich, thick and flavorful. I enjoyed it very much. My second visit they had their Nut Brown, and it was average. Their menu describes it as, "A full bodied well-balanced mahogany colored brew with a good hop character, nutty flavor and off-white head. It is a mid-pallet beer that is easily digestible and pairs well with most foods." And that describes it perfectly. There is a fairly heavy mouth feel, mild to moderate hop bitterness, one note of nutty flavor, and nothing else clouding up the palette picture. It's a very simple bear, it's adequate, but I've had much better. Their beer list is still magnificent. This is more of a great beer bar in a historic location than a good brewpub stop. They are the first to carry Indianapolis' Brugge Brassiere's beer. They also carry Fuller's, Bell's, Black Hook, Stone, and Brooklyn, to name a few. Not bad for a small bar. read more

Friday is always a great time to hit a new tavern with the family. This place has a bar side for adults and a family side for eating. We went for the powerhouse brewery beer but for some reason the brewery wasn't working. Columbus Bar has a great beer menu and great selection of food. Had excellent tortilla chips and beer cheese for an appetizer. We wanted to sit for a beer or two before ordering food but there were only so many tables for eating on the family side and the waitress asked us if we wanted to order every 3 minutes so we ordered. M wife had the buffalo chicken wrap. Excellent choice but wow it's spicy. Had a bit and it was delicious. Fries were great. I had the favorite tenderloin sandwich. The tenderloin itself was fantastic. However, it came with a cold bun. Won't go with that again. Will definitely go back. Fun atmosphere and family friendly. Very nice lil bar. The seating could use some updating, but the food and service were excellent! In my group we ordered the ahi tacos, veggie burger, and the ceasar wrap. All of us enjoyed our meals. The only bar in town for a beer connoissuer! Always a fabulous beer menu and their in house brews are usually top notch. I'm a hoppy beer fan and the Two Dave's IPA is very, very good. I have a mug with my name on it. I don't get in to use it as often as I'd like, but when I do, most of the bartenders remember me and treat me as if I come in everyday. The only bar in town that is No-Smoking; love that! The only issue I have is the food could improve, but I'm really not going in for the food. read more

After my friend and I attended the Yelp Elite event at the Inn at Irwin Gardens, we popped in the Columbus Bar for a night cap and a snack. Decent atmosphere, but some music would be nice. Buffalo Balls were delish with a kick. Service was prompt but not so friendly. Clearly this is a locals only type place, but we weren't terribly uncomfortable. If I'm ever passing though Columbus again, I'll certainly stop by. read more

Cool place. Stopped by during an overnight stop on a road trip. Unassuming "Cafe Liquors Bar" sign. Half local shot-and-a-beer bar with after-work Friday crowd throwing down Bud Lights, half indie-microbrew bar with great local draft selection. Had a good burger and learned about the "engraved mug" club and regulars so regular they can call ahead and get a bar seat reserved for them. Good number of small TVs in the bar area and nice horseshoe-shaped bar. Overall, cool vibe and good food with good prices. Would definitely come again. read more

Love it here! Tenderloin Sandwiches are the best! Huge selection of beers. Workers are eccentric but friendly! A lot of the workers hang out there on their off time,which is a little off putting because the employees that ARE working keep going over & sitting & talking to them. Food is good and waiter was very friendly. However, the atmosphere just flat out sucks and is the pits. This could be a very cool place if they would actually put some money in the place. I can't stand sitting in this bar or eating area. Just feels very unwelcoming. They brew their own beer which is OK at best. They sponsored a Beer bicycle ride in Columbus in which they gave out a free beer at the end. The place gave out a free Bud Light draft in a plastic cup! We paid good money for this ride and a microbrew didn't even hand out their own beer! What a complete joke! So many great times at Columbus Bar - our first date was even there. We had a request for a reservation for 20 people on a Friday night for our wedding rehearsal and even mentioned that our first date was at CB and that's why we wanted our rehearsal dinner there - they unfortunately acted like they couldn't care less and that it would be "$1500 to reserve that room for the night" - I just wanted a reservation! So disappointing that we haven't gone back even once since that experience....8 months ago. Sad part is the atmosphere is chill, great beer selection and diverse menu. Went down to The Garage for the rehearsal dinner instead - free room for the evening and great service. Place was a dump, bathroom disgusting, tarter sauce all over floor, hamburger and tenderloin not even as big as our bun and when our hamburger came burnt and black on the outside the waitress tried to tell us that's what "well done" means !!!! As a Columbus native, this is probably my favorite bar in town. There aren't a lot of great bars in Columbus but this one has a relaxed atmosphere, a fairly exhaustive list of beers on tap and it's smoke-free, which is still a rarity in this town. The food is good, too. This place had gotten a little run down in past year until purchased by the current owners. They've really done a great job of cleaning it up and making it a great place to go again. read more

The 'CB' as the locals call it is one of those places you really want to like but sometimes they make it tough. It has to be the most inconsistent place in Columbus. I've had wonderful food here and also some of the worst food I've ever eaten. It's a dive bar and you really never know what to expect. The last time we went in the food was absolutely awful, the music playing had the 'F' word constantly and the drinks were watered down. If you live in Columbus consider giving it a try but if you are from out of town consider someplace else to get a taste of Columbus. read more

It's okay, but could be better. Maintenance would go a long way - the seats in some of the booths are seriously uncomfortable... the padding gave up the ghost a decade ago. The tables and chairs in the dining area also give the impression of being about a decade past their prime. They do best with fried dishes - the tenderloin is good, as is the fried cheese. Nothing is mind-blowingly good, but it's all decent. Some dishes come with chips instead of fries, which is kind of annoying. The beer is pretty good - Jack the Bum and Diesel Oil Stout are standouts, but nothing they brew is bad. read more
