I went to Ferry Fest today and my friend and I decided to get an early dinner before the last band started. The long line was expected but it went fairly quickly. The woman at the counter was really friendly. I used to work retail and dealing with customers, even at the start of the shift, can wear you down pretty quick. So I gotta give props to her for being positive during this very busy day. I got the crispy hot honey chicken tacos, which is one of this month's specials. It came with delicious sweet corn, cabbage slaw, chipotle mayo, and a cilantro-lime crema. It's basically the flavors of elote with fried chicken and it yummy! The breading on the chicken was even and crisp. And I enjoyed the spicy-sweet flavor of the honey, which complemented the chipotle mayo. I also enjoyed the crunch from the cabbage and the softness of the flour tortilla. I paired with it the fried Brussels sprouts to get another veggie into my meal. Though I do love very charred sprouts, there was a hint of bitterness. I may have needed more lime to cut that. The jalapeño mayo was good. But I think tossing it in pork fat is the way to go with Brussels sprouts to really pump up the flavor. I'm not sure what oil they fry it in. I think I'll stick to their sweet potato fries, which never disappoints. It's always busy there, but it's never too difficult to find a place to sit. It's shared seating, with long tables inside and large tables outside. But my friend and I took it to go so we can have dinner with the show. And the timing was perfect - we didn't wait too long to get our order and we arrived about 20mins before the band started. The quality of Gott's has been consistent over the years across their locations. So it's a tried and true place to get a delicious meal. read more

We went for the Ferry Building festival. We had to wait in the line because there were so many people. It was definitely worth the wait. The staff were friendly and helpful. They kept the line moving. I had the Gruyère with sautéed onions. I think it was one of the best burgers I've ever had. It was very cheesy and the onions were perfect. My friend had the chop salad. She said it was very good. My other friend had the chicken tacos they looked delicious and she said that it was. . We sat inside because it was quite warm outside. They had 3 or so workers but the setup didn't look conducive to getting through orders quickly, with essentially one person just stationed at the iPad to charge customers. Would have been a higher rating if service was a bit faster & better but still a decent spot I'd revisit. The shop is in the iconic Ferry Building so lots to eat & shop around the area. One of the things we really liked about this place was the nice bar next to it. They had a good selection of wines by the glass, including Rombauer Chardonnay, and the pricing was actually very reasonable. The burger was very full and generously packed with ingredients. The chicken nuggets portion was surprisingly large, and the fries were also very tasty. It was also one of those rare beautiful sunny San Francisco afternoons. Usually whenever we visit the city, the weather is cloudy, so being able to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine made the experience even better. The only small negative thing I would mention is that the wait time felt a bit long even though it did not seem overwhelmingly crowded. I ate here again for the first time in a couple years and was a much bigger fan this time around. I got the monthly special chicken Parmesan sandwich and it was great! The sandwich was massive and kinda hard to eat, but overall it met all my expectations. I do think their fries and some of the other items are a bit bland, but the sandwich was a standout to me. I will also say the soft serve deserves a review of its own - this is some of the best soft serve I've ever had and I truly get it almost any time I go to the ferry building. Food is an excellent value for the area. $35 for my husband and I to get burgers and a fry. (I got a double cheese burger and he got a hamburger). Bun was an excellent brioche with tons of cheese. I loved the pickles and sauce. I'd prefer a medium rare but understand medium is the go-to in a fast food setting. This IS fast food but elevated by the quality. Easy outdoor seating with a water station perfect for the walking we do along the Piers. Four stars because the patio is open and on the sidewalk so it's got an odor that isn't pleasant. Huge piece of fried chicken breast. Beautiful and colorful, but lacked flavor. Although the generous amount of Arugula was a plus, it overpowered the burger. I ended up eating that first to get my veggies in. The pickled turnips/radish added nothing but color. Halfway through, the burger felt dry and flavorless. Phenomenal Organic Soft Serve at the Ferry Building! We stopped by Gott's Soft Serve at the SF Ferry Building location and were absolutely blown away. I got the Valley Ford Salted Caramel ice cream in a cup, and it is hands down one of the best I have ever had. On a recent trip to San Francisco,after a beautiful ride on the Vallejo Ferry I found myself a little hungry so I decided to stop by Gott's Roadside for a quick lunch. This is the kind of place where u walk up to the counter and order off of a menu on the wall-Today after looking over the really good menu,I went with the Green Chile Cheeseburger ($10.99) & Garlic Fries ($3.99). The cheeseburger was very good-super tasty-solid value-pretty spicy-it had Anaheim Chile,jack cheese,jalapeño mayo-I liked it quite a bit-I would order it again for sure.The Garlic fries were well made,they were doused in some serious garlic butter-very tasty. This place features a pretty extensive beer and wine menu,though we didn't get to indulge on that part of the menu on this trip-good to know they had solid options available.I also noticed that they offered a pretty good shake and soft serve menu-which I also didn't partake in,but I'm sure I would've enjoyed it. Nothing better than grabbing a chicken tenders kids meal from this place. It was one of the first places I tried when I moved to SF and it has always been a great place to fall back on. It is conveniently located in the Ferry Building, so you can eat with a good view or maybe enjoy a sweet treat later. The price, for the kids meal, is SO worth the quantity of food I get. Although I'm not a hamburger person, Gott's really impressed me with their Gruyere & Caramelized Onion Burger. Not only was the patty cooked medium rare without telling them, but the hamburger did not fall apart while I was eating it. THE BIG: This Gott's location is inside the Ferry building of San Francisco. No seating as it's mainly order to go type fare. Limited parking, rideshare is the best way to get here. THE BLACK AND WHITE: The wife and I came to the Ferry building to do all the tourist things and saw straus vanilla ice cream being sold. I bought a gallon of the straus milk earlier that day and loved the taste. Fortunately there wasn't a big of a line and we got a cone of the vanilla ice cream. Super creamy and decadent. They're very generous with the peanut butter chips throughout the cookie and they have a deep, natural flavor. They almost taste like they were homemade with real peanuts and minimal added sugar, which is way better than those artificial and super sweet peanut butter chips you can find in some other desserts. Gott's cookies are quite well done. 4) TURKEY CALIFORNIA BURGER (3/5) Overall was good and I appreciated the turkey burger option if you want to feel ~healthy~ eating a burger and desserts. That being said, I think the sandwich overall lacked moisture given the patty was dry and the buns didn't help. Maybe more sauce, or a runnier egg, or a slice of tomato could have helped. 5) REGULAR FRIES (2/5) I can't recommend these. Very dry and not that crispy, though we did get this delivered so I assume these taste better fresh. However, Gott's has plenty of other fantastic sides so it's no problem if the regular fries aren't perfect! ------ ENVIRONMENT We got our order delivered but I've been to the physical location in the Ferry Building countless times. They have a huge space with both indoor and outdoor seating areas. Sometimes there's a line but it moves quickly, you get a buzzer for your order, and you can take a seat somewhere while you wait for your food to be ready. I'm pretty picky with burgers because I don't eat them often, and Gott's hit the mark! The California burger is one of my ideal burgers and tasted balanced with the fried egg, salty bacon, bitter arugula, and tart yet sweet balsamic onions. I enjoyed the gruyere and caramelized onion burger, but I wish it had other vegetables or toppings to cut through the richness. I was impressed by how the buns were so soft and fluffy but didn't get smushed. I'm happy that the burger was pretty easy to eat and stayed in tact after each bite. While the burgers were great, the sides we got were okay. I came back to Gott's to eat their actual food. You order at the cashier and receive a pager that will alert you when your food is ready. There are lots of tables inside, although most of them are high tops. So if you have young kids, your better option will be the big benches outside. Luckily it was a nice day so we chose to sit outside and people watch. There are self serve condiments and water available. Our food order took about 15 minutes to come out. Our family got an order of the gruyere and caramelized onion burger, a kimchi burger on lettuce wrap, a kids cheeseburger, and a kids mini corn dogs (comes with 6). The kids meal come with fries and your choice of lemonade, water, or fountain drink. In general, the food was well cooked and everyone was a fan of the taste and texture. I, however, was pretty disappointed with my kimchi burger. I thought the gochujang sauce made things overly salty and there was too much of the sauce in relation to the rest of the burger. Gochujang sauce can be a pretty bold flavor so the ratio of it should be less. And because I chose to get a lettuce wrap for my burger, there was nothing to soak up the sauce so it ended being a giant mess to eat and got everywhere. read more

For fast food, I think this is as good as it gets. The tuna tacos were super delicious and fresh, and bright in flavor. The burgers here are also always juicy and flavorful. I got the California burger this time. The garlic fries are also well balanced and not too garlicky. I always come here when near the ferry building if I don't have food plans. read more
