This service and the other New Haven towing services are lousy, as they will not help you move your vehicle for towing, if it seems inconvenient, even when you offer them your own and additional physical help. Myself, my partner and the tow truck driver, could have moved my vehicle into the tow truck's position, but the tow truck driver refuse to do it. My Van has been sitting in my parking lot for over two months now and I am left without personal transportation. I have seen on TV how Cargo Trucks are being removed and, towed out of inconvenient places, so why is it that these tow truck drivers can not lend a hand in doing their jobs. My recommendations though are when you call your insurance company when asking for roadside assistance, tell them not to send the driver from this company. He is not helpful in any way whatsoever. - Steering column locked. - Couldn't get it to budge, and the key wouldn't turn in the ignition lock. - Called one tow company who put me on hold twice and then wanted to charge me $86. - Called Columbus Towing in New Haven (203-777-7753). - The dispatcher told me to spray WD-40 in the lock and then tap the key in with a hammer. - If that didn't work, he'd tow for $75. - It worked. - I'll never call another towing company while I'm in this city. read more

My car got towed for street sweeping and I found after I picked it up that there was damage underneath the car that I had never seen before. I took it to Columbus Towing to inquire. They addressed the issue and more. We found that although the damage had been triggered by the tow, it really would not have ever happened had there not been prior damage. They were incredibly polite, the supervisor, manager and staff - very professional, also I have to say a word about the receptionist in the auto body shop side. She is just great! I think she's been there for some 30 years and was vibrant with a big smile and attentive. This tow company has the worst customer service ever. We called roadside assistance who dispatched this company to us for what we thought was a battery jump and ended uo being a tow call. The driver came and stated he was here for juat the jumped. We proceeded to ask him what would be the cost of the tow since he already charged us for the jump which he did not provide that service or even got out the truck. His response was that he already charged the card for him coming out so he was paid. He called somebody on the phone and when we thought he was backing up to assist us he actually was turning around and just drove off. Mind you that we were stranded on the side of a dark street thats very busy with cars racing down all 4 lanes. read more

I own a 2012 Chevy Volt. The GM Roadside Assistance hooked me up with Columbus Towing as my battery was dead. Since my Volt was not able to go into neutral it is important that I have it towed by a flatbed tow truck. What arrived was a regular tow truck. When I questioned the man driving the truck he got irrate and shouted with the worst profanities that I have heard. Overall, the worst customer experience of my life. I notified GM Roadside Assistance. Had I let this angry man tow my vehicle it would have damaged the car. GM would be wise not to contract with them in the future.To be honest, they don't even deserve one star--it was that bad. read more

I had my car towed here and had the absolute worst customer experience ever. The guy at the desk was so rude and I just couldn't believe he thought what he was saying was appropriate to me. He even threatened to not release my car, despite the fact that I had paid for it! At one point, I just had to ask him if he enjoyed antagonizing people who were clearly already upset at their situation. Furthermore, when I left the lot, I noticed that he handed me some other car's service order/ticket in addition to my own, which included some personal information! I called them to let them know I had it so they would have to write another order and they were clueless and hung up almost immediately. You may not get a choice where your car gets towed in New Haven, but heaven help you if it's to this place. read more

My truck stalled and dies. Called my insurance company road side assistance for a tow, they contacted Johns Auto, Berlin CT, I received a text that Johns Auto was in route, 60 minutes later I call Johns for a status, dispatcher said "no we never sent anyone and wont be, said to call back my insurance company" I called back my insurance company, so then they contacted RJ Shore Automotive LLC of CT and they said they would tow me. I receive a text that they were in route, 45 minutes later still waiting I call RJ and they say "no, not going to you, you are out of our service area" I call my insurance company back again (keep in mind I have no heat, its 36 degrees, its night time in CT and over 2 hours has gone by) My insurance company contacts Columbus Towing. Columbus contacts me about 10 minutes later, driver states he will be there in about 10 minutes. He arrives 10 minutes later, tows my vehicle, after towing to my house he (Noel) runs a diagnostic check for me and tells my why my engine stalled. Thank you Columbus and especially Noel for doing what you say you are going to do and then to go out of your way like that was awesome. Columbus all the way. read more

Daughter got her repair done here. I was wowed by the service and quality of work. I am 50 years old and have never seen such amazing customer service and body work. They even sent her home with a paint touch up kit and cleaned the car inside and out. Use them! read more
