Newly open Vietnamese broken rice near us, awesome. At the moment, they serve everything in "to go" boxes but not sure if that's forever. I should've asked. Got 3 orders and took it home with us, and portion is not bad. Although, I have been to other authentic Vietnamese Com Tam in San Jose which doesn't compare. I see this place as a fast food com tam which I like when I'm craving it since it's so close to us. Place isn't huge but has enough space for eating there. Food isn't bad as well, again it being a fast food com tam. Prices are reasonable too. The menu isn't extensive so it's easy to decide what to get. Parking isn't a problem too! I mean if there's no parking, which I think will never happened, you can park at the Costco parking lot. But yeah, welcome to the neighborhood and glad you're here.

Came by Com Tam Bros around 2:30pm on Saturday and the place was full, which was a good sign. We originally sat outside but moved inside once a table opened up. We ordered the Big Bro Short Rib Plate, Beef Pho, Lychee Lemonade, and Thai Tea. I had wanted the dragon fruit lemonade, but they were sold out, and they were also sold out of the Viet coffee, which made me kinda sad. The short rib tasted good, but for the price, I don't think the value was quite there. I had eaten right before, and I think that if I hadn't done that, I wouldn't have been full. The egg cake was a bit on the bland side, and they forgot the fried egg. There's a four dollar up charge for the short rib, which is standard. If I were to come back, I would order the pork skewers because the value would be better. I really enjoyed the Lychee Lemonade, though I felt like they could have used less ice. My wife loved the Thai tea. Overall, the food tasted good. The owner (or someone on staff) came by and gave us a free Vietnamese dessert, a coconut jelly type of thing in a cup. For free, it was not bad. We also got 10% off because they just opened. Overall it's a new restaurant, so they're still learning and figuring things out. But I would definitely recommend this place.

Com Tam Bros is a hair shy of Com Tam Thien Huong down in San Jose and Milpitas. For my Vietnamese people iykyk and for those who don't, this is a high praise. With that said I think with proper feedback Com Tam Bros can reach their full potential. Their team seems young, enthusiastic and absolutely eager to succeed. So let's start with the praises and work our way to the feedback. For those new to com tam, it's referred to as broken rice in english. The name refers to the broken rice grains that come with this particular dish and requires special grains/process to make. When eating Vietnamese rice dishes you want to see if the rice is truly broken and not using normal jasmine rice. I can confirm that this place's broken rice was made perfectly moist with enough room for fish sauce. As for the meats they definitely don't skimp out. You get three skewers for the thit xien nuong and my family's pork chops were all super hefty. They came home and immediately smelt the food which meant it was cooked/smoked correctly. All great signs. Now let's go through some of the feedback. I feel like a lot of folks who tried this place on grand opening were overly critical. Since they were new I expected some small hiccups and therefore my rating reflects those hiccups. 1. They forgot the Bi, in the Big Bro plate (4 mon). It would had been perfect if it was executed properly. 2. Their online ordering system may had gone down the same day or bugging out, but it didn't let me order ahead so I just went in person instead. It didn't look as busy so I was wondering what happened. Definitely look into this. 3. The meats were ever so slightly salty. A pinch less of salt and you guys would've nailed it perfectly. This is a very easy fix. 4. I would recommend a spicy nuoc mam or fish sauce. The one you have now is a bit on the blander side and doesn't add much to the dish. I know this too is an easy fix. But besides these very minor things in my opinion, Com Tam Bros have the DNA of a great broken rice restaurant. Their flavors are near perfect, their operations is only going to improve, and I believe they will only get better with time. So overall give this spot a try if you're a Vietnamese food fan and they have other dishes like pho here as well. Im looking forward to being a regular and hoping to update my review.

I love me a delicious strong Vietnamese coffee & when I saw this new spot opened up in hayward, I immediately looked at their menu to see if they offer the classic Vietnamese coffee and yes they do! This Vietnamese coffee was the perfect blend of caffeine & condensed milk, not too sweet either preserving the flavor of the coffee. we don't live close by but was in the area for errands, so now I can't wait to return for some of their other menu items like the pho or appetizers and even grilled menu items too. It's located in the plaza adjacent to Costco, with plenty of parking in the lot. The inside was in pristine condition very clean, organized & a good amount of seating for a cozy spot. We used the self service kiosk but they also take orders at the front. The staff was friendly and greeted us when we stopped in. If you're looking for a new Vietnamese restaurant in the east Bay Area to checkout, stop by com Tâm Bros for lunch dinner or even a quick coffee to go.

Happy to see more com tam spots opening nearby. This is a fast casual restaurant so not a lot of seats inside. Com tam was flavorful but Pork chops were a little thin for the price. The cha was good but mostly egg with a little pork, and the chao tom was good too. Pho flavor was ok, too fatty for my taste but noodles were overcooked and mushy. They have sate, so im hoping for bbh on the menu sometime in the future? Overall good for a fast casual viet spot if you want something quick but they needa work out the ordering system. Seemed to have some confusion w other tables orders when I went.

Excited to finally see this open. We've been seeing it when we go to Costco. I ordered via toast tab cuz we had to go pick up our son. Soft opening so things weren't working quite as we thought. Pickup time was 2:21 and our food was ready at 2:40 a little longer than anticipated but what was disappointing and the dock stars was we ordered a child pho for my son and when we got home there was no brisket or anything in it. These plain noodles was not worth $11.99. For $3 more I should've just got the adult portion. The big brother rice plate with chicken was fine. I actually didn't use the fish sauce cuz it was flavorful enough. My husband enjoyed the porkchop rice place. The egg rolls are made with chicken instead of pork which is different but still tasty. The plates are a bit more pricey than some of the other Vietnamese places around. Extra stars the workers were really nice just disappointed we paid $12 for a small helping of noodles and broth. We also got the lychee lemonade and it tastes like the lychee syrup from the can and the passion fruit lemonade (this one was more Refreshing).

Com Tam Bros just opened near our place, and I was excited to give it a try! We visited on their very first day during the soft opening. We ordered the pork skewer plate and a passion fruit lemonade. The drink was refreshing and perfectly balanced, while the pork skewers were juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. The restaurant itself was clean, organized, and welcoming. Since it was opening day, the team is still settling into the flow of service, which is completely understandable. Even so, the staff was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. Overall, it was a great first experience, and I'm looking forward to coming back to explore more of the menu. Wishing the team continued success as they get settled into the neighborhood!

Vermicelli chicken bowl with Vietnamese iced coffee

I was very excited for their soft opening (official opening June 6th!) and wanted to try their food. Online you can preorder their food on their website as well as see the menu. I ordered the vermicelli bowl with chicken, crispy egg rolls, as well as a Vietnamese iced coffee. I'm picky about Vietnamese coffee so I was hesitant. I'm so glad that it went above and beyond my expectations. The cashier Victoria was really sweet and helpful with ordering through the kiosk. The food is brought right to your table and it was hot and fresh. The egg rolls were super delicious. They came with a side of a type of vinegar dip as well as pickled veggies. The bowl was absolutely delicious. Their special sauce made all the difference! And as for the Vietnamese iced coffee? Absolutely amazing. 10/10 across the board. I would love to return time and time again to try their other dishes. I'll be back for their pho for sure!

I came by on grand opening day and ordered the Big Bro Plate ($19.99) The portion is huge, but that's about it. One of the advertised item is fried egg but there was no fried egg in my order. Let's start with the food. The pork chop is dryyyy! Instead of giving me 3 small dry chops, how about giving me one big juicy chop? The eggcake and pork skin are mid. The fish sauce is mid The fried egg would probably be mid too...if I ever got one. Let's talk service. Grand opening day can be hectic, I get it. But serving com tam in a box though? I thought I was at Nick The Greek... I went home and plated it. The point of sale was amazingly frictionless. The front house staffs and owner were hella chill. The kitchen...not so much. I counted about 12-15 people in there. A lot of actions, not a whole lot of results. A plate of com tam is assembled from items that are ready to go. There should be no reason why it took 40min to 1hr to have my order ready. Suggestion: 1. A good com tam only needs two things: a well marinated juicy pork chop and carefully crafted fish sauce. Everything else will fall in place if you get the above two right. Don't reinvent the wheel. 2. Please improve your kitchen efficiency, especially if guests can see inside of it. I really hope you guys succeed because I'm tired of driving to SJ for Com Tam Thien Huong. Will update my review at the next visit. Congratulations, and good luck!

I have been excited for this place to open and it's right now their soft opening! (Their official grand opening is June 6.) This is located in an outside strip of other restaurants/businesses and has lots of parking. When you enter, it's very spacious and clean. You can order either on 2 iPads or at the cash register. We looked at the menu and got the big bro plate with Korean short rib which came with rice, egg cake, and pork skin. We also ordered the pho ga (chicken pho) and got the crispy egg rolls and shrimp avocado spring rolls to share. While we were waiting, I met Victoria who was so kind and helpful. Shout out to Victoria! The portions were fair and the food was tasty. I loved the taste of the short rib; the marinade was so good and it was crispy on the edges yet tender. The shrimp avocado spring rolls were really good portion and they were also filled with lots of stuffing which was great! I loved how they gave good size sauce too because sometimes restaurants don't give enough dipping sauce. The fried egg rolls were also yummy and they gave fish sauce to dip. I had a great experience and will definitely be back!

The 2 combo plates in question that was missing the grilled shrimp AND the egg roll

I was very excited for this place and waited patiently for it to open. But sadly, this didn't leave a good impression. When other reviews say they were missing products in their dish, they weren't wrong. I ordered 2 Vermicelli combo plates, but they turned out to be 2 regular Vermicelli plates. Missing the grilled shrimp and the egg rolls. Tried to call them back when I got home and opened the box, but the phone call didn't even go through. Maybe my order was large and they got confused, but if it was a single incident, that's understandable. But reading other reviews, and seeing its not the first time, I'm not sure they are really doing their quality control before pushing the to go boxes out to the customers. They have 2 kiosks that doesn't work, everyone has to line up to order with the cashier. Honestly, the best thing was the drinks. The food was just average.

We started with the One Piece Mixed Salad (tofu skin, vermicelli noodles, woodear mushrooms, carrots, celery, seaweed, and peanuts, all mixed in a savory, acidic, and spicy dressed ) and the Shredded Potato Salad, both of which made for nice appetizers. We also had the Cold Skin Noodles (Liangpi), a bowl of wide, chewy noodles mixed with a savory sauce and topped with tofu puffs, shredded cucumber , bean sprouts, and a creamy sesame sauce. Hailing from Xi'an, the Braised Pork Pita Burger was fatty pieces of pork braised in a savory sauce, served in a dry round of "pita," but even better was the Spicy Cumin Lamb Pita Burger, which contained a tantalizingly spicy, flavorful filling of tender spiced lamb. The Signature Beef Bone Noodle Soup came with noodles in a simple broth, topped with three bone-in beef ribs. The meat on the ribs was rather tough and sinewy, and the soup on the bland side, but the presentation of the dish was definitely impressive. Finally, the House Special Braised Dry Noodle was a bowl of noodles topped with a savory sauce with lots of different dried ingredients including tofu, s mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, and red bell peppers. For each noodle dish, you could select from a variety of noodles, but my favorite by far was the 2cm "General Wide" noodles, which had an amazing chewy texture. Overall, this was a great restaurant for authentic Northern Chinese noodle dishes and other eats. Everything came out from the kitchen in just minutes after we ordered. The tasty dishes came at a good value, and the service was super friendly too!

There seems to have some menu change since the last time we came. We ordered 2 dry noodles and a cold spicy pig ears appetizer. The pig ears were piled up with no fillers - something hard to find these days. You can select the type of noodles so I picked the widest while my husband picked the middle one. I love the el dente texture of the noodles giving it a bit of chew. My braised pork belly dry noodles was not dry... very watery which was not to my liking. I want my dry noodles with as little gravy as possible. The flavor was light despite all the gravy, but the veggies and one egg made it up. The house special dry noodles had just the right amount of gravy for taste but not enough ingredients. I was wondering why the restaurant is called One Piece... I guess the entire bowl of noodles is one piece noodle as it was hard to eat as all the noodles are tangled. No complaints here just need to be careful with the splashes on your shirt. Overall the food was good, service was decent as we were offered actual menu instead of only using QR code to order. The place was not small with plenty of table. A bit noise as with all Chinese restaurants.

Quality/Quantity - My daughter craved Pho so we came to this place. It has been a VERY long time since we ate here. Actually, the previous time was with the previous owners/business. Today we got the following: Fish Ball Noodle Soup with Pho Noodles - Of course my daughter's choice and with NO veggies?!?! This looked so plain... I know I could have made this better at home! My wife shared some of her wontons with my daughter to add to the flavor. See pictures. I am sure this is NOT what my daughter had in mind when she craved Pho. This was much more of a "Chinese" dish rather than Vietnamese. Update - My daughter mentioned that she could not find regular thinly sliced beef pho as an option. And she thought fish balls were beef balls... Wonton Noodle Soup - Also as plain as my daughter's dish. Again, more of a Chinese dish rather than Vietnamese. #24 Fried Pork Chop, Chicken, Egg with Steamed Rice - Fried fresh and perfectly done! My pork chop and chicken were 5 stars! The hardest worker was the runner, probably the only employee that was not family...? Price - $66 + more generous tip than deserved or earned. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success at this location since 2024. And your previous location in Oakland, etc. The previous location was known for their chicken, chicken noodle soup, etc.

As my son and I were looking through the menu, a very nice man with a big smile greeted us and took our order. My son ordered the Beef and Chicken combo, I ordered the Chicken combo, we also ordered the 49er Roll as per his suggestion, since my wife likes lemon and salmon. There was a special if you order over 30.00, you get to choose a free item. We chose the fried rice. This place closes at 8, and we came at 8:15! He still served us and took our order. Since we ordered sushi, this man had already cleaned up his setup for sushi, but he proceeded to put the cutting board back on the counter, and made our sushi fresh. Another awesome thing he did was, he noticed his chicken was dry, so he told us that he wanted to cook our chicken fresh, and asked us if we can wait for 5 more minutes. This guy went to the back and cooked us fresh chicken! He was already closed, and he wanted to make sure his food was served fresh. What a great business, and a great owner! He cared about his service, his customers, and he takes pride in serving his food. Btw, he even added some free chow mein. The portions were big, the food was fresh, and we knocked it out! My wife ate all of her 49ers Roll, my son knocked out his 2 item combo, and I ate every single piece of my freshly made terriyaki chicken. Thank you for your hospitality, courtesy, and honesty. You cared about us, eating your food, and we really appreciate that. We will be coming back for sure!

To whom it may concern,…read more a soul who delights in rich umami flavors, tasty Szechuan has found a place in my heart. As you make your way to your seat the hostess brings you a small bowl of fried peanuts with hot tea, which is super generous. The menu offers traditional yet caters to the native Hayward resident who doesn't know much about the Szechuan region, I'm that resident . The booths and tables remind me of my childhood traditional Chinese restaurant back in Fresno, ca yet with a modern twist, in my opinion portions are generous as well which is inviting for a family feast...well done tasty Szechuan.

All dishes came out as we hoped/expected with both the chicken and fish providing the nummy sensation that is unique to Szechuan cuisine. We threw in the eggplant order because we wanted some veggies and something that didn't overtly threaten to numb our palettes and were very happy with that as well. Chicken was fried well and not dry at all which was a lovely experience. Fish was also flavorful and enjoyable to eat, although perhaps the least memorable of the dishes. I wouldn't NOT get any of the dishes again and might elevate the chicken as a must get if you're there for the a Szechuan experience. Well probably come back the next time we get a craving for that nummy feeling.

A favorite for Vietnamese food in the area that's for sure. Can't wait til they open their new location soon. Even tho it won't be in CV..I don't mind driving to the Stack. My bf and I came an hour before closing and it was packed, but were able to get a seat as soon as we walked in. They have plenty of seating for large groups or smaller parties. The food here never disappoints! Ordered the large rare beef pho with extra beef on the side, the shrimp spring rolls and the fried potstickers. The pho is the best I've ever had. The broth is flavorful and seasoned to perfection. The soup is packed with meat and noodles. The spring rolls are fresh, the ingredients they use really make a difference in quality of the food. The fried potstickers are crunchy and delicious and the sauce they paired it with was sweet and balanced the flavor of the potstickers. Even though it was busy, the kitchen was quick and we had our food within minutes of ordering. This place has so much more than pho, I'll be back to try more from their extensive menu!
