Super cute mascot! It's located in the Fremont Food "Hall". You can mobile order for pick up or just order there. They also have some of their merch for sale as well. Interestingly enough, you can get Japanese rice dish plates here, like Chicken Katsu, Unagidon, curry, etc, as well as appetizers such as gyoza or karaage. For drink choices, they have various yakult drinks. I got a chocolate hazelnut, I think churro donut? Lots of flavors, sweet dessert donut, nice chewy mochi texture and not too oily. Solid mochi donut. So many Mochinuts have been destroyed after the boom, so this was a nice nostalgic taste. Bros have not updated their social media since January, so if you want an idea of flavors, I'd show up in person or call them if anything. read more

While I haven't tried the mochi donuts, their Japanese rice plates are delicious. A HUGE portion for a curry Katsu plate. Service is always friendly and prompt. Food comes out hot and fresh. The eating area is small but I've never had trouble finding a seat. It can get loud on account of the music and people talking. read more

This mochi donut shop is located in the Fremont food hall along with two other storefronts. We ordered on the kiosk and got our donuts pretty fast. I'd def recommend eating this when you get it right away. It tasted very fresh - light crunch on the outside with a chewy inside. I ordered a box of 8 for home and it still tasted good but the next day, the donuts were a lot softer (still tasty though!) Soft opening yesterday at Fremont Food Hall so we gotta give it a try since Gronut is closed and we need to get our mochi donut fixes. Clean environment and next to the Korean corn dog and Cafe. Maybe it's soft opening so on my 5 flavors available, we got the 8 donuts option, average to be $3.5/donut. Donut texture is more soft, good balance of chewiness and the glaze. Staff service to be improved, not very well trained, initially gave me the order with broken box and let the order sit on the counter for a while, she didn't call me until I ask if that was my order. Overall, all acceptable soft opening mistakes and hope they continue to improve. read more

We got three mochi donuts for sharing this past Saturday, ube, strawberry, and dark chocolate glaze. They were the perfect texture, nice and chewy. The glaze on top added just the right flavor to sweeten these yummy treats. It was a good snack before our drive out to Sacramento for the day. It's a really good donut shop to go to. They also serve snacks and rice plates. They may have limited items from the menu for now just like the rest of the vendors in Fremont Food Hall. The glaze from the donut isn't as hard and I quite prefer to put them in a paper that only side was left open (not two) to get the donut. The yakult tastes good, but they also let us have an option to remove the sprite soda. Not really that great tbh, but it's good enough for people to try mochi donuts if they never tried them yet. Probably should remove soda the next time I have yakult again to get more flavor from it. read more

Our kids absolutely loved the donut! The shape was adorable, and the texture was incredibly soft with every bite. The cream on top had just the right amount of sweetness--not overpowering at all. I was able to check out Smochi a while back on a busier day and it was pretty good. Most recently, we stopped by mid morning on a Monday and the entire Fremont Food Hall was completely dead. No one was in or around the Smochi counter and didn't see any signs of any specials, flavor descriptions, etc. There was an assortment of donuts shown under a plexiglass stand, but that was it. With no one behind the counter, we went over to the touch screen to see what was available. We ended up ordering 2 (two) Strawberry Smochi Donuts at $3.95 each and waited. Moments later, we see a girl walk in hanging up from a call and proceeds to the back, then calls our order number (even though we're the only ones in there) and hands us our donuts. About $10 after taxes for TWO mochi donuts... I wouldn't have a problem paying this if they were phenomenal, but they were far from it. They actually tasted like day old donuts; a little firm and stale tasting/consistency. Not what you would expect for a $4 mochi donut. read more

The donut glaze isn't overly hard, and I prefer storing them in a partially open paper container. The yakult is flavorful, and they offer the option to exclude the sprite soda. Interesting. There's no parking for starters unless you have an electric car. If you park behind Mega Mart, the security guard drives up and tells you it's restricted parking, but the signs don't say who it's restricted to. I was there at 10am. Three staff were hanging out at the donut shop so I was able to ask questions about the donuts, the Yakult beverages (which can be made with Sprite Zero, but I wanted coffee). I ordered 8 pack of donuts. Definitely a two hand thing to consume. A little pricey, but cute. read more

Donuts are nice and chewy. Really different from a regular donut. Paired the chocolate coconut donut with the mung bean latte from Capture Coffee and they surprisingly worked together. I think the restaurant is still in a soft launch, so please keep that in mind. We tried "Curry chicken rice plate". Unlike the name suggest, it's actually a Chicken katsu curry (which is a big plus for me at least), but the food itself was quite disappointing. Composition of foods in the plate was satisfying: Rice, pickled ginger, edamame, chicken katsu and chicken karaage (Japanese deep fried chicken). But the food was way below the standard: - Too much rice (entire box was filled with rice at the bottom) compared to how much meat you get. - Katsu batter came off. This is probably due to the high temperature while deep-frying or the ratio of the batter mixture. - Outer shell is almost burnt. Again, most likely due to the high temperature while deep-frying - Not sure whether it's chicken karaage or not, but the batter was really thick, almost like chicken was dipped in the batter for fish and chips. Also very burnt outside. The food composition was great, representation was also okay, but it felt like most of the basic cooking skills were ignored when cooking. read more
