I came in on a Thursday and tried their $19 Tropical Thursday special: macadamia nut mahi mahi with four coconut shrimp, coconut rice, and fresh vegetables. For $19, the portion and overall value were excellent. One thing that impressed me before the entrée even arrived was the complimentary sourdough bread. It came out warm, with just the right amount of tang. The crust was thin and crisp rather than overly thick or hard, while the inside stayed soft. They also made several cuts in the loaf before serving it, which made it very easy to pull apart and share. It sounds like a small detail, but I've been to plenty of restaurants where the complimentary bread arrives cold, overly hard, or as one large loaf that is awkward to tear apart. This one was genuinely very good. The entrée itself was generously portioned. The four coconut shrimp were crispy and flavorful, and I really enjoyed the coconut rice and vegetables as well. I also appreciated that the food was served on a hot plate, which helped everything stay warm during the meal. The one real disappointment was the mahi mahi. It was noticeably dry and somewhat underseasoned, so unfortunately the main piece of fish ended up being the weakest part of an otherwise very enjoyable plate. Everything else was quite good. Service was also above average. My server was a young gentleman who seemed attentive to the table. Shortly after the food arrived, he came over to see if I needed anything and specifically suggested things like salt and pepper. I appreciated that--it's more thoughtful and useful than simply asking a generic "Do you need anything?" He also checked in periodically during the meal without being intrusive. There were still a couple of small things keeping the service from being exceptional. The bread wasn't proactively refilled, and after I had completely finished everything on my plate, it would have been nice to have someone stop by fairly quickly to clear it and ask how everything was. Still, these are minor points, and overall I thought the service was very good, especially for a younger server. Overall, I left with a very positive impression and would definitely come back. Their Social Hour menu looks especially interesting, with good prices on oysters, mussels, scallops, calamari, and other starters. I'm also curious to return on a Sunday to try the $19 cioppino special. Very good value, attentive service, excellent complimentary bread, and mostly very good food. Haven't visited here in years!! Went with my mom and boyfriend. For starters we shared the traditional calamari and the clam chowder. The calamari was standard; crispy with generous amounts of squid, but you do have to ask for tartar sauce and lemon because it is only served with cocktail sauce. The clam chowder was quite excellent! Served piping hot, creamy, with a good amount of clam and potato chunks. Very good when you dip the complimentary sour dough in it. For my entree, I had the build your own two protein: I chose halibut ($5 extra) and trout. Both were lightly seasoned which was nice because you could still taste the fish. However, both fish could have been more flaky and soft. The fish and chips my boyfriend got were very flaky, crispy and delicious! Fries were a bit over done though in my opinion. Wow what an amazing introduction to butter fish! I've never even heard of it before but it was their special that day so decided to try it out and it was phenomenal. So tender and just totally soaked up all the flavor of the sauce. The coconut rice and broccolini perfectly paired with the fish and all around the whole dish was great. The base price starts off at $29.95, then you select your food options. There's an uncharged on the most popular selections like lobster and steaks. My lobster was cooked to perfection. Very tender and sweet. The filet was pretty small for the up-charge, and was slight over cooked from the medium rare I ordered. But was still tender and good. The grilled asparagus was a $4 up-charge and you only get 3 spears of asparagus. With the up-charged, my dish, the price was over $46. Lobster Roll - 5/5 The Lobster Roll was very delicious. You get some Lobster tail, but Lobster claw meat is more prominent (see pic). Still the spices along with the clarified butter made this roll very tasty and delicious. This was my first time eating here and man didn't make a great first impression!! It had a very dark, rustic or nautical, feel with the random knots and ropes around in the foyer, but also a fireplace and warm looking relaxing, cute aesthetics. The server was very helpful and we were able to order very easily. I ordered the Seabass with mashed potatoes, asparagus, and some olive trimmings. my boyfriend got the building your own meal thing and he had some sort of fish with shrimp and brussels sprouts without the candy bacon but they were way too sweet for both of our liking! Placed a DoorDash pick up order since i was driving through. I ordered the lobster roll and charred oysters. The oysters were very yummy and i liked the toppings but I knocked off a star because one of the oysters was itty bitty and for breaking down to $3.85 per oyster, I didn't feel that was fair. The lobster roll had a fair amount of meat and the fries were thin and crispy. I think I might skip next time as calamari is usually my fav appetizer. The portion was good though for a shareable and it was nice trying different items. It is spacious inside with plenty of dining booths, and there is outside patio seating as well. It is well maintained with nice decor. Lots of parking located at a big shopping plaza. Food I genuinely think the food is quite good for the price. We got two helpings of it even with the food we ordered because we wanted to eat it again. We ordered: a.) Manhattan & New England Clam Chowder (50/50 version) b.) Parmesan Crusted Fresh Halibut c.) Creole Jambalaya 2.) Restaurant I thought the restaurant looked pretty good and I loved the open kitchen concept. We sat next to the open kitchen so we got to watch the chefs cook and also the servers getting the food when it was delivered with the finishing touches. Good vibes. [[ Con's ]] 1.) Service It could just be an off-day but the service was not very good. Our server was very nice but super busy so we didn't get too much attention and waited a while to order. I never got my water refilled (or even asked for a refill) and she even charged me for a drink that I did not order. If I didn't look closely at the bill, I would have overpaid for an item that I never ordered. That definitely leaves a sour taste in my mouth. 2.) Tip Payment is made at the table with the device being shown to your face. Not only that, the restaurant "reverses" the normal tipping pattern and has the highest amount on the left instead of the smallest amount (I think it was 24%, 20%, 17%). Usually it's (18%, 20%, 22%) so my muscle memory was already off on the reverse direction. On top of that, it felt awkward paying the tip and then having the server look at the total amount before thanking me. That was very weird. 3.) Sticky Table The table was clean but it just felt sticky everywhere. We actually changed tables to another one and it was still sticky. Service I had to go to the back for the check asking the other servers and wait staff and our server came by later to bring us the check. Other than that he was attentive to all our needs, replacing silverware I thought needed to be cleaned additionally and pouring the smallest amount of water needed to keep my mom's cup full, which was nice. Food Top notch delicious and good value. At first, for the surf and turf (I had the steak and shrimp), the portion size of steak I was worried was small, but they gave also vegetable and potato side I didn't expect, and had ordered an additional side of potatoes. So we had plenty of leftovers. Bread as usual was soft on the inside with crispy crust so it's great. Calamari had a lot of tentacles, we had the traditional kind, but personally I prefer the sweet chili for some sweetness and some kick. Generous dessert amount for my dad's birthday. Came here for happy hour which happens 3-6pm on weekdays. You can only get happy hour at the bar or on the patio. We sat at the bar area which seemed a little compact but it was still nice. Also it did get a little warm on the bar side but it was a hot day! The service was pretty good. It did take awhile for a server to actually get to us, but once they did, it was good. The food was good! We loved the calamari and poke nachos. They have a good amount on their happy hour menu on top of daily specials. We are in Fremont weekly for work and frequent the Market Broiler for dinner. We typically order the daily special surf and turf. We found the meals very satisfying with our steaks broiled as requested (I like rare and my partner likes the medium rare), the vegetable side is plentiful and delicious (not soggy, overly cooked nor is it overly spiced). We also ordered the steamed clams (huge!) which was great for dipping our freshly baked bread into that wonderful clam broth!
