An exceptional coffee shop! They feature great roasters from around the country and offer multiple pour over and espresso options to really explore the beans/roasters. I had one of the best pour overs I have had in a long time during a recent visit. The beans--a single origin from Panama--were from Proud Mary, a great roaster. Stopped by after taking my fur babies to the veterinarian. Gaylon got the Cafe Mocha and I got a Chocolate Mocha with two extra pumps both with Almond Milk. The menu didn't explain the drinks. So these were picked based off me telling her what we drink from Starbucks. Smh. I am not an experienced coffee drinker. Literally this is my 4th cup the last 3 weeks in well over 10 years. But I decipher what the equivalent was so I had to ask. One size only. CHECK IN ON YELP FOR A 25% PASTRY. I did it after my transaction was completed so I couldn't use mine. Gaylon an experienced coffee drinker loved her drink but was disappointed in the size. I however hated mine so I let Gaylon have mine and I'm making her take me to where I originally wanted to go. Comet has slowly become my favorite coffee spot in the city. The have really upped their bakery game and are serving some amazing things including the Rebel Within, a famous San Francisco treat, and they're absolutely delicious. Besides that, they have croissants, cookies, cupcakes, tartes, muffins, etc. They don't roast their own coffee but they source from small roasters, some local, some not. It allows you to try a huge variety of things and there's always something new. I don't think I've ever been disappointed. Staff are super nice which is important. read more

We only had the chance to pick 1 coffeeshop to goto while passing through St. Louis, and we decided Comet coffee was the one! So glad we did. This place is a little hard to find driving wise and very much off the side of the highway. It may appear to be packed and not much seating, the line moves rather quickly and you'll find seating if you just wait a little. We got green tea, mushroom spinach quiche, hot chocolate, kobucha, americano, strawberry pistachio muffin, and more quiche! I have to say the tea (came piping hot!) was the perfect pairing with the quiche. The quiche is really light and fluffy, bold in flavor and had a good crust. The slice that you get is pretty substantial! My daughter is a pretty picky eater and she devoured the strawberry pistachio muffin. Love, love, love my experience of trying out Comet Coffee and Microbakery. It is located next to Forest Park next to Yoga Six. At Comet Coffee, Croissants is the star and they are phenomenal. Dont leave Comet without having a bite. If you decide to eat in, the server will warm up the croissants before serving. They are crispy, cruncky and flaky! I have also tried the latte. Dropped by this week and decided to try the "twice baked" pistachio croissant. It was amazing!! I love all their croissants, the bear-claw is my go to but the pistachio was very special. Their chocolate chunk cookies are the best I've found in the area as well. Parking here is a bit odd. There are back in diagonal spots in the front which I hate (this is my failing as I do not like backing int parking spaces) but there are also some spots in the back that are usually open and you can walk through the small lobby of the building straight into comet. The place is small and the tables do fill up. I usually get my order to go but it can be a nice place to meet a friend for a leisurely coffee as well. read more

Why haven't I stopped here before? It is out of the way for me but I have seen it enough that I needed to head out one morning. I am glad I did. The folks behind the counter were patient and explained all the choices of the coffee. I ended up with a Peruvian and a slice of Broccoli Cheddar Quiche. Both were good. And since I wasn't in a rush.... round two. I tried a Barundi and a Blue Berry Muffin. One of the staff stopped by with my second order and we chatted about the building and the roller coaster poster and coffees. Very friendly. About my only complaint, and I see this as a customer issue, are people who bring in laptops and take a 4 top table up for a log time. I will be back, this is a destination place for me. read more

Comet is always a solid choice. The croissants are massive, buttery, and flaky like you want. The crispy crunchy sound when you bite into them is basically real life ASMR. The quiches are solid. I went with a bacon and gruyere quiche during my last visit with a chocolate croissant for later and an iced jasmine tea with honey lavender syrup. Everything was great. The staff are super friendly and keep the line moving for such a small space. The inside can feel a bit cramped but there's a covered patio where you can sit out front. read more

Went to Comet Coffee today. Unfortunately the payment service, Square had an outage and they were not taking credit cards or debit cards and only taking cash. I did not have any cash on me, however the barista wasted no time letting me know that it is ok and that that will still take care of me. Great service to take care of me. Love this place! It's right by apartment so I go fairly often and they have the best baked good. The chocolate croissants are the best I've ever had. When they run out, which happens often, anything else they have is going to be good! I've have their cookies, plain croissants, and muffins and haven't been disappointed. I decided to randomly try this coffee shop on a Saturday morning after a walk in Forest Park which is close by. This was the first time I tried Comet coffee. Everything I got was excellent! The service was very good. I ordered a sweet potato and herb scone which they warmed up and it was fabulous and not dry at all. I also tried the s'mores tart which was recommended by the barista. It was so yummy, it was very fresh and it wasn't overly sweet. The coffee came out looking delicious visually and also tasted delicious. This is a must try! read more

I have no idea why it took me so long to check out this business because it is absolutely amazing!! This local coffee shop opened up in 2012 and is open seven days a week. It's a bit smaller of a coffee shop, but it wasn't too busy when I visited so I was still able to find a spot to sit and study. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by the staff. After looking over the entire menu, I decided to order an oat milk latte and a pain au chocolat (chocolate croissant) and these items did not disappoint. I can confidently say that this was the best croissant I have had since Europe!! I am not fancy enough to come here! Or so it felt.... I knew I was going to need some caffeine before visiting the art museum and the zoo. Not being familiar with the area, we turned to Yelp to point us in the right direction. We were looking for something close to Forest Park so we wouldn't have to go too far out of our way. Comet is in a bit of a strip, on the first floor of a bigger building with a Jimmy John's and some condos. There is back-in diagonal parking out front, and a decently sized lot out back. But good luck finding parking back there. It is prime spots, and people will stay in their cars, blocking the driving lanes, waiting for someone to leave. During our visit, we got there just as the line to order was about to go out the door. It gave us plenty of time choose which pastry we were going to have with our coffee. I ordered a black coffee (with room for cream) and a piece of quiche. I got the coffee to go and they warmed up the quiche for me to eat while waiting for the coffee. The coffee was taking longer than the pastry parts because the way they do coffee here...it is ART. Every cup is individually brewed, so you get to choose the kind of coffee you want. They have a process and a rhythm, and it is strangely soothing to watch them. If it hadn't been so busy, it would have been nice and relaxing to sit and watch for a while. We were lucky that a table had opened just as we finished ordering, so we had somewhere to sit and eat. If you are wanting cream with your coffee, they bring it to you in a small pitcher. Sugar and sweetener is near the far door in the back, which is hard to get to if there is, say, a long line of people waiting to order. It was really crowded, but the coffee was good and the food was tasty. If you don't mind a bit of a wait, and don't care about frou-frou drinks, this a place for you. read more

The BEST coffee I've ever had. I stopped by Comet coffee to check it out on a Saturday morning after hearing rave reviews. This place is worth the hype! Gorgeous selection of pastries ranging from sweet and savory croissants, quiche, pie, and muffins. I ordered their most affordable black coffee (so that I could use their sweet yelp check in discount!) and was blown away by how delicious it was. The baristas were all lovely, and I stuck around for a bit to hang out on their patio area (it's a good place to study too with the free WiFi) where a few patrons were hanging out with their dogs. I definitely recommend going as early as possible! When I showed up at 8:05 there was already a line! It's worth the wait though. read more

The coffee was pretty good, however my croissant was burnt and way too crunchy. It was pretty uncomfortable to eat. The inside is nice and fine to work in. Though I feel like the bench seating is up way too high for the tables. I felt like I was in a high chair. The staff was nice and even gave out small glasses of sparkling water with the coffee. They have some form of a reward system there as well, so if you frequent the shop you'll get some discounts. I didn't have much coffee while in St. Louis so I can't compare or even name the best coffee there. Comet Coffee is solid coffee. Honestly, the only reason I picked this place(when searching through the Yelp app)... it's named after a Comet. I like space and space things so the coffee has to be good, right? I've mentioned it in other coffee reviews and I'll mention it here. If you can't make a good cup of coffee without putting sugar and cream in it, then you just can't-do coffee. This location is located in a building with many other things. It was busy. Even with the line, a table opened up by the time we ordered. I ordered a goat cheese, walnut, and pear scone. It was tough passing up all the other treats but goat cheese was winking at me on this particular morning. It was delicious. It made me want more though. It wasn't that big of a scone but it was enough to satisfy me and prepare my energy for a day at Forest Park. When ordering coffee, I didn't realize you get a serve-yourself pot with your cup. The coffee pot is enough to squeeze two to three cups out of it. I normally don't drink coffee fast but as soon as I had a taste of this coffee... it was gone before I knew it. I ordered their Karatu, Kenya coffee. This coffee is roasted by Sweet Bloom Coffee in Denver and includes tastes such as hibiscus, tangerine, and cherry. It was the perfect start to my morning. I should've bought a bag(they also sell bags of coffee). The only reason I'm taking off one star? It didn't feel like a coffee shop to me. I'm not sure why other than it was too bright. Also, it's in a weird area right off the highway so you have nothing to look at besides concrete and traffic. People were obviously in there on their laptops working, reading, and doing school work but I'm not sure if it would be the best atmosphere for me to do any of those things. One last thing to note that's cool is how they prepare the coffee. All the coffee is hand-brewed to order using a V60 pour-over. It seems odd at first to have all of these manual processes happening in front of you but after a few minutes you get used to it and it becomes relaxing to watch. Next time I'm in St. Louis, I fully intend on going back here. I might give their other location a chance to see how it compares. read more
