A great little place at the bottom of an office building to get a decent baked bite and cup of coffee. The only small downside which is largely based on personal preference is the lack of robust coffee flavor which my companion and I suspect and assume is due to using a light roast. However the drinks were made very well and they appear to have a solid team in the shop who know what they're doing and are friendly enough to their guests, plus we found it a great atmosphere to sit, study, and relax awhile which is definitely a plus! Breakfast sandwich deets: long-shredded spinach was a great choice. Too many places use full leaves, which tend to get caught up in cheese or slide off the egg. Not too much cheese, but enough to really just leave you wondering where the cheese ends and the egg begins. The EGG! My oh my...crustless-quiche-style egg, you have my heart. Perfectly cooked, soft, fluffy, but firm enough to not fall apart in the sandwich when taking a bite - simply frickin' delightful. The sandwich was a lovely temperature to feel like I had eaten in the restaurant and had waited the exact amount of time for it to not burn the tongue out of my mouth. I came here on a Saturday morning after a friend recommended this place. She mentioned the pistachio croissant which caught my attention. It was very busy but service was fast! I'm a sucker for craft coffee so had to give Comet Coffee a try. I ordered the Brandywine Costa Rica Las Lajas Roast and I was very impressed by the quality. As soon as I picked up the cup, I couldn't help but notice that this was one of the most aromatic and fragrant coffees I have had in a while. On the taste, the coffee had a rich silky mouthfeel with an acidic and fruity flavor that jumps out and lingers into the finish. It's obvious that they are using quality beans and are brewing their coffee with a lot of care. On the flipside, my coffee was $4.80, so you have to decide whether it's worth the price or not. For me, it's probably too expensive to get regularly, but maybe it's more of a treat to get on occasion. If you want top-tier coffee, and don't mind paying a premium, this is the place to go! read more

High craft coffee. Enough said. Recently, I had the Guatemala. It was perfectly brewed and absolutely delicious. This is how it is every single time at this place, every brew I've tried. You can always trust their picks. I was meeting my wife and a friend, but was the first to arrive. I wanted to buy Julia's drink, but since she wasn't there yet, the barista asked if I'd like them to hold off until they saw her arrive. That is such awesome hospitality. Surly, a couple minutes after she arrive, here comes her oat milk iced vanilla latte. Perfectly timed, they are the true champs, but it made me look good too ;). (Still always looking for ways to impress!) Generally speaking, the atmosphere at this place is always enjoyable. I find the quiet hustle of this place extremely conducive to getting work done. People there knew me by name. I wish they still had their pre-pandemic hours, but the owners explained that they just didn't have the capacity to keep doing that. You know you're having a rough morning when someone asks if you just woke up when you've been awake for four hours. I took the bags under my eyes over to Comet Coffee in desperate need of something wonderfully caffeinated, and I found it in their house blend. I really like this place. The employees are so friendly here, and will gladly walk you through all of the different kinds of coffee they offer (they have quite a bit!) I added a tiny bit of skim milk and sugar to the house blend and it kept me going all afternoon. The flavors were so intense but it didn't have that tart after-taste I sometimes find in coffee. I was fully-caffeinated halfway through but kept drinking, and about a half hour in I was ready to blast off right out of my seat. Success! I had the pleasure of meeting the manager who told me that they make all of their pastries and treats in-house, so I'll obviously be back in for that soon. Sad because Intelligentsia is such a good coffee and this one didn't hit the mark. Unroasted: walking up you don't get that neighborhood feel. It feels like it's a grab and go place. Oh man. I hadn't had a chance to stop in comet for a solid year, but found my way back here Sunday. I finally had the appetite to try one of their amazing baked goods. I am a sucker for scones, and the pear, walnut and goat cheese scone hit the spot! Plus the pour over coffee was delicious! I normally don't care too much about fancy coffee, but this was good and even my unrefined coffee palate could tell. The atmosphere is so unique! Hands down the best coffee in town. I recently moved to Dogtown and thought my only coffee option was to stop by Dunkin Donuts on the way to my work in Fenton. Barf. I'm so glad I found Comet. All of the employees put so much care and love into making your coffee (literally speaking, as I usually get a heart in my foam!), there isn't customer service like this anywhere else in STL in my opinion. Kaldi's is a close second, but Comet just gives you the warm and fuzzies. Everyone is genuinely happy to be there and to act as your morning pick-me-up. Now to the coffee. My regular order is the cappuccino with skim milk. It's smooth, the perfect temperature, and the milk has the perfect froth. Granted it does take 5-10 minutes to get your coffee, but that's because every cup is brewed fresh in their individual steepers.
