I would like to thank Comfort System for being very patient with me and my situation. They came out to do an $89 inspection and have been out three times in an attempt to document the faults in my system through visual inspection only so as not to void any warranty that may be in place from the installation company. They have found that the system (installed not long ago) has multiple installation issues that is preventing proper operation and have detailed their inspection so I can go back to the installers (Brothers) and asked them to fix their work. My AC is still not working but at least I may have an idea of why now. read more

They came out to look at the AC. There was an $89 diagnostic fee. They confirmed we had already cleared the clogged drain ourselves the night before. I told him the shutoff on the system had failed, and he quoted me for installing two new ones. Then he reached under the drip pan, felt water, and quoted another $700 for a new pan. When I asked if the water under there could just be leftover from it leaking, he said the only way to know if it actually had a hole was to fill it up with water. To me, a diagnostic fee means they're supposed to figure out what's actually wrong. Instead they wanted to charge $700 for something they didn't even confirm needed fixing. So I just paid the $89 and still don't have a complete diagnosis. But at least I wasn't scammed out of $1,400.00 read more

WARNING!!! Now, after 3 years, I'm finding out that since Comfort Air didn't properly provide for drainage on my $12,000 heat pump (for 1400 sq. ft.) I'm now dealing with the mold build up from the system draining under my house. Literally over $ 10,000 in mold remediation and damage of personal belongings, and memorabilia. TERRIBLE company. READ FIRST if even thinking of going with them. Bought a unit in 2020. Said to be their best unit. The owner, Matthew Sy, came out and sold me on it. Didn't even look under my house. What sold me was parts were easy to get for their Armstrong Air units. SIX MONTHS later, high pressure errors/unit would stop working. Thermostat would stop communicating with uni and shut off. Solution got his was to take thermostat off wall and let it reset. High pressure error was said to be due to unit being too strong for duct work. Why did he not check under the house when I bought it? Gave 2 options. Free option was expand returns & hope it helps. Other was to redo duct work at a cost of $7-8K. Home was only 8 years old so that was out of the question. They expanded it, problems persisted. Stopped having them come out because we did not want to have to pay a service fee for something that was clearly their fault and could not resolve. Ignoring the errors. Missed an error that normally we should have taken serious and have to pay $600 to have pump installed. Board/motor covered under warranty BUT these parts not easy to get like I was originally sold on. SIX days during the hottest part of the summer in 2024 with NO AIR. Summer 2025, FIVE days with NO AIR over the 4th of July weekend because they had to get a part. Thermostat continued to lose communication with the unit. Taking it off the wall it landed wrong on the floor cracking screen. Tech came out, cost to replace the thermostat? $1300. Not covered under warranty. I shouldn't have to constantly be taking thermostat off wall. That's not a solution to the problem. Tried to get the owner Matthew Sy to call me back multiple times. Was told he's a "business man" and hard to get ahold of. Funny, he was never hard to get when he wanted to sell me something. I vented to the tech how terrible of an experience I have had for the past 5 years and how I was almost to the point of contacting Action 9 news because of the terrible service. Sy was not man enough to even call me back. Had tech call me and ask that I kindly take my business elsewhere b/c I "threatened" them. I guess trying to get a company to stand behind their work and product by reaching out to Action 9 is a threat now. FYI, they say they've served York County for 60 years. This isn't the same Comfort Systems that Mr. Williams built up after all these years. Just someone that bought the name. Makes me think back to when I was sold the unit. Did he just not know his product and sold me too powerful a unit? Or did he purposely sell it knowing he was creating a problem that he could sell the solution to on down the road? Constant revolving door of techs. Rarely saw the same one twice. I will say Jordan was amazing. He deserves to work at a better company. Dozens of other AC companies in York County and the surrounding areas. I'd stay as far away from Comfort Systems as possible. They do not know to properly diagnose and solve problems nor do they stand behind their work. read more

Mike and his team was awesome at finding the gas leaks and quick to replace 22 year old system. They even brought in our garbage cans for us! They were neat, helpful and very professional. Our air conditioning was on its last legs. Mr. Sy and one of his installation experts came and went over not just the air conditioner( an old Lenox)but the checked the air runs. They were not efficient. Our bedroom was a problem with both heat and air. They restructured the bedroom and put in a new much more efficient AC . All we can say is thank you . Even during recent heat wave our home is always comfortable. A big factor in our comfort is the humidity is reduced . We are able to keep our thermostat much higher and yet we are more comfortable. I was a member of the Comfort Club, I had my AC serviced yesterday. While at work, I received a text from my wife that the technician, Ricky, said that I need to replace the battery in the outside unit. I called my wife back and she put me on speaker so Ricky could talk and listen. I asked him where is the battery located because I was not aware the outside unit needed a battery. He stated that the battery is located in the outside compressor unit and this needed replaced to prevent damage to the compressor. Not knowing anything about the battery or how much it would cost me to install it myself, I told Ricky to swap the batteries and agreed to the $267.00 cost for the part. He said there would be no labor charge since he was already here. When I seen the emailed invoice. He actually installed a capacitor, not a battery, these are two totally different items. If Ricky would have told me it was a capacitor, I would have told him that I could change that myself. I called Grainger and talked to two other Goodman Service centers this morning to get a price compare. The highest price I found was $36.25. I removed the cover today to get the part number. I could see where the older capacitor was smaller than the newer one, because the bracket that holds the capacitor did not fit, the vibration had already caused the capacitor to slide down where the electrical terminals were touching the bracket causing it to spark when the unit turned on, this was a major fire hazard. I had to remove the bracket, move it over two holes and insert the bracket in the side wall then re-install the bracket. A very simple fix. So I emailed Comfort Systems this morning, asking for a reduced price on the capacitor since that was 6 times the cost of a new one and because I was told the incorrect part he needed to change. I went back and forth several emails and the only solution the Manager could come up with was to send someone out and put my old one back on. She said she could not lower the price. I just cancelled my annual agreement and highly recommend anyone who does business with them to think twice. We could have lost our home last night or even ourselves. Update: After posting this review, the office manager emailed me and has issued me a full refund of the part and also offered to leave the new capacitor on my unit. These reviews could have been avoided if after my first complaint, they would have sent the last email first. I didn't expect a full refund, just something fair since I feel I was over charged and I had to make repair adjustments myself. But thanks to Autumn for making this right. read more

I bought a brand new system from these people and I'm freezing my ass off!! The system is set on 70 but the actual temperature is 65. It can't meet demand on my small 1200ft home. IT'S BRAND NEW!!! Comfort Systems has a maintenance program (Comfort Club) where they come out twice a year to check the rotors on the furnace transpondsters and make sure everything's running smoothly. Unfortunately, on our last check, we got the bad news - we needed a new furnace. When they arrived Tuesday morning, all seemed well until they couldn't get the the new furnace through our tiny, attic door. Uh oh. They were able to take apart the door frame and get it in, and then Doug and Damien went to Lowe's to get the materials to put the door frame back together. So impressed. I think it's better now than when they started! Buying a new furnace and having it installed is never exciting, but Doug and Damien were prompt and professional and went above and beyond the call of duty. read more

This company has not been the same since The original owner retired years ago. I believe his name was Johnny Williams. I decided to stay with them to my regret. I seriously think they have training courses to see what they can sell you , and most of the time you do not need it. I called this morning about my furnace not heating. That was at 9:30. It's 3:40 now and I have not heard a word from them. Also, their Comfort Club is a joke. I quit it because the last guy they sent over spent approx. 10 minutes at my house and did nothing but fill out his paper work. Their new moto should be " Sales and NO Service ". Just installed two new heating and air systems that totaled over $13,000. Two days later, the drip tray that was not connected leaked water all over our attic and now half the ceiling is on the floor on our second story. But hey, they have our money. We called and have waiting 12 hours with no one showing up. This is the worst company ever. They insisted we needed new systems, and the amount of money we spent, they should have done it right. Now we have a mess on our hands and lousy response to our repeated requests for them to come out. DO NOT HIRE THESE GUYS! read more

This business does not stand behind their work. They are rude, expensive and will not strive to work out issues they created with their customers. They installed my system 2 years ago and its under a 5 year warranty. It wasn't cooling after 1 year and they came out and said it was fine. It still wasn't cooling so I called someone else to asses it. That company found there was a leak. I call Comfort Systems back and they said "too bad" we are not going to honor your warranty since you called someone else to look at it and that will be $1800 to fix this leak. No discussion, no trying to work something out, no meeting in the middle and accepting their responsibility in not diagnosing this properly and forcing me to call someone else. TERRIBLE COMPANY! I found someone else who cannot honor the warranty to do the work, but will do it even cheaper than CS quoted me. Customer Service is not on their mind at all. RUN!! read more

0 Stars - was forced to put 1 star. My furnace caught on fire. Jason Rawdon (supposedly their sales manager) came out to my house to price a complete new system. He frequently seemed evasive, as I had done research and was asking questions. He gave me a really good price though, because he said they had bought hundreds of heat pumps at one time and got a great deal. He TOLD me I was getting a Lennox Heat Pump model 14HPX, which was 14 SEER and 8.2 HSPF ratings - Lennox's bottom of the line product, but it met federal guidelines and I was fine with that. What Jason actually wrote on the quote was "comparable" to Lennox 14HPX. He explained that was only because they put their "private label" of "Comfort Club" on the heat pump - but assured me it was built in the same plant as Lennox on the same assembly line and with the exact same parts. Other things were also suspicious, he was evasive about the indoor parts and kept trying to steer me away from the energy efficient components I was asking for. He promised to replace my existing refrigerant lines bc I had a leak somewhere, but on the actual quote he said they would "re-use" existing refrigerant lines. For the next week, I did research. Jason avoided my calls and e-mails, and I was given multiple excuses over and over. Someone at the company (Amber Shipman) finally let it slip the actual heat pump I was getting would indeed say "Comfort Club" - but it was built by Armstrong, not Lennox. Amber still falsely claimed it was built in IA on the Lennox assembly line with the same equipment though - although I checked with Lennox and that is an absolute LIE. Instead of the same plant and assembly line, Lennox heat pumps are made in IA, Armstrong is made in Orangeburg SC!! But the real reason they hide the fact is because they are selling equipment manufactured prior to 2015 - THAT is why they got the great deal on their equipment. It is not compliant with the department of energy guidelines that went into effect January 1st, 2015. They are selling outdated junk that can't be legally manufactured anymore and dumping it off on unsuspecting customers by falsely claiming they are selling them Lennox 14HPX units!! They have advertised their complete system for $4,200 deals all over the area - and it is all a SCAM. These are 13 SEER systems (minimum federal standard anywhere in the US has been 14 since Jan. 1st 2015) with terrible heat efficiency ratings (well below 7.7, although Armstrong claims it can reach 7.7 "IF" paired with very good furnace and coil equipment which Comfort Systems isn't giving you - and even if it did the minimum heat efficiency rating has been 8.2 since Jan. 1st 2015!) They lied to me over and over and over, and when I finally pinned them down on what they were actually selling me, Jason said we can sell you real 14 SEER equipment, but it is going to cost you a lot more!! Comfort Systems are lying about what brand you are getting, the efficiency you are getting, hiding the FACT their systems don't meet minimum federal guidelines, and are willing to lie as much as needed to get away with this. I demanded to speak with the owner (Matt Sy) after I found all this out, said I wanted to see him in person, and the man wouldn't even speak with me over the phone. He sent a brief e-mail reply bragging he can still legally sell these things, made no comment about all the lies and the fact my quote said "Lennox 14HPX", and wished me luck!! These are nothing but deceptive crooks!!! * Almost immediately after I posted online about my experience with Comfort Systems, Matt decided he finally wanted to contact me with the following threat: "Mr Johnson Who should my attorney contact about the Libel suit I will be filing against you Sent from my Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7." read more

We would give ZERO stars if we could. Comfort Systems of York County installed our HVAC system in 2013 and we have had problems with it continually. The blower motor on the air handler is now having to be replaced for the second time. The first blower motor was replaced 2 yrs after the original install, and the Comfort System tech mentioned that the existing duct work should have been changed out with the installation of the new air handler, however we were never informed of inadequate duct system before our purchase, or we could have addressed the issue at that time. We now are having issues once again so we called another company out to assess the situation and we were told again that the duct work does not support the unit that was installed by Comfort Systems, and that the insufficient duct work is cause of the blower motors failing prematurely. Due to the incompetence of Comfort Systems at the time of installation, we are now being forced to upgrade our duct work to prevent future motor issues, and dealing with system outages while this work is being performed. read more

Once you can get them to your house its great, but getting a call back and scheduling seems to be a HUGE problem for these guys. After they replace my downstairs AC in the spring I called on a Saturday when my heat stopped - after 4 calls no-one ever called me back. The following day I called at 8 am and finally got someone to come out. They fixed the 'safety switch' then 3 days later same thing again. Called them at 8 am on a Wed and did not get a call back for 2 hours - I mean this is NOT proper customer service! read more

Very dissatisfied with my experience with this company. THey looked at my heater 10/7/15. On 10/16/15 I realized I had not heard anything about the part they had to order. THey told me they would tell me on monday. No call from them on monday. I called myself and they said it would be there next day. They also promised to call me and tell me when it would be repaired the next day. THe next day, again, no call. I called them. No part. THey said "the next day" It was finally repaired 10/21/15, 2 weeks later. I suspect the part was not ordered until Monday. They didn't have the same slow service when it came to payment. They called me twice at work asking for payment when I didn't even know the heater was repaired. I told them I would call them back after work which I did. I wouldn't recommend them nor will I use them again. STAY AWAY from this company. read more

From my experience (and it may be the exception) It seems they are very concerned about milking as much money out of a customer as humanly possible. I had a drain vacuumed out, and old thermostat reattached cost $311. That's running a vacuum and screwing in 6 screws. Find another HVAC company. I had the same experience as Wes regarding getting sold equipment supposedly " equivalent " to name-brand--in my case the salesman said it was made by Carrier. Then Comfort Systems sticks their Comfort Club sticker on it ( so you're pretty much stuck with using their maintenance contract every year). When I later tried to verify that it was made by Carrier, the service guy looked at me like I was crazy. I also had the same experience with owner Matthew Sy evading me until finally he ignored me altogether & refused to respond. The secretary at the office would say he's at a "job site" & I would never get a call back. One time they said he was "out of the country". He never fixed the issues and it's unbelievable how poorly & disrespectfully this long-time customer was treated. I agree with Wes J. --Sales numbers seem to be their priority, not customer care & service, as they ridiculously advertise. I don't even have to do the research on my units to feel I've just been had. Thankfully I have found a different company I can trust, even though I am still stuck with the equipment Comfort Systems sells. Meeting Bob Provost from Comfort Systems of York County was a pleasure. I had several other water company's come to my home to do there talk and show how much issues were with our city water but when Bob came over we talked for a while and he showed us the gunk that was in our water system that we drink everyday and believe me that was not a good thing then bob left us his card and information if we were interested it a filtration system for our home. A few days passed me and my wife talked about meeting Bob and were very impressed that he never called us back to push us into a system do to all of the other company's would and it was annoying. We met Bob on Saturday August 22nd and I called him on Tuesday August 25th and he came over and I signed the papers for a new EcoWater system for our home plus also purchased the Reverse Osmosis system for the kitchen and also purchased an Air Oasis NANO system Induct Air Sanifier for cleaner air in our home. Bob installed the EcoWater System on Saturday August 29th with Technician BRYON POOLE and it went Awesome. Bryon did a fantastic job building both units and Bob is a great Person and Salesman for Comfort Systems of York county you are very lucky to have such a great person selling for you company. Bryon Poole worked very hard all day to finish this rough install by himself and with the help from Bob when needed. Bob Provost and Bryon Poole are very professional on how they deal with the customer and they deserve APPLAUSE for all they due to get the installation completed. Great Team Work Bob and Bryon. Up until today, I was a customer of Comfort Systems. What set this small local Heat and Air contractor above the rest was the customer service from the office. I had used them for years way back when I was a single parent when the need for this kind of service always arose at the most financially inopportune time. They always until today let me pay them off. I ALWAYS paid them. Their "brand" is no better or worse than the bigger, more established Heating and Air contractors. What set them above the rest was their customer service and respect which I received none of today. Prior to today, I had a service in January which is 60% paid off. Last evening my AC malfunctioned and a tech came out. He didn't have the part and as a result, he discounted the "after hours" extra fee which was nice. Another tech came out today and said that the owner wanted to paid up front. Greed took over and instead of giving this disrespect to non-paying disloyal customers, he gave this wonderful treatment to a loyal, paying customer. He said unless it was paid up front today, he told the tech to "yank the motor out" (which was the root cause of my malfunction). I told the tech to tell his boss as I was at work, that I would let him "yank the motor out and eat his time and the tech's time from last night" if he didn't accept half the payment of today's service now. The tech came back and said his boss said that he will come after me for the other half on Thursday. If I have to pay for the whole service up front, I will go to the bigger and more established bigger Heating and AC contractors and be treated with respect as the bigger contractors can stomp on Comfort Systems like the "cock roaches' that they are. They definitely lost their edge today!!! read more
