In response to the excuse made for my last 1 star review.....I called and said my furnace would cut out regularly. So the heat stops working daily. Yes when people call about furnace issues it's typically because it isn't producing heat. That's pretty much all furnaces do. So the excuse here is I somehow used the wrong terminology? What's the excuse for multiple no show/ no call on service days? What's the excuse for not responding to texts when I was asked to text? I own multiple properties & deal with contractors regularly. I've never seen this level of rudeness to a customer from another hvac company. I thoroughly stand by the 1 star review. I only wish I could give 0 stars. read more

After a couple weeks of my furnace acting up, it finally stopped starting. I called Comfort Zone around Noon on Saturday, they answered promptly, set an appointment for that afternoon at 2pm, showed up on time, and were efficient, courteous, and professional. Eli listened to my issue, diagnosed the problem quickly, and was able to make the needed repair. He also advised on how the furnace was functioning, what could cause the problems, and advised to schedule a tune up again in the Fall. We also discussed replacement costs, at my request. He did not push replacing the machine, but did provide information I requested and answered a number of questions. Over the past few months our heating/air conditioning blower was not working. At the start of the fall season, the blower decides to have a heart attack. We had Deljoe come out and give us an estimate of what the job would entail and they told us we needed a whole new system. To replace the blower would have been over $1,300. Deljoe tried to sell us on getting a whole new system that would have cost more than 6K. So, we didn't do anything for several months. Decided to look a little more closely at what it would cost to just replace the blower and discovered it would be less than $700. I called Eli and on the same day he came out. After having services being done by Deljoe, my expectations were not that high. Elie went straight to work and discovered other issues that were created by Deljoe, such as wires being disconnected from the thermostat making it virtually impossible to turn the heating on. We have Ecobee as our thermostat, but he was not able to figure out why the thermostat was not working. Throughout the entire time he was there he kept me informed of what he was doing and why. I called Comfort Zone on Saturday morning and Elie came over within a few hours on the timeframe he advised. He was very professional and methodical in helping sort out the issue with my AC that suddenly stopped the night before during a heatwave. He pointed out the issue with the condensation build up that tripped the sensor and caused the AC to shutdown. He also did a thorough job with the AC unit that badly needed cleaning and replaced the insulation of the pipes. I definitely recommend Elie! read more

After it being so cold, I couldn't handle not having heating. The furnace in one area wasn't working correctly, and a thermostat hadn't been working in another, so although I ignored the thermostat for the second furnace I couldn't have no heat at all. Thankfully they were able to come out the next day and get everything fixed up. New blower motor, new thermostat, and everything was good as new--and warm! He had booties which I asked if he would wear when he entered. He was using a neck gaiter, not a mask, and had I known that would be his mask (which he forgot to put back on when he came downstairs...). I would have had one of my disposable KN95s available for his use. You may wish to confirm whether or not he will be wearing a proper mask or if he will wear one provided by you if that is a concern. There's some sort of confusion about the whole house humidifier; I was told that a plumber should look at it, but when I had a plumber in later in the week the plumber said there was no issue. I'm not going to have the HVAC person in again because I don't want to pay for that at the moment and if it hasn't been working for a while a bit longer won't hurt anything. He had been to this unit before, and does good work, so I would use him again and keep him in mind as someone to suggest to others. read more

Elie and Comfort Zone Heating were total lifesavers when my AC started fizzling out during a heat wave! I have a condition that makes me very susceptible to warm temperatures. I recently hired Elie to replace 2 furnaces in a multifamily unit I own. I have been a landlord for 20+ years and self manage my properties. I am also a Realtor and have worked with many contractors and service providers over the years. I am so glad I called Elie and Comfort Zone Heating. It was the kind of experience you HOPE to have but rarely do. I always start my search online reading reviews, then I start making the calls once I narrow down the companies that have great reviews. Elie had amazing reviews and when I called he immediately answered. He was very responsive and was able to go out the same day. My tenants had no heat at the end of November!! and I was very grateful for the fast response. He went to the property, sent me pictures and called to explain everything in great detail. I felt very comfortable with him and could tell he was very knowledgeable and I found him to be very trustworthy. The underlying cause of my furnace issue was water damage that I had not been able to pinpoint the source of, and I don't live in the area so I was not able to fully investigate. Elie actually went (above and beyond) and checked my chimney to see if the water was coming from there and he recommended I have a chimney company take a look, I had not thought of that and ultimately that was the cause of the water intrusion. I had a plumber come out as well and nothing was leaking from the plumbing. I asked Elie to give me a quote to replace both furnaces and I was pleasantly surprised to find out his pricing was very reasonable and extremely competitive. He and his team got the work done on a Saturday and spent at least 9-10 hours getting it done in one day. Elie also came out to the property the day before to make sure he would have everything needed to get the job done the following day. This is the difference you experience when working with a professional, small business owner that takes pride in their work. To say Elie and his team went above and beyond is an understatement! Mistakes happen, but it is how you handle them that makes a company. Unfortunately, when Elie and two other HVAC techs installed a new HVAC combo unit in our condo during the winter months, they failed to attach the primary drain valve on the AC unit to the main drainage pipe in our condo. As a result, several months later, when we started using the AC, our condo neighbor notices water damage to her hardwood floors. Upon further inspection, we found the source of the water damage was because the drainage valve was never connected, and water seeped into our neighbors unit and damaged our floors too. I reached out to Elie via email and phone, he never responded. Next, I had to contact Jerald, Rockford Insurance, who had the Liability Policy that Comfort Zone was required to provide for the installation. Rockford denied the claim by simply stating, "They are not liable for the water damage." Much like Elie, Jerald won't respond to phone calls or emails asking for further explanation of why they aren't liable. Honestly, I'm shocked that I now have to pay for the damages to the hard floors in my condo and my neighbors because Elie and Comfort Zone forgot to attach a drainage valve. I'm writing this review as a buyer beware; when trying to support a small business, you can sometimes get burned when there is an issue. I was 100% satisfied with everything they did during the original installation, from price, timing, and professionalism. Just know if anything goes wrong, they will leave you hanging. I just had the pleasure of meeting with Elie Ewan, the owner and president of Comfort Zone Heating and Air-conditioning & Refrigeration. I have two boilers on the property where we live, one in the front house and one in a rented coach house in back - and Elie came to conduct annual maintenance and inspection. We have used several heating and air-conditioning companies over the years and based on those experiences I want people to know that Elie (pronounced 'Eli') was terrific. He was considerate, soft spoken, not aggressive, clearly knowledgeable, reasonable regarding cost, and willing to explain what he was doing and why. I asked what was perhaps too many questions and he was patient and took the time to answer every question. When I asked about making changes to the system which we would have gladly paid for, he politely talked me out of it - saying though he would do what we were asking, the things I was asking about were not necessary. This to me is the essence of integrity - not just thinking about making money, but doing the right thing. As the winter is approaching I go into the heating season feeling good about having made contact with Comfort Zone and Elie - knowing that if we run into difficulties - we have a reliable, knowledgable, "go to" service provider. Called New Years Eve afternoon, got a response instantly and less than 30 minutes Eli, the owner, was at our business. Our heat had gone out a few days prior during the coldest days of the year and our management company had zone nothing.
