Tai Plumbing installed a new intake valve for the city water connection to our condo building. They…read moreobtained the City of Chicago permit for this work and coordinated a repair date that required our condo residents, Tai Plumbing and the City to agree on a time. During the permit process Jordan of Tai Plumbing kept us in formed on the status of the project. We had been advised that the process may require the water being turned off by the City for as much as 10 hours. In the end, because of great coordination and cooperation of all parties the project was completed in about 4 hours. In addition they priced their service at a very competitive rate. Because of MY scheduling conflicts, he was the LAST of three quotes I received. But as the saying goes.. "save the best for last". That statement couldn't me more true. I was lucky enough to watch him work and actually TEST what was going on BEFORE telling me how bad of a problem we had. The other two quotes I received saw the problem, tested nothing, and said they needed to excavate and because of that, the price was going to be way more. Their process was..."break the concrete, THEN rod the pipe to see if there's a clog", which would also be an all day job with a team. Andres insisted on rodding the pipe first, and that he'd be done in 20 minutes. He said IF that didn't work, (because he was going to test it again), THEN he would have to break open the concrete. I don't know about you, but that seems like a much more sensible option. He let me watch as he pulled all kinds of debris out of our kitchen stack drain. By the end, he had a nice sized pile, and water was flowing through there like Niagara Falls. He was done in 20 mins, as promised. Since he was there, I asked him if he had time to check our tenant's unit because they were having some drainage issues. He said he was trying to avoid rush hour, so why not? Lucky for us, he fixed another clogged drain, and a leaking pipe that we had no idea about! While we were talking, I asked him if he has a team he works with. His response: "No, I work alone because I don't trust other people to do good work and do it right". He also cleaned up after himself (you'd be surprised, but this is not always the case when people come work in your home), and I insisted on cleaning so he could leave, but he refused. He'll be back soon for some more work and I'm thankful to know we'll be in good hands. The world seriously needs more people like Andres. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Came out super fast. Plumbers are still excellent. Prices are still too high. $230 per hour…read more(minimum) plus if you need a sink rodded or something they charge another $20 to use the auger. Not sure if they charge to use wrenches and such. Maybe they charge by the tool? I wonder if it is more for a larger wrench? They didn't put on boot covers which is annoying but then again, I probably would have been charged for that.

I called for a basic Sloan valve repair. I told customer service this when I scheduled. Plumber…read moreshowed up took 15 minutes to tear the toilet apart. Left and was gone for over 2 hours getting part. Plumber told me there was a line to get the part. (This is standard part and should have had on the truck.) Returned and took about 40 minutes to put back together. Did not replace the shut off because it would require building to shut down. (He did not tell me that when he said the repair.) Charged for 3 + hour ($230 hr) of labor and parts. The toilet valve was still leaking!!! I called and complained. He came back and spent about 15 minutes working on it. P. S. Plumber told me that next time I have someone shut down the water they can finish replacing the entire valve. Additional Info: The shut off that I paid for and was not installed... wrong part and worthless. Over $100, I am going to try and return. DO NOT WORK WITH THIS COMPANY.
