Amazingly, we've never stopped here despite passing it many times. We were going by early on a Saturday so traffic wasn't too bad and we pulled in. They have a great selection of sandwiches. I was going to buy one but knew we'd find more things in Boston that we'd want to try. The woman who waited on us was super friendly. They have a variety of coffee flavors. We went with an iced white chocolate. The drink was cheap (cheaper than a Dunkin' iced actually) and came out very fast. I just wish it had tasted good. It was coffee flavor with no hint of the white chocolate even after we shook it up. Only at the end did we find a lot of syrup goo that was really strong and kind of meh. Left a bad taste. If I stopped in again I'd go with a non-syrup flavor for sure. read more

Interesting concept that appears to have a loyal fan base. They serve coffee, smoothies, assorted fruit, omelettes with home fries, salads, and smoothies. Everything was so fresh and tasted great. The Western omelette had chunks of chorizo and the coffee was robust and smooth. The woman who works the front was so polite and courteous. I absolutely love this place. While visiting my friends, they suggested this place for coffee and a breakfast sandwich. I decided to get their Vanilla chai with a shot of espresso. That's my go to morning comfort drink. Without a doubt the best I had. The Vanilla is pronounced but not overly sweet. The chai had a great balance of spices that complimented the vanilla well....and the espresso, was perfect. Not too much to over power the chai but it was full of rich silky notes that made me curious for the next sip. My breakfast sandwich was pretty amazing as well. Definitely got more than my moneys worth. I wanted to try everything after that. I can't wait to get back to MA to sample more. I did bring a small bag of their Brazilian coffee back. I go here for Saturday breakfasts at least once a month, and the people here are always so friendly. It's owned by a Brazilian family that roasts their own coffee beans, as well as serve a nice assortment of baked goods and brunch/lunch meals. I always get the Common Ground Eggs Benedict! They use applewood smoked bacon, and include their version of home fries and a small side of oranges and grapes. And of course, the coffee is great, too! We ended up sharing everything! The omelette came with home fries and a little assortment of fruit. We were stuffed and the food was well priced. My favorite part had to be the iced vanilla chai. Cross Street Market near my house in East Somerville carries Common Ground Cafe Do Brasil. It is a perfect blend of dark and smooth and when I brew it in the press, it comes out deliciously dark. I grew up on Cafe Bustello and Cafe El Aguila espresso, so I always need a coffee that packs a punch and a lot of flavor without tasting like dirt. I saw the reviews for the breakfast sandwiches and had to stop in. Folks were not joking; these sandwiches are HUGE and very tasty. Great price and well worth a slightly longer wait since they cook to fried eggs to order! Im not a coffee drinker, so I went for the hot chocolate. Went to this place based off the reviews on yelp. I really didn't think it was anything crazy. We got an everything bagel and a plain bagel with cream cheese and the bagels were good. The coffee was strong but I expected that. The reason they aren't getting many stars is the service. It was extremely slow and the lady kept forgetting orders. We placed our order but she forgot it so she ended up making the lady who placed her order after us, first. Also they didn't speak English very well except for the young girl. I have been to this place a few times in the past and always had a good experience. Today was the first time I have been in awhile and it looks like they renovated the place. I like the new look! The breakfast food here is SO good! They use real eggs, real cheese, real everything!! They also make things on demand so it comes out nice and hot. I got a breakfast sandwich on an english muffin and devoured it before I could take any pictures, but it was so good I couldn't help myself! The portion sizes are great too! The sandwich was pretty big and definitely satisfied my hunger. The coffee here is good too. They have brunch on the weekends and I am eager to go back and see what they offer on this menu. I have also tried their veggie wrap in the past and it was really good. Prices are also very affordable. The iced coffee was a little sweet, but that's my fault. If I am in this area again - I'll stop by. Only draw back is that it's so small and lots of people seem to like it here. I found this nice, little cafe about a week ago. I'm not really sure when it opened, but I drive but the area pretty frequently, and last week was the first time that I spotted it. Perhaps a sign would help, so people driving down RT 16 could spot it? Anyways, I'm always on the look out for small cafe spots like this, that provide some much needed change from the Dunks on every corner. They have all the hot & iced beverages that you would expect from a coffee shop. The added bonus are their breakfast sandwiches that are dirt cheap. Dare I say, too cheap? This place was right by our hotel and we walked over for a late lunch after arriving in town. The hotel staff recommended it to us, and it's such a cute place! Small, but a few tables to sit. The fee is surprisingly good for being what seems just like a small coffee shop. They have a nice selection of pastures, coffees, and other drinks. The tuna salad wrap was delicious! Their breakfast sandwiches are huge and once again, much better than Dunks. They have a huge drink menu. Oh but they put magic into their lunch sandwiches....mmhmm. They're open until 5 just in case I need another coffee to make it through the day. The staff is awesome. They know who you are and what you like and they're good for a conversation. I had to kill some time at 6am on a Saturday, and popped by here after reading the reviews. So glad I drove the extra 8 minutes instead of settling for Starbucks. Easily accessible and the coffee was quite good. They had a wide variety of flavors which I went with pumpkin. Pretty tasty stuff and the price was very, very fair. - I was actually shocked how inexpensive my coffee was! Wish I had an appetite, because their sandwiches looked very fresh. I had an early morning work event on a Saturday, I volunteered to bring coffee and breakfast in for the team. Our start time was before 7AM and I needed to pick up the order right at common grounds 6AM opening time to make it on time to the office. I called in the day before on short notice with a large order to be picked up first thing when they opened the next day. Not only was everything was ready and waiting for me me when I arrived, the quality of both the coffee and the breakfast sandwiches were outstanding. They even threw in an order of cheesy bread rolls that were fantastic. Common Ground did a fantastic job on short notice! Even the ordering process was great, I took their recommendation to order a few less sandwiches and have them cut in half. Great suggestion as the sandwiches were large and absolutely delicious. I had a delicious eggs Benedict and pretty good iced coffee and wanted to give this place more stars, but I can't. First they forgot about my food order and the woman had to come ask me what it was. Several parties that came in after me got their food before me. Not a big deal since I had planned on being there for a while anyways. The huge problem is I asked for soy milk in my coffee cause I am lactose intolerant and about halfway through my coffee I realized this was regular milk. I had to leave immediately and was pretty sick the rest of the day. I really want to give it more stars, cause it was a cute place, but being physically ill put a damper on it. read more

I very much enjoyed my hot Vanilla Chai and Grilled Chicken Panini, accompanied by the complimentary salad. My only issue dealt with the construction of the coffee cup. There was no stopper for the opening. For example, when walking or driving, the coffee would spill out-even with slow walking or driving. I would suggest to distribute a stopper of some sort to customers like the ones at Starbucks or have a cup with some type of strap tab over the opening, like at Dunkin Donuts. It makes life easier for a customer who is not stationary with the coffee to get from point A to point B, with a stopper of some sort. As I stated above, the coffee was excellent. The environment is clean and casual. The area doesn't seat that many people, but that's one of the elements I enjoy about this place. Their food options are delicious as well! It is a small shop so you would not expect the food to be so good but you will be happily surprised at the portion and the quality of the food.
