We ordered the South Philly Steak sub. Homemade seeded bun, Italian long hots, cheddar and provolone, garlic aioli, onions plus an order of fries. Pickup wait was about 25 minutes, which tracks since they're apparently TikTok famous now (the waitress confirmed this with a laugh). Worth planning ahead for. Got it home, opened it up. Looked great, but looks have fooled me before. Then I took a bite. Ribeye. Perfectly cooked, perfect cheese ratio, and the long hots gave it exactly the right kick. The bun alone could carry a lesser sandwich. Portion was genuinely generous too. My wife and I usually talk through a whole meal, we ate this thing in complete silence for 15 minutes. That's the review right there. Fries were the real deal as well. Long, crunchy outside, done right. They've been at this for 18 years and whoever put them in the spotlight did everyone a favor. Well deserved. Heads up: it's a small spot, so I'd recommend ordering ahead for pickup, and parking is mostly street, so give yourself a few extra minutes. Compliments to the chef. Got the South Philly Steak and Classic Italian last night, both on the homemade seeded rolls and they were fantastic. The team is generous with all the high quality ingredients, the price is so justified. Also, kept half the South Philly Steak for leftovers and it reheated beautifully the next day in the airfryer. But beyond that, it's a small unassuming place and the owner is a great guy. He has created a small business that makes you feel really good about supporting. He's doing great things for the community AND the subs are incredible. read more

I've gotten food from here in the past and thought it was fine and nothing to write home about. However, with the surge of popularity, I wanted to try it again. Everyone on social media is raving about it, so I decided to give them another shot. I've noticed that some bad reviews are related to service but still have positives about the food. For me, service was great and the food was even better. The first time I tried to order, I had everything set up in my cart and by the time I was ready, I was no longer able to submit my order, so I assumed it was too close to closing and I'd missed the window. Tried calling a few times and didn't get an answer, so I gave up. All good, that's on me. So when I tried again for a second time a week later, I made sure I ordered nice and early to ensure there were no issues. I was quoted 30 mins for a pizza and two subs. The shop had a few small tables to stop and eat, but it's clearly mostly take-out. The person taking orders at the front was efficient, sweet, and friendly. -Pizza Pasquale: This was delicious and might be the best pizza in Boston. I am in NY almost every month and while the pizza styles are different, I personally thought this was superior. The pizza had plenty of pepperoni and mushrooms with a fantastic crust and dough. Some doughs are bland, but this one was perfect and had the amazing balance of crunchy and soft. There was a short line, and the person at the front of the line was taking forever, so my pizza had been sitting in the warmer for at least a few minutes, and then it took me 10-15 minutes to get home, but the pizza was still incredibly tasty. I can only imagine the texture and taste if the pizza was eaten right away. My only complaint is that there were whole basil leaves on the pizza so getting basil in every bite wasn't totally possible. Having the leaves torn up would've been nice since the basil really adds a great flavor to the pizza, but all in all, I'm looking forward to more pizzas from this place. -Paisano Sandwich: This was also very tasty. The seeded roll was very good, the chicken cutlets were crispy, well seasoned and plentiful, and the sandwich was also very balanced. There wasn't a ton of prosciutto though, the tomatoes were chopped, so they were kind of lost in the sandwich, and I didn't taste much balsamic, but even so, it was still a good sandwich. -Steak and Cheese: Also fantastic. Also selected the seeded roll. The sandwich had a good amount of steak which was very well covered in melty, gooey cheese. It was so so good and the steak seemed like good quality to me. Not much to say; it was incredibly well executed and delivered exactly what we were looking for. The hype is definitely real. read more

I really want to like this place, I honestly do. Their pizza is good, and the chicken parm is solid. Unfortunately, the steak and cheese is a hard pass. I ordered the South Philly steak. They were out of long hots, which isn't a huge deal, but seems would be a major part of the flavor profile. It comes with a garlic aioli, which I'd strongly recommend skipping. It's extremely heavy on the aioli with very little garlic flavor, and the added provolone actually takes away from the overall taste rather than enhancing it. The real issue, though--the nail in the coffin--was the steak itself, which is obviously the most important part. It's advertised as being shaved fresh on site, but the trimming and consistency need serious work. I ended up throwing away more than half the sandwich. Even picking through the meat, a large portion consisted of thick, roughly 1/8-inch thick slices full of gristle (see picture) that were impossible to chew. That's not what I expect from a $19 cheesesteak. I'd expect that quality from a Market Basket sandwich, not from a place like this, and that was genuinely disappointing. As a side note, the house-baked sesame roll is a nice touch, but it really should be toasted. As served, it was overly soft and heavier than a typical sub roll. Two stars solely based on the cheesesteak. It's not a one-star review only because the pizza and chicken cutlets are still good here. read more

So...I saw recently an instagram review of the establishment touting their food. Upon checking it out and trying their Cheesesteak sandwich-I am convinced it was the best cheesesteak I've had in my 50 years. My order: Cheesesteak with long hots, grilled onions, seeded bun, garlic mayo. It's a tiny place up front, vast majority of their orders leave the shop to be eaten off site, but service was quick and efficient, though the sheer volume of orders had introduced a small delay in getting the sandwich-the wait was worth it. I ate my sandwich in the little "park" in front of the library across the street. Full five stars on the sandwich-it was a 25 minute drive off my route to get there and will be doing it again. read more

First time visiting the Square Deli. It will not be my last. We ordered a pepperoni pizza with hots and all I can say is it was the best pie north of New Haven I have ever had. Absolute perfection. The photo says it all ... the ingredients were world class, preparation was masterful, and the char was epic! Ai states they are closed and only do take out orders, however, they are open till 8pm. We walked in at 2:30, just beating the lunch rush! We chatted with the wonderful lady at the register who filled us in on the specialties of the square deli. They are known for their steak sandwiches, the seeded roll, and the pizza. Steak bomb on a seeded roll was worth all of the hype! The steak had so much flavor and the cheese drives it home. Just the right amount of steak, great texture, it's like taking a bite of heaven. We heard locals ordering with lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles so those options are endless here. Pasquale pizza so fresh with those cupped pepperoni, sour dough crust, and roasted garlic. The perfection of char right out of the oven and the fresh basil gives it a refreshing finish. It came out piping hot and had that New York style sag in the middle. It's one of those slices you need to fold when it's hot. The sauce was plentiful as it left a smile on your lips at the end of each bite. Italian on a seeded roll was very good, quality meats and chopped pickles, tomatoes, onions, lettuce and cherry peppers with oil and vinegar. It was tough to keep all of it with the meat as you bit into it, but it was pretty easy to scoop it back up with the sandwich. As we were enjoying our sandwiches the owner was there to make sure everything was good and engaged in conversation with us and other patrons about how he does things and we discussed other worthy restaurants in the area. I love the pizza. It's excellent. One of the best in Boston. I have sent many people in this direction. Small and a couple of tables. But in this day I went off script. I ordered the steak and cheese sub. It was on the board as a special. I was taking it to go. Bad move. Right from the first bite it was a huge sliced hunk of fat covered in cheese. Unfortunately it was the same all the way through. $14 down the tubes. I don't know what happened because everything I had here to this point, had been of the highest quality. Wow. Just wow. After getting pies from here over the years, I've gotta say, THIS is the best place for a pizza in the Boston area in my book. I've ordered their cheese pizza ("Our Cheese" in the online menu) for pickup on several occasions, and it always hits the spot. The tomato and basil combo is fantastically done in particular. I can't even wait until I'm home to eat - I usually wolf down a slice right then and there once I get into the car. The shop itself is also easy to get in and out of for pickups (they've got an insulated rack near the door itself), and it feels like your classic neighborhood pizza spot atmosphere. The pizza is an obvious labor of love and well worth your time. The ingredients are top notch and very worthy of all the accolades received. Also a very friendly patron offered me a slice of pizza and I got to try that too and it was SO good, definitely coming back for that next time. Oh my God I saw it on TikTok. It looks so amazing. I had to try it. I go in I order in Italian with American cheese everything on it seasoning and red wine vinegar I get charged $21. I almost had a heart attack. I said oh no I just ordered one sub they like yeah that's for one sub a cheese pizza is like $23 help by this point I had already said you know OK I'm standing there like baffled that I paid $21 for this up so it must be huge. I get the sub average size sub I get home. I open it up. I would have so disgusted with anything had zero taste. They never put no red wine vinegar the pickles that they use remind me of like bread and butter pickles do yourself a favor if you want a real Italian sub, don't go to that place because you will not be impressed I wanted to wrap it back up drive all the way back and tell them give me my $21 back and go to the north end or Eastboston Meridian Market and get a real Italian sub. Not sure what is up with this place, have heard good things but just not happening for me. First time there in November was 12:30 on a Wed. ordered a cheese pizza and chicken parm sub, lady behind the counter said 25-30 minutes, ok half hour comes and not ready, lady tells me 10 minutes, ok..... 10 minutes comes and no food still, meanwhile have to get back to working at 45 minutes ask where is my order, tells me the chicken parm sub is ready and has been sitting in the warming oven, still no pizza Why she did not tell me the sub was ready is beyond me, I could have eaten it I cancel the pizza as I have to go, eat the sub while driving but it has been sitting in the warming oven for a bit and is a little soggy. it was ok 2nd time stop there on a Tuesday afternoon this month they are closed, 3rd time stopped in for a steak and cheese this month and they are out of steak Figured I would give them another chance, things happen. not sure what is going on here, all these great reviews and my experience has not been good. My name is Kim. I came from Revere to try out the spot I came on March 10 about 115. Chris waited on me the owner. I know it was him because I saw him on what did you eat today, sir I got the large cheese the steak and cheese on the seeded roll with the long hots and the cheddar the chicken cutlet with the broccoli, Rob and the banana peppers. It was worth every penny much like $62 I would pay that again and again and again the food was phenomenal. The pizza was crispy. I didn't even have to say well done which is how I like it. It had tons of flavor with the sauce and the grated cheese and the fresh basil the steak and cheese the long hots I've been cooking long, hots forever and I've never seen them used anywhere to have them one that sub with that cheddar cheese unbelievable and the chicken cutlet with the Robbie unbelievable as well definitely go back again read more

Ordering is problematic and so is dealing with Broadway, BUT the food is so worth it. Sometimes there is online ordering, sometimes phone ordering, sometimes neither and you just have to show up. They sell out all the time. The woman behind the counter is no nonsense and she's awesome and efficient. The sign says "please be ready to order at the register" and that's how it should be. Nothing more annoying than people who stand in line and then waste other people's time at the register. Opened at 12. I walked in at 12:01 and was third in line. Two minutes later the line was out the door and down the sidewalk. The pizza is perfect in every way. Thin, crispy. The good cupped pepperoni. The homemade seeded rolls are top tier. Happened upon the Square Deli when a friend were in Chelsea for a medical test. OMGOODNESS. It was amazing. The menu was huge and so were the sandwiches. We had a Reuben and Paisano with lotsa fresh ingredients including yummy fresh bread. Served with homemade chips and pickles. Enough for 2 meals or to split if we agreed on the sandwich, lol. The owner was SO nice and friendly and accommodating. We opted for take out containers for another meal and the chocolate chip (homemade & huge) again with a great balance of soft in the middle and crispy on edges. They have been working on their cookies for a while, so they say, I think it's by far the best cookie I have ever had! hopefully don't have to go back for medical tests but would definitely field trip for their pizza next which has won many awards. read more

I have tried to order from here 2 days in a row, and both days, they fail to answer the phone and their online ordering system is faulty. The hours on the website change every 5 minutes. One second, it's marked that they're open 12pm-5pm, then it says "closed 6pm - 6:45pm" and now it's telling me that the establishment is closed entirely on Thursdays. A decade ago I moved to Boston from New York, it was really hard to find great pizza in these parts. With the exception of one or two places, pretty much all pizza I encountered was way below standard. Especially Greek pizzerias. Good lord. So anytime I find a pizza place that is legitimately good, it's a highly coveted find. I ordered delivery from Square Deli and my pizza was absolutely fantastic. In fact, it was one of the best first bites I've had of any pizza ... anywhere. Including New Haven (though it's not the same style). it was perfectly thin and crispy without being overcooked, an incredibly flavorful sauce, and didn't flop over much with the soppressata ingredients weighing it down. The Square Deli has been me and my family go to spot since the owner Chris opened. His sandwiches were always phenomenal, but his pizza is now our hands down one of the best pizzas I have ever had. It's me and my family go to for pizza night. You can tell how much care goes into making his pizzas if you're looking for a new spot in the Everett area I highly highly recommend going in and grabbing some pizza. I had no idea about this place and I live around the corner! My daughter and her husband who live about 15 miles away saw it on social media . I brought food from there today and it sure didn't disappoint. The three of us thought it was so good. I've only been coming here recently with their semi new release in pizza. Cheese or pepperoni? Either or please! Not your average delis pizza. It is hand tossed and has a thin crust. The sauce is made with San Marzano tomatoes which is key to making a great sauce. They use fine ingredients and you can just tell after your first bite. I feel like I'm at a specialty pizza joint, but I'm at the square deli and we've gone back numerous times. Yesterday was our most recent visit. We opted for subs as that's their original specialty. I had my first meatball sub and my boyfriend has the Italian. Both were amazingly delicious. The one thing I could possibly recommend for the meatball sub is maybe using a baguette to get a better crunch, as the roll got quite soggy by the time we got home. read more
