Vanilla Matcha latte and breakfast burrito
    Brianna B.

Food was pretty decent I got a breakfast burrito about 7/10 I wasn't too sure what was inside but it was pretty tastey with spicy sauce. Service was great everyone was nice and they brought the food and drink directly to you!! Overall cozy ambiance, it was a little crowded but people were moving in and out pretty well so everyone was able to sit and enjoy their drinks if they wanted. I studied and did some work for a few hours at the long center table and had a great time, would definitely come back !

cappuccino and an almond cinnamon latte

I stopped by here earlier today with my wife for our morning coffees. Every Sunday morning we try to hit up a new coffee shop and on this day we decided to try this location of Commonplace Coffee. It's located right on Penn Ave in Garfield and was pretty sleepy on this morning. The inside consists of a coffee bar with a display case for some of their branded merchandise as well as a cloche with their pastries. Beyond that they had a couple of tables worth of seating and some interesting art on their walls. There were two baristas working on this morning and I ended up ordering a cappuccino for myself and the one of their seasonal lattes, an almond cinnamon one, for my wife. In addition to that we also got a croissant to munch on. I first tried the croissant. The flavor of it was good but it felt a little dense and probably could have used a bit of a warm up to give it a little better texture. After that I tried my wife's latte and really enjoyed it, especially the almond forward flavor of it with the hint of cinnamon at the end. She really loved it too. Then last but certainly not least I was able to try my cappucino. The coffee flavor was strong in it which I appreciated and then I also got some of the whole milk flavor which was nice. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. While the croissant wasn't the best, both of our coffee drinks were definitely good.

A great coffee shop with a hipster vibe! I decided to go for a hot chocolate. I came by to study here on a Sunday afternoon. There were a bunch of other students with the same idea, but luckily I was able to snag a small table. Pros: + free wifi + multiple outlets available + reasonable prices Cons: - limited seating - a little noisy

They have great lattes and snacks like scones and raspberry sticky buns. The staff there is extremely friendly. A good place to study and get work done

I come here at least once or twice every week. I only have good reasons to advocate for this place: 1) usually it's not very crowded or noisy, so you can work well with needing headphones 2) there's so much light 3) (every) coffee is good. Try their v60, the Cortado, the dripped coffee. You will love it. 4) waiters are fun and kind 5) the crowd does not change much, so you might end up recognizing the customers Try it!

This coffee shop is great! The atmosphere here is perfect for studying. Most people are doing work, and the people that's chatting keep the volume fairly low. I love coming here. I always get one of their pastries and tea when I come. My favorite one is the lemon ricotta muffin, it is so moist and flavorful. The staff here are so friendly as well. I highly recommend this place!

always been a fan of the commonplace's, and this location definitely did not disappoint. compared to the one in Squirrel Hill, the amount of lighting and seating is so much better: way more natural light from the big windows and many more seating options! I got the cappuccino and it was basically the same taste as the other location. the service here seems even friendlier than the other location which was a nice surprise. I will definitely be coming back to this location to study or hang out in the future!! I also saw from previous photos that they have been changing different bits of the interior (supporting local artists!), so I can't wait to see how it'll be different next time I visit! tldr; drinks 4.5/5 service 5/5 timeliness 5/5 interior 5/5

Such a fun, hands on experience getting to see Kyle in action and the amount of hard work that goes into every order. I loved hearing his stories about his childhood and his family influences. Kyle is only 31 and has owned his business for over 7 years! That's impressive. You can really see the passion behind his baking. He works incredibly hard and even sacrifices a lot of his social life to keep growing his business, perfecting his craft, and supporting his community. This shop is part of a larger chain but currently appears to be the only location in the Pittsburgh area. It's located in East Liberty and is really more of a bakery than a coffee shop. The inside is split about 50/50, with half dedicated to seating and the other half serving as a self-serve bakery. You grab a tray and tongs before walking around selecting whichever baked goods catch your eye. They also have display cases filled with cakes and other pastries that need to be kept refrigerated. For my coffee on this morning I went with a 16 oz hot honey lavender macchiato while my wife chose a 16 oz iced tiramisu latte. I have to admit that the name of my drink confused me a bit at first, but it ended up being a latte macchiato as expected. With that being said, I thought it was quite good. The lavender was light enough to be noticeable without overpowering the drink, while the honey added just the right amount of sweetness. The espresso was also present, especially on the finish, where it added both flavor and body. My wife also enjoyed her latte and appreciated the tiramisu flavors throughout. Outside of the coffee, we ordered a number of pastries. My wife chose the Crookie, which is a cookie baked on top of a croissant. My son picked out a chocolate-covered Belgian waffle, while my daughter chose the strawberry soft bread. All of them enjoyed what they ordered, and I think my wife especially loved the Crookie. As for me, I went a little overboard and chose a garlic and cheese croissant, a curry croquette, pork-dusted bread, and a sweet taro cream bread. All of them were delicious in their own way. The garlic and cheese croissant was a nice savory option, with plenty of garlic flavor and a crispy cheese crust. The curry croquette had wonderful warming spices that made it especially flavorful. The pork-dusted bread was definitely the most unusual item. The pork topping reminded me of Wild Bill's Beef Jerky, and somehow those savory flavors worked really well on top of the crunchy laminated bread. Last but certainly not least was the taro cream bread. I was impressed by how light it felt despite being packed with an impressive amount of cream filling. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I'm a sucker for bakeries like this and clearly ordered far more than my waistline needed, but everything I tried was enjoyable. While the coffee was good, the pastries are the real reason to visit, with the coffee serving as an excellent complement.

Few tables line the walls, but if you're lucky enough, you can claim one right before the lunch rush, when PNC employees raid the place and the soup sells out. It's particularly loving and feels like home. There is free Wi-Fi, and no better place to get work done while enjoying lunch Downtown. My only complaint: be sure to say whether it's for here or to go when checking out. According to an employee, a small paper cup holds more coffee than a small ceramic cup. But coffee tastes much better in ceramic; I hate when it's mistakenly poured into paper.
