Commspeed is synonymous with a swear word in my household. I was forced to use them for three long years because no one offered cable internet service to my somewhat rural area. The speed itself was appalling, forget watching Netflix or Hulu. It would only stream for a couple of seconds before it would stall and have to be restarted. Extremely frustrating. My iMac was constantly dropped, if I left it idle while I went to get a glass of water when I came back I would have to restart the internet connection. The slightest breeze would knock the connection out entirely, to say nothing of any actual inclement weather. The service constantly went down because of problems with "up-line providers" and "towers". Commspeed technical support claimed the problem was on my end for awhile, so I power cycled my modem and router countless times, moved the router, my Playstation, Wii and DVD player higher, lower, here, there and everywhere in an effort to catch the "optimal" signal. I replaced my router twice. They finally came out and mumbled about this and that problem for two hours while rummaging under my desk with, again, no lasting improvement. Worst internet service EVER! $60/month for speeds that NEVER exceed 3 mbps!! We have called & called & called & called! They've come out twice to reposition our little "dish thing" (which was their answer to our crappy reception to begin with), and we might see a mild improvement for a few days, then instant crap! We turned off satellite, cable & the works, because the expense was simply too much. The only TV we watch is Hulu, Netflix or Amazon Prime. I also work from home & need reliable internet to do that. Yup, it's a big fat joke! And, of course, when you NEED support, it doesn't exist! So, in the evenings, when you can COUNT on it going out from 6-10 pm nightly, and all day on the weekends (because, of course, everyone is home & the towers are overloaded), there is absolutely NO tech support! In fact, when we called to inform them that we are switching to another company, they laughed at my husband & said that we'll never see more than 30 Mbps. Well, 30 Mbps would be BLAZING fast compared to CommSpeed!! Or, should I say, SlowSpeed. It's not worth it! Run. Screaming! My install isn't until next week, but here's why I don't pay much attention to those here who rate Commspeed poorly. Your experience totally depends upon how far you are from their tower and if you're truly line of sight or not. I will be 16 miles away but clearly line of sight. When the installer arrives, it won't take long to determine if my location will work or not. If it doesn't, I owe them nothing. I even have 10 days thereafter to walk away from the first month if it doesn't work out. So I have nothing to lose. But I need to try something to get away from my horrible and slow CenturyLink DSL. Update Apr 28, 2015: CommSpeed was recently bought out by a much larger company, SpeedConnect. The transition hasn't been without problems. I have suffered through two long outages and no/slow connectivity at other times. I hope this is just a reflection of growing pains for SpeedConnect. For those of us who are very rural like I am, we just have to keep our fingers crossed that SpeedConnect reliability will improve. read more

DO NOT do business with Commspeed aka SpeedConnect. The service is lousy!! Not only can you not stream because it is sooooo slow, weeks out of the month there is not service what so ever and no one available on weekends to help. I put up with their poor service way too long. Buyer beware. I called to cancel my poor service the beginning of the month because I finally was fed up and they kept the entire month. Anyone who says this service is any good is a paid hack. I saw the review that said it depends on how far you are from their tower. Well we are less than one mile away and the speed is terrible . Try .25mps. Yea that's right, up there with Dial-up modem speed for those old enough to remember. Have had 4 techs at the house on several instances, they come out, reboot the modem (as they had me do a hundred times) with no increase in speed. Even corresponded with the CEO. His contact information was given to me by one of their call center guys, who was likewise frustrated with having to take heat from several customers like me who are spending $60\mo for this crap service. To his credit the CEO actually did call me. He assured me that they were committed to 5+g service within the next year. That was almost exactly one year ago. Same crap speed, no credit to the account for shitty service. These guys are the worst in a field of incredibly poor ISP's. just beware. read more

If you live in a rural area, this is the best you will get. If you understand broadband internet, you'll also understand that reviews like the one from Tamara K are uninformed. Complaining about 3mbps service is silly. That's the speed the advertise and you agree to take. They also have a generous data policy. Don't like their policy? Try Hughes Net. You get 3 mbps there too, but you only get 17gb download for the entire month. Versus 300gb with Commspeed. Hit that 17gb and you are hit with a FAP - meaning dial up speeds for a few weeks. Oh, and you have a two year contract and you have to pay for the equipment and install with Hughes Net. If you're like Danielle D, and want to stream TV, have the foresight to dial back your resolution in Netflix and Hulu. Rather than try to stream HD quality, turn it to SD. Yes, the picture is not as sharp, but, you'll be using about 1/10th of the data. I'd bet dollars to donuts that Danielle D doesn't know how to change the resolution of her streaming and that is 100% of her problem. I've had Commspeed for two years and it works just fine, considering my location. If you want better internet, there is one very simple thing you can do to get it: Move. If you want internet and the rural lifestyle, Commspeed is it. read more

I just moved to Cordes Lakes AZ. I had a hard time finding a company to hook up internet service. My neighbor, Dan, referred me to Commspeed. I talked to Brent and was pleasantly surprised by some of the best customer service I used to enjoy in bygone years. Not only that, Commspeed is one of the few companies that doesn't jerk you around like Direct T V or Dish. My monthly charge will be the same next year as it was when I signed up. No gimmicks, no pay this amount for six or 12 months then have the price jacked up. Also, one of the best aspects of this company, NO CONTRACTS!! I can cancel my service whenever I want without penalties. And as if that isn't enough good news, they also offer a ten day, money back satisfaction guarantee! Now I haven't had the service hooked up so I don't know if I will like it. But the fact that I'm not locked into a two year contract that charges me a pocketload of money if I happen to get down on my luck. That's what I call the American way,and so I name Commspeed and their employees, Patriots! Oh one last detail. They are rewarding my neighbor $50.00 for the referral! read more

I hate having to listen to 'Tomorrow's internet today' when I call them. ROFL..it would be the end of the world as we know it if that was true! Worst service I ever had. Feel completely ripped off. Around 5 every day service goes down, too many people using the internet. Same goes for the weekend, halts to a crawl. I am paying $ 60, yet only have access 50% of the time. I should not be paying more than $ 30. They should feel embarrassed every time they charge their customers, but they don't seem to have a problem with it. In my area there is no other choice, been stuck with them for years. Too many promises since they became speedconnect - nothing has improved, and I doubt it will. We need some healthy competition in Northern Arizona, so that these criminals will be driven out of town! They simply suck. read more
