This is my favorite BBQ place in the metroplex. Everything is fantastic. Nice laid back atmosphere.

My wife hosted an event at home last week and lunch was part of it. I picked up a few pounds of brisket, turkey, and sausage. It was absolutely perfect -- all of it. It's a challenge to keep turkey from drying out but they did it and did it well. I highly recommend this place. These people know their BBQ. read more

Let's give them a chance as they are so new.. BUT... sliced brisket plate with two sides... 6 oz brisket {moist) was OK but didn't have that deep smoked flavor. The only way I can describe it is a "superficial smoke." It was also cut with the grain, quite a no-no. Sides are way too small. Three medium sized onion rings and 3-4 tablespoons of mac and cheese. Needs to be doubled. Almost went through Whataburger on the way home. read more

Had the brisket sandwich with Mac and cheese and beans. Brisket was delicious, tender and nice smoke flavor, beans were incredible, Mac and cheese was good, but for some reason wasn't hot when served. Only real issue I have is the BBQ sauce had no kick, which for me is a set back. Overall it was a great experience. this place has amazing food! The ribs in the brisket are incredible. I also enjoyed the jalapeño poppers. Just went in for the first time and ordered 2 LOADED baked potatoes for dinner for my wife and I. I spoke to a young man named Brandon and he asked if I wanted to add bacon bits. I replied yes and off he went. I was charged $6.00 for the potatoes and $2.00 for the bacon bits. When I get home, I discover there is NO meat on the potatoes. Per potato I received small containers of sour cream, shredded cheese, bacon bits and chives. NO MEAT and NO BUTTER. Nobody asked me anything about meat. I am very disappointed and still hungry. Tried community bbq for the first time today. Greates promptly and warmly and shown to a table. At recommendation of our server we Started with the meat sampler to get an idea of their offerings. From there we ordered entrees. I got a brisket sandwich with beans and potato salad. Wife got pulled pork sandwich with corn and mashed potatoes. Both were awesome. The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was that yelp only does whole stars and all side items had a lot more pepper than I prefer. I realize this is a very personal preference. Of special note. RJ was our waiter and he was wonderfully attentive, clearly knows the menu and has tasted everything on the menu and he was able to make good suggestions and was just a delight to be around. Everything about Community BBQ is amazing. Customers can donate meals and $ for those who can't afford meals. The brisket is full of smoky flavor and moist and tender. It doesn't need sauce. Sausage was ok, kind of bland flavor, but a perfect combination when paired with the sweet/peppery sauce. The beans were delicious with a sweet, smoky flavor. Potato salad and cole slaw had a rich, creamy flavor with lots of mayonnaise. The macaroni and cheese was cheesy and had a full portion of sliced brisket. The rolls were light and tasty and bread and butter pickles tasted home made. Top it off, if you dare, with a delicious dessert and your mouth will be super happy and your stomachs super full. Staff were very personable and professional. Prices were in line with other popular BBQ restaurants. read more

Always excited to have a new restaurant open in our area. Sachse is small so our choices are very limited. Mostly fast food chains and very few locally owned "Community" Resturant's. I Made my first visit To Community BBQ & Grill this week. I found the staff exceptionally friendly and attentive to making the dining experience pleasant. The food was average. Not anything spectacular. Since Texas is known for great BBQ I was excepting something unique or special as the prices are definitely on the HIGH side. A two meat plate with standard size portions was $16.00; I was very disappointed with the ambiance of the dining room. Very dark and dreary. The lighting is horrible and just not a cheerful environment. I did note they were working on a large community style gathering room and maybe their just not 100% ready for prime time. I will say the service was fast and as mentioned very attentive. My hope is they will morph over time into a GREAT BBQ spot for the area. I'll definitely return to see how things progress after they've been open a while. read more

We've gone once. Ribs and brisket were good, not great. BBQ sauce was thick and glue like and had a thick skin on top as if it had been left out and uncovered for hours.......and about 2 tbs of it. Beans had a good flavor, but were thick and dry. Okra and onion rings served cold.....sent those back. Came back very hot like they should be. Slaw was good. Rolls were hard and dry. No butter, onions, pickles, or peppers were available like at most BBQ places. I want them to be successful, but they will have to step up their game quite a bit. No excuse for serving cold food, even if you are new. Restaurant is nice, but that will only get you so far. read more

I've been here twice now and have had great experiences both times. I'm not even a fan of BBQ, but love the food here. The service is great, it's very welcoming here, and the whole vibe here is very family-friendly and laid back. Everyone who works here is very genuine and polite. The food is excellent as well. Just had to tell you that we ordered the catfish & of course some brisket yesterday. This was the 1st time for catfish...we believe CBG will now get our catfish as well as BBQ business! Congrats on this new menu item! I hope others like it as well so it will stay on the menu. read more

Great service and atmosphere. Not that it is a bag thing, but the Christian music was just a little off setting. We weren't expecting that in a BBQ restaurant. The food quality was great. Everything was delicious. I like that they even give you an option on your brisket, if you want more fat or more meat basically. You can tell that the meat is actually slow smoked. The BBQ sauce is good too which is important! Plus they bring you all kinds of fixins like onions and pickles. The one negative is that we thought it is a little over priced for the amount of food you get. We would have liked to see larger portions especially for what they charge. We love the Community Buck program, where you can put money towards a free meal for someone who needs it. They just put them by the front door so anyone can come in and use them, no questions asked. Overall, great experience and we will definitely be back. read more

Went to Community BBQ today to have their Saturday Lunch Special which is listed on their website as "The Know-Be-Do Hoagie Special". I was told that apparent THEIR website has the wrong sandwich listed but, I could order the sandwich at the full price. NO, you need to honor what you advertise. Tried for the first time. Service was very slow even though they weren't busy. Food isn't that great....BBQ was dry, coleslaw didn't have much flavor, and the mac'n'cheese wasn't good at all.....tasted frozen/store-bought. Way overpriced for the quality and quantity of food provided. Had higher hopes for this place since it's close to where I live and I like to support local businesses. read more

In my family the birthday person always gets to choose the place for their birthday dinner so my grandson chose Community BBQ for his 14th birthday celebration. We went there on Sunday (July 11th) for a late lunch/early dinner. I want to share a recap of our experience. We never know how many are going to show so we didn't make reservations...but we met at 2 pm so figured it wouldn't be a problem. There ended up being 8 of us & it was not a problem at all. We were promptly greeted and was sat within minutes. I had only been there once before & thought the food & service was great but I was leery because I thought it was a bit pricey (almost $50 for 2 people for lunch---including tip). But our experience on Sunday showed me that it's definitely worth the price. Food & service was excellent! But the highlight of the meal was the smores the birthday boy got for dessert. You make your own at the table so it gives off vibes of being at a campfire. Our family eats out a lot & we never know what kind of experience we're going to have. Sometimes there's only 2 of us & sometimes (especially on birthdays) there are 20 of us. We've had good & bad experiences at many restaurants in the Dallas area. But this is the first restaurant that I feel was absolutely perfect! Service was friendly & efficient. Food arrived in a timely manner (actually quicker than I was expecting) & everybody's order was correct. Background music was excellent but not so overpowering that you couldn't have a conversation. The waitress was on top of drink refills and was right there with to go boxes when we were done. But she was not intrusive in any way. And everybody's food was excellent. I was in the restaurant business for most of my life until I retired (bartended, waited tables, managed, & even owned a restaurant for 3 years) and I have to say that this was probably the best dining experience I've had. But I do have 2 complaints----1. I don't think you should have to pay for a side with a sandwich and 2. I wish this place was open more than just 4 days a week. read more

Community barbecue and grill hit it out of the ballpark today! We had a very large party and they were able to serve us way more quickly than we could have asked for. The owner and pitmaster, Charlie outdid himself today! People loved his ribs, brisket, pulled pork, beans, mac & cheese and the homemade banana pudding and chocolate cinnamon cake were awesome! The kids loved chalking on the massive boards, and they loved making their own Smore's at their table! We even had live music! The feel of the restaurant was awesome and the service and quality of food was fantastic! Don't miss out on making this your BBQ place! read more

Got the 3 meat plate with ribs, sausage and Brisket. Sides ... Slaw and baked beans. Garage food at an expensive price. I would have rather ate a Arby's brisket sandwich and that's really bad. Waited 25 mins on table in corner of restaurant and found there were 5-6 tables open with no reasoning as to why we waited for so long. Menu is over priced with $14 for a sandwich and 2 small sides, food was bland and the meats made 3 of 4 in my group sick the same night. Needless to say I won't be back and I'm disappointed that the place was like this being so close by. read more

This place won't last a month unless they get their act together. First off, when we arrived, we were told it would be a 15 to 20 minute wait which is fine except that there were several empty tables and they weren't seating anyone. Then, after we ordered, it was a long wait for the food to be served. Now this is BBQ so the only things that had to be cooked to order was onion rings which were over cooked and fried okra. We ordered 3 different plates, pork ribs, BBQ chicken, and sliced brisket. On the good side, the ribs were excellent. Good smoke ring, a nice peppery dry rub, and a sweet glaze. No extra sauce needed. However, it all goes down hill from there. The chicken was badly over cooked and way too long on the smoker. It was dried out and tasted of creosote. For the brisket, we asked for moist and sliced. What was served was over cooked, dried out, and rubbery. The sides were ok, nothing special but were served in comically small bowls. I understand portion control but this was ridiculous. Then we had a long wait for the check. Not a promising start for a new restaurant. read more

Here on second night I guess. Excellent ribs, good brisket, chicken n sausage. Pudding n mud pie were good. Okra was good, think onion rings would have been good if not room temperature. But definitely chinchy w condiments. Had four meats and only got one lil sauce cup that had like three tablespoons of sauce in it. Had to ask for ketchup n was same w it. I thought the food portions were small too. My biggest turn off at a restaurant is when I get the feeling the owner is worried more about pennies n portions than the customer having what they need/paid for. Split this food w two teens: two deserts n three drinks,,,$38+tax+tip,,,I think I paid for some sauce n ketchup. And ice,,,way chinchy w ice too. Service was slow n got chicken instead of brisket, was how I wound up w four meats. But is their second night and I expected service hiccups. I came to Texas and wanted to have real Texas BBQ. I was staying in Wylie and looked up barbeque spots. I had 2 places to choose from. I called Community BBQ and spoke to Carrie. She was so friendly, I asked some questions and then she said I'll see in a little bit. I got there and was treated like I was family. We tried the sampler because we didn't know what to get. All of the meats were delicious especially with the BBQ sauce but we picked: brisket sliced, ribs, spicy sausage, ham, turkey, and smoked chicken. We ended up having brisket because we all voted it was the best. Our sides were: corn green beans mac&cheese potatoe salad & fried okra. All of our meals came with this delicious roll. The beer selection was great. Not only was the food superb but RJ Carrie and Charles were sooooo nice. Definitely a Southern hospitality experience! In California we have tri tip and that brisket was just as delicious!!! read more
