Never go here for lunch. Not only will they get your order incorrect multiple times... they will take so long to correct it that the other mender of your party will have finished their meal and had it cleared before you receive yours. The manager, when he comes over "to apologize" will not actually apologize. And when you mention the other person has finished their meal, they will ask, "oh do you want me to cancel your order then?" No, that's not what i was saying, thanks. And when he brought the correct food, he asked if i wanted a to go box, I said yes and then he never returned. Then the original server dropped the bill, picked it up, and returned the cc and receipts without so much as a word, no "thank you", no "I'm so sorry about all that". Nothing. Like, basically threw it at our table. I really didn't expect a taco salad post lunchtime (1:30pm-3pm) to avoid traffic would have ended up being such a big deal. But apparently it was too much for this Lupe Tortilla. Never a disappointment when we decide to go to Lupe Tortilla for a meal. Had a friend visiting from out of town and requested Tex-mex and I knew we needed to stop here-- pretty reliable that you'll get good food and great service. We stopped by around 11:30am and seated with no wait. There's plenty of seats inside and some seating outside, but with the heat we definitely wanted to be seated indoors. Immediately our server Alex stopped by with chips, salsa and their bean dip/sauce. The chips were crispy and the salsa and bean dip were both well seasoned. We tried the Lupe frittata (which was okay, needed more salt and flavor) and 1/2 pound mix of chicken and beef fajitas. The flour tortillas are huge (more like a size of a burrito wrap) but definitely delicious. The fixings with the fajita mix is always a large amount. Definitely enough food to take home leftovers. Been going to this location for over 20 years. Yesterday at 4:40pm a Rude hostess refused to seat us due to server shortage. There were only 5 tables occupied and 3 people at the bar. We went to this establishment for my mom's birthday. It was a party of 12 and we waited about an hour to be seated. During this time we got drinks from the bar. After we were seated and ordered, we waited over an hour and a half for our food. Once when we got our food, we were missing essentials such as tortillas for fajitas.By the time we got tortillas, the food was cold. I stepped aside from the table and asked a host, who was out of uniform and technically off shift and only came up to help because of the lack of staff, to talk to a manager. That person then told me it would be "a while " to talk to somebody. I then went back to my table and continued to try and enjoy the rest of the evening with my family. However, everyone was disappointed with the overall service, not the server, but the experience. My family spends a good amount of money on to-go orders and business with this location. So, for my mom to have her birthday there with extremely sub-par experience, is frustrating. After 25 minutes they took us inside. The table cleanliness average low. Then the man with the order (cannot call him a waiter) order the beer. Took 20 minutes to bring it. I guess between harvesting the barley, etc it might be right. The food actually areivet after 90 minutes from order. The handmade flour tortillas were huge, thin, and delicious. The veggies in the fajitas were well done, which is my preference. The meat was tender, flavorful, and tasty. If I could give zero stars that what they deserve. We had a reservation for 6:30 pm. Receive 2 notifications first one at 4 pm stating that " the table is ready". I am shocked by the ratings on here because I had the best experience at this location! It was our first time as we were visiting family who had just moved nearby. From the second we walked in, everyone was beyond friendly. The decor was fun, the place was clean, and there was just the right amount of noise for the atmosphere to feel good without making it too loud to hear each other. Our waitress, Kady, was beyond amazing. We had been at Nobu Houston a couple days prior, and she put their entire waitstaff to shame. She gave detailed answers to all our questions, had fantastic recommendations, was proactive in assessing needs for chip and drink refills, and personally checked each dish as it hit the table to make sure nothing was forgotten. Right after we placed our drink order, we were surprised with a plate of mini fajitas on the house. It was such a nice gesture, and a smart one -- they were amazing, and it totally changed up our ordering plans. Despite the complimentary salsas being full of flavor, we also got a queso compuesto, which totally exceeded expectations. The chips were so tasty - thin, crunchy, fresh, and full of flavor. We ordered the fajitas with steak, chicken, and shrimp, and with three people eating it we could barely make a dent. The steak was tender and perfectly cooked, the chicken was flavorful and far from dry, and the shrimp was equally delicious. The beans that came with it had more flavor than I've ever had in a basic side of beans, in the best way. One of us also ordered the tortilla soup, which was massive and a hit. For dessert, we had effectively dessert nachos - buñuelos with ice cream and drizzles of chocolate and caramel. The perfect dessert for sharing and the perfect end to the meal. Just got into in town for an industry conference that starts tomorrow. Lupe is a short walk from my hotel. The chips and salsa were great. One was bean and bacon based and the other was based on smoked or grilled tomatoes. For the entree went with the Lupe Chicken Tacos, which were excellent.
