I ordered this months special, The Fiesta Chicken burrito, w/rice and refried beans and also guacamole and sour cream! I also had unsweet tea served in a mason jar! The porutions are always big and everything is fresh made! The Fiesta Chicken burrito was large and wonderful! I also had some of gwuins strawberry bread pudding! So yummy! As usual i left with to-go box's! The wait staff is always bright, friendly and attentive! Locally owned and operated by a local vetren! Great food! Great place! Great people! I've eaten here only 3 times but each time left me absolutely stuffed and already "hungry" to return! Their food is classic country home style cooking with a splash of Mexican flavor here and there. I happened to be in this area getting work done on my car. The mechanic referred me to Los Compadres. First impressions: super clean and roomy. I ordered the chicken fried chicken with green beans and fried squash. The chicken was tender and the gravy could have used a little more pepper or maybe some garlic. The green beans were good and the squash (yellow squash not zucchini) was fried to perfection. I immediately ordered a second order of squash because it was so good. A couple of cons; the food could have used FLAVOR. The batter on the squash was bland. The portions were not huge, which is a good thing because you will be able to have room for the amazing deserts! I had coconut buttermilk pie! I will be in the area this weekend and I WILL be going back. I would give this review a 4.8, clean restaurant and VERY friendly service from all of the staff, the only ding is that the food is on the bland side. I will go back, though! It seems that the afternoon cook is way better than the morning cook. CFS was fried way too hard. When I had come for lunch the other day every thing was perfect! First time here, and regret I had not found this great restaurant sooner!!!, I ordered the Huevo Ranchero, with country potatoes. I have ordered this many times at other restaurants before and always disappointed in the sauce. Not here wow perfect, spicy and lots of flavor. However if you dont eat spicy food it might be to spicy for regular non eaters of pepers. Beans dont have bacon fat or lard great for vegetarians like me. And the tortillas yumm home made and a little crispy just like my homemade. Justin my server was on point, never ran out of coffee or water. Hes in college and works here on the weekends. Really, so very disappointed and I was hoping for so much more. We stopped in on a Saturday. I looked at the menu and couldn't find anything different than other places and I didn't want breakfast. It was packed though so they have a great following. I know they make their pies fresh and I love dessert so I ordered a piece of pie, I am not certain what it was. A chocolate/vanilla rum? The pie crust was really soggy and filling tasted really sour or off. I didn't finish my pie. My husband ordered the Tex Mex Enchilada, beans and rice. He took a few bites and asked me to taste the rice and beans. Not at all good. Really lacking in flavor and beans tasted off. He is Hispanic so we both know the difference. The owners I have heard are very nice people. I know they have a good following because of the reviews, although only few have been reviewing long according to postings. But that all changed when there was not only a Roach on the paper towel holder on our table but one on the wall where we pay.. Nice atmosphere. Very expensive for the quality. Orange juice very low quality but you get a huge glass. The hash browns were great. Eggs, pancakes and toast were ok. Bacon was low quality. Waitress was very nice. Would recommend they lower there prices or improve quality. They should have fresh squeezed orange juice. read more

I came in for a to go meal. The white male behind me received his food and was asked the nature of his service. I had another man that was supposedly giving me my to go order but stopped (foods getting cold now) to answer the phone and took another order. Now, by this time, the other waiter that originally ignored me to take the person behind me had helped two others while knowingly seeing I am waiting...so I feel that my money was not wanted and proceeded to leave. Once I turned my back to walk away..IMAGINE that, I was acknowledged?! I wondered why I didn't see any other ethnicity in that place when I first walked in and I see why now...just do me a favor next time.....just leave a sign that says " whites only" and I will know to go spend my money elsewhere. It disappoints me to the core that I have to assume this was the case because I even greeted everyone with an original smile and "how you doing"? I could have sworn it was 2021 but whatever miscommunication it was, I should have been acknowledged and greeted and treated as I would if they came to my business. I was always told don't ever WAIT to spend your money and I didn't hesitate to leave. Shame on this establishment but I am sure it will gain more business from "certain folk" just not me! read more

I've seen this little gem for a while and finally stopped in. Very clean and loved the Texas memorabilia. Luckily I got there early for breakfast as the place filled pretty quickly. The waitstaff was very attentive and helpful! The food was soooo good! Their breakfast tacos will keep me coming back! The Migas were very good as well with amazing homemade fresh flour tortillas....yum!! Amazing cooks!! They have a variety of hot sauces that were so good... yes I tried them all they do sell them as well as their jams/jellies. I will definitely go back to try more things!!! I really want to give this place more stars but I just can't. The chicken fried steak was really good as was the service, the negatives are the sides. Everything we had was from the freezer. The onion rings, fries, okra and the mac and cheese bites were exactly the ones they sell at restaurant supply places. If you are going to advertise good home cooking, then do that. Don't buy frozen crap and expect people to be happy. We aren't. Somethings I can understand but it doesn't take long to make fresh fries and onion rings. Step yo' game up! read more

The food was good. The stars is more for service. We had a large party, which I get can bring challenges for a smaller restaurant. Our initial waitress couldn't have been more snarky and rude about the entire situation. The sarcasm and underhanded tones in what she was saying were so unnecessary, I honestly didn't want to eat there anymore but stayed because everyone was already there. The waitress we ended up with when our large party was able to be moved to one large table (instead of the two separate tables) was very nice and attentive. I spoke with a couple of family members that mentioned the original waitress always has the same attitude any time they've ever been in there. The green beans tasted good but may have been sitting a while, not my favorite, but everything else was good. The steak was huge and had a crunchy breading. First of all, I don't think this place is in Conroe, is it? It's on Hanna Road. To me, it's Oak Ridge North, not Conroe. Anyway, I love this place. I think the food is very good. I love their enchiladas, especially. Their salsa is freshly made on the premises. They're a little stingy with the chips when you order the chips and salsa, BUT the fresh, delicious salsa more than makes up for it. I stop at a gas station on the way home and purchase a $2 bag of tortilla chips and the problem is solved. Trust me I'd take their awesome salsa any day over a trash bag full of free chips. And then their deserts, which are great. They seem to specialize in pies. The people who work there are great. It's a locally owned place and the owner is there a lot of the time, taking your order sometimes. The two waitresses who I see there a lot are both very friendly. The cook that I've met is a younger guy and extremely accommodating. Overall, a very pleasant group of people work there. A family member of mine swears by their breakfast, but I've never had their breakfast. I'm sure it's good, though. I feel this restaurant deserves more business. A lot of the times there aren't many people there, and I really hope they stay there and don't go out of business. I finally had a chance to stop by Compadre's for breakfast. They don't open until 8, so I can't go on a normal weekday. They have THE BEST breakfast tacos! They're huge; two of them had me full until mid-afternoon. The eggs were cooked just right, and the tortillas were perfect. They reminded me of Lupe Tortilla's tortillas to give you an idea of what they were like. Now I just have to see if the lunch is as good as the breakfast. read more

My husband and I have been dying to find a good breakfast spot, so we decided to try Compadre's. When we got there the place was completely packed, but they quickly cleaned off a table for us. I ordered the Huevos con Chorizo with ham & corn tortillas and my husband ordered the Country Breakfast. This was by far the best breakfast either of us had had in a long time, the eggs were cooked to perfection and the Huevos con Chorizo was authentic.
