I had the 3 tacos de pollo and birria quesadilla y consomme I went to the moon and back... yummmm!!! I like my quesadilla with a little crisp on the edges. This was a bit softer than I care for, but my bad, I forgot to ask for it to be extra toasted/well done. Oh and pair with your favorite brew or IPA... aaayyye, cheers to tha freakin' weekend! I stumbled upon Compas Tacos while hiking in the area and I am happy I did! Vibe: It's a typical strip center restaurant - nothing fancy, nothing special, but super clean which I appreciate in a restaurant. You order at the counter, and in my case, as it wasn't too busy, they brought my tacos out to me. Service: Super Friendly and Welcoming. Food: I should preface that I am a pescatarian, so I am always on the lookout for fish and shrimp tacos. I had one fish and one shrimp taco. The tacos were super plentiful and packed with protein! Two tacos were more than enough for me. Both the shrimp and fish were in a batter and fried, then topped with shredded cabbage, tomatoes, cilantro, and a sauce. The reason I gave this review a 4 was because of the batter. There was a flavor - black pepper and other seasonings that I personally didn't care for. Carne Assad Fries were so so good. The Asada is full of flavor. Really tender Good piece of meat. They put some sauces on top of the fries that add an extra bit of wonderfulness. The fries are crinkle but fries not those skinny fries that get all soggy. I think it was around $20 dollars but well worth it. I came super hungry and couldn't finish the fries in one sitting. Came very close but nice to have a little snack for later. I'd say one of the top ifnot the best fries I've had. After reading all of these 5 star reviews on Yelp and the G, we had to try this place. The place was well designed, clean and the staff what's nice. The food was better than average, and it felt safe but not packed full of flavor. Specifics: The Surf and turf burritos we decent, not overly packed with flavor and in all Fairness could have been more evenly spread out. 4.5 stars. The Al pastor was really boring, it had no flavor, not juice just kinda of boring 3 stars. The fish tacos were good, fresh and full of flavor. Seriously, this place is so great! Food is delicious! Customer service is AMAZING! They are so nice. My family had hired them to cater a gathering after my father's funeral service. You can tell a lot about a Mexican food spot based on their carne asada. Sometimes it tastes like ground beef. But these guys give you good traditional asada. This is the first time I had carne asada fries with chipotle sauce and it was definitely a star. Cucumber limeade has a perfect balance of sweetness and refreshing flavor. Perfect for a hot day like today. Not too sweet at all. And they even offered me a sample before locking in my decision. Service was great. They were helpful and were interested in any question we had. They treat their establishment with care and want you to love their food as much as they believe in it. There is a young man there and he has great customer service. Super helpful, respectful, and warm. If he is the future of this place, they are in good hands. My opinion is that places like Tacos El Gordo in SD and Vegas are overrated. Very basic and not worth the hype. So we saved our hunger for the following week and gave them a try. Absolutely delicious with large portions. Good value. The agua frescas were soo good too. We got a variety of tacos for the office. Shrimp, fish, chicken, asada. Everyone enjoyed the tacos. The chicken being the least favorite as it was commented that it didn't have as much flavor. Back in January 2022 we hired Compas for catering (sons birthday party) & the quality of meat was *chefs kiss*! We were so excited when we found out they opened up their location!
