We were looking for a place to eat, and thanks to Yelp, found this neighborhood gem after picking up our car from the Federal Circle AirTran stop. It was slightly tricky to get to, only because of the numerous constructions en route. We were greeted by friendly helpers, who happily made recommendations. I went with the bacon egg sandwich with whole wheat, which was tasty. My girl had the savory crepe with chicken, which was only ok for me due to the tuna sandwich-like taste and texture. The mocha with soy milk was good; didn't know about the extra $1 for soy milk until afterwards, but I'm fine with it. Free water was provided without resistance. The bill came out to a little under $10 for each of us. Free internet here with the password on the receipt. Untimed free street parking is easily available. Although the place was clean and festively decorated, it can only accommodate about a dozen people, and the bathroom is only a one-seater for all. Only when we were buying another snack to go did we realize that this cafe was run by a church. The workers are all volunteers, and all the tips go to missions such as providing clean water for needy neighborhoods. Awesome. I found this place last year; I was meeting with a client to go over some edits and needed a place that had outdoor seating. The first time I came here I was amazed that the café was in the neighborhood, we're accustomed to big box coffee spots and bodegas, but Compass Café is a very welcome space for me. It's my go-to for WFH, and now that they're open to indoor seating (with distancing!) I can come in and work for a few hours. It's beautifully decorated on the outside and in, the employees are super pleasant, and the coffee and food items are amazing. read more

This establishment is cool... I stopped by today, on my way to go study. I've been trying to grab a cup of coffee from here for a while now, but every time I went, they were closed. The barista told me they are closed on Sundays. That's cool to know they keep their religion first. Aside from that, the coffee was cool. A large French Vanilla ran me about $3.45... It's a nice place to catch up with a friend or to study. I'll surely revisit. read more

Excellent coffee and they serve a mean BLT! Do bring your patience...our party of 6 stopped in on a Friday midday and while we were the only ones there originally, there was only one employee. She had to take all of our orders, make all of our drinks, and then make our sandwiches. It wasn't a fast process - and they should definitely have at least 2 folks working to make it a better experience for both the staff and the customers. But the employee was kind and apologetic and did a great job with our orders. I recommend giving them a shot! read more

Cutest Cinnabon latte LOOK AT THE BAKED SURPRISE. BIT pricy but a quality breakfast. Excellent staff greeted with a smile and a welcome environment. Food is pretty good. The service isn't bad. A good place if you're looking for somewhere more low key.

The place, atmosphere wise is astounding. A lot of detail went into the ambience of the place and it just looks awesome. The staff is also pretty cool too. This should be a 5 star but two minor things are preventing it to be one. The Wi-Fi connection is spotty and the frappe I had didn't have the texture of a Starbucks Frappuccino. It kinda crumbled apart after a few sips but it was still good nonetheless. Just a minor inconvenience. As good as this place is, I don't see it competing with a Starbucks but it is a good substitute since there are only Dunkin Donuts scattered around Rockaway Blvd. It definitely better than DD but that's about it. It's kinda pricey so I would place Tim Hortons over that by cost alone and this place isn't on the same tier as Starbucks so that's still on top. Nitpicking aside, I do recommend this place. You'll love the decor and you might have better luck with the WiFi than I did. I wouldn't recommend trying the frappe on the first try. I'd go for the iced latte or espresso. read more

This is my first review ever. I love, love, and did I say love this cafe. The fact that it's mission based coffee shop just sets it apart from any other around. The coffee and frappes are delicious. But about 2 weeks ago they added outdoor brunch from 11a-2p on Saturdays. My husband and I decided to make a reservation. It was the best decision ever. I felt like I walked into a brunch in Paris. The ambiance and the food was amazing. We had the smoked salmon and shrimp as our appetizers. My husband had the open faced burger and the juices that were dripping from every bite was everything. I decided on the avocado toast with tuna. This food was slap your mama good. Of course we had to have dessert as if we didn't eat enough. I had the creme brulee. Definitely have this when you go. Came here on a Tuesday morning. It was not very busy but the building has plenty of seating and was very clean. The service was terrific. I've been coming to compass cafe at least once a week to work. The staff is really nice and welcoming. Each time in greeted with a warm hello and a smile which is a great start to the day. Came into this local coffee shop for a cup. Greeted by friendly faces. My Mocha was heavenly. No pun intended. The service was exceptional. Our server was Jason. This cafe truly supercedes any other cafe I have ever been to.Their staff is amazing and give great recommendations. The ambiance is so calm and relaxing. I always feel like I'm at home. All of this is awesome but the best part is their menu!!! My third place beverage choice is the Milo Frappuccino, it is both nostalgic and delicious. I love it served with a little bit of sweetener. Second place is the Red Velvet Latte with almond milk. You just cannot go wrong. The first place winner that will put a smile on your face and have you coming back for more is the Pistachio Latte.
